Elliot Price was living in a loop, a loop that had just been disturbed by their presence. By their intrusion, their interruption. There was a bit of magic involved, of course there was. The agitated buzz of Elliot's watch would remind him that he was off-schedule. That he no longer abided by the pace of the watch. There was a compulsion, this unfathomable urge to tarry on in spite of their presence. This voiceless agitation, this itch that he just coluld not quite scratch, this vauge fog seemed to delude the old man who was sharper than this. He could not explain it, the reasons why. It was like asking why his heart beat or his lungs took in air. There were vague concepts like a need to breathe, for blood to pump through his veins but he did not truly understand it, he did not consciously command himself to breathe. Yet when you become aware of this, your pace changes.

Elliot was realizing the disconnect. The gap. Time, so much time had passed. It was not weeks or days, it was months. Time is meaningless when existing in such monotony. There was no reason, why did he leave? He left when he should have came. What was he doing and why? His heart new that something was wrong but his mind was buzzing with obligations, like a checklist that was left incomplete.

There is something about ambition, how it not only propels you but also defines you.

“A few months? Longer perhaps? It's hard to recall the specifics.” Caradoc admitted to the old man. Even he had a hard time recollecting the finer things. He was just aware of the larger waves caused by the smaller events. If you could call a disappearance small, amongst attempts of murder. Caradoc's eyes searched Elliot's for answers. He did not seem well, as if he was suffering from a loss, or a traumatic experience, perhaps. The Hufflepuff admitted Hogwarts could do that to a person. For a school that has been dubbed one of the safer places in the known wizarding world, it was often its largest target as well.

“Price…” Caradoc cleared his throat as he shifted towards his former colleague. “Elliot.” His voice was clear and articulate, as if he was casting a spell with utmost concentration. The Head of house tried to trap the man's attention with his words. “Why must the work 'be done'?” An odd question for an odd answer. There was something of an argument to be made for someone with Elliot's skill rotting away in a cellar, with the tedious work of filing. The world was wrong for placing him here, yet the man seemed to be here by his own will. It all sat wrong with Caradoc, who visibly showed his discomfort. “No one cares a jot about what you are doing down here.” Doc began to feel agitated, the mirthful face of the young desk jockey upstairs flashed in front of him. “They think you are a joke for being here. So why are you here? If not to heal? This was the important work you left us for??” Both his fist clenched themselves into tight balls.

Caradoc shot an angry and confused look at Nora. He knew she asked about Finlay, but this… this… this was a travesty, a scandal! “This is wrong.” He hissed underneath his breath at her. There was no way they could just let this pass and talk about Finlay. This was a part of his life ridiculed, wasted. They'd get to Finlay eventually, he had no doubt. Who knew if he even was here to begin with. The more the Head of Hufflepuff thought about this, the more he wanted answers and had half a mind to take the old man with him when he eventually left.

Her gaze never moved from Elliot as she observed him, trying to understand what was going on. He whispered their names. Whispered. Was he being watched or something? She had no idea but she did not trust much. There was something weird about everything, from the interaction at the Ministry to now - and she really disliked the fact that Caradoc was angry. That annoyed her.

There was almost a sense of relief when Elliot seemed to recognise the pair of them. It had been a while. In all honesty, she could not recall when he left exactly. This was normally not a big deal but it was weird for her. Her memory was never as bad as it had been in the past few... months? Years? She had no idea but it was getting pretty frustrating. Either way, it had been some time since Elliot left, as Caradoc had pointed out.

A frown crossed her eyebrows as he spoke about the work and how it must be done. Records were fairly important, sure. But there was other work that was equally, if not even more, important. What he could do as a healer was much more of a specialist role. A lot of people could maintain records and maintain them well but not everyone could save lives. His medical knowledge was wasted here. She did not need to question it though. Her partner in crime had managed to do that for her, his outrage had done that for her.

Hjørdis looked at Caradoc in return, a neutral look that stared at him for a moment. But she said nothing. She just wanted to deal with one thing at a time. Right now, they were here to find Finley and figure out what was going on with him. They could figure out what was happening with Elliot after. Telling him that he was considered a joke was probably not something she would have done. That seemed harsher than necessary. But with him hissing at her, she sighed softly and moved closer to Elliot. Gently, she would take his hand in her palms if he did not pull it away. "Are you happy?" She whispered, in a soft tone of voice that she was not normally heard speaking in. As she asked it, she stared at him and if he allowed her to, held his hand.

The Slytherin Head was not necessarily a touchy person. However, she held his hand for a reason. She wanted to know if he flinched or tensed, or did small movements at all of these questions and whilst he was answering them. She wanted to check if his palms were sweaty or any signs of potentially lying. She also wanted him to have a way to indicate something was not right to her if they were being watched.

It did not appear like they were being watched here. However, after the ministry, she felt like she was constantly having to look over her shoulder. Just in case. With a small frown on her face again, she continued, "What do you mean 'how long'? How long for... what, exactly?" She asked, confused by the question and where it came from. What exactly was going on in his head...?
