Charm The Bubble-Producing Charm, First Year

Backdated to Cosmo's first year
Muggle bubbles were a part of many children's biggest joys, and for Cosmo it was no different. She had spent many a happy afternoon sitting in the sun with Grandpa Ace, blowing bubbles for hours. The memory held a special place in her heart, and Cosmo hoped that one day she would be able to share this spell with her Grandfather too.

As people lined up Cosmo peered at the five candidates. She recognised two familiar faces from her common room, and so she joined the queue behind Allison Gibbs, liking her friendly eyes. People in front all took their turns, some taking longer than others of course, but eventually it was the young Gryffindors go, and she levelled her wand at Allison with a shy smile.

"Bull-air-rum... Im- Immort-arlem," she stumbled over the words, and huffed out a small breath when it didn't work. People beside her were casting their own spells and she listened to them, muttering along in time for a few moments. Ready to try again, Cosmo faced her target and slowly uttered the incantation in time with the student beside her, using their voice as a guide.

"Bullarum Immortalem!" True enough, the bubbles came forth, and Cosmo giggled in delight, before moving aside for the next person to have their turn.
Professor Edit: While Cosmo succeeded in producing bubbles, they were not exactly the ones the spell was meant to produce. "Not bad, but be a bit more careful with the incantation." Zahid gave her an encouraging smile as he repeated the proper pronunciation for her.
Bullarum Immortalem not learned

As you did not include the proper pronunciation of the spell, you did not learn it.
You can still learn the spell by making a new post writing how you try again - just make sure to include both the wandmovement and the pronunciation this time.

Noah left his wand in his pocket, and pressing his thumb to his temple, he chanted under his breath a few times, BUL-la-rum im-MOR-ta-lem, BUL-la-rum im-MOR-ta-lem, BUL-la-rum im-MOR-ta-lem. He was bound to memorize the enunciation, one way or another. Bullarum Immortalem seemed to be pretty interesting, as it produced bubbles that you would see on the Christmas tree out in the Great Hall when the wintery holiday rolls around, at least according to Barry, Wally, and Timmy, who've all seen the tree in the past. Giving himself some practice, at least five times.

"BUL-la-rum im-MOR-ta-lem, BUL-la-rum im-MOR-ta-lem, BUL-la-rum im-MOR-ta-lem. BUL-la-rum im-MOR-ta-lem, BUL-la-rum im-MOR-ta-lem, BUL-la-rum im-MOR-ta-lem." He picked up his wand, as he felt ready. Picking a person to practice on was hard, as there seemed to be crowds around each of them, but he ended up deciding on Tania Ojeda, who was taller than he was by two feet. "BUL-larum im-MOR-ta-lem!" Noah shrieked, attempting to hit the ravenclaw of a higher year, pointing his wand straight, as there was no reason to do a gesture with it, but yet he shook his arm accidentally. It failed. The bubble appeared to be in a green hue with the bubble being in a shape of the number nine.

Noah sighed. This moment comes every time, and he ends up perfecting it. "BUL-la-rum im-MOR-ta-lem!" He said, attempting to keep the wand straighter and towards the target. He tried his hardest not to flinch or twitch at all. It seemed to exceed as he didn't come across an oddly colored bubble or a uniquely shaped bubble. Smiling, he turned to the professor. "How did I do?"

Backdated to Mei's first year
Mei walked into the room for class. She looked up from the book she was reading on her way there and stopped in the doorway. The desks had been moved from there normal rows to one side of the classroom. There were also 5 upper years standing up front. She looked at the board. "Oh! We are doing a new spell today. Mei said to herself.

Mei walked to her seat and closed her book to listen to the professor. The professor introduced the class to the upper years. After this he then demonstrated the spell. Mei was amazed to see the golden bubbles. Once the professor finished he allowed the class to start practicing.

Mei began to practice the incantation. "BUL-la-rum im-MOR-ta-lem." She repeated it to herself a few more times. She then practiced pointing her wand and keeping it still. She continued to do this over and over again. Unfortunately she had to restart a few times. Learning a new spell had always made Mei very nervous. "BUL-la-rum im-MOR-ta-lem. BUL-la-rum im-MOR-ta-lem." She continued to repeat this over and over until she could say it without stuttering.

Mei walked over to one of the upper years and stood in front of them. She took a deep breath before holding her wand up. "BUL-la-rum im-MORE-ta-lem!" Nothing happened. Then she realized she had pronounced it wrong. She face palmed herself. "How? I practiced it so many times! How did I manage to pronounce it wrong! Mei thought to herself. Once more she took a deep breath and tried again. "BUL-la-rum im-MOR-ta-lem!" A line of identical sized golden bubbles floated from her wand. Mei looked bewildered. She had actually done it. She smiled to herself.

Another day of class where they'd be learning a spell. Truth be told, as much trepidation as he'd originally had when coming to this school, Matt was beginning to quite enjoy it. His worries that being magic made him 'special' had turned out to be completely unfounded when he found himself in a sea of other kids just like him - in the magical world, he was completely average compared to his peers, and the thought made him happy. No responsibility to be great.

Today he felt fresh and loosened up - he'd ignored his homework yet again (planning to do it a couple of hours before it was due instead) to sleep for almost 12 hours. It helped him pay attention to the lesson as he gave the spell an approving nod. Decent. It could be used for pranks but, just as useful, it could be used for art. A vain part of the Slytherin boy loved to be surrounded by beautiful things, and the thought of eventually being able to make unpoppable gold bubbles that would sit in the air around him while he painted appealed to that vanity.

"Bullarum Immortalem," he whispered to himself, repeating it and tweaking his pronunciation based on the successes of the people in the queue ahead of him. He'd picked the queue in front of Léon because the Hufflepuff looked like a good sport, and by the time he got to standing facing the kid he must've practiced the incantation twenty times.

Flashing the boy an unapologetic grin without the least bit of regret for casting on an upper classman, he tipped his wand at his victim with a confident "BUL-la-rum im-MOR-ta-lem."

Professor Edit: Zahid noticed that the Slytherin seemed to be quite confident in his success and rightfully so. Probably due to his avid practicing while he waited his turn. "Well done, Mr. Gray."

Willow. Loved. Bubbles. A frequent activity in the summer for her family would include a sticky solution for making bubbles. Bare feet running around in the back yard letting the air do the work to create the beautiful iridescent bubbles to float through the air. So the chance to learn how to use magic to produce them? She fully jumped at the chance.

Excitedly bouncing into the classroom with perhaps a little bit too much energy, wand already in her hand at the ready to practice the spell. It was another lesson where she would have to cast it at other students, luckily older ones that would know how to counter the spell with Impervius? She didn't know what that spell was yet, but was sure it applied to bubbles. It had to! She couldn't help but be a little disappointed at the fact that they weren't the soap bubbles that she was familiar with, but nevertheless her excitement stayed strong.

As she began to practice the incantation, it almost felt like having a bubble in her mouth with the way it felt as it slipped out. "BUL-la-rum im-MOR-ta-lem." She looked around at the other students who felt confident in their pronunciation before trying it another time just in case. "BUL-la-rum im-MOR-ta-lem!" This time her words came out a little bit more enthusiastic as she moved into a line in front of Miss Gibbs who seemed the least likely to judge her if she mucked it up.

When she got to the front of the line she gave the girl a wave and introduced herself. "Hi! I'm Willow, I'm a Hufflepuff." After the bubbly introduction she changed her stance to look more prepared and focused. "Alright! Bullarum Immorta-talem!" Her wand firmly pointed to her target as the glittering bubbles shot out of her wand! Yes! She did- failed. The bubbles started popping in front of her eyes and she gave a little squeak as Miss Gibbs casted Impervious to get rid of them.

"Ah! I'm sorry! I totally stuttered on that one. Let me try again, just real quick!" She looked behind her at the line and shot off a quick apology. She recentered herself and took a deep breath before readying herself again. "Bullarum Immortalem!" Her voice was unwavering and confident this time as brilliantly sparkling bubbles came forth from her wand, she couldn't help but pause for a moment, waiting to see if they were gonna explode before a deep sigh heaved its way out of her body. "Phew! Thank you Miss Gibbs! Sorry everyone again!" She hopped away happily into another line to try and get it on the first try the next time.

Professor Edit: Observing the young Hufflepuff's attempts, Zahid wondered if there was something he could do that would help his students be less nervous about practicing spells. However, it seemed she had quickly re-found her confidence, as her second attempt was successful. "Well done, Miss Anderson."

Learning a spell in history of magic? Della was excited as she stood in line—she normally enjoyed Professor Zahid's lectures, but she would never pass up a chance to learn a new spell. She could see over the heads of her fellow first years, many of them created a slew of colorful bubbles of all shapes and sizes. Of course, that meant failure, but it was such a fun failure, with all the colorful baubles floating around and bursting at surprising moments—the room was full of laughter.

One bubble had drifted to where Della was in line and popped on her head. Of course, she did not yet know the impervius charm, so she could feel a little dampness in her hair. She rubbed it away as she whispered, "BUL-la-rum im-MOR-ta-lem" again and again, making sure to get the emphasis exactly where Professor Zahid had said it.

Finally, it was Della's turn. She stood before the older Gryffindor student named Allison. Della smiled but didn't meet the older girl's eyes. She wanted to concentrate, and suddenly, performing magic in front of an older crowd had her feeling nervous.

"BUL-la-rum im-MOR-ta-lem." She pointed her wand directly at Allison, but something felt off about the concentration. And sure enough, a rush of small blue bubbles appeared about her wand and flew towards Allison. Hopefully, she had cast the impervius curse right this, but the amount of bubbles moving towards her might actually make a bit of a splash.

"Sorry." Della tried to smile and actually look at the other girl this time. Allison by now was used to getting to hit by bubbles, so she gave a nod to encourage Della to try again.

"Okay." Della steadied herself and her wand, pointing it once again at her target. This time, looking Allison in the eyes, she confidently said "BUL-la-rum im-MOR-ta-lem."

Professor Edit: Zahid was surprised to see blue bubbles instead of golden ones when the Gryffindor cast the charm the first time. Her Incantation had sounded correct but then, incantation was only a part of successful spell casting. Her second attempt, however, produced the intended golden bubbles. "Well done, Miss Barfield."

Seren settled in anxiously to the classroom, watching Professor Zahid and his assistants as she did. She knew it was technically not a required lesson, but if there was one thing the girl knew, it was that the more she learned before she left this place, the more she would be prepared to face the world she was born into. She had a quill and short scroll of parchment ready (how she wished she could use Muggle tools, like a pen and a notebook... Once she had found out about such things from her Grandmama's portrait, she had been genuinely appalled at how silly they were to stick with quills and parchment.) and began to take notes as the Professor spoke.

She followed the instructions, when the time came, to repeat the phrase. Her wand was on the desk in front of her, and she softly began to repeat "BUL-la-rum im-MOR-ta-lem, BUL-la-rum im-MOR-ta-lem." over and over, until she was fairly sure she had the words down, then picked up her wand again, moving into the line.

As they were moving up in the line towards however their volunteer was (she did not recall the name, she had been so focused on the spell), she kept repeating the spell softly, possibly annoying anyone in hearing, but she was determined to remember the spell.

When it was her turn, to her pleasure she remembered the spell... But she was so focused on saying it right, she did not put enough will behind it and nothing happened. She flushed red, angry at herself, and went back to the end of the line. The whole time she cycled through again, she calmed herself, letting her focus be on the full spell, not just the words, and when she got to the front, she brandished her wand with determination, calling out "BUL-la-rum im-MOR-ta-lem!"

To her delight, beautiful bubbles came out, and she darted off, out of the line to make notes on how it had felt.

Professor Edit: It seemed the Ravenclaw was in a hurry to escape the perceived spotlight or something along those lines, as Miss Yong ran off before Zahid had a chance to comment on her success. Still, a successful cast was a successful cast.

Dialogue: Liana - #09621b
Frivolous as bubbles may seem, Liana knew better than to look down on the spell that Professor Zahid was teaching them today. She was aware of just how frequently older students employed the conjured bubbles in duels, and how effective it was at hindering an opponent's agility. Hence it was with a determined focus that the girl listened to the professor's every word, taking note of the pronunciation and closely observing the indicated wand movement. It was not a simple incantation, since it contained no less than seven syllables. Indeed, she would need to heed the professor's advice and say the words several times before she could accentuate it just right.

''Bullarum Immortalem,'' the girl repeated along with everyone else when they were prompted to do so by the professor. ''Bullarum Immortalem. Bullarum Immortalem.'' Gradually, most of the voices died down and Liana was forced to reduce her own practice to a mere whisper. ''Bullarum Immortalem. Bullarum Immortalem. Bullarum Immortalem,'' the redhead chanted quietly as she took her place in the queue of first-years that would target Andrej Vonnegut. When she was quite certain that she got the pronunciation memorized, she ceased reiterating it and went on to practice the wand movement, carefully pointing the arcane piece of cherry wood at the floor and not making any sounds vocally so as not to cast the spell accidentally.

When it was finally her turn to cast the spell, the young Slytherin was as ready as she could be, although her heart was beating a heavy rhythm in her chest in apprehension of possible failure. The last thing she wanted was for her peers to see her being unable to cast a spell that most of them succeeded at without any difficulty. The girl trained her wand on the Ravenclaw boy, feeling, for some silly reason, as though she was about to participate in her very first duel.

''BUL-la-rum im-MOR-ta-lem!'' she incanted clearly, brandishing her wand the way she'd practiced.

Charm The Bubble-Producing Charm, First Year
It was so much fun in his History of Magic class, that he decided to attend another History of Magic class, since he was clearly immersed. Today, they were learning the Bubble-Producing Charm, Bullarum Immortalem. Apparently they weren't soap bubbles. Apparently people with the job, Baubles, could cast the Bubble Producing charm if they were successful enough to do so, on the Christmas Trees around Christmas. Well, that was news. He looked over at the boy from Hufflepuff. A higher year it seems. His nose bent, a brown mess of a hair, and some extremely interesting green eyes that caught his attention in the first place.

According to the lesson, this was a rather simple spell to learn, well, except for the fact that Cody was apparently daft, and he could possibly screw up the bubbles. But his partner was rather there when the bubbles had to appear. Well, Cody saw no mischief with bubbles, but he did when it came to destruction. To summarize this in it's total, Cody was chaotic. Why would the bubbles want to work with someone who would try all they can to pop the balloons?

"Right, Léon Fabbri. I think that's yer name. Shall we begin?" Cody uttered, a soft whisper turned cold. His heart pulsed rather violently, and he felt he had total focus. He was in the front of the line, as he quickly rushed up to the fourth year. Of course, the fourth year towered and dwarfed the first year part goblin. He used his complete concentration, pointed his wand towards Leon Fabbri, and uttered a word simply. "BUL-la-rum im-MOR-ta-lem."

Beautiful, decent bubbles appeared, rather than the bubbles next to him from the person mispronounced the words incorrectly.

Professor Edit: The Hufflepuff was quite enthusiastic, it seemed. Mayhaps he prefered practical lessons to the more theoretical ones. It certainly seemed that way seeing as the boy decidedly hadn't fallen asleep this time around.

Rachel was extra excited for this lesson for History of Magic. To put it simply, bubbles. Yes. Rachel was excited for unpoppable bubbles. Whenever Rachel's distracted, all you have to do for her to redirect her attention to you is say some fun words like bubbles, cookies, cute puppies or animals, and many more. That should do the trick. Now, as the professor explained that they were attempting the bubble-producing charm on five higher years, Rachel was a little worried. Many thoughts came across her mind, for example, what if her attempt at the spell gone wrong? What if she endangers them and many more.

But good thing the professor explained that they were, the five 'guinea pigs', protected by the Impervius charm, she was now a little more confident. Doing what the professor said, Rachel and the other students practiced the pronunciation but, Rachel might have heard someone near her say the pronunciation wrong and her accidentally copying it. "BUL-LA-rum in-mor-ta-LEM" She said unaware. Luckily she heard other students say it completely different from what she said and she caught on that she was wrong.

Clearing her throat, Rachel tried again. "BUL-la-rum im-MOR-ta-lem, BUL-la-rum im-MOR-ta-lem, BUL-la-rum im-MOR-ta-lem!" Rachel muttered while pointing her finger to her target. Now, it was her turn. Going in front of who the professor introduced as Allison Gibbs, the Gryffindor girl with blond curls, Rachel gave her a friendly smile then pointed her wand in front of the said girl and said, "BUL-la-rum im-MOR-ta-lem."
