When she at first looked at him, Lydia could still see a frown over her best friend's face, and for a second thought that that was it, that was how their friendship was going to end, all because of a stupid fight. All different kinds of scenarios started going through her head, almost sending her in a panic, but when Aaron spoke, all her doubts went away. Lydia found that her smile grew bigger at his words, unable to stop the happiness from filling her heart.
"Thank you, you're the best," she said, her voice full of gratitude towards him. "Of course, you have every reason to still be a little upset," she understood why he felt like that, so she couldn't blame him for it. Lydia took a deep breath as she closed her eyes, feeling the fresh air fill up her lungs; she felt like she was breathing for the first time in a while, it felt nice, it felt good, it made her feel better, less miserable.
She looked back at Aaron, and only just realised it was probably almost dinner time; if they stayed out too late they might end up missing the meal or worse, end up staying outside past the curfew. His offer of walking around was tempting, the air was chill enough to feel good on the skin, so Lydia nodded. "Yeah, we can walk around a little bit," she said, and smiled at him before she started walking towards the Castle, while still staying outside on the grounds. As they walked, Lydia didn't talk; instead she focused on her breathing and the sound of their shoes on the ground, the feeling of the air on her face. It was good, calm, and for the first time in a while, she felt like things could be alright, that they could get better.
After a little bit, she looked at Aaron and then at the Castle, and noticed that the sky had started to turn darker. "We should really go now, dinner is most likely already being served," she said, and just as she was done talking, her stomach growled loudly, stealing a genuine laugh from her. "I guess my tummy agrees with me, so... wanna go to dinner?" she asked, giving Aaron a smile, as she motioned with her head towards the castle.
"Everything beautiful is ruined eventually."

As they walked along the grounds, Aaron kept his hands in his hoodie pocket and fiddled with the gift that he had for Lydia. There was no way he could give it to her right now, not after everything that had just happened. He didn't even particularly want to give it to her after their argument and learning about Rafael but- he knew those feelings would ultimately fade. And maybe later he would find a time to give it to her. Right now, though, the gift was being used as a fidget gadget. The first-year Hufflepuff would turn it over and over in his hands, the motion hidden by the pocket, as he walked alongside his best friend.
The walk was nice and much needed. He realized he had been more heated than he thought, and as they walked, the tension in him faded. The twelve-year-old let the wind wash over him and clear his thoughts, and as the sky got darker, his spirit felt lighter.
Aaron's brown eyes landed on Lydia when she finally spoke a while later. He couldn't help the genuine smile that crossed his lips at the sound of her laughter. She looked less puffy, too - almost as if the crying was long in the past. "Dinner it is," he agreed, and they headed to the castle together.
