It been five days back to school and Cash decided before assignments, day to day school life and all other thing that will keep them busy until the next school holiday, to be productive. The green eyes could easily choose to laze around in th warm of their dorm but not today. Today Cash decided for the first time they will stepped into the Duelling Room.
It is not their first time into the room since they had watched Starlee when the bubbly blonde stepped into the piste omce upon a time but Cash never do such thing and the green eyes wondered about such experience. The Cuban descendant is more practical kind of person, That is way they prefer hands - on learning rather than theoretical.
When Duelling Club re-opened and need players to fill up their house roster, the young Ironwoods tempted and almost signed their name up into the Duelling roster but Cash knew they were not built to become duelists. Their parents when both of them attended this very school were Quidditch players. The green eyes want to keep their family legacy alive, so they choose Quidditch instead of Duelling.
Before going to the Duelling Club room, Cash had slipped a note under the Severus Snape dorm for Henry to find, stating that Cash waited for the blue eyes boy in the room that Henry was familiar with. "What am I doing here?"Their questioned themselves. Cash was not much of a duellist, they are more expert in flying hence why they are one of the Quidditch players for the house of Serpent.
But Cash had made a promise to themselves. When the new school rolled in, they will do new things and stepped a bit out of their comfort zone. And that is why the Cuban descendant is here in this very room.

September 5th. Five days. It has been five days back at Hogwarts and already there was chnage, both the good type and bad.
Henry looked up at the top bunk, siting in the bottom bunk for a moment. A light smile on his face. He had a bunk mate again. Avery Chen, a first year who played the violin and who Henry enjoyed reading and nerding out with.
Henry thought his third year at Hogwarts was off to a good start, the teen moved his eyes downward back to his book and figured he could probably finish it before dinner after all he did skipped lunch. Again.
However Loki came walking into the from carrying a note in his mouth. Henry looked up and smiled at his feline who jumped on the bottom bunk and sat besides him.
Henry took the note and read over it, instantly remembering his purple or use to be purple haired friend.
Cash Ironwoods.
Henry moves off his bed, set the book on his bunk with the page saved mentally. Pulled on his trainers and green jacket, stuffed his mayhaw wood wand into his jacket pocket. Loki leaped onto his owners shoulder and sat there.
Henry then left the room straightening his brown hair. The teen briskly walked from the snape dormitory, through the common room and into the dungeons.
It was a maze beneath the school it seemed at times but after three or rather two years at being at the school, Henry knew his way around as he climbed a set of the stairs and into the light heading for the dueling room on the fourth floor.
Henry has been spending most of his time studying and reading ahead, he was determined that year to achieve straight O's again and become the top of his class. Only thing was a few things got neglected such as his new and ever expanding social life something the teen didn't imagine he'll ever have.
Cash Ironwood. His friend. One of the only two people he would call his best friend. Henry smiled as they thought of them, he couldn't wait to get his revenge from the quidditch scrimmage last year but also show them a few spells and dueling techniques.
Henry haven't had the chance to properly catch up with them either, well they did see each other at the welcome feast that year but that didn't count. So the day would also seve as the day Henry would be able to catch up and talk with Cash, also since their pureblood tell them about the family he recently met that summer holiday.
Approaching the dueling room, Henry smiled at it with Loki sitting on his right shoulder. The teen eyed the numerous brackets on his right wrist, one matched a braclet he gave to Cash for their birthday.
Now to make up for the last two months.
Henry entered the room, smiling at Cash as he approached them and spoke" Hey," smiling as Loki gave a soft meow to say hi to them as well, the feline knew they didn't like cats and then Loki pounced from his owners shoulder and went to sit over at the side. Watching the two.
"How was your summer?" Henry asked, nudging their shoulder with his as he added" mine was dull without you," Henry smiled at them then turned toward the room, looking around at the place as he spoke" shall we start?"

It felt like forever waiting Henry to show up to the Duelling club room. Truth to be told, Cash was nervous. Before Henry arrival, the green eyes wringed their sweaty hands and wipe it on their washed denim showrt that they decided to wear for today activities. When it comes to spells casting, there are 50 / 50 chance the spell that Cash did either would hit or miss their target.
The image of their failed attempt using the Levitation charm to helped Starlee got out from the bottom of a well down in the dungeon a few months ago still burned in the back of their mind. The young Ironwoods forgot that the spell would worked only to levitated things but not human. If only they did not used that spell, Starlee would not have a lot of broken bones courtesy of one Cash Ironwoods.
Luckily at the Summer camp, Starlee was happy and be her bubbly self again. No traced of broken bones or failed spells on her. The Cuban descendant is sitting on piste where the little steps meet the dueling piste. Aero the snake - Cash's new pet courtesy their uncle as their birthday gift - curled up like a ball not so far from them.
Cash was patted the black and yellow snake when they heard someone entered the room and greeted them. The Beater looked up and Henry just entered the room while smiling at the green eyes while he approached them. "Hey yourself"Cash greeted back in their native tongue which is Spanish.
Just like Henry, Loki mimicking his owner. The red mackerel tabby gave a soft meow as in his way of greeting the Cuban descendant. Cash smiled up to the orange feline. At the soft meow that was emitted from Loki, it seems his meow disturbed Aero from his little nap as the black and yellow snake climbed down from where he situated on the piste and slithered toward Loki.
Cash was not that worry when they saw the snake slithered toward the cat. Aero still a small seven months old snake, therefore he can not do harm to the cat since the feline is much bigger than Aero. As Aero sit near Loki, he curled up like a ball again and resume his nap. Loki decided to poke the little snake out of his curiosity.
The young Ironwoods looked at the exchange with a smile on their face, Henry then asked how was the green eyes' summer. "Eventful"They replied. Then Heny told Cash his summer was dull without the Beater. "At the end I decided to signed myself up for this year summer camp"Cash explained. "Home life too rowdy for my liking"The young socialite added.
It is not a secret that Cash only gave little to none fact about their home life. Cash did not like talked much about what was went on in their life to their friends. "I even met someone,"Cash continued this time they switched from English to French. "His name is Charle Alluring. He went to Durmstrang if I am not mistaken"The Cuban descendant told the Viridian duelist.
"A curly haired lad that somehow reminded me of you"They concluded unknown to the fact that Charles and Henry are related. "Oh yes, yes! Sorry for getting a bit side tracked"Cash said as they scratched the back of their head. "I am not much of a duelist as you can tell already. I am sure you can teach me how"The Latinx stated to the blue eyed boy.

With all the change that happened in the last few months and emotions that built up within the young teen, Henry was glad that he was back at Hogwarts with Cash. Something at least felt normal, hanging out with them. Laughing and enjoying the day. Not everything had to change.
"Hola, mi compañero," Henry replied to Cash's Spanish with some of his own. The benefits of being friends with a spanish speaker was you got to listen and learn from them, also Henry found a fee books that he was reading to teach himself the language to impress his friend since learning Parseltounge was more difficult than Spanish.
Loki spotted the snake slithering closer and took a few steps to it, to investigate. The orange drone sat down besides it and lightly pawed the creature once or twice. Waiting for a reaction. When nothing happened the feline sat besides it and turned his eyes toward the two teens, watching them with his amber eyes.
"You got a snake? Wicked," Henry spoke spotting the snake and avoiding his fear is serpents. The only creature the teen was afraid of was snakes, odd since he was a slytherin and best friend is a parseltounge but it was the cause of a childhood memory he tried not to think of.
Henry listened to their switch from Spanish to English, describing their summer holiday. Henry looked at their green eyes and took a guess that they didn't want to discuss it but if something was bothering his friends then he would be persistent and try to help them. Even if they didn't want help at first. Cash was no different.
Henry offered a soft smile as he decided to use French, as the young teen spoke" if you want, we can talk about it Cash?" Henry smile toward them as he placed his left hand on the back of his neck and continued"now or later, whenever you would like mate," Henry smiled toward them and if they wanted to would listen to them but if they didn't want to then would Lee or pass by remembering to ask them about it later.
"My holiday was eventful to," Henry stated as he remembered the following summer which had to be his best and also worst one yet, the teen looked over to Cash and smiled as he continued" I now have a Stepfamily and live in godric hollow again, also I met my mum's uncle." A short summary of his summer holiday as he thought back over it before offering a smile toward Cash and listening to them.
That was when Cash told him about meeting Charles, he reminded them of him? Really? Henry felt his head throb and stomach twist at the thought. Charles, the arrogant and foolish rich boy reminded Cash of Henry...
The teen hated the comparison but didn't show it, only a smile could be seen on his face as he decided not to lie to them. Others yes but them, no.
"Charles is a cousin on my father's side, I don't know him and try not to be connected with him so if you could not tell anyone that will be wicked mate," Henry explained with a smile as he pulled his wand out when he heard they were ready to start practicing or learning.
"So before we start casting, you should learn the stance since it isn't the same as riding a broom," Henry explained as he walked across the floor and moved a training dummy across from them but off of the platform then walked back to stand besides Cash.
"Which hand is stronger? That's the one you want to hold your wand in," Henry spoke as he held his hand in his left hand then took a stance with his right foot a tad in front of his left and knees slightly bent.
"You want to have the opposite foot of the hand holding you wand a bit out in front and knees bent or in a stance that you can easily move in. The ability to be nimble and quick is really important for dueling," Henry explained as he held his wand out in his left hand in a tight but also rather loosen grip.
"You want to grip your wand firm but also loosen, imagine your wand is a extension of your arm or a snake ready to attack," Henry explained as he lifted his right arm in front of him and held it firm but also loose then trained his blue eyes at the practice dummy. His focus on the spells.
"You should be prepared to cast and dodge at the same time to be ready for your opponents spell and also cast your own. Your focus must remain on your opponents every detail and your own strategy that may change at a moments notice," Henry explained them looked over at Cash as he smiled a little and asked" ready for the spells? Have any specific ones?"

"Did I ever told you that I got betrothed to Alec?"They inquired Henry. Cash was not sure whether they ever told Henry about the whole betrothal thing or not.
"I rather not talk about it,"Cash said to Henry when Henry offered his proposition to the green eyes. "But with how bad I am when it comes down to spell casting, I might spill my guts out of frustation. So, be prepare for it"Cash explained to Henry and there was a playful smirk on their lips. The Cuban descendant then listen about Henry's summer that the blue eyed boy shared to Cash.
"I am glad that your holiday was eventful"They stated. Henry then told Cash that he had a step family, moved back to Godric Hollow again and he met his mum's uncle. Though Cash and Henry were close, there is still a lot of things that both of the third years have not shared with each other. After the young socialite told that they met Charles, Henry explained that he and Charles are related to one another.
"No worries. I would not tell anyone. Your secret are safe with me"The green eyes said to Henry in French. It seems Henry did not want to associated with the curly haired boy that Cash already met twice so far. After the small chit - chat of catching up between friends already said and done, it is time to get serious.
Henry then took out his wand after Cash said they are ready to start practicing with the blue eyed boy.The former purple haired stood up from their previous position and stepped up into the other end of the piste. Henry then moved acrossed the floor and moved the traning dummy then he stood beside Cash.
"Which hand is stronger? That's the one you want to hold your wand in"Henry asked the Beater. Cash think for a moment. They are ambidextrous but to do things on daily basis, Cash mostly use their left hand. "I am ambidextrous, mate"They informed the Viridian Viper's duelist in French. "But if I have to choose between which one more dominant then the answer will be my left hand"They said.
Cash listened intently to all the things that Henry said when it related to Dueling. "Right. Gripped my wand firm but also loosen"They repeated what Henry told them. Gripped my wand firm but loosen? That does not make sense at all The green eyes thought to themselves but they nodded their head anyway.
Beside they did not have the slightest clue about Dueling, so they need to trust Henry on the matter of the hand. "My wand also the extension of my arm"Cash replicated the thing that Henry said. After the last crash course Henry gave to Cash, Cash nodded their head again. They processed all the things that Henry said, The young Ironwoods think they get the hang of it.
Henry then asked if Cash had any specific spell. "Uhh.."Cash replied unintelligently, There was a brief pause until Cash remembered one of the spell that they wanted to try it out but never had the chance up until now. "Mind if I go first?"They asked their best mate. Cash then pointed their wand at Henry.
"Bullarum Immortalem"Cash spatted out the spell. Soon after that, a strings of solid bubbles started to poured out from the tip of their wand and slowly flew towards Henry. When the Cuban descendant first learnt that spell back then when they were a first year, Cash afraid they might failed since Cash and spell casting was not always go hand in hand.
"Aha!"Cash exclaimed. Seeing they sucessfully casted the spell make them happy with the small accomplishment.

Henry smiled toward Cash, these moments were the ones that made the teen glad to be back at the school. Hanging out with friends and laughing, passing the time and enjoying the day. The teen smiled at their green eyes and listened, happy to be at Hogwarts and happy to be there.
"Well at least you got a snake out of your uncle, that seems wicked for a birthday present," Henry replied with a smile toward Cash, he heard of his mate's complicated family and decided not to continue questioning them about it as he replied" I told you, I would get you something on your birthday.
I'm glad you liked them, mate." Henry remembered sending the owl out to their best mate containing a sweatshirt that allowed him to try his hand at creating, a bracelet he half created, and leather gloves that he thought would he perfect for Cash.
"Alec Mason? Gryffindor duelist?" Henry asked when he heard their words about being betrothed to him. Henry usually had an amazing memory, he could remember anything he seen or heard no matter how long it's been but he wasn't sure with that comment so he naturally replied" I don't think so but the words on your betrothed is safe with me," Henry offered Cash a soft smile before lightly and playfully nudging them in the shoulder as he spoke" speaking of when will I be able to see the ironwood manor and see how wealthy you are," Heney laughed a bit, shaking his hair back as he looked over at Cash messing them about money and wealth seemed like a harmless topic better friends. Right?
"You won't be terrible mate, take a breath and believe in yourself. I believe in you so you won't be terrible at spells," Henry replied to their doubt in French. The young duelist wasn't about to let their best mate have a negative outlook or believe they are terrible before they even try, even through that was his own outlook with the quidditch scrimmage last year. Henry was different now as a third year, he spent less time looking at the negatives and more at the positives especially when it came to his friends.
"Thanks and I'm sure your holiday was great as well, was the camp at least fun?" Henry replied figuring that if they didn't want to talk about the summer holiday they spent with their family then it must have not been a good one so distracting them might work and their time at the summer camp could be better.
Henry smiled at their comment, the young teen wasn't keen to tell anyone about his family but he was glad that his secrets were safe with one of his two best friends.
Their catch up and chitchat has come to a end. The practice has begun, Henry originally stood besides Cash and slightly smiling toward them as he spoke" I know your ambidextrous mate but one hand is still stronger than the other," nodding slightly when they said their left then continuing with the practice and teaching.
Once the explanation is complete, Henry heard their confusion with the spell but nodded when they wanted to go first. Glad that they wanted to try their hand at spells.
The young teen would lightly jog to the other end of the platform and stand besides the training dummy that he just moved moments go and then would face Cash and nod toward them waiting for their spell.
Henry watched the bubble charm emit from their wand and a cluster of bubbles floated from the tip of their wand to Henry's face that will definitely make things harder to dodge.
"Try whispering your spells, mate. If your opponent can't hear your spells then it will throw them off guard but good first spell," Henry spoke as he saw how happy they were that their first spell worked. Now it was their turn as they took thie stance, mind focus on the spell, wand aimed for their best mate and then Henry whispered"Cantis," watching sparks from the singing jinx fly from his wand toward Cash. Now time to listen to them sing.

"Well, that one way to put it. The way I see it, it is one of my mother's ways to say that she is an absent parent"They told Henry. "Just showered your kid with gifts like it make any less better"They spoke out spitefully.
This whole secrecy that revolves around the Ironwoods - Ramiréz clan putting a lot of burden and a question mark on the Beater's shoulders. Family is supposed to be all about unity. Family is supposed to be shared everything. Not everything everything, that is beside the point. But still, family is supposed to be a place where you can feel safe not a place you felt that you need to work on it.
"I told you, I would get you something on your birthday. I'm glad you liked them, mate"Henry replied after the young Ironwoods mentioned all their birthday gift that the Viridian Vipers had sent for the Cuban descendant. "I do like it a lot. The gifts compliment one with each other"They stated. "Yes, that Alec Mason"They confirmed when Henry asked.
"I don't think so but the words on your betrothed are safe with me"Henry said. "I mean it was so bizarre,"Cash started. "I know this is all my father's doing and yet my mother did not say anything"Cash continued. "Alec and I opposed to the idea. of course"Cash concluded. When they said they did not want to talk about it, they did the opposite way.
Cash is the type of person that will open up on their own time and will. If you forced them to talk about their feelings out, they end up shutting you out. "Speaking of, when will I be able to see the Ironwood Manor and see how wealthy you are"Henry makes a playful jab about Cash's money and wealth.
The green eyes tried not to be bothered by it. They know Henry means no harm regarding his statement. "I hope soon"They replied in Spanish. "You won't be terrible mate, take a breath and believe in yourself. I believe in you so you won't be terrible at spells"The Duelist expressed in French. Cash smiles at the word of encouragement.
"Well, look at you Mr. Positivity"They make a playful joke towards Henry. It is so refreshing to see one of their good mates blossoms. "No seriously, I might be bad at it"They let out a small laugh. It is not Cash who looked down upon themselves but time and time proven yet again that they are a sub-par spell caster.
"Thanks and I'm sure your holiday was great as well, was the camp at least fun?"Henry inquired his good mate. "Some of it yes, the rest not so much"Cash replied shortly, hoping Henry get what they meant. It was when the time Cash attended Summer Camp, not before that which is at the Manor. After Cash successfully cast the Bubble-Producing Spell, a cluster of bubbles came out from the tip of their wand making Henry's vision obscured by it.
"Try whispering your spells, mate. If your opponent can't hear your spells then it will throw them off guard but good first spell"The blue-eyed boy suggested to the green eyes. Cash nodded their head. At this rate, the young socialite will take any positive constructive criticism. "Noted!"They replied. It is then Henry's turned to say some spell back at Cash.
Since Henry stood at the opposite of the piste, they can not hear what the duelist said regarding his spell. Cash saw his lips moving and a spark came out from his wand. Next thing they know, Cash had this urge to sing. From all the songs and all the languages this world has ever known, their subconscious decided to sing a song in another language.
Cash open their mouth and they sang a familiar tune but in a different language, good thing they have a good voice. Once it was over, Cash looked at Henry. They let out a small laugh. At this moment, this is what the green eyes needed. They did not have to worry about other problems that burdened them.
They definitely had fun and Cash was glad they took Henry offered when the other boy suggested having a dueling practice training with him. "That was interesting"Cash expressed once they were done singing. "My turn"Cash playfully smirked at Henry. They followed what Henry said earlier. They stuck their right foot out a bit and bend it a bit while their left hand hold their wand.
The grip on their wand firm but also loosens. The young Ironwoods took a deep breath and whispered their next spell. "Flipendo!"They stated. They did the correct incantation, pronunciation, and wand movement. Though a spark flew out of their wand, Henry - despite being covered by the bubbles - managed to evaded Cash's attempt to attack him.
"Well, that was a waste"They grin out and prepare themselves for Henry's next move.

Henry nodded toward Cash's words, the third year felt bad for his friend. He knew how it felt to have a neglectful parent and grown to accept that. However, the third year couldn't imagine a parent who doesn't care for their children tries to buy their love with gifts, the concept sounded strange to Henry but yet also he felt bad for his friend.
Henry looked over at the green eyes across from him, the third year was thinking of ways to distract his friend from their homelife that year and remind them that there is still fun in the world. The teen smiled at Cash's reply with him visiting their manor before laughing a little at their next remark, when the laughing ceased the teen replied" well one of us has to be positive here," giving Cash a playfully smile that lasted a few moments before fading into his usual soft smile as he listened to thie friend and nodded their words then the spells started.
Cash's first spell was good and Henry was glad that they took his suggestion as he watched his own spell hit and couldn't help but smile a little at the song they were singing in another language waiting a few moments as he spoke" your voice is so beautiful, you should join the frog choir," grinning at his friend ad he pointed his mayhaw wand at his friend and spoke" finite incantatem."
Watching the counter curse end the effects of Cantis, Henry nodded at his words then turned his mayhaw wand to himself as he spoke" Ventus," a guest of wind blew around him blowing the bubbles away. When the wind faded, Henry side stepped Cash's spell and looked back at them, figuring he could go on round without casting so Cash could learn as he spoke" try again, focus Cash. You can do this."

"You tell me"Cash replied back. "I mean the idea marrying someone at such young age is something that never crossed my mind"The Beater exclaimed.
The green eyes might married one day but it is under their own term, not in some kind of arranged married that their parents set up. After Cash makes a playful jab about Henry's positivity that Cash admires (though they will never admit it out loud), the blue-eyed laugh a little. "Well, one of us has to be positive here,"He uttered.
Cash felt a bit bad ruined this good mood that Henry tried to create. With that said, Cash nodded their head. They do not want to spoil the day more than it already had. As a counter of Cash's Bubble-Producing Spell, Henry cast a singing jinx at the green yes. Good thing the young Ironwoods has a good set of pipes.
"Your voice is so beautiful, you should join the frog choir,"The other boy compliment the Cuban descendant. "I did join,"Cash said to Henry. "Back in the first year, I think. But back then I am busy shaping myself as a Beater"They continued. "I think I will join again next year. Hopefully less busy so I can showcase my wonderful voice"They informed Henry and let out a small laugh.
Talking their feeling out to Henry is easy as breathing. If Cash could have a crush on someone that is the opposite gender of them, Henry filled the criteria but Cash already consider Henry like a brother. Being with Henry makes them forget about their home life situation that Cash was thankful that they have Henry in their life.
Cash still had this urge to sing another song but Henry pointed out his wand and put a stop to the singing jinx. He also cast a wind jinx on himself to make the bubbles that obstruct his vision disappear. "Try again. Focus, Cash! You can do this"He encourages his friend after Cash failed to cast their Knockback Jinx at the boy.
"Easy for you to say,"They said. "You are doing this for like two years, right?"They inquired the boy. If their memory did not fail them, the reborn of Duelling Club just begin last year. Cash sighed at Henry. Usually, Cash was not a quitter but today they felt like their energy was drained out. "How about two more rounds then we called it a day, yeah?"They question Henry.
With that being said, they move their wand for the Slug-Vomiting Charm and whispered out the incantation. But just like the last time, the spell almost hit Henry but not quite. The green eyes click their tongue and shake their head. Good thing Cash's missed their mark. If the spell hits Henry, he definitely will vomit slugs. Yuck.
They would not feel remorse if the other end is one of the green eyes' enemies. But it is a different story if the one who got cast by that god-awful spell was one of their friend, let alone someone that they cared about. "I think I lost my focus there"They informed Henry and give the boy a small smile. Cash hoping for the last round, their aim is true so they can wrap this session up. Soon.

Henry nodded toward Cash, listening to them. The teen offered his ear and support, wanting to help his friend as he listened. Choosing not to speak or ask anorher question, if Cash choose to continue then he would listen and if not then he would allow it to drop.
The conversation changed, switching topics and bringing up interest. Henry smiled softly toward Cash at mention of the frog choir, Henry was a part of it for the second year after auditioning last year with Rose. The teen found it funny how they were bith in it but at different times as Henry spoke"you should join again, I'm in it and we could sing together mate," the second year found he has limited time thay year but he was having fun so he thought stressing himself is worth it.
Henry is determined to stay postive and help Cash as be looked across at them, hearing their words. The teen hoped that it wasn't because they missed the last few times or were feeling down on themselves, rhe third year nodded toward Cash as Henry spoke"sounds good but don't think your free, we're going to practice spells till supper after this," the second yesr still was longing for some paybackfrom the quidditch scrimmage that Cash forced him into.
The slug vomiting charm. Henry swayed to the side, dodging the spell and relief flooded him that he didn't have to handle the effects of the spell. Bringing his eyes to Cash at thier words, Henry waited a moment then spoke"you can do this, don't overthink. Breath, relax, clear your mind and then cast." The teen nodded toward them, trying to help as he took his stance and aimed his wand.
"Tarantallegra."
Henry whispered as the sparks hit the slytherin, soon they would start dance. Finding it funny how first Cash was forced to sing and how they would be forced to dance. The blue gaze staring at Cash's green ones as he spoke"a example, as you dance try what I told you."
