It was mid-day on a Saturday. Grace walked outside to the courtyard into the warmth. She saw students grouped up with friends, their chatter filling the air. The gray cobblestone blurred under Grace’s shoes as she walked. She had no idea where she was walking to as none of her friends were in the courtyard. Grace had walked around about 3 times before she finally decided to stop somewhere. There was a smooth, concrete slab close to one of the edges of the courtyard; this is where she was headed. Grace had a small tote bag that held a blanket and snacks.

Once Grace made her way to the concrete slab, she set down her blanket as a barrier between her and the hard slate. Grace sat down, feeling the smooth texture on her legs. The sun shined down on Grace’s golden locks. The straight hair perfectly complimented her pale skin tone, which was becoming rosy with the suns rays. Grace was wearing a cropped white tee and black shorts that heavily contrasted against her skin.

After a few minutes of relaxing in the sun, Grace heard some chatter from students that were standing by one of the towering columns. There were some Slytherin boys standing and chatting.

Ashton and his companions were chatting and laughing around in the courtyard. Half of the conversation were about them planning a little prank to a certain someone or enemy and the other half was completely random, from the grades that they received, to the fake permission slip from Weasley's Wizard Wheezes. But Ashton slightly drifted away from the conversation when he noticed a girl, with golden straight locks relaxing by the edge of the courtyard.
Ashton must have been staring for a little too long since one of his pals decided to loudly interrupt him. "Looks like we got a stalker here!". Snapping his gaze to the source of the voice, he playfully glared at him while smiling. "Shut up." Ashton said while rubbing the back of his neck. "I'll give ya five sickles to go talk to her." Another piped up while trying to smile innocently but is failing miserably.
Rolling his eyes, Ashton was tempted but didn't want to disturb the girl since she looked like she was relaxing. But if she did showed any signs of wanting to be interrupted, he'll gladly be an interruption. Hearing their laughter, Ashton looked back again to the girl but was surprised when their eyes directly met.

Ash.

Grace snapped her head back down as her and one of the Slytherin boys locked eyes. Grace’s eyes stayed on her blanket, which had, for some reason, become extremely intriguing. She was not meaning to stare at the group of Slytherins and her cheeks flushed as she thought about being caught. Trying to distract herself, Grace reached into her tote bag. She grabbed the first snack her hand reached, which just so happened to be a small box of assorted macaroons: lemon, blueberry, coffee, and lavender. Grace gently picked up a coffee macaroon and gave it a quick glance, making sure her homemade treat was edible. Grace ate the small, coffee flavored macaroon in a delicate manner, almost proper.

Grace quickly glanced back over to the group of boys, focusing in on one in particular: a blue eyed boy with short brunette hair. It was the one she had locked eyes with earlier. From where Grace was sitting she could not see much, but it was obvious that he was attractive. His sharp jawline and straight nose made him look like a third year, which he could be- Grace did not know who this boy was. Placing the lid on her macaroon box, Grace hoped that he had not caught her looking at him.

The girl, in what seemed like in a panicking state, broke eye contact with him and looked at the most intresting object that she can find. Her blanket. The girl then ate a macaroon in such a delicate and proper way. Oooh, by the looks of it, the girl hasn't done any sort of rule breaking thing ever.
"Alright, bet." Smirking slightly, Ashton took the 5 sickles that the previous one was teasingly offering him in his outstretched hand and Ashton made his way to the girl. Which earned him a "Hey!" And a few laughter's from behind. Getting close, he made his way at the edge of the girls blanket and got into a squatting, kind of kneeling position where his arms were resting on his knees.
"Hey there, you seem like you could use some company, am I welcome here?. Your lion friends busy?" He said smirking at the girl. Getting to examine her features, she has blue eyes, blonde hair, and a tan with a slight rose tint color. She is Enchanting, Ashton was pretty sure that the girls a half veela.
Deciding against asking her too many questions at once, one question being what is her name, he waited for her answer while hoping that he didn't looked like a creep.

Grace quietly watched as the Slytherin boy she had been caught staring at walked with poise over to her. Grace heard laughter and wondered if the boy was making some kind of joke. She saw the brunette smirking at her as he got near her blanket. As he kneeled down, Grace took in the boy’s features. He was attractive to say the least.

Hey there, you seem like you could use some company, am I welcome here?. Your lion friends busy?"

Grace sat in silence for a bit, surprised that he was talking to her- she finally toughened up a bit and spoke a few words.

Hi.. I’m Grace, nice to meet you. I was just relaxing, so you’re completely welcome here.

Her voice was soft, almost delicate as she replied to the boy. Grace wondered if he came from a pureblood day family like herself, or if he had a different blood status. It didn’t matter much to her, she was just curious. The boys perfectly styled hair made him look professional, even as a student.

What year are you? You look older than most of my friends- I am just a first year. Grace asked with curiosity, deciding against asking his blood status.

The girls voice was delicate, soft, and gentle. Ashton had analyzed it from the very first word that the girl spoke which is a 'hi'. Ashtons smirk grew wide when knowing the girls name which is Grace. Hearing that he was welcome, he took that as an invitation to settle himself on her blanket but he sat at the very edge unless she told him otherwise. Ashton takes personal space seriously and literally.
Hearing her ask him what year he was, didn't surprised him a bit. He gets that a lot since from a very young age, his mom would force him to grow up. Both mentally and physically. He didn't had the greatest childhood ever but its still fine. "Well, I am also a first year, just like you but I can't blame you on thinking that I'm much more older than I am. But do you prefer older guys?" Ashton said, raising an eyebrow at the girl, while still wouldn't wipe his stupid smirk off his face. He found it quite amusing.
"I'm Ashton Green, First year. Half blooded Slytherin." Ashton said while sitting in a one leg up position with his arm on his knee using his hand to support his face while it tilted slightly to the side. "How're you liking Hogwarts so far?" Ashton said, his voice laced with his Scottish accent.

Ash.

As Ashton sat on the very edge of her blanket, Grace moved over a bit to give him more space. She didn’t mind having her new friend sit on the blanket, as she did not need much space in the first place.

You’re welcome to sit further on the blanket if you want, I don’t bite

Grace quietly giggled a bit as she spoke those last three words. She was taken-aback as Ashton spoke about being a first year. He looked much older than her.

The smirk enough was enough for Grace’s face to flush red, but the suggesting comment made the situation worse. Grace decided not to answer his question as she knew she would probably stutter in embarrassment. She didn’t like older guys, just ones that were more mature than the usual boy. The raised eyebrow asked a silent question that Grace was not going to address.

Grace delicately pulled her shining blonde hair into a perfect ponytail and grabbed a lemon macaroon from her snack box. As macaroons usually are, it was crumbly. So Grace had to try to be as graceful as possible with the messy food, not dropping and crumbs. After she finished her macaroon she listened to Ashton ask about Hogwarts and replied.

I love it so far, I grew up in a fully magical family, so I’m used to most of the magic components- it is just the boarding school part that I am getting adjusted to.

This was Grace’s way of subtlety hinted at her pureblooded-ness without seeming snobby.

How is Hogwarts treating you? And would you like a snack?

Grace asked while pointing at her book bag filled with all kinds of goodies.

Chuckling a little at the girls comment, Ashton scooted a little bit closer to Grace. "Well, lucky me then." Getting comfortable on the blanket, he noticed that she stayed a little too quiet for a moment. Glancing at her, she was a little red and Ashton didn't know whether it was because of his comment earlier or because she was sick. But for the heck of it, he gently placed the back of his hand on her forehead to 'check' her temperature. Putting it back down he said, trying his best to sound serious.
"Sorry, I noticed you were a little red and thought of checking your temperature. You alright?" But he failed miserably by cracking a smile at the end. After hearing Grace's backstory, Ashton couldn't help but feel slightly jealous. She knew about the wizarding world and she probably casted her first spell already while he was a little bit clueless about the said world.
"Well, Hogwarts is alright. Trying to stay out of trouble but it's hard and tempting. I lived in a muggle neighborhood so I was surprised when I discovered that magic was real. And don't mind if I do." Ashton said while taking a macaroon and taking a bite out of it. "And you know, you don't have to be so proper right now. You can eat macaroons as messy as you want." He said half jokingly.
"I'm curious, is your family kind of strict or something?" He didn't meant it as an insult or anything but he did have a strict mom and was forced to be like he is now. He was trying to see if she was too or she was just graceful by nature.

As Ashton “checked her temperature” Grace’s face flushed even more. Two can play at this game. Grace innocently smirked after seeing the cheeky smile on Ashton’s face. Grace knew that Ashton knew it would just make her more flustered. As Ashton asked about parents, Grace decided to answer.

Yeah my parents are pretty uptight, they are sweet though. My mom is one of the kindest people ever. My dad is away at work most of the time. How was living in a muggle neighborhood?

Grace grabbed a mini ham and cheese sandwich and started snacking on it, covering her mouth with her hand to stay polite. She thought back to Ashton talking about being messy and decided to let her guard down a bit more. Grace opened a lemon macaroon, got the filling in her fingers, and smeared the zesty filling on his cheek. She then popped the rest of the macaroon in her mouth.

Oops looks like you have something on your face! Let me get that for you.

Instead of actually wiping the filling off of his face, she smeared it around even more. This was payback for the small temperature check earlier. Grace hoped Ashton wouldn’t get angry, but instead goof around. As he said earlier, it’s okay to get messy sometimes.

Ashton was stunned for a little while. After recovering, he glared playfully at Grace and chuckled. "Oh it's on." Ashton was confused earlier when she smeared macaroon fillings on his cheek but understood it right after. Getting a macaroon and also doing what Grace did, taking the fillings out, he placed his other free hand on the blanket on Grace's side to stop her from squirming around or escaping and smeared it on top of her nose and cheeks. He was caught of guard by that open sneak attack and it left him dumbfounded for a little while.
Eating the now empty macaroon, he placed both of his hands on either side of Grace's blanket to stop her from reaching another macaroon. "Well, you could say that it was pretty uneventful living with muggles. Simple and peaceful I guess. But the schools there are pretty much different here. Though, I don't know why wizards call ordinary people or non magical people muggles." He smirked.
Looking at her book bag full of goodies and snacks, he tried to find some sort of defense in there incase she wanted to attack again. I don't know any other things that can help you against macaroon fillings but trying to survive not getting your face filled is a start. "Do you start macaroon wars with everyone you meet?" Ashton asked teasingly.
