Rose Moon and her brother, Henry, walked into the Great Hall together. Rose cast her gaze around, her shoulders relaxing. It had been a long summer. Rose had gotten a little taller since the last time she was here, though not by much. Her hair was longer and she had more freckles from being at the beach and in the sun. Over the summer, she had become a little less alone, but at the same time all the more alone. It was confusing. Her mother was married and Rose now had a stepfather, who was nice enough, but also confusing. And two stepbrothers. One of them she was grateful for, and the other one she wasn't so sure about yet. And a stepsister who had run away and Rose had never had a conversation with yet. She had a new house in Godric's Hollow and a room that she shared with Henry. She felt like she had so much more now, and at the same time, so much less. It was incredibly confusing and Rose was sure she was just being ridiculous.

Chaska had come with Rose rather than going up to the dorms, and Rose was holding her in her arms, the cat draped over one shoulder and looking around from her higher vantage point. Henry was on her right as they stood in the entrance to the Great Hall for a short moment. Rose was, in the back of her mind, aware of her siblings passing her and sitting with their friends. All except Jessica. Jessica would be sorted this year. Rose glanced around and said softly to Henry, but only loud enough for him to hear, "Where should we sit?" Being a Gryffindor and a Slytherin, there were two obvious options, but Rose knew that Henry would probably rather sit at the Gryffindor Table with her. He didn't have too many friends in Slytherin and he was never one for Slytherin pride or anything. She wasn't even sure if he liked being a Slytherin, but he had been sorted there anyway, and Rose could see how he was.

She spied Scarlett, one of their mutual friends that they were both on very good terms on and quite close with. "Maybe with Scarlett?" she asked him, glancing at him. He agreed, and they both weaved their way through the crowd to sit at the Gryffindor Table across from Scarlett Aden.

"Hey, Scarlett!" Rose greeted her, with a smile. "We're not uh- these seats aren't taken, right?" she asked.

Rose's family and circumstances had changed drastically over the summer. Nothing had been the same. But on the inside, Rose felt almost the same. Yes, she had matured a little over the summer. She had learned some things. But she didn't feel like she had changed at all, and that's what made the change so so strange. She had been glad to have Chaska over the summer, a comic relief to things that had been extreme and overwhelming. Rose wouldn't have made it through if not for Chaska.

Once Rose had sat down, Chaska plopped herself in Rose's lap, then noticed Scarlett, climbing on the table daintily and weaving through the things on the table to climb into Scarlett's lap instead, looking up towards the redhead and asking to be pet with a small mew.

"How does it feel to be third years?" Rose asked both of her friends.

Henry stepped into the great hall with his sister. Rose. The teen looked around, it was almost the same that he remembered last year with small changes.

The banner hanging from the slytherin table caught his blue eyes, smiling at it a little as he read. Proclaiming that the Viridian Vipers, the slytherin dueling team won the championship last year and would do it again this year. Well they would try that is.

Henry absentmindedly put a hand to the team brooch he wore, feeling the gem and cool metal on his hand. Remembering his co captain and the day he got it.

The teen opted out of wearing his full uniform that night, instead he was wearing a pair of jeans, white shirt, and black jacket underneath the shirt robes that naturally was unbuttoned. The brooch sat, pinned next to the chest and a gold rusted pendant hung around his neck. Along with five braclets that sat on his right wrist and a orange feline; Loki who sat on his right shoulder.

The feline went everywhere with his owner solnit made sense for Loki to be sitting on Henry's shoulder that night instead of on the bed in his bunk room.

Henry himself had grown- matured since his second year at Hogwarts. The teen grown a few inches taller, his hair longer than before and blue eyes brighter this year. His skin a bit more tan from spending days outside in the sun and his chest a but tighter and stronger. Still skinny but the start of muscles forming.

Henry changed. Physically and mentally since the summer. The teen had a larger family and met his birth mothers family or last year is starting to understand the Knights and his birth mothers story. Henry is starting to gain confidence and bravely, looking to have fun and take risks more that year but also study. He was determined to maintain straight O's again and even become the top of all his classes.

Looking around the hall. Henry was mainly looking for two people. Logan Baird and Cash Ironwoods. They were his best friends after all and he was excited to see then again after two months apart, the teen had plenty to tell them after the summer he had.

Unfortunately, the blue eyes teen couldn't spot his two best friends. Figuring that he would need to catch them later, it was a set back and for a moment Henry considered leaving. Going back to the common room and reading till the sorting was over, maybe even get a start on studying for classes.

Rose's voice broke the silence but Henry wasn't listening. He had planned to sit with one of his two best friends that night either at the hufflepuff or slytherin table but plans change and Henry felt alone. Withdrawn. Different. Separate from the rest.

Loki would nibble a little on Henry's right ear, distracting him from his thoughts. The teen wild smile toward his feline on his shoulder when he heard Rose's voice and nodded as he spoke" Sure."

However before they would look for the gryffindor beater, Henry would reach out and grab Rose's elbow. Pulling her off to the side a bit as he spoke" wait for a moment, before we offical begin our third year and since I'm technically your older brother," the teen smiled at the girl and wouldn't let those few months of age difference be forgotten as he continued, "No matter what happens this year or who we're friends with, we'll always have each other's backs and protect each other. We'll always need each other, after all we're family, Rose and family is forever," the teen smiled at Rose for a moment and let go of her elbow when he spotted Scarlett nodding toward her a bit as he spoke" Found Scarlett."

Walking with Rose through the mass of students to Scarlett. Deciding to sit next to his sister, across from Scarlett as he smiled and nodded a little toward the girl as he spoke" hey, Sherlock how was the camp?" Remembering the nicknames they had as children, Henry took a seat and waited for the sorting to start.

Loki watched Chaska walk across the table to greet Scarlett. The orange feline seemed to be judging his fellow feline as his tail flicker from side to side but kept his spot on Henry's right shoulder. Loki gave a short meow toward Chaska followed by a shake of the head, cat language between the two, before the orange feline started to move his amber eyes around the hall searching for certain felines.

Henry pulled on his robes and jacket a bit. The scar that ran from his shoulder down his bicep still haunted him even through it was hidden. How could he forget it that easily... he inflicted on himself after all... the wolf was getting stronger while the teen was getting stronger...

Henry looked over at Rose and smiled a little along with a small chuckle as he replied" is it suppose to feel different?" Taking a pause for the others to speak before asking them both as he spoke" excited for classes this year?"

Henry interrupted her train of thought by calling her to stop for a moment. Her brain had often been focused on the next thing, the next action, the next chore, the next event that would happen in her life. It was easier than thinking, and realizing how there were so many people around her and it was so loud and that she didn't know most of the people here and the crowd was huge and was it just her or was the room shrinking and suddenly she couldn't breathe and-

It was easier to focus on doing. Henry stopped her from her process of doing, of going, and her focus shifted to him. She opened her mouth in protest as he implied that since technically he was her big brother, he should be able to boss her around. He pulled her off to the side a little bit. Her brow furrowed, indignant and forming a retort something along the lines of "you still can't tell me what to do!" She wasn't actually angry, at him, of course. The two often had friendly banter between the two of them that she quite enjoyed. Rose, in some cases, would pretend to be angry at him, but both of them knew that she didn't mean it at all. But she wasn't able to speak before Henry continued, addressing what he really wanted to say.

"No matter what happens this year or who we're friends with, we'll always have each other's backs and protect each other. We'll always need each other, after all we're family, Rose and family is forever."

She smiled. Inside, she almost felt like running towards him and giving him the biggest hug and crying. Almost. Her heart melted a little at his words, and he could see it if he looked in her eyes. The eyes were the window to the heart, some people said. Right now, Rose's windows were wide open as she looked at her older brother. He could see right down into her heart and see that he had really touched her heart by saying that. His hand had stayed on her elbow, and for a moment the crowd of students didn't seem to exist around Rose and Henry. Only Henry. He grounded her there. "Always," she whispered, lifting her hand to touch his arm, just above his elbow. There they stayed linked together, making eye contact, creating trust between them as family, siblings, friends, human beings deciding to brave the world together, only for a couple of brief seconds. She hadn't noticed how bright blue his eyes were before. They almost, almost looked like her mom's, but in a much gentler, quieter, way. As if he was there for her. She knew he was.

She squeezed his arm a little as he let go of her and they made their way over to the Gryffindor Table.

Rose grinned. "I guess not. I used to think that third years were so big and smart and way too cool for me, but here I am," she said. "It's funny how that happens, isn't it? You always think a grade or a phase in your life is so big, so far away, until it's actually there. I've only just started saying that I'm thirteen without hesitating." It was strange, wasn't it? How one day you were twelve, and the next day, you were thirteen, without even an extra freckle to show for it? But the world was funny like that. Rose didn't feel like a third year, not yet. She didn't think she would feel quite like a third year until she was a couple months into her third year, anyway. It was even stranger to call her siblings second years, fourth years, fifth years, since they all had moved up a grade themselves. It was less hard to consider Jess as a first year, since they had all been anticipating it for so long, it felt natural by now.

Rose nodded. "I'm taking Care of Magical Creatures, Muggle Studies and Ancient Runes, and I'm very excited for those in particular. I'm also taking Divination, which I'm not sure about yet. I've heard bad things and good things about Divination, so we'll just have to see, I guess," she said with a smile.

Care of Magical Creatures was pretty obvious- Rose was an animal lover and animals had always, always fascinated her. How they worked, how they behaved, interacting with them. She just couldn't wait to meet all kinds of animals over her studies this year. As for Muggle Studies, she had wanted to take that for her dad. She had wanted to know his world, his experiences. She already knew all that she wanted to know about her mother's, save for going to Ilvermorny. (All of her friends were here, but it would still be pretty cool to go to Ilvermorny). There was one History of Magic lesson at the beginning of the year last year that had interested her, about ancient runes. Ever since then she had decided to take it, since she thought it would be particularly cool to take. Divination, however, was a risk she was willing to take. Either she would be very good at it and enjoy it, or she would risk an A (oh no, not an A...) in that class. But she was willing to take the risk to try something new.

"What about you? Excited? Which ones are you taking?"

Rose watched the big oak doors, the ones that she knew her sister, Jessica, was behind, waiting to be sorted. "Which house do you think Jess'll be in?" she asked Henry. "I know you don't know her well, but still."

Silence. A Moment. Rose touched his arm, millimeters below his elbow and he softly smiled toward her response. The two for a moment were linked together, shared a connection and it felt like the rest of the hall faded away.

The noise around him soften away, the other students faded from his view. For a moment all he could see is Rose, the two had a connection.

Lasting for a moment or so

Then everything came back and Henry offered Rose a smile, following her to the gryffindor table where unfortunately the red head he spot sent Scarlett Aden and actually another. The teen apologized to her before taking a seat besides Rose and turning his attention to her.

Loki leaped from his shoulder and sat on the bench besides his owner, amber eyes examining those who sat at the table as Henry nodded and listened to Rose. Listened to his step sister. His sister.

The teen nodded toward Rose's words, he actually felr rather the same. It was odd to consider himself a third year, to officially be a teenage at thirteen. To be the same age and in the same year that his elder brother was their birth mum died... when he no longer was human... when he became a monster... a werewolf...

Henry couldn't help but imagined and see images of that night flash by, a blur almost since he couldn't exactly remember that night which was odd since he could remember nearly everything else. Nearly. Whenever the teen pictured himself as a third year, that's all he could see. That's all his mind would allow him to see.

"I understand that, you think something is so far then you reach it and everything..." Henry spoke feeling the words leave his mouth, his mind spiraled with thoughts while his anxiety loom ahead. The third year didn't want to worry Rose, after all he considered worrying his responsibility so instead the teen offered a soft smile and continued" and everything doesn't quite feel real," the words wasn't exactly what Henry was going to say but he couldn't bring himself to say the truth. He couldn't allow himself to bring Rose down or ruin her night. He couldn't....

Henry nodded toward Rose words about the classes that she will be taking that year, the third year wondered if they had any classes together. Perhaps he could ask to compare schedules next or maybe the next morning since he wasn't sure if she had her schedule on her that night. The teen took a moment and breath before speaking" I'm taking the normal eight classes this year along with Care of magical creatures, ancient ruins, muggle studies, and I don't really believe in it but some friends convinced me so I'm also taking divination only because I really want to take arithmancy and it's a part of divination," the teen planned to take everything he could and learn as much as he could during his years at Hogwarts.

It wasn't a surprise that Henry was taking Care Of Magical Creatures, he was a animal lover and creature fan. The boy always looked for ways to learn about them and interact with them, not to mention he was looking at a life as a magizoologist. Ancient ruins was also not a surprise since the third year have been interested with the subject since first reading his elder brothers textbooks as a small child and falling in lover with the subject. Muggle Studies was because the teen wanted to learn about the muggle world and the world that his girlfriend was use to and the other half of the world that his sto family grew up with. However Henry never have been a fan of divination and doubted its accuracy, but he was willing to give it a try esepcailly after Cash convinced him to join them in the class.

"Do you think we have any classes together? Would you like to compare schedules tomorrow?" Henry asked Rose as he moved his blue eyes along the table, looking for something to eat as he put a single potato on his plate with a few carrots. The teen moved his blue eyes toward Rose, listening to her words as he nodded toward them with a soft smile the rest of his emotions remained hidden behind the 'barrier'.

Henry thought about the question for a moment, he didn't know Jess that well but he thought he knew her a bit. Henry's experience with the young girl haven't been great.... the teen thought she was self conscious and rather ambitious however he also thought she was a but obnoxious and donned a high pitched voice. Not to mention the teen might have locked her in the basement over the summer but she was asking him a million questions and refused to leave him alone.

"Slytherin or Gryffindor, what do you think?"

Before and During Sorting

School Robes
======================================
Rose nodded. It didn't feel quite real. She remembered two years ago, when she first came to Hogwarts, Faith had been a third year. It had seemed big, huge. Back then, Rose had been scared, but she had also been happy. Her siblings were together then, at least. Jessica had Gabe, Gabe had Jessica. Her older siblings had each other. Rose had been lonely and scared, but at least everybody else had been happy, right? They had been happy. Sometimes Rose wished she could go back to those days where everything was simple. Before romance, before enemies. Just her and herself against the world, and everybody had been happy. No stepdad, no neglect that Jessica had to go through alone.

But then she would always push the thought away. She had been lonely now, and now she had Henry. Even though sometimes she wished that life wasn't so complicated, she wouldn't give Henry up for anything.

Rose shook away the thoughts. This was a new year. A year of hope. She was not going to spend her first day of the year, the new school year, contemplating what could have been. She was not going to spend it down in the dumps, feeling sorry for her past self and her future self. She was going to start this year positive. If this year took a dark turn, Rose was determined that it wasn't going to be her fault this time.

Rose listened to Henry as he told her about the classes he was taking. "Oh, so we're taking all the same classes?" Rose was happy about this. This meant that they could compare papers, work together on homework, and help each other. Rose always enjoyed the classes she had with Henry. "I didn't think you were going to take Divination, but your reasoning makes sense," Rose said, a little surprise in her voice.

Divination was a curious subject. Everybody seemed kind of skeptical about it, unsure of what to think about it. It was something that Rose was interested to see. She was trying to keep an open mind about it, but her brother did not seem to like it. It had been the only class he had gotten anything below an O in ever, and it made him furious. He had always been frustrated at it, and dropped it this year. Faith, however, seemed to be doing well in Divination. She always said that she didn't mind it, but never seemed to want to take up a debate with Frankie about it. She got really high marks in Divination, and sometimes Rose wondered if she had a gift for it, or if she was just really good at lying or kissing up to the teacher. Rose was sure it was the former, but the latter wasn't entirely out-ruled.

Henry didn't seem like the kind of person to want to take Divination. He was a factual person who liked things that were real and definite. He was analytical and intelligent and book-smart, brilliant in every way. She didn't think he would take Divination because it seemed very uncertain. You couldn't pass the class by studying and working really hard, as he was able to do. You could pass the class by having a talent. But he was apparently doing it anyway. It wouldn't hurt to try it, right? Henry probably wouldn't be bad at it- he was a very talented person.

"I've heard a lot of mixed reviews about Divination," Rose stated absentmindedly. "I guess we'll just have to find out for ourselves what it's like." Rose was curious about Divination. She wanted to sit in the room and find out what this was all about for herself. She wanted to listen to the professor and experience her own Divination experience. That was how Rose learned, after all. By doing and seeing for herself.

Rose nodded. "I think it's very likely we'll have classes together, don't you think? We have in the past." She sure hoped so, as she wanted to have classes with Henry. "We should compare schedules tomorrow morning," she said, nodding.

As for Jessica, Rose thought pretty similar to Henry. "I think she'll be in Slytherin. But I could be surprised again." Last year, Rose had thought for sure that Gabriel, her little brother, was going to be in Gryffindor, or at least Hufflepuff, but he had ended up in Ravenclaw, for reasons Rose had no idea of. She hadn't asked him, and had only puzzled over it. Maybe she should ask him someday.

The doors to the Great Hall opened and the loud chatter of the Great Hall quieted to a murmur as the upper students watched the first years preparing to be sorted. "There she is," Rose whispered, half to Henry and half to herself. Jessica walked in, an aura of pure confidence around her. Rose had been an internal mess on the inside when she had been sorted, so she was impressed at how chilled out Jessica was. The blonde practically sauntered. Rose and Henry were largely quiet while the Sorting happened, watching Jessica in the line. They chatted about little things, a little bit of banter between them, expressing their excitement for certain classes and lack of excitement for others. Then it was Jessica's turn.

Rose watched as she sat down, with the hat placed on her head. The Sorting Hat's features crinkled in a frown. It sat there for a few moments, seeming to contemplate its choice and weighing its decision. Where to put her, where to put her? It's face then seemed to take on a look of surprise and pleasure, as if it had finally found where she belonged.

"HUFFLEPUFF!" It shouted. As the Hufflepuff table erupted into roars, Rose's brow furrowed.

"Hufflepuff?" she asked the air. Jessica, from the look of her, seemed to share her confusion, and headed over to the Hufflepuff table, sitting near Faith, who seemed an equal mix of shock and disgust. Hufflepuff? What? Rose furrowed her brow. Maybe Rose had broken the Sorting Hat last year. "I did not expect that," she said to Henry. "You heard the Hat say Hufflepuff, right?"

Henry isn't that studious, he just enjoys learning and reading ahead in his classes. Academics have always been something that Henry has thrived in, he never found it difficult to get and keep straight A's or Outstandings.

His intelligence is one of his defining qualities and Henry have always thought that any success he has is because of that and his mind. The third year nodded toward the red head as the topic of classes stayed heavily in the air, the teen didn't mind since he enjoyed discussing classes and studies.

"It looks like it," Henry commented smiling softly, he hadn't expected any of his friends to take the same amount of classes that he did. Twelve classes could be hard to manage and while the teen looked forward to the challenge and hours spent in the library reading ahead in his classes, he knew that his friends weren't him and wouldn't take all the electives or drop a class like flying now that they could. However, Henry was taken back that Rose was taking twelve as well. The thought made him smile and somehow it made him feel normal for a miniscule moment.

When Divination became the topic of conversation, Henry turned to his plate and the table. There wasn't a by food yet, he wondered when the sorting ceremony would begin so that they could eat as Loki looked out at the hall. The feline's amber eyes watching the students, his tail flickering from side to side.

Henry turned back to Rose, his sister. Blue meeting green. Softly smiling toward her, the teen spoke" Cash convinced me to take the class with them and I want to take arithmancy," oddly the teen enjoyed mathematics and he have been looking forward to taking arithmancy even through it was a part of Divination which was a little disappointing but the third year was willing to try it out.

Henry nodded toward Rose's words, Divination had numerous reviews and it was difficult at times to know which to believe and which to pass by. Henry heard the class can't be passed by reading books or memorizing facts like with other classes. The teen also might have believed that prophecies and seers were faulty, he didn't exactly believe that one person or item could tell the future. Henry was an academic bookworm which led to his skeptics on Divination...

" Hopefully we have share a few classes but we should check our schedules in the morning," Henry replied with a small, soft smile as he looked at Rose. The teen figured that they would share at least one class, it would be fun if they were. Sitting together and chatting before lectures,
making jokes among each other and doing homework together.

The topic of classes and homework passed, Henry nodded to Rose's words on what houses and Jess. The teen didn't think that he had a right to comment on the topic presented, he only knew the girl for a short period and didn't know her well so he wasn't sure what to say. However, the sorting hat also worked in mysterious ways often leaveing other confused and curious with it's decisions.

Henry seemed like he should be in ravenclaw, the teen valued grades and academics often looking for ways to get ahead in his classes and keep straight Outstandings. But the sorting hat placed him in slytherin, at first the teen thought he was in the house because his family was in the serpent house but now he wasn't certain of that.

Henry saw Jess walking down have Rose pointed her out, there was a bit of first years that year and he wondered how many would joined slytherin as the sorting begin.

New slytherins, gryffindors, ravenclaws, and hufflepuffs joined their tables then it was Jess's turned the teen watched the blonde girl go up and sit on the wooden chair with the hat on top her head and then...

Hufflepuff

The house of caring and loyalty and friendship or good will? Henry didn't think the girl fit into any of those words but he knew the houses were more and perhaps she got sorted got another reason that isn't easily seen as the boy looked over at Rose and spoke" yeah, I heard that maybe she got sorted there for another reason that we don't know of?"

Rose wouldn't doubt the fact that Henry was taking as many classes as he could. Henry seemed like the overachiever type, the type of person to throw out his arms and take everything he could, and drop things he didn't like later. She wasn't surprised in the slightest that he was trying as hard as he could to do his best in everything he did. He would probably be effortlessly good at whatever he tried, too, whether it was ancient runes, flying, or care of magical creatures. Rose seriously doubted that Henry could fail any of his classes if he tried.

Rose, on the other hand, hadn't been entirely sure when she had chosen to take all of the new electives. She definitely wasn't as ambitious or knowledgeable as Henry was, but she still considered herself a good student, and she thought that she tried hard. She didn't know anything about the classes before hand, other than rough concepts of spells. She wasn't the kind of person who would read through the spell book on the train ride to Hogwarts, but she considered herself a fair student, who got good grades in her classes.

Twelve classes was still a lot. Rose had reasoned with herself, justifying it by buying herself a calendar journal on which she would plan everything. She was determined to be organized and on time to everything this year, though she was taking so many classes. If Hogwarts hadn't been a boarding school, Rose wouldn't have done it. But since Rose lived at the place she took classes, she felt she would be able to stay on top of her work and homework more.

She just hoped she would have luck in being good at the classes she took. Maybe she wouldn't take so many classes next year, but this year, she was going to at least try. It wouldn't hurt her to try, right?

The redhead nodded. It made sense that he would have been convinced to take Divination, by his very good friend Cash.

"We've had classes together before," she said. Indeed, they had. Rose was looking forward to this year with Henry. Maybe some things would be better than last year. The balls, for example. And maybe, just maybe, Anastasia would leave her alone this year. A fresh start was just what Rose wanted.

Rose didn't consider herself brave. She didn't think she was chivalrous. It made absolutely no sense to her why she was in Gryffindor.

But... she was brave. She didn't know it, but she was brave. She was determined in so many ways. Once she put her mind to something, it would get done. She would defend those she loved at any cost. She would stand up for evil if given the chance. Rose was no mouse hiding in a hole. She was courageous, and she was probably one of the bravest people she knew.

Unfortunately, Rose didn't know this. She didn't know this at all. So, while it made sense to everybody else why she was a Gryffindor, Rose couldn't wrap her mind around it.

Maybe it was the opposite for Jess and Gabe? With Henry's suggestion, Rose pondered her little siblings' sortings. Maybe they knew something about themselves that nobody else did. Maybe they knew something that would reveal itself in the future, but stayed hidden now. There was a lot of mystery surrounding the sorting hat, but Rose knew that it was never wrong... right?

Rose shook away those thoughts. She had to focus on the here and now. Today she was going to try and look forward to the future. "Anyway. Are you planning on doing dueling this year?" She assumed he did, but she didn't want to just assume that. Rose really hoped to get better this year at dueling, since she hadn't quite... succeeded last time.

"That's right, so we will probably have classes together again this year," Henry replied with a smile toward Rose, discussing academics and classes is a topic that usually relaxed the teen or help put him at ease.

He enjoyed discussing them and learning new topics quite frequently, also getting and maintaining straight O's. Who wouldn't enjoy getting them and maintaining them although he never been on to brag about his skill set. The third year enjoyed discussing them and learning about them, finding new solutions to problems and new questions about already present ones. He wasn't nerves about taking twelve classes that year but also actually excited, excited for the opportunity as he wondered if he would do as brilliant as his captain; Dmiti Jones does in his classes.

Classes could take up the young lad's time and conversation but he didn't want them to, at least not tonight as he allow the topic to fade away replaced by other lighter topics and also silence in between those. Henry smiled toward Rose, listening as he eyed the table after the sorting numerous dishes and food appeared enough to have Loki eye the feast by his onwers side and lick his lips.

Henry listened toward Rose as he carefully placed a potato along with a few carrots onto his plate. Scanning the table, he eyes small pieces of beef and decided to add a few of those onto his plate for Loki. The third year decided that was enough, setting his plate in front of himself.

Henry took a few pieces of the beef and set it on the table in front of Loki, the feline licked his lips and started to gracefully and carefully eat the pieces. Henry softly smiled at feline and not wanting Chaska to feel left out, he took a few pieces of beef in his hand and leaned across the table setting the pieces down for the fluffy feline to enjoy herself.

Smiling at both, Henry wiped his hands as his nose pickled with the smell of the meat. His stomach longing for a taste while his mind searched for the smell, the taste. Henry took a breath, ignoring these wolf like instincts that laid within him always loomimg similar to his ever looming anxiety. Except, Henry could hide them a lot better than he could with his anxiety.

The teen heard Rose's next question, turning to look at her. Blue meeting green eyes.

A question that Henry had on his mind for quite a while, the dueling team. They might have won the championship last year but all he could see is the two times that was knocked unconscious during his duels. The two times that he failed.

Henry considered sending his captains a letter saying that he quit the team for them but wasn't sure. He might have feared what Dmiti would do if he did and he also didn't want Santario to think of differently. It was a hard choice for the teen. A choice that battled within him.

"I haven't left the team so yes I will," Henry replied with a soft smile now curious why she would ask that, did Rose leave the gryffindor team? He had a few friends leaves their house teams and wondered if Rose was one if them as he asked" are you still on the gryffindor team?" Henry didn't want to assume if she left or not so he asked, there wasn't any harm in asking.... right?

Just after the sorting

School Robes
======================================
After the sorting, Chaska sat next to Rose on the bench, watching as food was served. The food at Hogwarts was always mouth-wateringly good. Rose wanted to make some kind of excuse about not having an appetite, but actually, she was hungry, so she began selecting things to put on her plate. Nothing could really taste that bad, anyway, made with the skill and finesse of the Hogwarts House Elves.

Rose had always felt a little jealous at Henry's O's in every class. She didn't know it was humanly possible until him. He was just so flawlessly good at everything- retaining information, preforming, spellcasting, potions. And if she was being honest, she wished with all her heart that she was that kind of person. Rose's grades never ever dipped below an A, not even in the classes she hated with all her heart. Her grades averaged around an E. How could one just be so perfect in their classes that they got straight O's? Rose always pushed down the jealousy when it bubbled up. She was a very good student, with O's and some E's. But she always wanted to be like Henry- good at everything, with no weaknesses in her academics. He didn't have to worry about how he was going to preform on a test, because he could just do it.

Henry would do so much better than her at all of their shared classes, wouldn't he?

She squashed the jealousy down. So what if Henry was better than her? She wasn't going to worry about that now. She was going to do her best in everything she did, and see where it got her.

As the Slytherin set the pieces of beef in front of both of the felines, Rose smiled. "Thank you," she told him. Chaska often ate lots of "people food," just for the reason that it was so much cheaper for her to eat the free food here at Hogwarts than for Rose to buy a bag of cat food every month. She always had some on hand, of course, but Chaska much preferred the luxury of eating the food that Hogwarts served. She stood up, placing her paws on the table and delicately eating the beef set in front of her. Rose stroked Chaska once, then picked up some of her own food and taking a bite.

Chaska had never been particularly territorial over food, either. Rose had heard stories of people's cats snapping at them and clawing them for getting near their food, but Chaska did not bite the hand that fed her. Thank Merlin.

Rose had done absolutely horribly in her last year's duels. She had lost all of them, the last of which had ended in seven rounds. Rose had fainted in three. She still growled at herself whenever she thought of them, the epitome of failure. She had almost left the team. She had an entire dialogue planned and rehearsed to tell her captains. She was a failure, and she was only bringing them down. Rose didn't know what had stopped her, but she just hadn't been able to do it before the end of the school year. Why not? Why hadn't she been able to just quit and put them in a better position?

She wasn't sure. Maybe there was still a little glimmer of hope in her soul that someday she could be better, if she tried hard enough. If she trained every day without fail, and perfected her spellcasting. If she honed her aim. Maybe she could be good at dueling. Maybe she could make her team and her house proud.

Ridiculous. Whenever Rose even considered that as a reason, she scoffed at herself. No matter how hard she tried, she would always be a failure. At least others had some skill, some raw talent. She just sucked.

No. Rose calmed herself. She was not going to think about that now. She was not, she was not, she was not. This was a day of new beginnings! She wasn't going to think about last year and everything it had held. She wasn't going to let this year be like last year.

Henry answered her, saying that he was continuing to duel this year. She nodded. "I'm still on the team, yeah."

The friends, or rather, siblings, continued to chat as they ate their food, Rose offering some food to her cat, and making light conversation. If the rest of the year went like that night, it would be filled with inner doubts, surprises, and lovely conversation. And, honestly, that wouldn't be so bad. The two parted ways at the end of the night, Rose saying, "Goodnight, Henry. I'll see you tomorrow."

The sorting ended. The chattered started. Henry always liked chatting with friends and laughing with them, having fun and letting the day pass by. But the third year is still and always will be a introvert, a side of him preferring silence. The quiet. The moments where it's just Henry and a book, letting his mind take over.

Conversation. Words exchanged between him and Rose. Henry listened, replying and nodding toward the girl as he picked at his plate. Slowly eating. He never had been a foodie or one that piled his plate his full, preferring less amounts and skipping meals for knowledge.

Though the conversation, Henry gave Loki and Chaska a piece of beef. Nodding toward Rose's words, the third year usually gave his feline cat food. There's always a bowl for Loki in his dorm but the feline tended to think he's better than others. Standing down and sticking out his chest that most times Loki prefers human food and specific kinds. Normally looking and occasionally bothering Henry for food.

Their conversation on classes ended, the tene didn't mind. There would be time to dicuss them further later. The lad wasn't worried about thr extra classes and actually planned to start learning fourth year lessons the next day, armed with a list of charms he wanted to learn soon. Even if their fourth year ones.

Thr conversation passed, another came. Dueling. Henry's favorite sport. There wasn't anything quite like it. Standing on the platform, armed with only your wits and your wand. Dodging spells and casting your own hoping to be the first to reach victory and not get knocked unconscious.

The night dwindled away, plates emptying and students leaveing the hall soon. Henry got to his feet, Loki crawling up to his inner right shoulder when he sat. The third year walking out with his friend- sister and into the great hall where they woild depart. In differnt directions.

"Night, Rose. I'll see you in the morning."
