Starlee had honestly begun the day just like any other day. Classes had just started up since it was now the new school year, and with that, she was not the lowest student on the totem pole anymore. She was... gasp... a second-year!

She wanted to shout it from the rooftops she was so excited - if it weren't for the fact that most of the roofs around her were pretty steep, and that she didn't have a broom, she probably would have done so.

It was Wednesday, just after her morning Herbology lesson, and Starlee was still staring at one of the plants in front of her, furiously scribbling down notes. She didn't even notice that one of her best friends, well, really, practically an older sibling, had stepped into the threshold of the greenhouses. A boy nudged her and she was about to tell him off when he pointed in the direction of the door - at Cash.

Starlee's smile widened, and she slammed her notebook shut, shoving into her messenger bag as Cash approached her. "Heya Cash!" she said, a smile wide on her face. Cash began to mention that it was September 8th. 'The 8th... the 8th...' It took her a few moments, until she realized that it was the day they had met. The second week of school, where Starlee had managed to buckle up the courage to talk to the student with the coolest purple hair, and who she had seen on the quidditch teams roster.

"It's the day we met! The day I came up and talked to you." She smiled at the now third year, who had also decided to ditch the purple hair, with now a brunette color. She watched as Cash held up the cloth, and nodded. "Yea, I'm down for lunch! And... Erm... Sure Cash!" she said with a bit of hesitancy. She had already seen the chamber, so what was the blindfold for?

Cash took the messenger bag from Starlee's hand, and Cash asked if she trusted them. A disney movie quote, one Starlee was all too familiar with. To be fair, there wasn't a disney movie really that Starlee hadn't seen. Her family may have been a bit obsessed. "Aladdin, eh?" she smiled, unable to see around her. "Yes." she would simply respond back.

The journey from the greenhouse wasn't too long. They were on the same floor after all, so at least there was no need to attempt to traverse stairs, or worse, the moving staircase. She could tell they entered the hall from the loud murmur of voices echoing throughout the large room. Cash continued to lead her down the long row of tables, until they finally stopped, causing Starlee to stop as well. Cash ushered her to take a seat, and, still blindfolded, Starlee straddled the bench of the table and sat herself down.

When she sat, Cash finally unveiled the blindfold from her eyes, revealing that the third year had a portion of the Slytherin table had been set up with sandwiches and juice that Starlee somewhat remembered from the day they met. Cash had been eating a strange sandwich she had never seen, while Starlee had something... well something much less appetizing. Who can remember what it was now.

Starlee looked back at the third year next to them, as they flashed their jazz hands at her. Starlee flashed them back, but got up from her seat to swiftly give the third year a hug. "Oh Cash, its wonderful!" she said as she hugged them, after Cash had announced the celebration in Spanish. While Starlee didn't know a lot of Spanish, she put the words together, figuring it had to mean something like 'happy anniversary', and so she attempted to say it back. "Fel-iz anniversary... er... año amis!" She attempted, butchering the phrase pretty badly. The girl had managed to learn the snake language, but Spanish was still a literal world away.

She pulled away, sitting back down and patting the bench beside her for Cash to join. "I've always wanted to try one of these!" she said, as she took a big bite out of the sandwich. "MMmmmmmm....

After the green eyes asked Starlee whether the bubbly blonde remember what was happened on the eighth, Starlee thought for a moment, Until she remembered what was the occasion. "It's the day we met! The day I came up and talked to you"The now the second year replied back. Cash smiled at that. "Correct!"They expressed happily.

Usually, Cash did not bother to associate themselves with younger students. But on that day, exactly one year ago, Cash just knew that something special will be born from the unlikely pairs and their guts never failed them. Having Starlee as a friend was the best moment that Cash had. Starlee was like a younger sibling they never had.

The Cuban descendant asked Starlee whether she wanted to lunch with the green eyes or not and whether she is down for her eyes to be blindfolded. The duelist said yes to both Cash requested. Good thing that Starlee got the reference of that small snippet. "Yes, it is Aladdin,"They replied. "Aladdin is one of my favorite Disney movies "They told the human sunshine personified.

The trek from the Herbology greenhouse to the Great Hall was not that far. Once Cash revealed today's lunch menu and flashed their jazz hands, Starlee flashed them back. Cash let out a small laugh. "You are adorable, don't you know that?"They said to Starlee. No matter what Starlee did - big or small -, it always can put a smile on their face.

Starlee balanced Cash in every way. Starlee is like a light that brightens Cash's dark life and for that they are so thankful that Starlee came into their life and they would not trade it for anything. Once Starlee saw the menu, she got up from her seat and gave the third year a swift hug. Another thing that Cash did not mind doing with Starlee is a simple physical contact like a hug.

With her, it did not seem forced. It is the opposite. The hug felt natural. With Starlee, Cash always can feel like themselves. There was no pretense when the former purple-haired around her. "Oh Cash, its wonderful!"She expressed as she hugged the young socialite. She then sits back down and patted the bench beside her.

Cash stood up from where they were situated, which is across Starlee then seated back down next to her. "Thank you,"Cash replied back. "It not much since I told Maritza one of the Ironwoods helper on such short notice"They informed the young blonde. The Cuban descendant let out a soft laugh when Starlee butchered Spanish.

But Cash did not mind that a bit. It is so adorable the way Starlee tried to speak back a language that definitely foreign to her. "You could understand Parsel and yet can not speak Spanish is just too cute, Star"They expressed and smile widely at Starlee's adorableness."I will teach you how to speak Spanish of these days"Cash informed Starlee and nodded their head.

"What I said earlier is 'happy one year friendship anniversary, Star!'"The Beater translated it for Starlee. "A for effort, I give you that"Cash uttered. After Starlee seated back down, she took one of the Cuban sandwich loaves and took a big bite out of it. Starlee let out an appreciative sound. Cash suppressed their smile.

"Glad that you like it"They expressed. "It is called Cuban sandwich,"The green eyes added. "Consist of ham, roasted pork, Swiss cheese, pickles, and mustard in Cuban bread. This is one of my favorite food and I am glad that I can share it with you"Cash concluded as they took one of the loaf and bite it too.

'Mental note added: One of Cash's favorite Disney Movies is Aladdin.' She visualized a notepad scribbling the information down in her head. Certainly something she would save for later.

Cash complimented Starlee's adorableness, and Starlee beamed back, cocking her head slightly to the side sweetly in response. It was honestly just all natural to her. No matter how hard she had tried over the course of the summer camp, she couldn't seem to exude that 'cool confidence' vibe that people like Cash seemed to have. In fact, it would turn into pure nervousness, or... a total panic attack, as was the case for spin the bottle. In any case, none of that mattered when Starlee was around Cash. She was able to just be herself around them, knowing that Cash was her friend no matter what.

After their hug, the pair sat back down and Starlee began to dig in to the food that Cash had brought. "Ooooh..." she began with a mouthful of sandwich, "Maritza made these?" she questioned, remembered the woman from her visit to the Manor last Easter. "Be sure to tell her I say thank you!!" she said enthusiastically, taking in yet another bite of the sandwich. Cash then listed all the ingredients out loud and Starlee paused for a moment.

"This has HAM?" she held the sandwich close to her face to try to investigate its layers. Sure enough, there were two layers of meat in there. "Whoa, I don't normally like ham, but MAN this is gooooooood!" She drew out the last word as she closed her eyes in revelry for another bite. And another little tidbit of information for the Cash stockpile came out - It's one of Cash's favorite foods. It wasn't hard to see why, I mean it was delicious, but it also probably reminded Cash of home, of their heritage. Starlee wished she had something like that. Sure her parents were American, but what did they do that was that much different than the UK? Aside from their blatant accents, not much, Starlee felt.

Starlee transitioned back to their conversation about Spanish and Parseltoungue. "Mmm, maybe Spanish is next on the list then, ey?" she told the third year. "If I can manage to learn one language in a year, I'm sure I can learn Spanish too!" Of course, understanding a language is a lot easier than speaking it back, which is one of the reasons that it had been easier to learn Parsel. She didn't have to speak it back, because she literally couldn't.

"Lemme give it another go then!" she said, readying herself for another attempt to say the new phase. "Fe-liz aniversariooooo... er... de... un... ayyyno de ami-stad!" she finished, beaming back at Cash. "Ey? Ey? Betterrrr?" she goaded the Third Year, bursting into a fit of giggles as she was sure that it really wasn't that much better than her first attempt.

But that was something she loved about Cash. No matter what, Cash was there to support her. Whether it was her dueling matches, to helping with homework, to helping her learn a different language, to even some boy troubles, Cash was there to help. She was so lucky to call Cash a friend, better yet, a sibling.

As Starlee cocked her head to the side sweetly and beamed back at the green eyes, Cash could not help to smile from ear to ear and let out a laugh. "Seriously, I think I might have cavities from how adorable you are,"They told Starlee while still smiling fondly at the sunshine personified that seat beside them. Usually, Cash was not the type of person to give out such gooey and mushy compliments but with Starlee it felt natural.

With Starlee it always seems right and Cash does not have to fake the sincerity behind it. Because with Starlee they can feel the friendship between both of the serpents is genuine. "Maritza made these?" Inquired the blonde-haired girl. "Sí yes!"The green eyes replied after they chewed down their sandwich. "Usually my mother made this, but Maritza's creation come second after my mother's"The informed the second year.

"Be sure to tell her I say thank you!!"Starlee said enthusiastically. "I will send your gratitude to her in my next owl"Cash uttered. Seeing Starlee enjoying the sandwich with such gusto, Cash appreciates her even more. Starlee is the type of someone that Cash longed to be. So carefree and light. The girl had this aura of joy radiated from her.

Starlee seems surprised when Cash told the other girl one of the ingredients inside the sandwich is ham. Then Starlee informed the young Ironwoods that she normally does not like ham. The third year make a mental note to ask Starlee what other things she did not like. "I am sorry about that,"They uttered. "I mean, I do not know you do not like ham,"They continued.

"If I knew, I would have sent something different"They conclude. Cash felt a bit guilty not knowing what their best friend liked and disliked. But their guilt-ridden feeling slowly dissipated when they saw Starlee closed her eyes, clearly liking the food of Cash's choice. "I am glad that you enjoyed the treats as I did,"They said as Cash took another bite of the sandwich.

The green eyes then remembered something. They had brought something for Starlee as a gift for their friendship anniversary. They put down their half-done sandwich and dusted off their hands from breadcrumbs. The Cuban descendant then patted their robe to feel the folded parchment. When they felt the parchment that reside inside the pocket of their robe, Cash took out the folded parchment and presented it to Starlee.

"Before I forgot, I want you to have this"They pushed the folded A4-size of parchment toward Starlee. "It is not much but I think what drew inside it was one of my favorite memory of us,"They told Starlee. Cash had heard from the grapevine that Aurora Ranvier, a second-year student, is good when it comes down to coloring and drawing people on a piece of parchment.

Prior to this day, the green eyes were hunting the Ravenclaw down. Once they found the peculiar girl, Cash told Aurora what they want to give to the girl that Cash consider a sibling. Cash gave out all the details, Aurora named her price, the green eyes waited a few days and some days later, Aurora gave the requested drawing of them and Starlee to Cash.

Cash was glad that when the young Ironwoods told the other girl, Aurora did not pry much about it and Cash appreciated that. The young socialite waited for Starlee to unfold the parchment. "I hope you like it"They said as Cash continued to finish up their sandwich. Once Starlee gave out her response to Cash's gift, their conversation back to the topic of language.

"Mmm, maybe Spanish is next on the list then, ey?"She expressed. "If you want,"They said. "If not, that's fine too. No pressure at all"Cash added. Starlee then tried one more time to mimicking of the Spanish sentence that Cash said a few minutes ago. The green eye then let out a laugh when Starlee still butchering the language.

But the Beater completely understands it. Spanish was not her mother tongue and Starlee put an effort to learn by doing it. "Ey? Ey? Better?"She asked the third year. Starlee then burst into fits of giggles as she tried her best and Cash had to give out their props to Starlee for that. "It is not perfect but you getting there"They replied as they also joined Starlee in fits of giggles.

"Oh, no worries at all Cash, this is actually delicious!" She responded when Cash mentioned they didn't know Starlee's typical distaste for ham. Of course, it seemed now there were certain situations were ham could be good, this being one of them, and Starlee was quite the adventurous type in the first place, always ready to try new things, even if it had typical ingredients that she didn't like.

While Starlee was happily munching down on the Cuban Sandwich, Cash was busy pulling something out of their robe. Starlee took another bite of the almost now completely finished sandwich and dusted her fingers on her robes to get the crumbs off, taking the parchment from them after.

She wasn't entirely sure what to expect, she honestly hadn't been expecting any sort of gift from Cash. Not only that, but she felt bad that she hadn't gotten them anything in return. Starlee would certainly have to try better next time. As she unfolded the parchment, she saw a wonderful drawing of the two of them in the Chamber of Secrets, one of the most memorable recurring memories from her first year.

Weekly the pair had traversed to the Chamber in order to teach Starlee Parseltongue. Unfortunately, it seemed Starlee couldn't speak it back, but she had learned to understand the language, and having such a memorable time captured as a gift was simply too sweet for Starlee to comprehend.

Her eyes began to tear up as she said, "Cash, you... you really outdid yourself! This is amazing!" she managed to say as she choked while attempting to hold back tears of joy. She then flung her arms around Cash, in the second hug of the day. Hug's were good for you anyway.

After a few moments, she would pull away, using the ends of her robes to dab at her eyes. She would return to staring back down at the image, simply overjoyed at the care that Cash had put into this gift. Starlee would make sure that they would be repaid.

"I... I don't have anything for you..." she said, sniffing a bit. "But I promise I'll work on Spanish with you! I will get it!" she said, her eyes wide and glistening up at the third year.

"I'm so happy I met you, Cash."

Cash did not have to worry much longer since Starlee assured them that the meal that Cash brought is up to the second-year taste. Starlee even said the Cuban sandwich is delicious. The green eyes smile at that. Starlee's carefree and light personality is infectious. Cash always feels light and they did not have to worry about anything.

For awhile the third year watched Starlee munching down the Cuban sandwich until the Viridian Viper duellist dusted her fingers on her robes to get the crumbs off then taking the parchment from Cash. Deep down Cash worried a bit that Starlee did not like the present that Cash gave to her. The present was not as grand as how Cash usually gave presents to the people they care about.

Behind their eyelids, Cash saw Starlee unfold the parchment. The silence that fall between them worried Cash. Then they saw Starlee's eyes teared up. The Beater already prepared an apology, mistaken Starlee's tear-up eyes as a sign that she did not like the present that Cash had just given to her. "I know it was not as grand I used to give,"The tentatively said but then Starlee dissipated Cash's worry, again.

"Cash, you... you really outdid yourself! This is amazing!"The blonde said as Starlee got a bit choked up and hold her tears a bit. "So you like it?"They enquired. Cash's question was answered by Starlee flinging her arms around the Cuban descendant. Cash let out an 'oof' sound. They did not prepare for that kind of hug.

Cash rubbed Starlee's back as they smile from ear to ear. After a moment of hugging each other, the Duellist pulled herself away. Cash saw that Starlee dabbed her eyes using the ends of her robes. "Aww.. don't cry, Estrella Star. If you cry, I might cry"They uttered as a way to lighten the mood around them. Starlee then looked down at the image again.

"I... I don't have anything for you..."She said, sniffing a bit. Hearing and seeing Starlee sniffling, Cash almost cry from the sincerity that the younger girl displayed. They never feel this kind of warmth. The genuine friendship of a person that really wants to be their friend is because Cash is Cash. Not because they are wealthy or because of their family status in the Wizarding World.

And these days Cash could count on one hand how many people are genuine with them and not a lot of people are worth of Cash's loyalty. "Stop! you will make me cry, Star"Cash's voice cracked up a bit. They also tried to hold back their tears. Cash looked up and gulped some air to suppress the tears that threatened to fall. "You don't have to give me anything, really,"They expressed.

"You and our friendship are more than enough for me,"They said honestly. Starlee knows very well how messed up Cash's home life is. The warmth that Starlee showed at the moment overwhelmed the young Ironwoods. Cash took a deep breath and when they were sure they did not feel like wanting to cry, they looked at Starlee again.

They smile but there are still unshed tears in their eyes. "But I promise I'll work on Spanish with you! I will get it!"She said, her eyes wide and glistening up at the third year. "I'm so happy I met you, Cash,"Starlee said. "I am sure you will get it. There is no doubt about it,"Cash encourages their sister not by blood but by bond.

"Me too, Star. Me too"They state as they put both of their hands on Starlee's shoulders. For a moment Cash looked at Starlee. They were so glad that Starlee came up to them that day and the universe linked them together. The green eyes took a deep breath again. "Enough with the mushy stuff,"Cash told Starlee. The green eyes then picked up their almost now completely finished sandwich.

They bite and chewed down. Once their mouth are not full with food and finished with their lunch, Cash looked at Starlee. Cash was not sure whether Starlee remembered or not but Cash had the urge to tell the second year their first real name. Cash capped the now empty grape juice pouch. "I do not know if you remembered it or not but one of my friends back then called me by Phoenix,"Cash tries to gauge Starlee's memory.

"Well, Phoenix is my first name. Not Cassandra."They told Starlee. "I rarely go with that name so that's that if you ever wonder"Cash uttered. They did not know how long they spent their lunch break with Starlee, all they know was that the Great Hall slowly thinning out with students who spend their time there.

"I think it is best if wrapped it up, Star if we do not want to be late for our next class,"Cash informed the girl beside them as they get up from where they were situated. Once Cash stands beside Starlee, they wait until the other girl does the same. After Starlee stands beside Cash, the third year pulled the second year in a hug.

"Thank you for being your wonderful self and also for celebrating our friendship anniversary with me"They uttered. Cash then pulled back and shot Starlee a smile. "See you back in our common room?"They asked Starlee. Once Starlee gave her response, both of the serpents will walk out of the Hall together then continued their day separately until they meet again in the common room.

Starlee had been truly warmed by Cash's heartfelt gift. She hadn't been expecting the older student to do anything whatsoever, but here they had given Starlee what she had to consider the best gift she could receive. Starlee was gripping the drawing tightly, now planning on getting a nice frame for it the first moment that she could. It would look great in her dorm. "So you like it?" Cash asked, and, after the hug, Starlee giggled and responded, "Like it? Cash, I love it. It... It means the world to me."

Tears were certainly continuing to threaten to fall down her face and Starlee kept attempting to combat them with her robe sleeves. "Aww.. don't cry, Estrella. If you cry, I might cry" Cash said, in an attempt to lighten the mood. "I... *sniff* I can't help it! You are one of my best friends Cash... truly." By this point, attempting to hold back tears was fruitless, and Starlee let them burst forth. Crying in the middle of the Great Hall wasn't exactly what she had planned on doing today, but at least it was a happy cry, and not a sad one.

Starlee now made a pact with herself that she would make an effort this year to learn Spanish with Cash. It would probably take a lot more time than Parsel, considering she couldn't conversate in that like she could definitely do with spanish, but she knew she wanted to do Cash proud, and this was the way she wanted to do it.

After Cash put their hands on her shoulders, they looked at her and took a deep breath. Sitting back down, they both began to eat once again, finishing up what was left of their food. Cash brought up that same day once again, where a friend of theirs had called them Phoenix. At the time, Starlee had just figured it was a nickname, but now she knew the truth, it was Cash's true name. "Oh really? I like Pheonix..." she said, the last word trailing off as she contemplated this new information.

Taking a final bite of the sandwich, Starlee dusted off any crumbs from her robe and listened as Cash pointed out that it was probably almost time for their afternoon lessons. "Yea... it is getting empty..." she commented. She stood up, wondering if her eyes were red from all the crying that had occurred, when Cash pulled her in for another final hug. Starlee hugged back tightly, a smile wide on her face.

"No Cash, thank you. You made this day so special, I'm truly thankful to call you a friend." she smiled and picked up her messenger bag. "Yea, I'll see you there later! Have a good lesson!" she would say back, making her way up to the Charms classroom.

Most of the Charms lesson turned out to be a blur, as Starlee's thoughts were all entirely filled with thoughts of Cash and the lunch they had so graciously had made for them. The picture had been shoved inside of the Charms book, and every so often, Starlee would open the book a crack to take a peek during the lesson. Emotions would bubble up every time she did so, threatening to send her back into tears, but she managed to maintain her composure. It was a wonderful day, made even better by just how great a friend Cash was, and Starlee knew that she would always be there for Cash, no matter what.
