Snow and Wind

A gasp escaped Dee when Jack agreed with Ileen's silly idea of using gloves as kindling, and, even worse, singled out her gloves for the task. Why were they ganging up on her! Outrageous, that was. One of said pink gloves ended up being pointed at Jack's face as to better express her indignation, although she didn't manage to stay serious, the corners of her mouth twitching upwards. "Your hair looks pretty flammable, too."
Aaron's thanks for the gust of hot air was rewarded with a bright, enthusiastic grin, setting her eyes shining even with the storm raging around them. Finally someone knew to appreciate her! The same could obviously not be said for Ileen and Jack. Ungrateful, the lot of them. To make her disappointment abundantly clear, Dee took a moment to pout at both her best friend and the Hufflepuff prefect equally, lower lip pushed out and eyebrows drawn together, before being snapped back to task.
Some meager flames summoned, Dee was still busy watching them with narrowed eyes while the boys began to build a wall to ward off some of the wind, only briefly distracted by the prospect of hot chocolate. That sounded amazing right now- but first, the fire. Should she just cast the spell again? Or was that cheating? The flames were still burning, bravely fighting the wind and snow, so she supposed it should be fine to just leave it.
Her eyes brightened at Ileen's idea, and she nodded energetically, grinning when Ileen almost got dragged away into the storm, the umbrella catching the wind like a sail. "That's smart! Hold on, I can do that, too!" They'd just have to be careful, she didn't particularly fancy the idea of taking flight, dangling from an invisible umbrella. That sounded even worse than being on a broomstick. "Pluvia Velo," she muttered, both hands wrapped around her wand, body tensed to brace herself.

While she couldn't really see the success of her spell, she could definitely feel it, the wind immediately tugging at her wand, forcing her to dig her heels in as she maneuvered it to provide better guard for the fire. It was still burning, which was promising.
Aaron's inquiry about a watch received a shake of her head. She'd had one that she'd been using at home in Whitehaven, but it had been powered by a battery, which meant it had broken as soon as she'd set foot into Hogwarts. Even at home, with just the magic of her parents, she'd had to get it replaced rather often. "I don't," she replied, glancing at the flames uncertainly. "But... I think it should soon be long enough? Right?"
