First Steps on a Wonderous Path Solo Finished

A young boy stands on the bustling platform, observing the children clad in robes of red, green, blue, and yellow. These children and their older counterparts fill the air with sounds of laughs, cheers, and heartfelt goodbyes. The boy's gaze shifts from person to person as he takes in the astonishment of the wonderous world that he knows he will soon embark into.

Growing up with two wizard parents, Nathan knew about Hogwarts. He knew about the platform and the train that carries students to the renowned institution of Witchcraft and Wizardry. Even so, all of the images he thought up in his head were nothing compared to the view that was now in front of him.

His unyielding gaze is broken as a firm hand is placed on his shoulder. A voice bellows from behind him.

"I just know you're going to have a wonderful time, son!" said, Thomas Hamilton

This sentence broke through the multitude of sounds surrounding Nathan. These words drew him out of his wonder as he shifted himself to face his father who was now standing behind him. Nathan's mother, Margaret, was nestled under Thomas' arm. She has a large smile on her face that reaches from ear to ear. Her eyes were fixed solely on Nathan. The gloss of tears could be faintly seen on her cheeks in a poor attempt to wipe them away.

"I'm going to miss you while you're gone. The house will feel so empty without you there." Chirped Margaret

These words filled Nathan's ears. Mixed emotions of sadness, excitement, and love began to overflow inside him as he burst into tears. He embraces his mother and father before stepping back next to his luggage and wiping away the moisture from his cheeks.

"I... I... will be sure to write to you as much as I can! I promise I will." stated Nathan

"You best be boarding the train before it leaves without you. Make sure to sit with interesting people during your ride. They may just become your best friends." said, Thomas

The couple locks eyes as both of them present cheesy grins that transition into laughter.

Nathan looks at his family who are now shuffling him to the edge of the platform just next to the entrance to one of the passenger cars. He turns around and gives them a large hug before stepping back and waving at them. As they exchange their goodbyes, Nathan crosses the threshold of the doorway. His heart is retaken with wonder and his mind fills with excitement as he takes in the sounds and the sights of the vehicle that would chauffeur him to hopefully the first of many great years in a brand new chapter that will shape who he is to become.
