To the Rehearsal Room!
Walking with @Grace Swan

"To the Rehearsal Room it is, love!" he said. "It is my absolute favorite place within the castle, after all." Once she had her things gathered up, he presented her with a large smile before motioning for her to follow him. "We couldn't get into my common room or dormitory anyway. Only those from the house can get inside or else there's protective charms. Same with other genders in the dorms, so I've heard. Gotta do our snogging somewhere else."Continued from: viewtopic.php?f=23&t=17662&p=283912#p283912
Simon meant that as a general sort of term, not as in THEIR - he and Grace. But in saying it and how it kinda sounded like he meant that he glanced down, feeling like his face probably went a little red. He shook it off though and glanced back up to her, back to confidence.
"The Hufflepuff Common Room is nice though," he continued, filling some of their time through the corridors and up to the fourth floor with some conversation. Some of the portraits greeted them as they passed and Simon was sure to return the greeting. "It's warm, lots of golden yellow. Lots of plants. Always a fire in the fireplace. A lot of the students like it because we can always smell the pastries baking from the kitchens since we're in such close proximity but honestly, I consider that one of the downfalls." He wasn't one for sweets. "It's a nice atmosphere, especially for studying or writing music."
He would continue on to talk about his dormitory but he didn't want to bore the poor girl. "What's the Gryffindor Common Room like?" He had often wondered. He had always assumed that the view was probably spectacular since it was in the Gryffindor Tower.
As they walked, he noticed that someone had left their bag on the floor of the corridor and he brought his hand around her waist, pulling her away from it, but in doing so, he pulled her close to him, his hip bumping into hers.
"Sorry...trying to protect you. From uh, from evil, hazardous backpacks."

To the Rehearsal Room!
Love. Wow Grace had never had a boy call her that before. She knew that he probably meant nothing by it though, as many boys called other girls “love” without a meaning. Grace was excited to visit the rehearsal room, as she had never gone before.
Gotta do our snogging somewhere else. Grace heard Simon say.
Grace’s head snapped in Simon’s direction. No one had been this bold with her before. Did he mean snogging in general or with her? Grace saw him look down as his face flushed and she decided that it probably wasn’t towards her. But as Simon looked at her confidently, Grace wasn’t sure.
The details about the Hufflepuff common room warmed Grace’s heart. She would love to wake up to the smell of pastries baking in the early mornings and guessing what the aroma from dinner foods were. Grace thought that maybe she would be a great Hufflepuff, as kind as she was most of the time.
The Gryffindor common is pretty different from your description of Hufflepuff. It has lots of red tones and brown furniture. The red couches have cute, dark red, plush pillows. It smells like candles and a burning fire from the fireplace.
Grace smiled at the Hufflepuff. She hoped that she wasn’t boring him with her details.
Most of the Gryffindors are extremely outgoing, so the common room is filled with people. The chatter gets loud sometimes, so it’s not a very good place for studying. There are bookshelves and windows decorating the walls, so it is a busy place. It scares me to look out the windows though, as we are so high up.
Grace blushed as she said the last part, it kind of slipped out. Suddenly she was pulled into Simon’s side. Grace gasped a bit at the surprising move. Simon’s hand was around her waist. Grace laughed at Simon’s excuse for pulling her. She was pretty sure that no backpack, no matter how evil, could hurt her.

To the Rehearsal Room!
Arrived at the Rehearsal Room with @Grace Swan
Fear of heights didn't mean she wasn't brave in other areas to be a true Gryffindor and he saw now shame in her admitting that. Simon smiled to her kindly, and with their closeness his brown eyes connected with her blue for a moment. When he finally glanced down, he continued to walk and since she didn't seem uncomfortable by this closeness, he kept it. Simon was a very touchy feely sort of person, it was just his nature.
"I can imagine the Gryffindor Common Room being loud as everyone tries to be better than another," he smiled, teasing about the conceitedness of the perception of her house. "Nah, I'm only kidding. Some of those I'm closest with are Gryffindors. There's Haley Rose and Cosmo Keith."
Finally they arrived at the entrance to the Rehearsal Room and he pushed open the heavy wooden doors. No one was inside and as they walked through the door, him following her, some flames ignited from the light fixtures upon the wall, illuminating the beautiful space. Simon always loved that charm, and figured it was probably the headmaster or one of the professors that had decided upon that.
"I welcome, thee, Miss Grace Swan of the Captail City of London, England, to the Rehearsal Room...a room filled with wonder, imagination, creativity, drive, purpose, ambition, and music. Welcome to the room that has my heart."
Corny? Maybe so.
But true.
This was the room, perhaps shared only with the Library, that Simon spent most of his free time in. It was here that he could write music, perfect his music, and also perform his music. Music was his thing...when he was happy there was music, when he was feeling hardships - there was music. It didn't matter what emotion he felt or what life's journey had in store for him - he could always try and navigate through with music.

To the Rehearsal Room!
As Grace and Simon neared the rehearsal room, she realized that they were still up against each other- his hand on her waist. She wondered if this was his nature or well… not. Grace was naturally touchy, she hugged her friends every time she saw them and her love language was sixty percent physical touch, so she knew that people can be physically affectionate, even for friends.
As Simon talked about his Gryffindor friends, Grace got to thinking. Wasn’t there a girl named Haley that was dating a Simon? Grace stepped out of Simon’s grip just in case. She took a few extra steps away, but hoped he didn’t notice her distancing herself. If he had a girlfriend, she did not want to be the reason they had problems.
Walking through the two wooden doors, Grace was stunning by the scenery. Her mouth slightly dropped open in awe. As Simon introduced Grace to the room, she looked awestruck. Her blue eyes sparkled in her daze and hair glowed under the illumination of the light fixtures. Grace took a few steps forward to look around, but she accidentally stepped on Simon’s shoe.
I’m so sorry Simon, I didn’t mean to step on your shoe!

To the Rehearsal Room!
Offering a dance to @Grace Swan

"No worries, no worries," he said, bringing his hand back around her waist again to make sure she didn't stumble from doing so. This was now the second time in just a short while and he glanced to her, feeling he was probably being a little too much at the moment but instead of taking a step backward, he led her more into the room. There was something about Grace in which he felt comfortable with her. "Although girls usually don't step on my feet unless we're dancing," he admitted. Dancing. It was always a good idea. There was never a wrong time to dance. Ever.
His favorite part of the Rehearsal Room was the piano, but that he would show her afterward. Right now he had another idea - to show her another fantastic part of the Rehearsal Room that he didn't utilize very often because doing this with a partner was so much better than doing so alone.
Now they were more in the center of the room and it was a large open area. It was more like a dance floor here and he smiled. "Dance with me?" he offered, stepping now away from her to in front of her where he held out a hand. There wasn't music, but for someone like Simon that was so musically inclined, that was a small minor detail. If she would accept his offer to dance, he would sing to provide their music accompaniment.

To the Rehearsal Room!
Simon didn’t seem to notice why Grace stepped away as his hands grabbed her waist once more and led her into the room. Grace decided that this was not the Simon dating a Haley in Gryffindor and just went with it. She was not used to being this close to boys, but she was not tense- she was actually very relaxed. Usually in a situation like this, Grace would back up and leave, but for some reason she did not want to. She felt almost safe with Simon, even if they had just become friends.
As Simon mentioned that his feet don’t normally get stepped on unless dancing, Grace looked up at him. Was he insinuating a dance? Grace loved dancing. She could dance anywhere and everywhere, and to everything. Grace knew that Simon was musically inclined, but was he good at dancing? As they made their way into the center of the room, Grace was stunned at what she heard. Simon had just offered to dance with her. She did not know what to say, there was no music, and she did not know what they would dance to.
I would love to
Grace delicately took Simon’s outreached hand and spun perfectly.

He brought her in from the spin close to him and pulled her back out again and smiled because the girl knew what she was doing. This wasn't her first time and he appreciated that. Simon stood, putting his hands in place. "Alright, bear with me here without any brass band backing me up..."
"Some day..." he began, getting the first two words out before beginning to move and brought her along with him, swaying. He didn't anticipate she'd be stepping on him though because she seemed to effortlessly know what to do. "When I'm awfully low, When the world is cold, I will feel a glow just thinking offff you...and the way you look tonight," he pulled her in close and paused at that part.
He wasn't sure if she knew who Frank Sinatra is, but he continued to sing the words to "The Way You Look Tonight." He was an American singer from 1940s and while he was rather popular, it seemed more so across the pond than in Great Britain. Simon knew many of his friends back home in his muggle school had never heard of him.
Simon was able to get through the entire song as the two danced and he didn't end it until the song did. He then smiled and laughed, glancing down and feeling a little embarrassed because while he liked to sing, it wasn't something he normally did right there in front of someone he just met. "You're good at dancing. Who taught you?" he inquired. It was his aunt that had taught him, several years ago.

To the Rehearsal Room!
Taking a seat with @Grace Swan
"Surprised someone else here knows of Frankie," he said, motioning for her to come follow him over to where the piano was. He had heard her singing along, and although it was low, it was nice. She had a beautiful voice. "I know they called him Old Blue Eyes sometimes as if blue eyes are the best," he glanced over to her. "I mean, I'm not talking on a girl. But they're overrated on guys, you know? I'd say brown is just fine as well, especially when its not that super dark brown but more of a light bright brown," he referenced his own.
"My Aunt Maggie said I always had a thing for girls with blue eyes. Blues eyes and blonde hair..." but he paused because he felt he was sort of walking into a statement he really shouldn't be making - even if he had mostly just finished it.
"Anyway, uh...that sounds like a great memory to have. Learning how to dance with your father like that. He was the one in Gryffindor, correct? And your mum was the amazing Hufflepuff?"
Once at the piano, Simon knelt down and pulled out the bench a little and motioned for her to sit. He would allow her to do so before joining her on the other side.
It was nice that the evening sun was now present, so just a soft golden light filtered through the windows and it didn't reach most of the Rehearsal Room. That didn't only suit his dhampir nature best, but it made the room look more warm and more elegant somehow.

To the Rehearsal Room!
Grace giggled as Simon called him Frankie. That was not something that she had heard anyone call Frank Sinatra before. Grace followed Simon over to the piano slowly.
Grace’s mouth gaped open after Simon described his type: blue eyed and blonde. Grace tucked a piece of strand hair behind her ear. She quickly closed her gaping mouth as Simon changed the topic. Grace answered quietly while looking up into his brown eyes. She had always like brown eyes.
Yes, my father was in Gryffindor and mother was in Hufflepuff. I kind of wish that I was in Hufflepuff. It would be wonderful to smell baked good in the morning.
Grace looked over each detail of Simon’s face. Each had perfect symmetry to others, or at least Grace thought so. There was something about Simon that Grace could not catch onto. He looked a lot more developed than other second years, maybe even third.
Grace gently sat onto the little wooden bench that Simon had pulled out for her and watched him join her. The golden light shining through the windows made Grace glow. It gave her an almost sweet aura. As she looked to the other side of the bench, she saw how handsome the golden light made Simon. It perfectly captured the depth of attraction that he held.
I.. I don’t know how to play piano

To the Rehearsal Room!
Playing piano and getting personal with @Grace Swan
He didn't notice her looking as he was looking down at the piano keys in front of him. "The piano was the first instrument I learned how to play," he admitted. "I've since also learned the guitar and the trumpet and the saxophone. Well, I'm working on the last two a little more but mostly have it down."
His hands moved over the keys, slowly at first, and then he began to pick up and play a song.
This particular song was only a melody, and had to words to it, but not all songs needed words. At first it was only his intention to play the first part of it, but the music got caught in him and he couldn't escape it. Music was really his thing.
When the song did end, he glanced over to her and gave her a smile. "You know, sometime we could play the most cliche of duets together if you'd like. I could show you the repetitive part to play and I'll pick up the rest. Besides, that'll give me an excuse to see you again."
Simon didn't glance down this time. "But right now I want you to tell me a bit more about those parents of yours," especially since they were the main people in her life for so long. "Where did they meet? Here at school? When did they start dating? What kind of people are they like now and what's your favorite thing about them?" He was prying and realized it.
"Sorry," he whispered. "So sorry. I just...I don't know. The whole parent thing always had me fascinated. I guess it's that whole...we always want what we can't have." But could he have it? Maybe with one parent...
