What is Quidditch?
It had been a while since Eris had met her new friend Ava in the library. The two had seen each other in passing , as they walked through the halls of Hogwarts. Finally, the two girls had agreed to meet up at the Quidditch pitch, to the excitement of Eris. Quidditch tryouts were soon, and Eris loved flying enough that she want to try out for the team. Only issue was, she really didn't know a thing about Quidditch and how it worked. She knew what flying was, and that there was somebody called a seeker on the team. That was just about the extent of Eris's knowledge of the wizarding sport, although she knew that it was quite beloved. Everywhere the short-red head went, she could hear people talking about the try outs coming soon their favourite teams, and how first years should be allowed brooms.
Personally, Eris was fine with the school brooms, even though they weren't very fast and looked worn out. They reminded her of broomsticks from children's books, where wicked witches pursed children on old brooms.
Sitting down on the wet grass of the Quidditch pitch, Eris waited for Ava to show up. Not paying attention to the wet grass, she stared up at the impressive three hoops on each side of the oval shaped pitch, and the four towers decked in the school colours for people to watch the game. It truly was an awe-astounding, magical sight.

What is Quidditch?
Ava walked towards the Quidditch Training Pitch with a smile. She loved Quidditch and often 'played' with her family as the beater. Though the girl could remember getting hurt with the bat and the bludger, it paid off. Somewhat. Ava still was better with dueling.
She walked towards the building with a copy of 'Quidditch Through the Ages' and even some notes. She could not believe that she was so prepared. Eris was a friend of hers and even that she should not feel like she should be prepared like for her first job interview, she was. The girl liked having a 'way out', as she liked it to call. There probably was a more professional way to call it, but figuring out names on her own was much more 'fun'.
The girl entered the training pitch and saw Eris in the distance. She called her name and waved towards her. She walked up to the girl and sat down next to her, not minding the wet grass at all. "She put the pathetic 'notes' on the ground. "Hey! You ready?" she said and smiled friendly towards the girl.
"So, you know the basics, like, what is the goal of the game, right?" she asked the girl, not sure where to start.

Eris looked up at Ava, snapped out of her thoughts by the girl's sudden approach. She smiled in earnest, happy to see her friend. She patiently waited for Ava to sit down in the grass next to her, feeling a slight twinge of regret for making Ava sit in the wet grass. Their robes were going to have permanent grass stains and wet marks by the end their conversation. Eris offered another smile to Ava, this time it was a slightly more apologetic smile, as she tried to convey that she was sorry they were sitting on wet grass to the sytherin. "Hello Ava."
Eris was extremely grateful for Ava's help in figuring out the game of Quidditch. She was near giddy, staring at the red book in Ava's hands and the notes the girl had written. Eris felt slightly nervous though, anticipating the hours of studying that might be spent on the wet grass, reading about Quidditch. Eris couldn't wait to learn more about the game, but at the same time she didn't really want to sit on the wet grass.
Ah, the things one had to do for knowledge. Eris coughed to clear her throat and watched Ava put the notes on the grass. "Er, won't they get wet?" She asked, before responding. "Yes I'm ready." She paused, thinking back on all her prior knowledge of the game of Quidditch. There really wasn't anything she knew about the game. "Um, all I know is that there is a seeker on the team and broomsticks." Eris said, with a slight frown.

Ava smiled and rolled her eyes. "Even if they do get wet, it does not really matter. Unless the ink will wear off, then we might have a problem." she nodded, hearing the girl answer her.
"Well, we will seat here for a bit longer than I thought. Maybe we should move to the stands?" she said, and not waiting for the girl to answer, she walked towards the nearest seats. They were close enough for the girl to hear her if she said anything so Ava could say anything even if the girl will not move closer and proceeded to start their 'lesson'.
"So, except the seeker, there are 3 other roles and 6 other players. 3 chasers, 2 beaters, and a keeper.' she smiled at mentioning the beaters. She absolutely loved that role and often played as one with her family and friends. 'The Chasers are responsible for the main action. They pass the Quaffle to each other and try to score goals. The Beaters attempt to disrupt the other team by hitting the bludgers around the stadium. The Keeper attempts to block goals from chasers. And the seeker is trying to catch the golden snitch.' she took her notes and flipped through some pages.
"Are you good so far?" she smiled and chuckled a little bit.

What is Quidditch?
Eris watched Ava get up, and after a split second of deliberation jogged after her taller friend to sit in the stands. Huffing up the stairs to reach the stands, Eris frowned at Ava's retreating back. She rather of sat on the ground with wet papers instead of climbing up the stairs to the stands. Her tiny legs couldn't handle all the stairs in Hogwarts anymore. There were just too many death-traps known as stairs everywhere the small girl looked. The end of the stairs was near, and with a final push Eris was off the stairs and stood in the stands. Grumbling and panting slightly , she flopped down in the stands next to Ava, ready for her lesson to begin.
She listened in rapt silence as Ava talked about Quidditch, but her thoughts began to turn towards flying itself, as she imagined herself on a broomstick flying the length of the huge Quidditch pitch. "Yeah, I got it so far." Eris said, lazily, mind still lost in thoughts of what it was like to fly. She had already flown once with her friend Adam, and now she wanted to fly again. Only this time she wanted to fly on a team. That was the whole point about learning about the game, she reminded herself with a jolt and attempted to turn her focus back to Ava.

What is Quidditch?
Ava looked at Eris. She was glad to have a friend like her that enjoyed being with her annoying self and would actually meet up with her and that was with her; not like Xaver. To reach him in Durmstrang she had to write owls. "So, to join a Quidditch team you have to try out. There are tryouts for every house I think every year. Matches should be run by a referee which would be a Professor or Prefect of a house not playing that match unless both captains will agree to it. Now about the specific rules..." she flipped through all of her notes to get to the page about the rules. She had a lot of stuff which they probably will not be able to discuss. She looked around, letting Eris process everything Ava was saying. The Silver girl remembered when she was first learning about Quidditch - everything seemed pretty overwhelming and even after her father explained everything to her many times, she still ended up just reading about Quidditch and that was how she learned everything. "You know what? We need to get you a book about Quidditch. It will probably be easier for you to learn that way."
"Anyway... Players must not stray over the boundary lines of the pitch, although they may fly as high as desired. The Quaffle must be surrendered to the opposition if any player leaves the boundary" the girl read out straight from her notes. She didn't try to modify them - she knew that that was how the teachers would explain it so maybe it's better to not confuse her.
