A Sneak Peek Into Our Family
Summer break had just started. A year ago, Rose would have been at Hogwarts' Summer Camp, enjoying her time there. But this year, the summer camp was in August, and Rose wasn't going. It had been weird to not wake up in her dorm room, and to not reuse the same outfits through the week. It had been strange to have nothing that she would have to do for days on end. She could do whatever she wanted. But the most strange thing about summer break was that Rose hadn't seen her friends. She usually didn't really have to think about it. She would just go sit with somebody if she felt like it. Say hi to them in the hall or partner with them during class. But she couldn't see them when she was at home all day. She would have to owl them, to make plans and arrangements, and that just felt strangely wrong.
Okay, that was usually the weirdest part about the summer break. This summer was different, though. This summer her mom was getting married.
Wait- I don't think you feel the weight of it.
Her mom was getting married.
That was the weirdest thing this summer. Usually she tried not to really think about it- to cast it from her mind and ignore it. But as the wedding approached, the wedding was like a weight on her chest that she couldn't shake. It was coming, and it wasn't just going to disappear. Her mother was starting to pack up everything that wasn't essential to their living in the house. She had held a bridal shower, and Rose and her sisters had gone along for dress shopping for their mother, finally picking a dress after hours of looking. Their mother was putting the final touches on her wedding, which was coming up so soon. Way too soon.
By far, the best part about being on summer break was that she was reunited with her little sister, Jessica. She hadn't seen her, except for on breaks, and she knew that she had been lonely. She was so glad to see her again, and they had been spending time together to make up for most of the last year.
But for now, Rose was in her backyard. She was laying down in the grass. Her mom kept saying that it needed to be mowed, but Rose strongly disagreed. She thought it was perfect that it was long and she could nestle inside. She was laying on her back, with her face facing the sun. Her eyes were closed, but every once in a while, she would crack open her eyes to watch the clouds drift across the blue sky. She knew Chaska was around here somewhere- the last place she had seen her was in the tree in the backyard, chasing the squirrels. In this moment, everything just felt so perfect. It was warm and sunny, and she could just feel herself completely relaxed, splayed out in the grass, her worries aside. She could be sleeping, or she could just simply be resting. Rose herself didn't really know, and she didn't really care, either. Her arms were behind her head and her legs were crossed, her feet without socks or shoes.
Her mother had been extremely busy the last few days, but had made a point to eat dinner with them every night. She wasn't sure why, but she did appreciate it anyway. Rose knew it was around five-thirty now, so her mom should be coming home soon from work.
Somebody else was coming, too, though! Rose's eyes snapped open, and she sat up abruptly. In her resting, she had almost forgot that Henry was coming over! She had been looking forward to it since they had planned it, and she had actually hand-cooked some food for him, since she didn't just want to warm up leftovers on their first night staying together. It was like his orientation on their coming sibling-ship. She rushed inside. Laying in the sun, she must have just forgotten.

A Sneak Peek Into Our Family
Summer Holiday has arrived. Students would be seeing family again after a year away. Writing letters to friends from school. Enjoying the summer sun on the back of their necks. Taking a well deserved relaxation.
Henry Knight wasn't looking forward to a lot that summer holiday. He knew he would be moving again and his father would be marrying that holiday. He knew he would have step siblings and his twin wouldn't be around that holiday. However he didn't expect what happened in the first few days of the holiday to happen.
His elder brother; Arthur met him at the train station and took him home. Home what a funny way to describe the place that one lives. The townhouse was full of boxes and half of it was packed already, Henry was expecting they won't be spending a lot of time there that summer. This would be his second time moving and was started to get use to it, packing up photos and belongings then taking them out and setting them up in a new place. Although the teen wondered where they would be moving to this time.
However Henry was expecting that the next day he would spend with his brother and father running errands for the wedding, getting suits, setting up last minute preparations, and then having fun as well. Like going to a ice shop together or a book store.
It was a odd experience for the thirteen year old especially since he wasn't the closest with his father. Well the man did try to work extra hours and avoid going home in the past so that could be the reason.
The morning of the 3rd was strange but welcoming to Henry. He wrote out a few letters to his friends from Hogwarts; Logan Baird, Cash Ironwoods, Paige Grant, Alexa Mackenzie, and Scarlett Aden. It wasn't a lot that morning just to a few of his close friends who he couldn't meet at the library or the courtyard like they did when they were at Hogwarts.
After breakfast, the teen changed to find his father took a day off work to spend work him and his older brother. It was different but actually a fun experience, the three took the floo network to diagon alley where they stopped at the bookstore and Henry got himself 4 new books. Their next stop was new robes for his elder brother; Arthur who had his auror exams nearing that holiday.
After they found themselves exiting diagon alley and heading toward big ben, the clock tower located in London. Along the way they stopped at a local cafe for lunch where Henry discussed his second year with his father and brother which involved a few questions from each especially when he got to parts on the slytherin dueling team, his grades, detentions he received that year, and his crushes.
Afterwards they started to head back to Liverpool where the three spotted a muggle gokart place and decided to try it out. Arthur drove the best at the beginning but once Henry figured it out, he was able to race his brother and found it to be a amazing place. The thirteen year old spent around a hour driving around the track, smiling as he turned each corner.
It was noon when the three world arrive back at the townhouse which was when the best day took a sour turn.
Henry faced his father, blue eyes in disbelief and back straight as he couldn't believe what his tears was hearing from the man.
"It will only be four days and will be better for you Henry instead of staying here alone," Luke finished as he looked down at his youngest son and took a step forward and tried to comfort him unfortunately Henry took a step back as he spoke" so what was this morning and yesterday then? You didn't want to get to know me or change! You probably wanted me to not be upset or emotional when you shipped away!" That morning and yesterday was fleeting memories now as Henry took another step away from his father, the teen remembered a time when he wanted his father's approval and when he wanted to be close with that man. However now that he was older and he seemed his father so easily replace his old family with a new one, Henry no longer cared about either.
Arthur would start to move around the kitchen counter that divided the living room and kitchen but Luke held his hand up to him silently telling him to stop as he the man looked at Henry and spoke" yesterday and this morning was a start to change our relationship, you had fun right?" Henry held his arms by his side and diverting his blue gaze elsewhere as his father's voice continued" no one is going to be here for the next few days, Arthur has his auror examination and I have work. I'll also be busy during off hours with the search for Anna and with all the packing I thought it might be beneficial for you to stay with a friend and also have a chance to get to know them they will be your family soon."
Henry watched Luke inch closer to him, holding his right hand out to him only Henry took a step back as he spoke" beneficial for you! So you don't want to deal with me or have a constant of reminder of what you are searching for!" Arthur looked toward his little brother and took a few steps closer as he could see what was about to happen.
"And you won't change! Your going to change for them but not for us! So go ahead, go off with your new family and forget about us! Would it be better if I ran off like Anna did as well, Father," Henry spoke in a louder voice, a but high pitched due to his British accent but not considered a scream yet as his father opened his mouth to reply only for Henry to take a breath and for the first ever he interrupted his father as he spoke "If I ran away like Anna would that be more beneficial for you! Would it make your life easier! Maybe I should take a page out of Anna's book and run away! I know your thinking that father!" Henry felt his chest tightened as his breathing got harder, Luke approached his youngest son with a his right hand out in a attempt to grab his shoulder as he spoke" Henry-"
Henry stepped away from the man as he quietly spoke" just leave me alone, " Henry turned on his heel and ran toward the narrow hall where the stairs sat. He raced up them and Arthur looked at Luke who looked back at his eldest son.
Henry swung the door up and slammed it shut behind him, his breathing heavily as he paced to his bed side where then he slammed his hand against the drawers of his nightstand causing Loki to look up at him from the seated position the orange feline was in on the teen's bed.
A irrational outburst of emotional caused by his raging anxiety and the monster within, the monster clawing at the bars desperate to be free but Henry wouldn't let it.
"Sorry Loki," Henry spoke softly to the orange feline as he sat in the side of his bed, hands resting on his knees and eyes trained downward letting his hair fall in front as thoughts started to spiral around his mind.
Henry heard his door creaked open, Arthur followed him up and close it leaving a pinch open. Then thirteen year didn't look up or move when his older brother walked over, taking a seat besides him on the bed.
Henry felt his brother's hand on his shoulder as he spoke" go away," Arthur remained next to Henry, removing his hand from his shoulder and rest his hand on his knees as well before he spoke" He does love us, its just harder for him to show it than it is for other parents," Henry didn't reply instead he fiddled with his fingers as he kept his blue gaze aimed at the floor.
"He doesn't wish you were gone to, trust me Anna disappearance is already hard enough for him," Arthur spoke and Henry listened, that's all he could do. Any words that he wanted to say didn't seem like they were making it to his mouth ad his head throbbed with spirals of thoughts.
Arthur would look over at his brother and smile a little as he spoke" spend a few days at their house was actually my idea, I thought it would be fun for you and less stressful then being here," Henry would run his hands through his hair, setting them resting on the back of his neck as he replied" why can't I stay with you then at your place?" The young teen would move his hands to his side, tracing his sheets with his fingers as his blue gaze moved to his brother's brown one.
Arthur would move his hand to his shoulder and squeeze it once as he spoke" I wish you can but I won't be there much and I don't want you hanging around with my friends that much since their not the greatest influence," Henry nod slightly and moved his eyes downward again as he traced his sheets with his fingers. Arthur would squeeze his shoulder a bit as he moved closer to his younger brother before speaking" plus I thought you have more fun at your friends house, just give it a chance and it might surprise you merlin. I can even take you, I was thinking by muggle car?" Henry rolled his eyes a little playfully at his older brother as he nodded slowly to him moving his head to meet his eyes.
Arthur would playfully ruffle his younger brother's hair as he rose from the bed before speaking" then you need to pack for four nights and five days," Henry would looked behind him at his feline as he asked his brother, " Is Loki coming to?" Arthur would wrap his arms around Henry and pull him off the bed, knocking him.a bit as he squeezed him and spoke" sure but you need to pack so come on," Arthur would ruffle Henry's hair a bit as he step to his closet where he pulled out a duffle bag and a back pack.
The two brothers would pack the bags which didn't last more than a few minutes. Packing Loki's food, bowls, and some toys while leaving out his harness and leash. Also stuffed in the bags were clothes, pajamas, toothbrush and tooth paste, comb, a few books, muggle ipod, and a few other items.
Henry would slip the harness onto Loki and clip the leash on, the orange feline then jumped onto Henry's right shoulder and would remain seated there.
Henry took his backpack and Arthur held onto his younger brother's duffle bag as the both went through the stairs and entered back into the living room. Boxes surrounded the place, most of it was packed up and in the middle of it all standing in front of the door was there father.
Luke would approach the two as he smiled a little and spoke" the car is outside for you both and Henry please have fun, I'll see you in a few days," with that the man checked his watch and would walk toward the fireplace as he spoke" late to a meeting, I must be going but safe travels boys and I'll see you tonight Arthur."
Luke would disappear engulfed in green flames when Henry felt Arthur squeeze his shoulder a little. The two would leave the townhouse in Liverpool and board a muggle taxi car for a four hour drive to Poplar.
Henry enjoyed the ride quite a bit as he stared out at the passing scenery and engaged in conversation with his brother.
Eventually they got to Rose's house around 5:45, they would exit the taxi and pay the driver before walking up to Rose's front door. Loki sat on Henry's right shoulder in his harness and leash which was in the boy's hand with his backpack and Arthur held onto Henry's duffle bag, the older brother would knock on the door before putting his free hand on Henry's left shoulder as they waited for Rose or Pearl or Faith or Franklin or Gabe or Jess to answer the door.

A Sneak Peek Into Our Family
Rose set out the stuff for the pasta. Her siblings were so picky about all the food they ate, but at least they all liked pasta... in their different ways. Gabe drowned his pasta with Parmesan cheese, while Faith just liked butter on hers. Frankie had a specific ratio in which he liked his pasta and marinara sauce, and he used measuring spoons to achieve that ratio. Jessie wanted something different every time. Butter, marinara sauce, Parmesan- it differed every time. She had even demanded pesto just to try something different and new, and so they still had half a jar since after two times of eating it, she had decided she didn't like it. Her siblings were weird like that. Rose didn't mind it either way (except for Gabe's way,) and unless it was just her and one other sibling, she would just use the marinara sauce, but in no specific ratio or anything. Her mom would do the same, not being super picky about it all. She laid it all out- bowls, the finished, steaming pasta, the sauce, the cheese.
Then she sat in the dining room at one of the tables, waiting in anticipation for Henry to arrive.
Chaska came inside, her eyes on the door. She turned to Rose and meowed. Rose furrowed her eyebrows. "What? Is he here?" Chaska meowed again, louder, sounding more annoyed this time. It was as if she was trying to tell Rose something. Rose stood up, walking towards the door. Before she even got there, there was a knock on the door, giving her a rush of excitement. She turned towards Chaska, who was giving her a knowing look. Rose's last two strides to the door were extra-fast, and she opened the door, seeing Henry with Loki on his shoulder.
"Henry!" he said, excited, hugging him, if he would let her. If he didn't, she would smile and respect that. "Hey!" Turning to Arthur, she smiled at him and said, "Hi, Arthur. Are you staying for dinner or are you just-"
Thunder seemed to roll down the stairs, making Rose jump a little bit, and she was soon joined by her two younger siblings.
"Henry's here!" Gabe yelled roughly, catching sight of the Slytherin.
Rose stepped back, holding the door open. "Come on in," she said. "It's really good to see you, Henry, you have no-"
Just then, Rose was once again interrupted by a flash of green from the fireplace over in the living room and a coughing Pearl. She was still wearing her emerald green Healer robes, and she stepped into the kitchen. "Henry! Arthur! It's good-"
Faith, however, had come down the stairs way too fast, and crashed into her mother. She noticed Henry a few seconds later. "Oh hi Henry! How's it going?"
Pearl, noticing that Rose had made dinner instead of her, looked over to her middle child. "Thanks for making dinner," she said, coming over to Rose and giving her a kiss on her head. She turned to Henry and Arthur. "Are you guys huggers?" She looked around. "Where's Frankie?"
Jessica gave a huge sigh. "He says that he is 'not to be disturbed, under the most dire of circumstances, as he is writing an important letter.' He won't let us in his room," she said, almost in a whiny voice.
Rose rolled her eyes a little bit. "Sorry about them," she murmured softly to Henry. Her house was so chaotic. She knew that Henry would be okay, but she still didn't want to overwhelm him this early in his visit with them. "Do you like pasta?" she asked him, gesturing to the stuff she had set out. "You didn't really touch the soup when you were over here last, so I wanted to make sure that you had something to eat while you're over here."
Henry had mentioned skipping meals a couple times in the last year, and she was determined to not let him do that. She would make sure he ate at least something. He was one of her brothers, now. Even if not by blood or marriage yet, he was. And, just like she would with her brothers, she would protect Henry through anything. Whether it was making him eat, supporting him, or just listening on a bad day, she would do anything to make sure that Henry was okay.

A Sneak Peek Into Our Family
Loki sat on Henry Knight's shoulder still and patiently. Waiting for the door to open.
Henry looked up at his brother, thought from earlier rushed through his mind. The words that he shouted at his father, the fight. All coming back. All of it.
Henry felt his brother squeeze his shoulders and he turned back to the door at the right moment since it opened to reveal a set of red hair. Rose stood there with Chaska by her heels.
"Hey," Henry replied back then felt the girl hug her. He wasn't much for physical contact but didn't push her away, he hug her back a bit to as Arthur spoke" hello, Rose." The teen would retake his spot next to Henry as they listened to Rose's words but were cut off but the sound of footsteps come down the stairs. The only part that Henry might have been not looking forward to was the fact he would be living in a house with seven people. The noise would be one problem.
Fortunately Gabe was one of the ones he liked as he smiled to the boy and spoke" Hey Gabe," before turning toward Rose as she tried to speak again while Henry, Arthur, and Loki walked inside the home which was rather small but homely.
However the girl would be cut off again as Arthur shut the door for her and said" allow me to help," then turning back to stand by Henry with Loki still on his shoulder as another joined them.
The fireplace flashed green and a blonde in emerald robes stepped out and entered the room.

Arthur put his hand back on Henry's free and closet shoulder as the lady started to speak but oddly got cut off by her own children. It was hard not to laugh but the two boys managed. Either shown emotions besides a smile, hiding emotions must have been a Knight skill.
Faith was downstairs and speaking now, Henry however would choose to remain silent and take a step closer to Arthur as usual as the older boy spoke" hello Faith, how have you been?" Then again another voice as Pearl thanked Rose for making dinner, looking over and Henry saw she made pasta. A simple dish. It reminder the boy when he made pasta for himself and his twin during the days they were left at home alone before Hogwarts. Anna used to drown her pasta in marinara sauce and parmesan claiming that she was 'bulking' up for the Hogwarts quidditch teams.
Henry smiled a bit at the memory before feeling Arthur's grip tighter and he moved closer when Pearl addressed them. Asking a question. Henry could tell something was wrong with his brother, almost like he was remembering past memories that he didn't want to think about as the boy put on a smile and hand out a gentle hand saying" it's nice to see you again Pearl and our fathers says hi among other things. Also he looks forward to see you tomorrow for the cake and wine testing for the wedding." The boy remained calm but Henry couldn't help but wonder what he was thinking about.
However when Jess said that Frankie was writing a impatient letter. Henry was curious and questioned who it could be, his first thought was Anna since the girl wrote to him last but he didn't think it was since the boy could write to anyone. Henry however remained silently and made a mental note to ask Frankie later as he scratched Loki ears a bit and smiled over at Chaska.
Henry only nodded toward Rose, something about him was when he was with his brother than he appeared more introverted and quiet. Letting his brother do the talking, it was something that happened for years.
"It seems like its controlled chaos here," Arthur joked and squeezed Henry shoulder a bit more. Henry allowed him and inched closer as Loki gave a short meow and Arthur spoke" Henry brought Loki, hopefully that's fine." They would wait for a response before Henry would give a short whistle and Loki jumped from his shoulder to the ground, landing gracefully on his feet. Henry kneel down and slipped the harness off the feline, standing and slipped it into his backpack before slinging it over his shoulder.
Loki went over and sniffed at Chaska, batting her head once before siting down besides the cat. Henry felt his brother warp his arm around him.and heard his voice" Henry can be rather studious preferring books over food or eating," sharing a smile between the two brothers before Arthur turned to Pearl as he spoke" it was nice seeing you, Pearl but I best be off. I'm studying with my friend's tonight for our exams on disguise and concealment tomorrow." Arthur would smile toward Pearl before turning toward Henry and hugging him with one arm as he whispered to him, " you'll be fine, just breath and relax."
Henry nodded and returned the half hug to his brother, watching Arthur smile and give a wave to the others before retrieving his wand from his pockets and with a small pop the boy was gone.
Henry held onto his backpack and duffle bag now, given to him by Arthur as he looked around finding eye contact with Rose as he spoke" I like pasta I guess," moving his bags a bit as he asked" is there somewhere I could put my bags."

A Sneak Peek Into Our Family
Henry and Arthur came into the house. Rose felt like facepalming at the situation, but with five kids, people got interrupted a lot, honestly.
"Hey," Gabe would reply to Henry, with a grin.
Faith smiled at Arthur a little, appreciating his question. "Good, thanks."
Pearl would come over to shake Arthur's hand instead, an answer to the question about their physical touch preferences. She then seemed to light up when she heard about her fiancee. "Oh, thank you, Arthur. I do look forward to seeing him tomorrow," she said, beaming.
But all Rose could think about was- "among other things?!" It could have just been something like "I love you" or "The stars don't hold your beauty," or something. But Rose did get a little caught on the "among other things" part. What was that supposed to mean?
Arthur said something about controlled chaos, and Rose shook her head, saying only loud enough for the two Knights to hear, "More like just regular chaos." At the comment about Loki, she said, "That's wonderful, no problem." She reached over to let the tabby cat sniff her, and scratched the top of his head a little bit. "Good to see you, bud," she said softly.
Chaska started to climb up her leg, using Rose's clothes as her clawholds. "What- Chaska-" Rose said, picking up the fluffball. Chaska was now closer to her goal and climbed onto Rose's shoulder, trying to mimic Loki. She was a little bit smaller than Loki was, but Rose was smaller than Henry was, too. Chaska's fluff ended up in Rose's face and she pulled the cat off, with great protest and flailing paws from Chaska. Rose dropped the cat on the floor, and Chaska landed on her feet with grace, as she always did. She scrunched her nose up at the redhead, but then was joined by Loki, so she forgot about being mad at Rose. She dodged his paw and then rubbed her cheek against his. As he sat down beside her, she decided to tackle him. It was a gentle tackle, and was meant only playfully, and she wasn't quite strong enough to really knock him over. Only if he wanted to be knocked over, he would.
Gabe huffed dramatically at Arthur's words about not eating that much. "Well, we're gonna make him eat whether he likes it or not," he told Arthur, his voice joking.
Arthur then proceeded to tell them goodbye, and Pearl replied, "It was great to see you, too, Arthur. Best of luck on your exams, though I doubt you'll need it. Have a good night!" her words were followed by a chorus of "bye"s from the Moon children.
Right after Arthur disapparated, there was a loud thud. Of course, apparating shouldn't make that sound, but it wasn't Arthur at all. A bird had just faceplanted into the window of the kitchen. "I think it's Jess' turn," Rose said, furrowing her brow.
"I'll get him," Jessica called, coming past Rose and Henry and going out the door, just as the owl started to slide down the window.
"I think you can put your bags in the family room for now," Rose told him, in response to his question.
She came back in the house with the dizzy and disgruntled owl cradled in her arms. He was blinking, trying to become more aware of his surroundings, and he lifted his head a little. Jessica let him perch on her arm, and he swayed, flapping his wings a little to stay upright. "You've got to stop doing that," she told him playfully.
Rose turned to Henry to introduce the owl. "Meet Doofus. He's the family owl. Gabe and Jess argue whether his full name is Doofenshmirtz or Doofassa. It doesn't really matter what you wanna call him." Doofus finally noticed that Henry was there. He made a little sound and cocked his head a little at the newcomer.
Pearl had gone to the window to go look out. "I always hope that the neighbors never see him. We don't want them to get suspicious."
Chaska had never seemed to like Doofus very much. Rose thought it was more about him getting more attention than she did. She normally treated him like he was one of her royal servants, not to disrupt anything in her life. In the couple days that they had been back, Chaska had become more accepting of Doofus' presence, even if she didn't exactly want him to be there. Rose sure hoped she wouldn't be like that with Loki, but she already liked him pretty much, so Rose was pretty sure it would be fine.
"Anyway!" Pearl clapped her hands. "I guess we should eat at the table since it's messy-" Protests erupted from Rose's siblings, and while they were busy arguing and complaining, Rose leaned over to Henry.
"Where do you wanna sleep? We have an air mattress and some extra sleeping bags, so you can either bunk with one of us kids, sleep in the family room, or we can kick Gabe out of his room and he can sleep on the couch," she explained all his options. She really hoped to make him comfortable here.
As Pearl shooed the arguments out of the conversation, everyone rushed forward to feed themselves. Rose murmured to Henry, "It might be better to hang back till the rush dies down."

A Sneak Peek Into Our Family
Loki is a strange feline, much like his owner. The orange feline was young, barley under a year now but wasn't as playful or reckless as other cats seemed to be.
Loki could be playful when he wanted to be, he could be affectionate when he wanted to be, and he could be mischievous when he wanted to be. However when he wasn't or when he was deciding, the feline seemed to be listening into the conversations and thinking about what to do. The feline seemed intelligent and understand human actions or appeared to since he still had trust issues.
Henry watched Loki remained sitting up, not allowing Chaska to knock him over. The orange feline looked over the fellow feline and patted her head with his paw before stretching his back and going to explore the family room and kitchen occasionally looking back to see if Chaska was following him and still wanted to play.
Apparently something hit the window, Henry thought it was a owl from the sound and reaction to it ad he nodded toward Rose and moved over to the couch. Placing his two bags on top of the couch before doing a low whistle for a few seconds and then watching as Loki came padding toward him.
The feline would take a seat besides his owner, reach his paw out toward Chaska and sway a few times at her head. Once he would hit her once or twice, the feline would stop and turned his amber eyes to the conversation and chaos. Listening to them.
It was a owl. Henry along with Loki watched the small blonde girl carry in a odd looking owl before it perched onto Jess's arm. Henry smiled a little at it, the owl was clumsily and adorable a bit of a change from the strictness of Apollo and Arthur's barn owl; Sandy.
However Loki looked at the owl and cocked his head, the feline seemed to be taken back to why the owl was making noises and being given attention. The feline was use to silent and slightly larger owls than Doofus and was looking a bit forward, placing his front paws in Jess's knees as he sniffed the owl before retreating back to his spot next to Henry. Where Loki would bat say Chaska once and give a short, soft meow toward the fellow meow.
"Doofus looks cool, is he old? Is that the reason he has a difficult time flying?" Henry asked trying to figure out specific reasons to why the owl was crashing into things and could fly straight apparently, the teen would wait for them to answer before speaking" He certainly has character and is quite different from Apollo, " the young teen would look over toward Pearl as he explained" Apollo is my father's or our family owl, he's a great horned owl." The blue eyed teen wild then look back toward Rose as he softly smile toward the girl as his fingers slipped into his jean pockets and emotions remained hidden behind his barrier.
"I'm not going to uh kick Gabe out of his own room, but you mates all have your own rooms?" Henry asked Rose as his orange feline jumped up to his right shoulder where Loki sat. Henry smiled toward his feline as he turned to Rose, nodding toward the girl a bit as he spoke" hanging back sounds good, who do you reccomend to bunk with."

Chaska was patted on the head after her unsuccessful attempt to knock over the larger cat. He stretched and went off to explore. Chaska bounded after him. Rose, for a moment, imagined Chaska rambling about the house, giving Loki a full tour that he hadn't ever asked for. Rose often liked to imagine her cat was a person. If Chaska was a person, she would be selectively chatty. Sometimes she would talk her face off, and sometimes she would sit in elegant silence. Chaska was still young, Rose knew, and was slowly but surely maturing. As Henry came through the kitchen to sit on the couch with Loki, Chaska climbed up on the couch, standing on the top of the back of the couch. Loki batted at her a little bit, and she was able to bounce out of his reach right before he hit her.
Loki seemed curious about Doofus, looking up at the reddish owl by putting his paws on Jess' knees. Doofus looked down at him, bending over a little to look at the cat. His eyes locked on Loki and then looked up at Henry. He gave a small hoot of greeting. At the comment that he looked cool, Doofus hooted again, in pleasure this time, tucking his wings in by his side. It was as if he was saying, "Yes, I do look cool. Thank you for noticing." Rose smiled at him.
Frankie brushed his hair out of his eyes, his own equivalent of pushing up his glasses. "Doofus is only, at most, ten years old. He was a present for Faith as she was entering her first year, and though we didn't know his age, we estimated him to be around five years old," Frankie stated matter-of-factly. "As you must know as a fellow scholar, owls live to a maximum of approximately twenty-five years and-"
"He's not old, he's just clumsy. Thus the name Doofus," Gabe cut in, earning a glare from his brother. "What? You were taking to long to explain." He shrugged.
"I still think Daisy would have been a better name," Jessie murmured.
Faith rolled her eyes. "Doofus is a guy. We were not naming him Daisy."
Henry said something about Apollo, his father's owl. "Apollo is a cool name," she said. Rose nodded at his question. "Yeah." She paused, looking down. "They're super small and some of them weren't in the original house plan, if you know what I mean, but... yeah." Rose remembered when she was little and she had to share a room with Jess. She used to complain because she didn't want to be grouped with one of the "little kids," even though she was one. Her mother thought it was important for each of them to have their own space, since she had appreciated it when she was a kid. Sometimes, looking back on her mother, Rose realized maybe she wasn't so bad...
But no, that didn't cancel out the fact that she was engaged without even caring what Rose and her siblings thought about it.
"Definitely not either of the girls, or Frankie. Faith and Jess will try to coax some romance out of you and Frankie will want to talk to you and answer all your questions about life," Rose explained. Her last comment about Frankie indicated that she didn't actually think that he had questions about life, but that Frankie would want to answer them anyway. "I would really suggest Gabe. He usually goes to sleep the fastest. He also thinks you're really cool, so he'll do practically anything to make you happy. You can also bunk with me if you want, as long as you're comfortable with it."
That's when the music started up in the background. Rose knew Frankie would start it.
Gabe came up to Henry, with a towel over his arm. Gabe was quite the showman, starting the song.
"Ma chère Monsieur! It is with deepest pride and greatest pleasure that we welcome you tonight. And now, we invite you to relax." Rose and her siblings ushered Henry towards the kitchen/dining room. "Let us pull up a chair!" Faith pulled out a chair and would push Henry in as he sat down. "As the dining room proudly presents..."
There was a flourish in the music and Jess came up to Henry with a plate and a bowl on top of it, the closest they could find to those fancy metal serving-thingies. She placed it down in front of him.
"Your dinner."
Jessie lifted the bowl, revealing the pasta underneath.
Then all five of them broke out into song. "Be our guest!
Be our guest!
Put our service to the test!
Tie your napkin 'round your neck, chérie,
And we'll provide the rest!"
Faith ushered their mother to the table to sit as well. Rose and her siblings had actually forgotten that their mother was going to be there at that time, and they must have assigned Faith the job of sitting her down. She looked entirely clueless but also pleasantly surprised.
"Soupe du jour!
Hot hors d'œuvre!
Why, we only live to serve!
Try the grey stuff, it's delicious!"
At each of the three foods that were listed, salt, pepper, and pasta sauce was placed on the table. No, they weren't what they were listing, but this wasn't France either.
Gabe took up his solo again, saying, "Don't believe me? Ask the dishes!
They can sing!
They can dance!
After all, Sir, this is France!"
Rose and her siblings, acting like the dishes, did a simple but well done dance. You could kind of tell that Frankie had been roped into the dance, and Jessie thought this was her moment to show off.
They all joined in singing again, a little harmony sung by Faith and Rose at the end of the first phrase.
"And a dinner here is never second best!
Go on, unfold your menu!
Take a glance and then you'll
Be our guest!
Oui, our guest!
Be our guest!"
Since Jessie had insisted on her own solo, she entered in for a few lines, holding three more condiments on a "platter" (a plate) and placing them on the table dramatically.
"Beef ragoût!
Cheese soufflé
Pie and pudding 'en flambé'!"
The rest of them joined in for the next part.
"We'll prepare and serve with flair
A culinary cabaret!"
On "flair," they all did jazz hands. Since Jessie had decided that everybody needed a solo, Faith took the next part, sounding significantly less like she was showing off than Jessie had.
"You're alone
And you're scared
But the banquet's all prepared!"
After she sang, Faith mouthed, "Not really," signifying that they didn't really think he was alone and scared, but that it was just part of the song.
"No one's gloomy or complaining
While the flatware's entertaining!"
Gabe entered in again, his showmanship shining through.
"We tell jokes!
I do tricks!
With my fellow candlesticks!"
They all joined in, another harmony by the older girls entering in.
"And it's all in perfect taste
That you can bet!
Come on and lift your glass!

If you're stressed,

The music slowed down, Gabe coming to the front again, with his hand over his heart.
"Life is so unnerving
For a servant who's not serving
He's not whole without a soul to wait upon..."
Gabe waved his arm out next to him as if he was feeling for someone. Faith pushed Frankie up to stand beside Gabe, and Gabe linked his arm through Frankie's. Frankie obviously didn't want to be Cogsworth, but he was actually very good at his part.
"Ah, those good old days when we were useful, hey Cogsworth?
Suddenly those good old days are gone...
Too long we've been rusting
Needing so much more than dusting
Needing exercise, a chance to use our skills
Most days we just lay around the castle
Flabby, fat and lazy...
You walked in and oops-a-daisy!"
It was Rose's turn now.
"It's a guest!

Rose placed a paper towel next to Henry's spot, folded up as if it was a fancy cloth napkin.
"With dessert

While the cups do their soft shoeing
I'll be bubbling, I'll be brewing!"
Rose did a little twirl.
"I'll get warm!
Piping hot!
Heaven's sakes! Is that a spot?"
Rose fanned herself, acting like she was about to faint, and pointed at Gabe's shirt.
"Clean it up! We want the company impressed!
We've got a lot to do
Is it one lump or two
For you, our guest?

The rest of them joined in again.

They lined up , tucking their arms behind each other, and did a kickline for the next part.

They separated, doing another peel-off.

The last note contained a huge chord in which Jessie had insisted on hitting the highest note, which she could actually only barely reach. Rose smiled as they were in their last pose.

Loki sat on Henry's right shoulder, overlooking the couch that Chaska sat on to bat at him. Loki allowed the felines paws to hit him as he pawed her head with his paw, similar to a older siblings patting thie younger siblings head.
Henry listened to Frankie and turned to Rose, looking at her as he wondered why Frankie was going into a whole explantion based off the one question he gave. The teen was a nerd and know it all himself to but he usually never started a explantion or paragraph because he was always to afraid to take up someone's time.
"Thanks, Gabe," Henry replied to Gabe who told him the owl was clumsy which was the soon to be third year believed. Then a siblings arguement on the owl's name started, the teen stayed back figuring that he shouldn't say anything. It felt awkward. Even if they would be his step siblings in a few days, something about it still didn't feel right. The teen took a step back and felt his thoughts spiral around his mind.
When the others left fro the dining room, Henry turned to Rose glad that it was just the two of them now. The teen smiled a little as he nodded a bit and replied" I understand that," the teen could barely remember back in godric hollow before moving... before the attack... their first home contained less rooms and their parents built it into a much larger house. Their mum designed the house then both adults destroyed the house and rebuilt the rooms.
"He does?" Henry asked Rose about Gabe thinking that he was cool, it was a odd thought and the young teen was questioning if it was true or fiction as he listened to Rose, nodding a little as he replied" bunking with Gabe or you sounds brilliant, I shared a room with my sister for a few years so it won't be awkward for me unless would it be awkward for you?" The young teen smiled toward Rose, starting to enjoy coming over to the house and spending time with Rose.
Henry smiled toward Rose when he turned his blue gaze to Gabe coming near him with a towel on his arm which was particular to the boy but not as much as the song that would follow esepcailly since he never have seen the movie; Beauty and The Best, that it came from.
Loki would have jumped from his owner's shoulder and onto the couch, pawing at Chaska's head for a moment before licking her head to clean it. The feline then gave a short feline and small but rather strange playbow to his feline mate.
Henry followed Gabe to the kitchen and was caught off guard by the sudden song, he would turn toward Rose confused. Wondering if this was normal for muggles before supper or if something strange was occurring.
The teen slightly stiffened up when Faith shoved him into the chair but relaxed as soon as the physical contact was done, Jess then approached with a dish being covered with a bowl that was out in front of him then revealed to be pasta.
They broke out into song again creating unique harmonies of their voices, the teen listened to the song still confused where it came from when Gabe had another solo then the five stayed to dance but not normally.... it was different and never seen the muggle movie, the teen thought it was strange but fun.
The five snag together and Henry thought their voices sounded nice and flowed together, his emotions still hidden behind the 'barrier' but a soft smile was now present on his lips as he listened to a harmony done by Rose and Faith.
Jess wasn't the best singer in the group however she seemed to be the most excited, still the young teen still smile softly to her solo, nodding a bit to her putting more different items on the table then the five sang together once again
They had a jazz hands moment then Faith's solo, the older girl had a nice singing voice and it sounded a lot more mature and natural than Jess's still the teen softly smiled as the five sang together again.
Even though he didn't know the song, this was is first time hearing it and decided this was the perfect way to learn about the song. Henry thought it sounded upbeat and fun, the five siblings even looked like they were having a good time as the teen felt smiled grow wider and wider.
Then it was Gabe's much longer solo and the teen was a bit confused from a few of the word choices, wondering what he meant in a few lines as he listened to him and bring a not happy Frankie in the solo with him. The lines were a bit confusing and Henry questioned them a bit but the song and Gabe's voice were both rather good so he continued to smile.
Then it seemed like it was Rose's turn, the teen heard her voice before from their frog choir practices but still enjoyed listening to it especially since the song is fun to listen to. However he didn't understand why there were a lot of references to tea?
The five sang the next part together, the song getting fast and Henry smile grew a bit wider as he was enjoying it almost... a little bit... he was having or starting to have fun that night. The teen watched and was quite impressive but also enjoyed their kick line then a nice slide into their final pose where Jess hit a high note that didn't sound great.
Silence
Silence only for a moment
The teen wasn't sure what to do at first then decided to do a awkward transitioning into a relaxed clapping for the five siblings as he spoke" that was bloody amazing, really wicked," the teen's British accent rather thick with his last sentence as he applauded the five siblings for a few more seconds then stopped. He would still smile as he looked at each sibling, ending with Rose as he asked" what is the song?"
There were a few comments and mumbles that the young teen caught and looked around as he asked" what did you say? What's beauty and the beast?"

Chaska gave a little mew at Loki as he patted her on her head, the older cat acting almost like an older sibling would. Those cats were so adorable together. Chaska brought out a different kind of Loki. Loki, not trusting almost anybody, had a select few that he was a little different with. Henry was his perch and his partner and Chaska was his playmate. Rose could still remember that day that Chaska and Loki had met, playing and fighting over the humans. Chaska had been so little then.
Rose grabbed Chaska and hugged her to her chest for a moment, then letting the Silver Siberian sit in her lap. Chaska's fur was quite long now, and she was over a year old. Rose knew the consequences of holding Chaska (being covered with long white hairs), but she knew it was always worth a ten to fifteen seconds of brushing hair off her clothes.
Gabe grinned at Henry and gave him a thumbs up in response to his thanks. Frankie still wasn't pleased, but he moved on from it quite quickly. Rose knew that Frankie had been wanting "somebody with brain cells" in the same building as him again. She smiled.
"Oh yeah," Rose confirmed. "He was waiting at his window for you to arrive, I think. He actually thought that the third of July was yesterday and cleaned up his room." She smirked and said, "That hasn't happened since Mom stopped checking our rooms."
"Nah," she said, with a smile. "You're my brother, so it wouldn't be awkward at all." Rose then realized that Henry actually wasn't her brother yet. She had forgotten it for a moment. He just felt so much like her brother, it had slipped her mind that technically, by blood or by marriage, he wasn't.
But in her heart, he felt more like family than she could ever remember somebody being.
Chaska closed her eyes, letting Loki lick the top of her head. Once he play-bowed (or as close as Rose had ever seen Loki get to a play-bow), Chaska bounced off the couch, bounding up a couple of the stairs and then looking behind her, as if she was waiting for Loki to follow her. Maybe she wanted to give him a tour, or maybe she just wanted to race up the stairs.
Their performance had been worked on every day since they had been on summer break. It had given them something to do, something to focus on, instead of the ever-looming wedding that only Faith seemed to want to happen. Even though she always acted like it, Rose knew that she wasn't any more enthusiastic for a step-family as any of the rest of them. Rose had wanted to make Henry feel at home when he had come, and this is exactly the kind of thing that they did on a daily basis.
Frankie had suggested it, actually. He had said something about how demanding the Knights were as guests, and that Henry probably expected a performance. He had said it very off-hand, not actually meaning that he wanted to participate in a musical number. Rose thought it was just a sarcastic joke on his part, but little did she know that he was referencing a conversation he had shared with the other Knight twin. If Rose thought about it, though, his comment had sounded almost... solemn.
Rose shook the thought away. It was probably nothing, right?
Henry and Pearl both broke into applause, and the five of them broke formation. At Henry's question, none of them seemed to want to step up at first, but then at his second question, Frankie spoke up, straightening his posture. "The song is from a film first produced in November of 1991 called-"
"It's a song called Be Our Guest from a Disney movie called Beauty and the Beast," Gabe interrupted again, his explanation once again much more efficient than Frankie's was going to be.
"You don't know what Beauty and the Beast is?" Jess exclaimed loudly, surprised.
"He was raised in a pureblood family, Jess, remember?" Rose said, rolling her eyes at her younger sister. In this moment, you could tell how significantly quieter her voice was in comparison to her siblings. It wasn't by much, but all of her family was so loud and Rose was more quiet than most people, so you could tell the difference if you paid attention. Rose knew that Henry paid attention more than most.
"We can watch it if you want," Gabe said to Henry. "I think we have a DVD somewhere..."

A Moment In The Past
Henry softly smiled at Gabe's thumbs up as the the group changes the subject and continued to talk loud enough for someone to have a near whispered conversation on the side without having to worry about interrupting the others.
Henry listened to Rose's words while Loki licked Chaska's head, somehow avoiding getting fur in his mouth since the feline did the act before with Kioshi and a few other felines that he manages to find. Henry looked over at Rose, questioning is her words were true or not as he replied in a whisper but playfully," and I just have to trust you that this is the truth," softly smiling at the girl for a moment before continuing, " at least his room is clean then."
However at Rose's next comment, the third year drifted his gaze downward a bit. They weren't siblings by blood or marriage yet, there was that rim of awkwardness around referring to each other that way but it felt almost natural to the teen to.
Moving his eyes to meet Rose's, something about thinking of her as a sister felt normal. Even though their blood and names would say otherwise, the red head felt like his sister. She was a part of his family, more than others and the feeling thay came with it was one they he hadn't felt in a while.
Loki stretched from his play bow before leaping off the crouch and slowly following Chaska up the stairs, the feline's amber eyes gazed around him examining each piece of the house.
Back To The Present
Henry applauded the performance, emotions still hidden by the 'barrier' so only the soft smile could be seen.
It was a funny and rather humorous performances to watch, the teen wasn't expecting it and felt bad that the group did it but they looked like they enjoyed it so that was good. The teen wasn't aware of the conversation his twin had with Frankie all those months ago, he wasn't even aware that the had been writing. After their fight on the last day of Christmas holiday, the two haven't been in contact since and now that she was missing they haven't seen each other in about a year.
Henry has no idea the relationship that Anna has with Frankie or their conversation that night, be remembered then talking but he didn't think anything of it. He didn't realize or thought to ask his twin before it was to late...
When Frankie started talking, Henry moved his blue eyes toward Gabe and softly smiled when the boy gave a shorter answer. Taking a moment to dwell on the boy's words before replying to him, " beauty and the beast? That's a story from the grim brother's but what's the song? And uh Disney? Aren't they the muggle company that does muggle movies like the one with the mouse and snow white?" The teen didn't grow up with a lot of friends, he grow up isolated in a pureblood household where he had to care for himself at times so while he knew a bit he didn't know everything about the muggle world.
The question was directed toward Gabe, as the teen looked toward him when he heard another voice. Turning his head to the rather loud and high pitched voice of the girl, Jess the teen was about to reply back when he heard a another and rather quieter voice speak up.
Rose. The teen noticed how differnt she was compared to the rest of her family, their hair and even the level of their voices were different. When Rose finished, the teen took a breath then replied" yes but I do know some muggle items and terms just not everything," the remark was mainly meant for Jess as he looked over toward Rose and softly smile and lightly mouth 'thanks' the others would miss it but she wouldn't. He knew she wouldn't.
The teen turned back toward Gabe as he wondered if he would be able to sit near the boy during dinner as he softly nodded toward his question and replied" only if you, mates want to watch it," luckily the teen learned what a muggle dvd was a year or to ago from a muggleborn friend that before last year he thought was a muggle.
