At being told Noah had said he was hungry so he could try to get to know Jack a little better, Jack stared. Technically, he didn't reacall Noah saying he was hungry; just watching Noah chewing on pillows (which gave Jack the idea he was hungry), but it was still a conniving move on the Gryffindor's part.

"I take it back. You've got the cunning of a Slytherin if that was the only reason you went along with pretending to be hungry," Jack stated, feeling a little tricked. As if he needed to get to know more people and grow more attached to them than he already was. There were enough people he worried about in his life and he didn't need any more.

"Who said anything about friendship bracelets?" he asked sharply, wondering if Noah could read his mind. Jack was certain he hadn't said anything about that out loud. Nor had he said anything about trying to scare the kid away. He eyed Noah skeptically. Was the kid a Legillimens like he was sure Vladimir was?

He blinked a couple of times as Noah...cried? He looked like he was crying anyway, with the way his eyes were leaking tears. Eventually, Noah began to actually eat a salad. Jack sighed and stood beside him, thinking of what to say before he said it.

"Look," he began slowly. "I'm...a bad choice for a friend. Seriously. I just make things worse for everyone. You're better off finding someone else to be your friend. I don't have any and I'd like to keep it that way." He was sure he couldn't handle any more guilt for making the lives of those he cared about more miserable.

Jack pat Noah's shoulder as he ate. "You seem like a good kid. I'm sure you'll find plenty of other kids who want to be your friend. But me? I just get people into trouble. It's happened time and time again no matter how I've tried to stop it." He sighed. "Would it help if I introduced you to people who would make good friends for you? Do you have trouble making friends on your own? Is that it?"

Noah Jupe couldn't help but feel apologetic. Sure, he was sad, but there would always be other fish in the sea, even if they aren't all bound to be friends. It was funny, but amusing at best, that Jack thought Noah to be a decent Slytherin. This is what it took to live in a house of seven brothers, himself included.

"Sir, or, Jack. If you don't mind, even if you are next to me, I would still like to be your friend even if you get people in trouble. That's what friends are for. They stick with you no matter what. But if you really don't want to be friends with me, feel free to just tell me who you know, that would be a good, and DECENT friend." Noah made sure to emphasize the word Decent, as he was feeling slightly isolated.

He took himself and walked out of the kitchen, then went straight to the Truth or Dare match he was supposed to attend. He grabbed his shirt that was magicked to his size, and stormed out of the building. "If you have anyone who would be interested in being friends with me, send me an owl." Noah concluded, attempting to put on his best face as he entered the room where Truth or Dare was being hosted, for his group.
