The Gryffindor Table 2021-2022

"You might belong in Gryffindor,
Where dwell the brave at heart,
Their daring, nerve, and chivalry
Set Gryffindors apart"

—The Sorting Hat

The Great Hall is a large room with four long tables where students of each House sit during the day and at mealtimes. A majestic enchanted ceiling that mirrors the outside weather is watching over people in the room.

When you just pass the door from the Entrance Hall, Gryffindor table is next to the far side of the Hall. You have to walk past all three other tables to get to sit with the Lions. Maybe you will be able to eat and discuss with Nearly Headless Nick.

Relief. There was a great sense of relief that flooded through Tristan’s features as the Hat announced to the world at large that he was Gryffindor. As soon as he was free from the hat, he was stepping towards the table proper, his eyes glancing across the table proper as he takes a seat there.

Considering his last name started with a ‘W’, he was likely near the end of the list to be sorted.
Tristan,” he says. “And by Merlin’s beard, I’m glad to be here!” he says, his voice swelling with jubilation.

The Hat was continuing to sort, however, so that jubilation was short lived – and likely the attention he may receive. Which suited him just fine. He was pleased to cheer for new Gryffindor that sorted in, and now that the stress of the sorting (whatever stress there might be) was passed, he was finding himself ravenously hungry.

He didn’t realize that he hadn’t been eating very much, no doubt due to his anxiety.

So he glances across the table, and spies a small basket of rolls. Reaching out to grasp some of that food, he brings it to his lips to start munching away at it, his eyes eagerly going to the front of the hall as the sorting starts to finish, and the feast starts to begin.

And feast he certainly was thinking about, a small mug of butterbeer drawn before him as he starts to munch away.

Noah walked into the Great Hall, clearly immersed by what all he saw. He took a seat in the wooden chairs, feeling proud of himself for making it through the First Year. He cheered, yelling even, when the Eleven year olds were picked as Gryffindors. But nothing got his attention more than the boy who stated that his name was Tristen. That was right, as his last name and first name had to be said before he sat down to be sorted by the talking, magical hat.

Wolfe, Tristen. Noah cheered, happy that they were almost near the end of the Sorting Ceremony, and one step closer to eating their grand feast. Wolfe was sorted into Gryffindor, and Noah noted that the boy was unique in his way, and Noah, being as inquisitive as he was, was determined to find out more.

"T- Tristen. I- I mean, Wolfe. Whatever you want to be called, tell me." Noah paused for a minute, allowing his hair to be blown in a breezy manner.

"I'm Noah Jupe, a Second Year in Gryffindor, and I wanted to get to know you, and congratulate you for being in Gryffindor. You shall bring grand and fantastic luck to Gryffindor, if you are who I think you are." Noah paused, again. The thought of there being mean Gryffindors terrified him, especially if he knew one already. But, that Gryffindor should've not picked on Noah's choice of clothing.

"As you can see, I am wearing my cape below my robe, and my headband as well. It is quite common that you'll see me wear my cape and robe, and I'm sure that by rumors, you'll hear more about it!" Noah smiled, blushing a little, but continued to smile.

"When you get into the Gryffindor Boys Dormitory, you'll see my bed, which has some pretty embarrassing stuff on there, and I ask that you don't make fun of it in front of me." Noah asked, and stated politely.

It would be hard for Tristan to tell Noah’s year by a glance; but by the context of the situation – by the fact that he was already sitting down, and by the way that Noah seemed to know the situation – his guess was that Noah was a second or third year straight off.

But the softly blue eyes of the blonde-headed guy settle on Noah, as Tristan takes his seat at the table.

Tristan’s fine,” he says. “It’s not a name that nicknames well, I’ve found,” he says. “But Noah, it’s good to meet you!” he says, his voice still flush from the joy of being sorted into this house. Although from what Noah says, his brow furrows a bit. “Oh?” he says. “I don’t know if I know who I am, or who you think I am,” he says.

But I suppose if I am who you think you are, and that’s lucky…” he begins, his smile sedate, but coming up slow. “Then I’m happy to be lucky,” he says.

He hooks his cheek into his hand, leaning his elbow on the table as he regards the other student. “I try not to make fun of people – my older brother and sister were good at that, though,” he says. “But I haven’t heard any rumors yet either, so you’re safe,” he says.

And if I say something annoying, we can go ahead and have a scrap or something,” he says, his gently Scottish tone coloring his words. “I’d probably deserve it at that point,” he adds, his smile only growing at that point.

Noah laughed, "Well, I think you are a young boy who needs a friend! I'll always be here for you if you need me! But, if you ever wanted help in your classes, I'm only one step away. Literally, I'm everywhere as it seems."

Taking a short, relaxing, and calm breath, with his grin growing wider, "If you wanted to get into a scrap with me, let me tell you, it wouldn't work out too well! Well, for me anyways! You would win, I'm sure. You seem to be stronger than me anyways." Noah said with a serious laugh. "I doubt you can annoy me that easily, as I tend to brush it off. That's what happens when you grow up with seven brothers and two dads."

Noah snickered, it was unfortunate indeed, and Noah had nothing to say about it, except that he said his thought out loud. "I really hope my dads don't adopt more brothers, and pureblood at that! It's hard being responsible, and more trustworthy than your twin when you both are expected to be kind and respectful to each other." Noah sighed, feeling dejected. But he decided to perk up, it was a happy day! Everyone returned to Hogwarts, and First Years get to experience the magic firsthand!

"So, what do you think of the sorting so far? What do you think of Hogwarts so far? I'll walk with you to your dorm when the prefect takes us, if you want. I mean, we're just about in the same dorm, only I'm not in Niffler Niche. I'm in Hodag Hallow." Noah suggested, smiling, he really did want to know to know Tristan better, maybe as friends, but he wanted to explore the future with new friends.

The laughter was infectious in a way; when Noah laughs, Tristan’s smile grows, showing teeth now. “Well, since I have you here then,” he says, leaning in as if hoping to share a secret. “What’s the one thing you wish you knew in first year, that no one told you?” he asks.

As for scrapping, he crinkles his nose a bit. “Well, sometimes it’s not about winning or losing, you know?” he says. “But I might. Might not, though. People can surprise you a lot of times,” he says.

Then Noah says what he does about his family. “Bloody hell,” he says, his eyes opening with surprise. “That’s a big family – and all brothers,” he says. “Mine’s more mixed – I have an older brother and sister, and a younger sister,” he says. “Both my older siblings are proper terrors, though,” he says, sighing as he straightens up a bit. “Probably where all my scrapping experience came from,” he adds, a mite wry. “You have a twin here?” says Tristan, although his voice softens a mite when he notices the sigh that comes from Noah then. He brings up his hand, waggling it in a vaguely dismissive gesture – Noah didn’t have to answer if he didn’t want to.

I have the stories, of course, from my older siblings,” he says. “But I’m very grateful that I managed to wind up a Gryffindor – my whole family are Gryffindors, and I was afraid I’d end up in Ravenclaw or something,” he says, his smile dimming, but still friendly. “What do you think of Hogwarts, and seeing the ceremony a second time? That’s got to be a few emotions there,” he says.

Tristan was a friendly sort, and certainly was open to new friends – it was a new school after all, so. Friends would be good!

Noah quickly blushed, not in a romantic way, or as if he was shy, but as if he truly was embarrassed. "One thing I wish I knew in first year?" Noah repeated, with a sad and slightly mad, as in crazy, look on his face. "I- uh- wish I knew when to look both ways before anyone decided to sneak up behind me and pull my pants down." He shook off that thought in his head. It was embarrassing, and he wouldn't refuse to that, but he did indeed pull his pants back up quickly before anyone else can see.

"But- uh- don't worry about it. I'll be there for you, I'll be there to protect you, even if I have to be embarrassed." Noah admitted, as red flushed his face.

"It must have been hard dealing with so many siblings, or well, of both genders. It's great that you are a Gryffindor, but why were you so scared of being another House? It seems to be more interesting than you are willing to allow yourself to see. I have a few Slytherin friends, and I'm dating a Slytherin. But I do have a First Year Slytherin girl that is already against me." Noah said, rolling his eyes.

"Of course, I do have a twin. All my brothers go to school here, all in different houses, Theodore is my younger brother, and is in First, and it seems he is with us. But my twin, Billy, is in Ravenclaw, and well, Billy might've been the one to pull down my pants, but, don't worry, that'll never happen to you. Not on my life." The boy clapped Tristan's back.

"Well, I think its amazing the second time around, but I wish I was in your position, fresh and new to Hogwarts, even if you heard stories, it was all still new and immersing to you." Noah said, with a fake smile upon his face.

"Um, how would you feel if we worked together on homework together? Once classes begin, that is when you can meet with me outside the classroom. I'll meet you, and then I will either have my wand, notebook, or textbook, or maybe, all three, if I don't need anything else, with me. When you meet me, I do kinda expect that you bring your things with you, because my textbooks are not the same as your textbooks. My wand will not work for you. Well, not as well." Noah stated, suggesting a system of working things out for homework. Noah did want the boy to do well.

OOC Note: I meant what I said about the homework. If you are interested, I can set up threads for that class and all. It would help, if you wanted. I could even ask if the professor wanted to join. Just one more post and I believe you can do classes. Now, Noah is a second year, so he knows all from First Year, even a spell that doesn't exist on the Astronomy class anymore. But if you are, inform me in this thread, or owl me. Either Owl me by clicking my name and the envolope, typing my name in the Owls, or click THIS and put a subject and info in it.

Della took a breath and sat down at the Gryffindor table. She might have walked to wrong table if they didn't cheer every time someone was selected for their house. She hadn't mastered matching the house names with the colors and the insignias.

She was glad that she could start to disappear into the crowd again. Wasn't this supposed to be the brave house? Della didn't feel that brave tonight. She was exhausted, and so far everything was overwhelming.

She was sitting at the very end, probably near the other first-years who had just joined the table. She wasn't sure if she should say something, introduce herself, or just turn her attention back to the sorting.

She looked at the empty gold plate in front of her. When would they eat? What would they eat? How different was wizard food from muggle food? Her stomach growled. She hoped they would finish the sorting soon.

Della decided to keep her eyes on the sorting, instead of making awkward eye contact with the other Gryffindors.

Brave and prideful. Were those really words that described her? Della had always been shy and self-deprecating. And she was eleven! What did being prideful even mean? The sorting hat had said one thing that was right, Della hoped she was well-received by her new peers.

Noah noticed another Gryffindor, as he told Wolfe, what he did, he knew that one day, these First Years will need some help with homework, one way or another.

The girl, who got sorted, went to the Gryffindor table, looking lost, and confused.

So in response to that, the boy got up, walked over to the girl, stood behind her but he couldn't see over her head for a second year.

"Hello, Ma'am. Did you have anyone tell you about Hogwarts?" He paused, giving her a minute to talk.

"A Muggle-born then? That's so cool! I mean, I'm a part of a family of adopted pureblooded wizards, but we all live in a muggle city, and I have a friend who is a muggle. Mario, do you know him?" Noah smiled, his eyes igniting with happiness.

Noah looked down at her wand, "We both have the same Wand Wood, Chestnut, but we don't seem to have the same wand core, right? Mine is a Wampus Cat hair for a core." Noah grabbed out his wand, comparing the size. "Yeah, possibly. But I can tell that your wand is longer than mine."

Noah diverted the attention from the wand for a minute, now asking questions about what she expects when she is here at Hogwarts. "Do you want to have friends in other Houses? I'm certain that I'm friends with every House, but even you might find enemies in your own House. Just a little advice, don't be like me, and don't provoke your dorm-mate. No matter how funny it is." The boy thought back to that moment, frowning. He quickly perked up, giving the girl a thumbs up, and proceeded to stand behind her.

The Gryffindor Table 2021-2022
Emmeline had mixed feelings as she was announced into House Gryffindor. She glanced around at all four tables and then double made sure she knew where there was an empty spot for her to sit with the rest of her house. As she left the hat and everyones peering gazes she made her way towards an empty spot towards the back.

As she took a seat she glanced around studying the strangers who sat around her. Keeping note who seemed to know who and who seemed to keep to themselves. She wasn't shy about talking to strangers but she wasn't to sure who to start up a conversation with. Getting bored with the idea on who to converse with she ended up just watching the rest of the first years get placed into their new houses.

As she continued watching and sipping on a glass of cool water she began to evaluate everything that was about to change in her life. She was no longer home with her sisters or in the comfort of her own room. She was in a place she did not know. Not a soul she knew in sight. She seemed refreshed in a way to start a new chapter of her life here but she couldn't help but wonder how everyone at home was doing. She was nervous to see how she would fit in with the rest of the Gryffindors but at the same time she was not worried at all. She just needed to stop overthinking things and strike up a conversation before more worrying thoughts filled her mind.
