And he was pissed, because of that boy with the brain capacity of a cow, who decided it was okay to go for a joyride on a broomstick even though he clearly didn't know how to ride or control a broomstick. He was also pissed because it was muddy, and now he had a boot full of muck. Never mind that it felt weird- it was also cold, surprisingly cold given the okay temperatures on that warm September day.
Controlling a Silver Arrow was both easier and harder than controlling one of the old school brooms. They were rickety and unbalanced, causing the rider to constantly fear being thrown off or having the broom go berserk. The Silver Arrow was good- too good, and Suzuki wasn't used to it. But he did manage to get used to it after a while, until that stupid kid rammed into him and sent both of them tumbling. After watching him being taken away to the infirmary, Suzuki started at the sight of the bludger he'd forgotten about hurtling towards him. He managed to grab it, wrapping his arms around it as it barreled into him, losing his breath.
Suzuki wrestled it into the chest it belonged in, tightening the straps that bound it into place. Ouch. His ribs hurt even more than they had originally, and he sat in the mud, grimacing. Another week or two would be added to the multicolored bruise on his chest's stay.

Mei was sitting in the stands of the Training Pitch. Reading a book as always. There were a few boys there but only one seemed to catch her eye. She caught herself looking up from her book every now and then to sneak a glance at him. Another student rammed into him and they tumbled to the ground. Mei winced as she watched it happen. "Ouch. That's gotta hurt."
The kid was then taken to the infirmary. The boy she had been watching watched as the other student was taken away. However he was not paying attention to the black iron ball speeding towards him. The boy managed to grab the ball and wrapped his arms around it as it propelled into him.
The ball put up quite a battle as he tried to put it into its chest. He tightened the straps to keep the chest shut. He sat in the mud with a pained face. Mei was concerned. "Should I ask if he's okay?" Mei thought to herself. She decided to go down there and ask. She walked down to the training pitch and over to the boy. "Hey, are you okay? She asked with concern.

He was just beginning to stand up when this girl walked up to him and asked whether or not he was okay. Suzuki assumed she was talking about his physical state, not his mental state (he doubted everyone went out in the mud to wrestle with large iron balls with their own minds).
" I'm good. Thanks." He straightened up. and brushed grass off his pants. He couldn't help but remember the last time he'd practiced out here and fallen. Suzuki had gone back inside the building shedding grass, and he didn't even know about his state until one of the professors gave him this look.
" Are you here to practice too? Or no?" Suzuki didn't recognize her- she definitely wasn't on any of the Hogwarts teams he'd played against, but she kind of looked like someone who would be good at playing Quidditch, maybe. A Chaser.
Just then, the bludger wriggled free of it's constraints, and hurled itself at the girl. Uh oh. He should've secured the straps more or something. Maybe closed the lid. Suzuki lunged forward and managed to grab the thing. The acceleration blew him right over, and he accidentally knocked into girl over as he managed to get a good hold on the bludger. Luckily, Suzuki caught her before she fell to the ground. He stepped back suddenly, grimacing at both the pain in his ribs and the super close contact. He stuffed it back in the case, tightening the straps more than he had time, and locking the lid shut.
" Sorry about that. You okay?"

" I'm good. Thanks." The boy said as he stood up and dusted the grass of of his pants. The boy stared off for a small moment but quickly came to a second later. "Ok. I just wanted to make sure. That looked like it was painful.
" Are you here to practice too? Or no?" The boy asked her. " Oh no. I'm not on the quidditch team. It looks like fun though. besides the part where you get hit by an iron ball. Mei laughed slightly.
Not too soon after Mei finished her response the ball managed to escape from the chests and started to speed towards Mei. Mei looked at the ball and froze for a second too scared to move. The boy then launched himself in front of her and grabbed the ball. Due to how fast the ball was going the impact knocked the boy into Mei. The boy managed to catch Mei before she fell once getting a decent grip on the ball. Mei blushed from the contact and moved her hair out of her face. He stepped back grimacing in pain. He shoved the ball back into the chest, tightening the straps more than he had the first time, and locked the lid shut for extra secureness.
" Sorry about that. You okay?" The boy asked her. "Oh! Um yeah I'm fine. Are you okay though? You're the one who got hit. Mei looked worried.

" I'm used to it- I'm fine." He sat on the chest containing the bludgers and looked up at the girl. Suzuki scooted over some. " You can sit if you want," he told her. He grimaced at the ache in his ribs slightly.
It was only then that he got a good look at the girl- she had long blond hair, and nice blue eyes, though not the same shade as Suzuki's. His eyes were more green-blue-grey than just blue. She looked kind of like someone Suzuki knew, though he couldn't place her. He squinted at her face, trying to call up a memory that didn't come.
" Do I know you? What's your name, anyways?" Suzuki asked. " Anyways, if you're not on the team, what're you down here for, then? Not many people come down just to ask random people if they're okay."
He watched the girl for a moment, then turned to squint at the little figures flying around in the sky. Nearby, at the actual pitch, he could see the remains of a class talking and walking around, brooms positioned here and there.
"Are you interested in joining the Quidditch teams? You should- you only get hit every once in a while. It's not bad."

" I'm used to it- I'm fine." The boy said as he sat on the chest that held the iron balls and looked up at Mei. He scooted over a little to make room for Mei. "You can sit if you want," he said as he grimaced once more. Mei sat down next to him but on the edge a little so she wasn't too close. The boy squinted his eyes at Mei.
" Do I know you? What's your name, anyways?" The boy asked. " Oh no. My name's Mei. " Anyways, if you're not on the team, what're you down here for, then? Not many people come down just to ask random people if they're okay." " I was in the stands reading a book. I also just like to come here to watch the team practice. It's pretty interesting to see how quidditch is played." Mei looked at the boy.
The boy stared at her intently as if watching her and then turned his head to watch the other students who were flying on their brooms. "Are you interested in joining the Quidditch teams? You should- you only get hit every once in a while. It's not bad." Mei looked down for a second before answering. " I don't know... It seems fun but I'm too clumsy. "Mei faltered and looked at the boy. "I'll think about it...By the way...You know my name now but what's your name? Mei's hair tickled her nose and she sneezed a few times. " Excuse me. Sorry." Mei apologized and wiped her nose. She shivered, she'd been outside for a while and was only wearing a t-shirt and a pair of jeans.

" As in M-A-Y or M-E-I?" He asked. Suzuki knew about both variations- May was typically used in the European area, given by European parents, while Mei was more of an Asian name. Chinese and Japanese. He knew a few Mei's, back in Japan.
" I was in the stands reading a book. I also just like to come here to watch the team practice. It's pretty interesting to see how quidditch is played."
He nodded- he used to do the same exact thing. Bring a random book down and read while watching out of one eye. The weather here was rather nice- not too hot and not too cold- plus, it didn't rain often, providing dry conditions for Quidditch.
" I'm Kage Suzuki. Just call me Suzuki." He said. Suzuki was still kind of getting used to the way Europeans called each other by their first names. Still getting used to it after what- 9 years or something?
He watched her as she sneezed and shivered slightly. Suzuki didn't think it was that chilly- but then again he'd been exercising and whacking balls around for the past hour or so. To think of it- he was actually kind of hot. It was stuffy in his hoodie, and he took it off, offering it to the girl.
" You want my hoodie? You can have it for now if you're cold."

" As in M-A-Y or M-E-I?" He asked. "M-E-I. Mei Hagikura is my full name. Mei looked at him with a slight smile on her face. Saying her name out loud always made her smile for some reason. She never knew why it did. Maybe it was just the way it sounded coming out of her mouth? " I'm Kage Suzuki. Just call me Suzuki." He said. Mei nodded "Suzuki. Got it.
Suzuki noticed Mei shiver and then took of his hoodie and offered it to her. " You want my hoodie? You can have it for now if you're cold." Mei looked down at the hoodie faltering for a moment unsure if she should accept it or not. Soon enough she made the decision to accept the hoodie from him and slipped it over her head. She did not want to be rude. "Thank you."Mei smiled quite brightly.
The hoodie was warm. But that was probably because he had been wearing for the last hour or so during his practice. Mei looked around not quite sure what to do or what to talk about. She turned to Suzuki. "Is there anything else that you want to talk about perhaps? Mei asked him before shivering again. She drew her knees up to her chest and wrapped her arms around them. She messed with the laces on her shoes whist waiting upon a response.

" Hagikura? You're Japanese? Not that that matters. Just asking." Suzuki said. There didn't seem to be a large amount of Japanese kids in Hogwarts. Mostly European. After all, this was Hogwarts, a major wizarding school in the middle of Europe.
Mei hesitated at the offering of his hoodie, but eventually took it.
"Is there anything else that you want to talk about perhaps?" She added, before shivering and bending down to mess with the laces of her shoes.
Suzuki shrugged. He hadn't really planned on coming here to practice, get rammed, and end up talking to a random girl while sitting on a box containing several deadly iron balls with minds of their own.
" Not particularly. Well... What house are you in? I'm in Gryffindor. Second year." Suzuki would've been too glad to say that he was a first year- things were much easier then. Less homework, less using your brain... Suzuki wasn't that great, wasn't that smart- things were a lot harder for him in his second year. Imagine what being a third year would be like. Then the OWLS and the NEWTS. He'd seen how frenzied some of the fifth years had been, studying for the dreaded NEWTS.

" Hagikura? You're Japanese? Not that that matters. Just asking." Suzuki asked her. "Yeah. I am. I inherited it from my mothers side. My father was European. " Mei explained. He shrugged to Mei's question. " Not particularly. Well... What house are you in? I'm in Gryffindor. Second year." Mei looked up from her shoes. "I'm in Ravenclaw. Also a Second Year." Mei said.
She messed with her shoelaces once more before looking up at the sky. Fall was her favorite season. Not too cold and Not too hot. But this also meant that it was almost time for winter. She pouted at the thought of it. She then pulled her arms through Suzuki's hoodie and slid it over her head. She fixed the sleeves and handed it back to him. "Here is your hoodie back. I am warm now." Mei told him.
She ran her fingers through her hair and yawned a little. She looked around the training pitch and then to Suzuki. Mei studied him. His eyes were a very gorgeous grayish blue color. His hair was dark brown. Pale skin. He wasn't really bad looking. "Your eyes are a really really pretty color." Mei did not realize she was talking out loud. Mei smiled slightly and looked away. She fingered the flower on her necklace and looked back at the sky.
