It's Just A Dance Closed

Lorelai had gotten lost (again). She had intended to visit the library to get some studying done for an imminent potions test but took a few misplaced turns along the way. The raven-haired girl realized this and was about to turn back when she noticed the impressive doors a few paces ahead of her. Out of curiosity, she went towards them. She placed her ear against the door. Someone was definitely inside, she could hear footsteps on a hard floor. She knew it was probably a dumb idea to open the doorway when she didn't know who or what was inside, let alone what the place was used for, but she disregarded her better judgment.

She peeped open the heavy door and peered through. Lorelai observed a girl dancing inside. She instantly felt relief when she saw that the girl couldn't have been older than her. Although for whatever reason she wasn't wearing a uniform. 'Glad I didn't walk into some important teacher thing...That unmistakably would have been the end for me.' The room appeared to be a ballroom, spacious and elegant. Maybe she would return here sometime, that is if the girl could ever find it again. Directing her attention back to the girl in the room, Lorelai noticed that the girl was doing some unfamiliar (though impressive) dance moves. She sneaked into the ballroom, careful not to make much noise when closing the massive doors behind her.

"Heh, well haven't done that in a while."She heard the girl speak, as she moved over to a pile of belongings Lorelai assumed to be her's, including, from what she could tell, a Hogwarts school uniform. Lorelai was determined to make a bold move so she started to clap. "Wow, that was really good! Where did you learn to do all that?" She exclaimed, offering the girl a smile of approval.

The Gryffindor walked further into the magnificent ballroom, closer to the dancer. 'May as well start up a good conversation, right?'

Ve turned around at the voice of someone saying, "Wow, that was really good! Where did you learn to do all that?" She stood in shock, "How much did you see?" Ve asked in a calm tone, when inside she was freaking out. Bates saw her shacking and flew down and landed on her shoulder glaring at the girl. Ve tried to calm herself, but instead did the complete opposite and started to back away slowly. She hated it when other people saw her dance, because she had massive stage fright. She thought she was alone, so this was over the brick scary to her. Her eyes clearly showing her fear at the raven haired girl. Bates talons gave the girl a hearty warning as he screeched at her, "Heh, I'm Ve." She said as she stopped backing up.

"I didn't know someone was here..." she said looking down, "Maybe I should go." she said as she started to walk to the door. Ve isn't the best with people and tends to keep to herself most of the time. She almost always it reading a book or listening to music. She grabbed her stuff and slung her uniform over her shoulder and made her way to the door, 'almost there' she thought to herself as she continued walking. 'I can't believe I was seen' was all she thought to herself.

"How much did you see?"The girl asked relaxed. Lorelai was going to answer the question when a creature flew down from the top of the ballroom. The dark-haired girl was thoroughly shaken. What in Merlin's name was that? Before she could ask anything the girl introduced herself. The animal on the dancer's shoulder, who Lorelai could now see was a bird of some kind, screeched, and Lorelai jumped back in fear. The girl introduced herself at a seemingly awkward time. "Heh, I'm Ve."

The girl looked at her feet, "I didn't know someone was here...Maybe I should go."The girl started to leave the ballroom. Lorelai quickly caught up to her.

"No, you don't have to leave. That was really good, and I have about a million questions for you! Plus you never answered my first question." Lorelai's gaze went back to the large bird. "And what is that? An eagle? How did you get him in Hogwarts? I'm pretty sure the only bird allowed in school is an owl. Did you smuggle him in? How did you do it? because I can think of an animal or two I'd like to bring to school that definitely aren't allowed."

Lorelai realized she was getting ahead of herself. "I'm Lorelai, just in case you were wondering. Would you mind if we stayed and chatted a bit?"

Ve stopped and turned around and smiled as she has calmed down, "I would love to. Sorry I'm not used to people watch me dance" she said her Irish accent coming through as her cheeks heat up in embarrassment. "And I'll answer your questions now. To answer your first question I am self taught." she said, "And this is Bates" she said pointing to the eagle, "sorry if he scared ya, and I didn't smuggle him in, he just freaks out teachers so they don't say anything" she chuckled going over and standing next to Lorelai, "As if how to with out getting caught, I can help with that, but it's a secret." she said as she answered all of Lorelai questions at once. She raised her arm as Bates made his way across, and nuzzled her head and climbed onto Lorelai's shoulder, "See he is sorry for scaring ya." she said. "So what brought you here?" she was honestly confused. Not a lot of people come here if they aren't in a class. Ve looked around at the emptie Ballroom, and noticed her stuff was still on the ground. She look back at Lorelai and chuckled at Bates, she smiled and sat down.

"As if how to without getting caught, I can help with that, but it's a secret." Loreleai made positive to mentally record to follow up on this proposal in the future. She had always cherished animals, particularly magical ones now that she knew they even existed. She hadn't brought a pet this year but she was praying to get a cat the following year. She'd love to take more than one, but you weren't supposed to, and she could get in quite a bit trouble if she did. Discontinuing her thoughts, she felt claws land on her shoulder. It was Bates. Lorelai was startled and was comically stiff, but also in her head amazed. She had studied plenty of eagles, and they were truly magnificent animals. 'Kind of funny though how the girl with the eagle is a Hufflepuff, not a Ravenclaw.' Lorelai thought to herself.

"See he is sorry for scaring ya."Ve said, prompting Lorelai to grin. He appeared to be a nice bird, even if he was possibly a little intimidating. "So what brings you here?"The girl sat down, beaming at Lorelai. Lorelai sat on the cool floor joining her.

"This is gonna sound so pathetic,"She chuckled, rubbing her temples. "but I actually got lost on my way to the library to study."Lorelai was really quite gifted at getting lost, this not being the first (or likely last) time it occurred. She lost her map almost instantly after she received it and had no sense of direction whatsoever. At least she was pretty sure she got the floor right.

"This is gonna sound so pathetic,"She chuckled, rubbing her temples. "but I actually got lost on my way to the library to study."

Ve nodded in understanding, "This school is quite huge, to be honest I still can't find some of my classes." She blushed in embarrassment. She looked out the window, at the cold wind blowing. "I think the Library is down to the left, the forth door." she said closing her eyes to get the picture. "What book are you looking for any ways." she asked Getting up and looking through her bag pulling out a random book, looking at the title then putting it away shacking her head.

She looked over at Lorelai and Bates, she grinned and whistled, and Bates flew over and landed on to her outstretched arm. "He might be able to get it for you." she smiled, "He does owe you one for scarring ya." she said grabbing his beck and shook it and let go, he made an annoyed chirp. 'Maybe I should ask her to see if she can dance? if I won't be so awkward...' she thought to her self. Her face quite visibly reddened she has never dance with a person, only Bates. She walked back and lied down on the floor, looking at the roof, lost in thought.

"He does owe you one for scarring ya."

Lorelai shook her head. "Thanks for the offer, but I didn't have a specific book in mind."She laughed."And even if I did I'm not sure Bates would know how to read the title. No, I was going to study potions, I think Ethel is going to test us soon and I want to get a good grade. Well, I guess that's not all. I think I might get a book on dragons or something of that sort. I've finished the book I have on magical animals already."

Lorelai was obsessed with magical creatures from the day she had learned about them, it was a passion of her's, to say the least. But, she was mainly there to study. She was scared to disappoint her mother. She had worked so hard to give a life for Lorelai, and she wasn't going to let that go to waste. The girl could already imagine the proud smile on her mother's when she looked at her perfect grades. It had made her happy when she went to muggle school, so Lorelai couldn't imagine what it would be like for wizarding school. Lorelai's mother never got to go to wizarding school, since she was a squib, and seriously felt like she missed out. But now her daughter was having that experience she never had, and it made her really proud.

"Wait there is a test coming up..." she asked, honestly she barely pays attention in Potions class it is her least favorite subject, and one of the classes she sucks at. She made a loud groan and fell onto the floor with a thud, "I hate Potions" she grumbled out loud, glaring at the ceiling. Bates who was previously on her shoulder has moved to Lorelai's to avoid getting crushed, as he landed he glared at her. Ve looked at Lorelai from the floor, she chuckled a bit and thought about her farm back in Ireland where her mother was, she had never known her father. She shook those thought out of her head and sat up, "By the way, you never told me what animal you would want to sneak in.." she said in a low whisper to make sure others didn't here.

She remembered that she had looked at her calendar before, and realized she had circled in red marker and upcoming date, and in big, bold letters it said 'TEST'. She face palmed her self for forgetting. she shook her head and just sat there in peace.

"By the way, you never told me what animal you would want to sneak in.."The girl asked.

Lorelai thought to herself for a few moments. "I know I want to sneak in a second cat. You know, since your only allowed to bring one pet? There are about a million animals I want but I think most of them are too big. I couldn't fit a dragon in my dorm, let alone manage or even find one. My goal is that one day I'll study all sorts of magical creatures. Maybe write a book. Not too original I know but it just seems like the what I should do."

Lorelai observed the girl, clearly disappointed in herself for not knowing there was a test. A wave of sympathy rushed over Lorelai. She couldn't stand potions either. It was easily one of her hardest classes. "It's okay I could help you study if you want. Potions definitely aren't my best class either."

"So, what do you want to do when you grow up? Dancer maybe? You'd definitely be good at it. I mean as long as you can get over your stage right. "She added jokingly, playing with a loose strand of her raven hair.
