Teach me your skills
It wasn't too long ago that Haley had been beaming with excitement when she had made it to the Lion Quidditch team as second string. And while she had nearly died of excitement on the bench during all those games, something much bigger was now ahead of her. Haley was now first string Chaser and while in one moment an incredible amount of euphoria was released into her body, in the next moment panic set in. What if she wasn't good enough? What if she totally blew it and let her team down? What if she embarrassed herself in front of the whole school? What was the redhead thinking, but giving up was not an option. She really wanted to be part of this team and she wanted to contribute to the success of the lions. Conversely, however, this meant that she would have to do something for it. Train, train and train again.
But that only suited her, since Summer camp was over, Haley had already put a lot of time into her training. When she wasn't spending her free time studying, reading or doing homework, she was running, building her strength or on the Quidditch training pitch. While small successes were already beginning to show as a result of her training, it wasn't enough for Haley. On the one hand, she wanted to give it her all so that she wouldn't fail in her first season as first string, and on the other hand, she needed the training to get her mind off things. It helped her to clear her head and to forget the events of the holidays.
Luckily for her, she had a friend like Lavinia, who played as a Chaser on the Ravenclaw team and had agreed to train with her. She was incredibly grateful for this offer and while she had hardly felt like seeing anyone lately, let alone doing anything with anyone, she was looking forward to seeing Lavinia again. The two of them had had a strong trust in each other from their first meeting and something about this friendship was special. It was just a very special bond. She looked forward to spending time with her, getting distracted, laughing and most of all learning something from her.
Haley still had about an hour before she would meet Lavinia on the training pitch. She took advantage of the time and put in one more workout before that. She ran a few laps around the field, putting in some strength exercises in between, trying not to push herself too hard as she shouldn't underestimate the Quidditch practice later. It wasn't long before the first drops of sweat ran along her temple and Haley lost herself in her workout until 40 minutes later when she flopped onto her back and finally took a breath.
After her pulse had calmed down, she went to her bag and took out her water bottle, wiping away the remaining sweat with her towel. She would use the rest of the time for a short rest until Lavinia would arrive and so she dropped onto her bottom and then back and folded her arms under her head.
