Cade had never felt more dread than when he awoke that morning knowing fully well what day it was. Living with the first year Ravenclaws, Cade knew there was bound to be plenty of schemes awaiting him in every corner. The previous nights, Cade had heard plans for the ultimate April Fools prank and none of them were particularly funny. So the Ravenclaw resorted to rise early and keep out of the Europa dorm for as long as possible. He brought his favorite bag of Gobstones and a sketchbook along with his school things just so he could keep busy once classes were finished.

The day was long and the only entertaining prank Cade had the pleasure to witness was a singing sofa in one of the unused classrooms. He'd never had a laugh that shook his very core when he spotted a 6th year Hufflepuff sit upon the squashy sofa with a look of ultimate trepidation before. It unquestionably pleased him to no end.

Around three in the afternoon, the first-year Ravenclaws were off their last class and Cade wandered out to the courtyard, remembering fondly about his birthday party back in November. Oh, what fun they had playing their game of Medusa. Cade sat upon the grass enjoying the rare warmth of spring blow about him. Looking about at the other students that studied or laughed with friends. He realized how very alone he was. Had it been this time last year, Cade would have relished the alone time, but something about Hogwarts had the students thrive in a sense of community. It wasn't a great feeling watching everyone else have fun but you. Hogwarts had changed Cade into someone a little more extroverted. And he was sure it was a positive revelation rather than a negative one.

Suddenly he noticed the sound of clacking Gobstones. Heart lifting, he looked up and craned his neck around to land his eyes on a Hufflepuff second year. Cade had seen her around the corridors before and even knew her name. He wasn't sure if she knew of him but as both of them were involved with dueling, it was worth the effort to attempt a friendship.

"Alright, Willow? Fancy a game of Gobstones?" His dark brown hues swept over her bright salmon hair as he stood gangly and awkward before her. It was a bold move of him but spending an afternoon with someone new was better than spending it alone. What did he have to lose?

Willow had some free time between classes and with the weather warming up she was returning to her routine of spending most of her day when she could outside. But she had taken a turn from drawing or reading on this particular day to playing a game of gobstones! She had previously played a game in the gobstones club but it didn't go well, ending up with her momentarily blacking out from locking her knees up for too long. She missed playing the game and decided to get some practice in, solo style.

With her birthday coming up in two days, she had a lot on her mind. Especially since last year the night of her birthday resulted in a devastating fire in Hufflepuff. The ability to do something with her hands kept her mind from wandering too far from the task at hand. It even helped when a new prospect of a friend approached. He was a year under her and she vaguely recognized him from being part of the Ravenclaw duelling team. "Heya! Mm... Cade right?" Her brain had to scramble for the name, but luckily she had been pretty good at names. It was a skill she quickly developed in the whirlwind of meeting people at Hogwarts. "I'd love to! I'm not too good at it, but I will try and beat you anyway, so prepare to possibly maybe lose!" She quickly gathered her stones up and reset the game between them. "You're a first year right? How is Hogwarts treating you?" She knew her first year stressed her out beyond belief, hopefully he was having an ok time.

"That's right." He nodded. Pleased that the girl recognized him, Cade made himself comfortable sitting across from her. He watched as she quickly reset the game between them, his dark eyes admiring the Gobstones set. Cade liked to think of himself as an expert when it came to Gobstones, though in reality he was only a collector and never truly sat through a lot of games. He really had no one to play with but his little sister, and she wasn't so keen about the game as he was. Or as he tried to be. But today was his chance to set things straight and see if he actually was any good.

The first year Ravenclaw opened his Gobstones set and nosed through taking his time setting them down in their starting positions. "You can try." Cade smiled coyly, he wasn't going to admit to her his lack of experience. He would pose as the wizened professional. Besides, he'd studied the game enough to know which moves were great and which were sour. "Nothing for it anyway, I'm sure you'll do brilliantly." At last, his pieces were set and the game could begin. "You can move first." The wizard crossed his arms, gazing through dark bangs at her. He was interested to see how she would start off the game. Would she be daring? Or perceptive and timid?

"Hogwarts isn't exactly what I expected. It's been brutal, to say the least." Cade grinned. As he thought over the past months and all the shenanigans he got involved in, some fun and others.... not as fun. He made good friends and great enemies already! He'd joined Dueling and Mystical Creatures. He'd even joined a band. Not bad for only a few months. Who knew what the full term would bring. Cade's intense dark eyes flitted over the courtyard, spying on other groups and admiring the upper-class witches and wizards. "A lot of stories to tell when I get home for the summer holiday."

Willow quirked an eyebrow when he offered to let her go first, she wasn't sure if it was strategy or just politeness but either way Willow started to consider her first move. In her opinion the first move could really set the tone for a game, especially if it went spectacularly well. Her consideration paused when he talked about his experience at Hogwarts so far.

A small giggle couldn't help but come out as she sadly agreed with him. "Yeah it is... Rough. Especially growing up as a muggle born I felt like I had a lot of catching up to do once I got here. Everything feels so... new." She shrugged and returned her attention to the gobstone pieces. "At least you're getting involved though. I actually did Quidditch my first year before switching to duelling. I liked it but it just... wasn't my thing, you know? Duelling gives me an opportunity to practice my spell casting so I can hone a skill that I feel like I struggle with sometimes." A small blush colored her cheeks. Her inadequacy in spell casting wasn't one that she really talked about often, or at all. Its not that she was bad at it, but she knew she could do better.

After stalling long enough she concentrated on the piece she was trying to knock out and threw her gobstone onto the field.
