Listening was something that Sabrina was good at. She could listen to someone go on about anything they are passionate about for forever. The only person she would ever listen to their problems though, would be Reid. She usually wasn't to well with listening to people speak about things like that otherwise. She actually disregarded it most of the time. So as Reid spoke, she nodded her head to show that she was listening. She didn't need to say anything, there wasn't a response she could give that would improve the situation. The past is the past. She wouldn't be able to change it.

The boy's antics were interesting, to say the least. She ended up stopping in her tracks beside him, turning to face him as her eyebrows furrowed. He looked away from her, and she wondered if he was actually having a little trouble explaining things to her. Did he feel like she did sometimes? All she knew was that Bloom had somehow made it awkward between them. And in a way, she was feeling worried. What did she get like? Was she creepy towards him somehow? Oh, Merlin, did she kiss him? The thought made Sabrina scrunch her nose up in dismay, but she tuned back in to Reid once he began talking again.

"Touchy? She said she loved me and was really persistent about it too. Honestly, it's the potions fault. Now I feel weird around her, well I'm trying not to, yeah? What if Ben finds out?"

The surprise the struck across Sabrina's face was abrupt, and her jaw dropped. "She touched you? Without your permission? That isn't very nice, Reid." She mentioned, pointing to him as though it would make her point get across more efficiently. She could feel the tips of her ears turning red at the thought of it. Should eleven or twelve-year-olds be touching each other like that? Ugh, she didn't even want to think about it.

"She's a really nice person, Bloom. I'm comfortable around her most of the time. But after that incident, not as normally as I use to."

She couldn't help but to reply with a muttered, "I wouldn't feel comfortable either." She crossed her arms over her chest as she looked away from the Hufflepuff. The conversation made her feel embarrassed, and she wasn't even in the position to be the one embarrassed. She was desperate to change the conversation, but she was willing to listen to more of what he had to say, so instead she refrained.

"Things have gone wrong when I'm around, it sucks. I feel like a bad luck charm, is that weird to say? Like - a girl who I know named Felicity Greenwich fell and sprained her foot. Now I don't even see her anymore. Bloom got hurt almost three times around me I'm pretty sure. Plus the Hufflepuff campout trip went wrong too."

Sabrina had never felt so guilty before. Just how much did she miss while she and Reid weren't talking? It was like he had a whole separate life from her now. Was that what they were now? Separate live? Her hear throbbed at the idea, and her eyebrows furrowed as she followed the boy along the edge of the Great Lake. She hadn't been there for Reid when he needed her, and that was the worst feeling she could ever endure. The ending of it would be a liberation.

"All of this has happened since I came to Hogwarts."

Her arm reached out, clutching on to his wrist to stop their tread. She pulled him in for a hug, and leaned her head against his shoulder. She didn't have anything to say, because she knew that she would probably just start crying. So much had happened for him and... she hadn't been there. She should start making more time for him, proposing that they hang out more. She didn't want to see him like this again, didn't want to hear it all come out of his mouth again. She sighed, and shook her head slightly, "I'm sorry."

Rarely did he ever see himself so stressed, it was honestly scary. He never encountered being so high-strung before and it was like he was being hit with a wave of emotions. Reid would lie if he didn't feel like crying from simply wishing he was a better friend to everyone. Things just didn't seem to work out and it was the first time he's ever had to deal with it in his life, Derby was too safe for him. Plus, he hated making the people he cared about uncomfortable. It made him uncomfortable.

The boy seemed to live in some sort of perpetual discomfort in the last two weeks. Learning how to keep himself in check and to not cry over spilled milked felt like something he needed to learn. But for now, he had Sabrina and that meant more than anything right now. He felt her hands around his wrist, causing him to look over as she pulled him into a hug. Reid's face burned like a raging forest fire from embarrassment and leftover frustration, his best friend just saw him nearly toss a table.

The tense posture relaxed in her hug, it felt like a relief on his burn. Just like that, he leaned in and returned the hug with a gentle squeeze to accompany it. He awkwardly rested his forehead against her shoulder, sighing in response as he closed his eyes briefly. "Don't be sorry, it happens I guess. I'm just being a big crybaby." he mused, muttering his words against her fabric. Reid's eyes shot open as he yanked his head back after he realized how long he took. He sucked in his breath and tried to hide his awkwardness by breaking his grip.

The hug was a great feeling, it was something he didn't really get often from anyone by his parents. It actually made him tear up just a bit - maybe out of relief. He cleared his throat, looking away to slightly wipe his eyes with his sleeve. "You need to clean your shirt better, Hurst. I got something in my eye." he jested. His voice had a raspiness to it with a slight crack, oh man that was shameful. This mortified him slightly, to even cry ever so slightly around Sabrina.

But of the two, she always seemed to be the stronger one. Once the lump in his throat was gone, he ahem'd again as he dabbed the rest of the weird moisture in his eyes. He considered himself incredibly lucky to have someone like the redheaded girl, it was different when he was the one being offered the help. He would never want to take her for granted. "Thanks, Sab."

Hugging Reid didn't happen often, but when the event occurred where a hug was needed, Sabrina was there to do just that. She held him close for as long as she could, leaning her head on his shoulder as well. She had never witnessed him being so worked up before. Was that all that was bothering him? She sure hoped so, because if she had to go confront Bloom about something herself, she knew it wouldn't end well. "Hey, just know that you're my best friend for life! Right?" She asked once he pulled away from the lengthy hug. Not that she minded the longevity of the embrace, she quite enjoyed it, actually. The feeling resembled that of home. Maybe her home was within Reid Kovacs. "And you do a real good job at that."

She wasn't sure how reassuring people worked, or how she could improve the situation any further. The past was the past, and was there really anything the short-haired redhead could do about it? She bristled slightly, frustrated with herself for not being able to do more to help her friend. She hoped that this was enough. A laugh escaped her, filling up her chest as she shook her head at her best friend, starting to walk in the direction they had been heading beforehand before she replied. She looked over her shoulder as she spoke, raising her eyebrows at the brown-haired boy. "Definitely not my shirt, Kovacs, but you can definitely try to convince yourself that." She thought getting back to teasing could be one of the easier ways to push past the conversation - maybe move onto something happier. But it was moving on to sunset now, and they ought to be getting to the Great Hall for dinner.

Sabrina, on the other hand, didn't want to go back quite yet. She wanted to stay out, enjoy the sunset. Would Reid skip dinner with her? Probably. She didn't even have to ask, she bet. But would she be willing to allow him to skip a meal, potentially making him unhealthy to a point? Definitely not. Maybe that was something she got from her mother, making sure everyone was healthy and happy. And if there was anything that Sabrina could do to make it so, you could bet that she would already be starting on it. "We should head back to the castle," She sighed as she stopped in her tracks, turning to face the Hufflepuff boy again, "Dinner will be soon, and I heard that it might be good tonight."

The mention of food lit his features like a candle on Christmas. He had tried to forget all about his frustrations and simply let Sabrina distract him this one bit. The bad feelings were cast aside, thrown into the bin for another day for him to toy with. Reid didn't understand why he let it take such a grip of him, he didn't want to end up being so negative. He was young, he should be enjoying his time at Hogwarts as much as he can.

But so far it has been a bit of a rocky start for the young twelve year old. Yet with his friends by his side, he didn't think it would be too bad. It certainly won't be so bad when he was with Sabrina, she was good company. This was one of those few times where he reeled at his emotions, it was annoying and he hated acting so weirdly around his best friend. But then again, he didn't really have much control over them as much as he hoped he would.

It was only in high points of tension that they always came out, the last time it came out was when he got infuriated by a boy for kicking a football at him on purpose. "Well, if that's the case ..." Reid dashed forward, running past Sabrina as he made a beeline for the castle. "See you at dinner then, Hurst!" he howled, laughing as he did so. She was probably going to beat him at the race, but it was just like Derby and he could at least try. But he wanted to taunt her further and stir the pot, the running would at least help him want to eat more in the end. "Come on, keep up!"
