The Mighty Rosie Clucker
Callie wasn't a fan of writing letters as it provided far too much room for errors. The girl was the first to admit that she didn't have the best of handwriting and often struggled to narrow down what she wanted to say on paper. Phone calls were so much easier but that didn't seem to be the way of things in Hogwarts. It didn't help much that her family lived in the northern reaches of the Scottish Highlands either, since it placed her hours away from some of her friends. So despite her own dislike for the practice Callie wrote frequently, especially to a certain Miss Rosie Parker.
Over the course of the summer Callie had sent numerous letters the the older girl only to be met with sparce replies. To say that it didn't bother her at all would be an outright lie but it didn't ruin her glowing image of the Hufflepuff either. She had to have been busy...right? Why else would she not respond to the admittedly overkill number of pictures she'd sent of all the baby animals at the farm?
Thankfully now that Hogwarts was back in session Rosie was in much closer reach, so close in fact that Callie had opted to bother her in her free moments. Finding her however...that was another story. So long and boring that it doesn't warrant much discussion unless you count running down hallways as the most exciting thing in the universe. Callie would've given up her search entirely if it weren't for her catching a glimpse of Rosie in her brief scan of the study room.
"MISS ROSIE PARKER!" Callie yelled out in her own odd attempt at sounding like a terribly serious professor about to issue a detention. Sadly her serious desposition didn't last long and quickly burst out into giggles. "You're alive!" She declared with her arms stretched out and a wide grin spread across her face. "Did you get my letters? Gah, I sent you so many animal pictures!" Callie barrelled across the room and launched herself into the chair closest to Rosie, almost falling over in the process. "I named a chicken after you actually because when it clucked it kind of sounded like you? Argh that sounds so mean! I promise I didn't mean it like that oh big mighty fifth year.." She paused. "You know, I always thought fifth years were taller in my head."

The Mighty Rosie Clucker
Letters were the only way Rosie could communicate with her friends over the summer.
While the young Hufflepuff treasured the time she spent with her family, since it was usually the only time she could during the year, it didn't mean she didn't miss her friends. She saw them all pretty much every day for most of the year, and then she had to go to... Well, not doing that. The change was always sudden, no matter how many years she returned home. Not only that, but due to the majority of her friends being wealthy purebloods, the chance of Rosie coming over to see any of them were slim to none. Same as the chance they would be coming over to see her. Aside from a few exceptions, Dymph's family was quite kind. But this summer in particular had been very busy.
Hospital visits, and generally making up most of the family time she could, Rosie could only write letters. But at some point, she was losing track of the conversations she tried to hold over letters, particularly with Callie.
Rosie quite liked the young Ravenclaw, the two had met their previous year and had bonded over general shenanigans. It had been close to the end of the year, so the two had promised to write letters back and forth. While Callie was good on her promise, sending Rosie tons of letters over the summer, Rosie had began to fall off when things started to get busy at home. Towards the end of the summer, for some reason, the family had been heading to the hospital for checkups. Additionally, Rosie had a dance recital at the end of the summer, that she was determined to nail in the coffin. Thus, writing letters had become a bit of a second task. Besides, she had been a little sad about not being able to talk with her other friends, it was making her question if the letters were even worth it.
Regardless, it was a new year! Rosie was in the study room, already busy with homework. Though it was interrupted when she heard a loud yell from the door, jumping in her seat. "JESU- Callie!" The surprise was immediately erased with joy as she saw her friend, grinning when she entered. She was speaking so fast, Rosie was struggling to find where she should start. But at the comment about the chicken, she faked offense, pouting at the remark. "Well, I suppose I should be flattered you were thinking of me this summer. Don't run so fast, you're gonna trip and hit your head!" She idly lectured, lightly patting her head as she got to her feet.
"Hey! I still have time to hit my growth spurt, you're gonna be so intimidated once I hit six feet." She huffed, putting her hands on her hips.
