A potential friend

My name is Alice Grimmshaw, and we've been assigned to be eachother's quill pals! Isn't that exciting! I didn't want to do it at first because theres so much writing involved but then my mum pointed out that it was an opportunity to make a new friend and I decided that I would do it! Its very nice to meet you -- even if its through owl!
To introduce myself: I am a first year Gryffindor here at Hogwarts. I have an older sister who is in Ravenclaw, and I have a younger brother who hasn't started his schooling yet, but wants to be in Hufflepuff. I like playing outside and quidditch!! My grandmother used to be a quidditch player and I want to be just like her when I grow up. I'm planning on trying out for the quidditch team this year, and I really hope I make it! My favourite quidditch team is Puddlemere United, they're the best! Do you like quidditch? What's your favorite team?
Speaking of favorites, do you have a favourite dragon? Thats a very important thing to know about your friends, because dragons are cool and everyone has to have a favourite dragon! My favourite dragon is the Swedish Short-Snout dragon, because they're blue and so is their fire. Did you know that their fire can reduce organic material to ash seconds? Maybe if I don't become a quidditch star I'll become a dragon handler. That might make my brother jealous though because he's never gotten on with animals that well. This summer the niffler that hangs around the area we live in stole ten of his paint brushes and I had to chase it down to get them back every time! Trying to catch up to a niffler can be tough, did you know that? It's fun though, because I get to dive into the bushes after it and Mum would usually never let me dive into the bushes because then my clothes might get all full of sticks and leaves but I think that's a wonderful way for clothes to be!

Hello! I've done things like this quite a bit before (quill palls, I mean) but all of them except one sort of peetered out, and the one who I'm still writing to... well, we don't actually write to each other all that much, it's quite complicated. It's nice to meet you too! You're in first year, right? Well, I'm in third, so I've been here for two years now, so if you have any questions about anything or you're confused over something feel free to ask me. As long as it's not about flying or Quidditch or something like that. I'm not all that much of a quidditch fan. I don't really like flying and quit the class as soon as I got the opportunity. (If you're like me, don't worry. You only have to get through a year before you can drop it. If you're a hardcore Quidditch fan, like my youngest sister... I apologise for any offence caused.)
Oh, no, I just read your second paragraph... I would restart this letter so as to be less insulting contrary I don't even know out-there, I guess, but it's kinda late and I barely have any ink left anyway. Do you mind? I'm sorry. Anyway, I'll assume you're from a Wizarding family since you mentioned a sibling already at Hogwarts. I have a sister in Ravenclaw as well, although younger. I'm the oldest child in my family. There's three of us, all girls, and then Ebony (my mother), of course. She was in Slytherin, as was my father, and my youngest sister wants to be a Slytherin too. Personally, I'm a Hufflepuff, although I always used to want to be a Slytherin as well. Looking back on it In restrospect Looking back on it, though, Hufflepuff suits me more really. I've been told I'm loyal to a fault. How is Gryffindor? I have a friend in your house (Scarlett Aden, do you know her? She's on the Quidditch team so you've probably heard of her at least), but an enemy as well I suppose some Gryffindors can sometimes be hard to get along with I'd recommend staying away from Rose Moon if you can, she's... annoying horrible got a terrible sense of right and wrong competitive. Good luck with the Quidditch tryouts! I'd offer to come watch but I don't think they let spectators in, especially ones from other houses.
Dragons are... scary terrifying unpredictable not my favourite animal, I'll be honest. I did not know that, and now I do I'm terrified all over again. There's a niffler which lives near your house? That's not good. Have you called the Ministry? You need to make sure the Muggles don't notice it. I have to say, nifflers are quite cute though. Almost as cute as pygmy puffs. Speaking of which, I have a pygmy puff, named River, who is currently trying to give her tongue a papercut by licking this parchment. I think she likes the taste of ink. It's a bit weird.
Anyway, I need to go now if I'm to get to the Owlery and back in time for curfew.
