@Ami Procoppio
There wasn't a great deal which Pericles knew about Ami. He was aware of the essentials, the things most students could easily learn about their peers: house, year, Quidditch participation. They even shared common grounds as Headliner writers. Yet in spite of how little he knew, and regardless of club affiliation, the young Ravenclaw had- at the time- decided he did not at all like the Hufflepuff girl. It was an unusual state of affairs, Pericles Dralt disliking someone. He was a mellow child with an aversion for confrontation, but mind, a child all the same. Their opinions could be drastically influenced by their loyalty to friends. Peri's intense attachment to reason evidently did not outrank his attachment to Ruby Cazares, and as Ami had aided and abetted in attacking Ruby, it was cause enough to turn up his nose in her presence. Never mind Ruby's role in initiating the squabble. Ami had outright manhandled him with her apish paws, holding him down so that her accomplice could set his friend on fire. A most serious heart-to-heart was going to have to take place before he would let go of that barbarism. Granted, the fight was buried in his memory, low on the list of prioritized thoughts flitting through his head as he returned to the Headliner office for the first time that year.

How glorious it was to be back: back in their homey little office, with its clicking typewriters and clunking press, the rustle of paper and aroma of ink. Pericles was enamored with the Headliner. He enjoyed the methodical process of preparing articles, the opportunity to research something new, to share what he had learned with others. It was less of a "job" or "hobby", more of a meditative process. The boy was smiling sleepily as he stepped into the room, already lost in a daydream of what to write, when he spotted her. That orangutan from the graphics team. Pericles had accidentally locked stares with Procoppio, and the smile sizzled out like a stick of incense dropped in the john, twisting into the ghost of a grimace. A patronizing sniff and deliberate aversion of eyes would show her what for; so disappointed, he couldn't even bear to look at her. He seemed to suppose that if he ignored her well enough, she would simply cease to exist. Unfortunately: Ami existed even louder.

As Pericles passed by, Ami's leg somehow, of its own volition, decided it was tired of staying bent up under her desk. It extended for a satisfying stretch, placing her boot directly in Peri's path. He had been so busy examining the ceiling in an attempt to ignore her that he stumbled, nearly tripping, narrowly managing to catch himself yet losing the book in his arms. It slid sadly across the carpet while Pericles shot a rather nasty squint over his shoulder, pale eyes boring into orange hair. It would have been easy to insult her immaturity, or even whine at Alexx, though he suspected that would only feed her satisfaction. So with sizzling indignance and composure fit for an heir, he resumed his straight-spined posture, scooping the sorry book from the floor and proceeding, wordlessly, to his seat. The siren call of newspaper writing was lost to the whir of indignant expletives in his head. How dare she? And why? And what was he going to do about it? Should he say something? Confront her at the end of his article? A shifty, cautious glance flicked over the top of his typewriter, an accusatory look hurtled at the back of her head as though it were a dartboard. Then he saw it: towards the edge of her desk was a bottle of butterbeer, far to the side so as to not risk spilling on Procoppio's project. In that moment, he knew exactly the words he wished to say.

"Wingardium Leviosa." The incantation was whispered, wand swished and flicked close to the top of his desk. Ami's sweet fizzy drink suddenly rose an inch into the air, glided gracefully to the right, and plummeted into the bin below with an obnoxiously loud clang. It was disruptive enough to earn her a few questioning stares, while the bottle fell to its side and glugged the last of its contents into the trash. If she turned, she would only see Pericles' perfectly innocent expression three desks away, eyes fixated on his work, fingers dancing over the keys. A busy boy. The page in his typewriter read "AELADMLWS OFPWMDOA KMSOEM TSKDTKQPJD JAMBX".

Ah... the Headliner Office. Although she had originally joined the newspaper to woo a certain blonde Slytherin, she found herself enraptured and enamored by the homey little office's quirks and the Headliner team's work. She no longer wrote for the paper, but instead, she had found her calling at the Headliner's printing press. Drafts and doodles of designs (both for the Headliner and for herself) were hung and pinned around her desk via thumbtacks, paperclips, and magic, and a stack of various colors of ink were perched precariously on a stack of parchment on the floor. At the moment, Ami was currently sprawled out in her desk chair, head lolling back against the backrest as she tried to flick little folded paper darts into a styrofoam target she had adhered to the ceiling of the office.

Her head snapped up as Nerd-icles Dralt entered the office, and a sly smile slid onto her face. Just the victim she had been waiting for! She held nothing personally against the blond little nerd, but since he was friends with Ruby and had backed her in their little tussle out on the grounds, she decided that she was morally in the green to bully the living daylights out of him. It wasn't like he was totally helpless, either: in fact, the harassment was entirely mutual. Ever the ditzy daydreamer (what a stereotypical idealist Ravenclaw), Pericles seemed not to notice Ami until he was a good few feet into the office, and the two locked stares.

Pericles was the first to break eye contact with her, and Ami's smirk widened into a full-on smile. Her giggle as he dropped his book (really, how stereotypical of a nerd could he be?) was triumphant, gleeful, and altogether arrogant. So proud was she of her immature act that she even threw the boy a wink, although by that point, Dralt was already heading toward his desk. Satisfied with her work, she decided to forego finishing her game of solo ceiling darts, instead opening a smaller jar of black ink and beginning to ink a fresh page of their back-to-school issue. The page would be transferred to a block of wood, which would then be carved (with the help of magic, of course) and then affixed to their beloved printing press. It genuinely took a good deal of skill to get all the graphics done, and Ami was truly proud of the work she did for the Headliner.

A ridiculously loud thunk and the shattering of glass made Ami jump, spilling her ink bottle all over her desk. "Motherf-" she swore, pushing her chair back as she jumped to her feet, scrambling for her wand. "Oh, for the love of God..." She hurriedly vanished the mess with a wave of her wand, but it was too late; the paper was soaked through, and she would have to start over. To top it all off, her bottle of Vegan Butterbeer(tm) was now shattered and in the trash. Immediately, Ami's head whipped around the office, attempting to identify the culprit. But she needn't have looked very far nor very hard, because even as her noggin swiveled, she already knew who the perpetrator was.

It was Pericles. It had to be. There was no one else who held as big of a grudge against her. No one else evil enough to waste a perfectly good bottle of VBB. He would pay for this.

Ami pointedly, loudly, unscrewed the lid a jar of a murky green substance she kept on her desk for the sole purpose of torturing everyone else in the office with its pungent stench. Her long, spindly fingers dipped into the jar and fished out her weapon of choice: the almighty pickle. She bit into the green cigar with a squishy crunch, chewing loudly with her mouth open as wide as it could possibly go. Just to drive her point home ever further, Ami took a second pickle out of the jar and strolled over to Pericles' desk. Standing directly in front of him, she shoved the rest of her first pickle, as well as the entirety of the second into her mouth and began to chew open-mouthed once more. Before she had swallowed everything entirely, however, she said very loudly, "Hey, Drawler. Just delightful to see you again, I'm practically falling over-" A pointed cough. "-in excitement. Aren't you excited to be a second year now? It's just so exciting, isn't it, finally not being a little firstie?" The stench wafted from her open, chewing mouth, encircling Dralt's head in an almost visible haze of pure pickle. If he wanted to mess with her food, then she would use her food to mess with him back.
