The game was nearly over, just a few rounds left for each team to come out victorious. The movements from players on both her team and the opposition seemed more determined - or perhaps more desperate. Sarah still had complete faith in her team, the Vipers were strong. And although the foreign team seemed a worthy opponent to Hogwarts' winning team, she was confident that they wouldn't be enough as she successfully dodged another oncoming spell.

With Felix being knocked unconscious, it was up to the four of them left on the field to bring honor to their schools. Max was determined to find an opening to gain a better position on the board, and he would spot an opportunity soon enough. Sliding over to his new square, he readied his wand once more, settling into a sturdy and stable stance.

ROUND 12

The soon to be fifth year sighed as the duel began to drag out somewhat. He would find that Slytherin had lost some of their early spirit and would mostly focus on staying alive. Though Alan had to admit that perhaps that was the smarter thing to do in such a situation but it also just felt far more boring. He was impressed by the conjuration of thick fog that blasted from Dmitri's wand and covered a big chunk of the playing field. Though it also meant it would be harder to see what was actually going on, so the captain narrowed his eyes in order to focus better. Dmitri was hit by a spell from Maksim and Alan thought to recognize it as the Impedimenta Hex. Irina and Astrea however would miss their spells, whereas Violet and Sarah had been ready for any spells that could have come their way. Henrietta and Amaury would both move, though unlucky for them would not be able to escape the fog that had once again gathered on the playing field, bigger than before.

Irina wasn’t going to heal her team this time, she was going to attempt to send a blindfold on the girl in front of her. Unfortunately, the spell completely missed her target causing Irina to groan. It was yet another spell she missed. Watching the rest of the spells take place, Irina was glad she wasn’t the only one missing as another person missed. Then, all of a sudden, more fog entered the area from the other team’s Queen. It was like his speciality move at this point and it was one Irina was ready to combat.

Amaury moved forward another square. He now stood directly diagonally adjacent to the Slytherin queen who, it seemed, was not quite done with his favorite spell, once more covering the international team's side of the board with a thick fog. But then, they had been playing the whole match with a little bit of smoke on their side, so what was a little more? Besides, both sides were running out of time, and the game was much to close for Amaury's comfort. There was no time to worry over such things.

Just as Ret moved to stand behind Maksim, the opposing queen once again submerged the board in a stirring cloud of fog. She'd squint through it, making out the silhouette of the tall boy in front of her and the indistinct shadows of the opposing team, certain features glaring back through the obstruction and brewing a tension on the field that was unmatched by anything she'd known in previous duels. The game was coming to a rapid close, perhaps too quickly to watch them all collapse in a defeated heap just as Felix had, but it was not too late to bring home a win for the foreign team. Getting lost in her thoughts was an endeavor for tomorrow, as today, it was time to ready herself for the next round with a confident change in posture and a sinister grin at the other members of her team.

Sarah had to squint her eyes to fully make out what had happened that round as the fog conjured from her captain's wand obscured the view she had of many of the other players. From what she could see, very little other than the conjured fog did happen as most players seemed to be moving or dodging spells which weren't being thrown. She herself was one of those people, keeping her senses on the highest of alert as she waited for a spell to be thrown her way - one which didn't actually come that round. She wondered how many round of this match would come after this, surely no more than a few were left. She tried to gauge how her fellow Slytherin's were fairing - whether Dmitri was looking positive or not, and whether the rest of the team seemed still in fighting shape. She still felt good in and of herself, they were still one teammate up after all.

Violet was lucky enough to be aware that she was going to get hit by the opposing team as she dodged the obscuro attack, sticking out her tongue to the girl that had just attempted the cast the spell on her. Looking around her, the Slytherin girl noticed that the fog was becoming bigger and bigger, however not enough to affect her own view of things. So far, so good, Violet thought.

In a streak-breaking move, Astrea momentarily paused her role as the primary team healer and instead went for the other team, turning her wand past her captain and diagonally into the refreshed smoke storm. Disappearing into the thick net of mist with a flash of scarlet light, the spell doing little to illuminate much except for the hazy silhouette of her opponent just barely dodging out of the way. Unfortunate. She had no knowledge of how many rounds there were left, only the fact that there were most likely not many left, but it seemed like things were winding down. A match on who could last the longest. Not exactly what she had expected when they had all walked in for the first few rounds, but certainly not the worst-case scenario.
