wild... goose chase. errand closed

Scarlet couldn't help but have a peak into the Transfiguration classroom when she heard the commotion from within as she passed, she heard the unmistakable voice of the Hufflepuff prefect, Jack Warren. Being in her cabin and her group for the maze, Scarlet recognised the voice straight away, it wasn't exactly one he let go unnoticed, she hadn't really had a chance to form an opinion of him yet, but he seemed to be the type to cause trouble, despite being a prefect.

She was surprised to see the classroom empty of all it's furniture she was used to seeing during class, and even more surprised to hear what had happened to it, but was all the same happy to help them out. She had ended up pairing up with Paige Grant to hopefully make the task easier and quicker, but considering the two of them had only ever been on opposing teams in the past, she wasn't sure how well the two would get on today.

'Person I have mixed feelings about?" Scarlet thought, repeating the girl's words, she thought that summed up their feelings for each other pretty well, she hoped though that the two would get on better today.

"Yeah, I guess so," she said in response to Paige's question, "that would be something to look out for at least," she added. Scarlet continued further down the corridor, checking the floor for feathers, but she couldn't see anything out of the ordinary, but then she heard a faint honking of geese echoing from around the corner ahead of them. "Did you hear that," she asked Paige, "geese..." she said as she slowly edged to take a look around the corner.

In the continued stretch of hallway, after the bend ahead of them, she saw two white geese, "quick, there's two over there," she said, turning back to Paige, clearly the birds heard her too and they began to move faster away from the pair. "I hope you can run fast, because they will," Scarlet said to Paige, before running off around the corner, hoping her partner would keep up.

Paige glanced at Scarlet. She was a pretty girl, and Paige was sure she wasn't very mean at all. She just couldn't help but feel a little offended when the girl had cruelly targeted her during a water fight, showing no mercy. Some of that distaste was fueled by the fact that Paige couldn't hit Scarlet. "I have a question." She finally declared, as she glanced behind another suit of armor. She glanced at the girl. "Want to know what it is?" Without waiting for an answer, she spoke. "Why did you keep hitting me at that water fight?" She began to wonder if someone had somehow placed a target on her back or something, literally.

However, she was interrupted in her thinking when she heard some noise. She tilted her head, using her werewolf status to hear. Her eyes widened just slightly as she smelled the air. Geese. Definitely geese. Paige nodded. :Right, I knew they were there before you though.
She tapped her nose. Still mixed feelings about the girl.

However, she began to lose faith in the girl. Just because you kept hitting me doesn't mean I'm slow. Im very fast.." She huffed, easily catching up to the girl. "How the hell do we catch a goose? I'm terrible at spells, so I have to do it bare handed~" She looked at two geese at the end of the hall. "We just walk closer and attack like wolves attacking their prey~" Paige shook, her head, laughing as she realized what she said.

"Alright, goosy goosy."

Scarlet wasn't sure how to answer Paige's question, she really didn't have a reason as to why Paige became a frequent target of hers during the water fight in summer. For now though, the time passed for Scarlet to give Paige any kind of explanation, as they both refocussed their attention back on the task at hand. Scarlet smiled when as Paige tapped her noise, indicating she too had smelt the birds, "they don't exactly smell the best," she said jokingly to Paige.

"I mean we could use Reparifarge to untransfigure them," she said to Paige as she eyed the geese down the corridor, "but I don't know what these geese were before, but I think it'll be easier to get them back to Transfiguration than a massive desk or something."

Scarlet slowed back down to a fast walking pace, the geese luckily hadn't noticed the two girls yet, maybe approaching them slower before quickly pouncing them would give them a better chance at grabbing them both before the run away. "I guess we are pretty well suited to this job then, when you put it like that," Scarlet said, laughing too at Paige's comment. "It was random by the way," Scarlet began, taking the chance whist the two were laughing, "when I took my first shot you were the first person I saw that wasn't already teamed up, and then after that the shots were just back and fourth."

"You go for the one on the right," Scarlet said, herself positioned to the left of the corridor, "we need to go for them at the same time, or the other will run," she said as they very slowly edged closer. The goose on the right suddenly turned it's head to face the girls, followed shortly after by the other one, both now staring at them. Scarlet slowly turned to face Paige on her right, "you say when," she whispered to her before turning back to face the geese, still looking back at them, they needed to move fast, she had no idea if or when they would just dart down the corridor, or towards the girls.

Paige cracked a grin at Scarlet, glad that she agreed. She looked at the geese, then back at Scarlet. "I am horrible at spells. Like... very bad. Very little chance my spells will work. Teeny tiny chance." She gave a worried look at the geese that were once furniture. "But if I could do that, I would change them back to desks.." She looked at Scarlet. "Oh dang! That's true! Will we have to carry struggling geese back to the classroom then turn them into furniture? Oh man..." She ran her hand through her hair.

Scarlet brought up the water fight, and at first Paige was confused. "Oh." Was all she could say. "Okay then." She turned to the geese before adding, "I guess that's okay then." Scarlet took action, making a plan. Paige nodded and gave "uh huhs", feeling like that one kid who pretended he came up with the plan too so he get's credit. But that wasn't it. She was still helping.

She tilted her head. "How do we even grab them?" Shaking her head, she waved her hand. "Whatever." Turning to Scarlet, she took a deep breath. "Okay, 3... 2... 1.." She saw the geese looking at them. "Now, NOW!" She darted to the goose on the right, watching as it paniced. It was just like basketball, watch their moves, interprets what they will do next, block! Don't let the goose run away. She held out her hands as the goose ran in circles, making loud honking noises.

She pounced, and tumbled to the ground, grabbing the goose's leg. It waved it's wings, being very loud. She couldn't help but laugh as it fluttered all around her, she was still holding it's leg. She could only hope Scarlet was able to grab her goose.

The goose started pecking her arm, and she scowled. "Hey! Ow!" She swatted it's beak away, then it went for her face. With a struggle, she managed to keep holding it's leg, and cover her face with her free arm.

"Ger-off me!" She swatted it away again and rolled away, holding her arm outstretched. She grabbed it's neck, but she didn't squeeze. She held it close to her side, and with her left arm she held it's wings down as she also held the goose. "Well, that was fun." She looked at Scarlet. "I nearly died."

Scarlet waited for Paige's signal, being extra careful not to make any sudden movements, or any movement altogether if she could help it, the girls had taken their time getting this close to the geese and she didn't want to have to do it all over again. When Paige began the countdown from three, Scarlet's attention focussed on the goose in front of her, 'don't mess it up," she thought, not particularly about Paige, but rather the pair of them, she thought though that the girl's reflexes should be fast enough to catch a goose from the way she had dodged so many of Scarlet's attacks in the water fight.

"Now, NOW!" Paige shouted, with which Scarlet lunged forward, open arms, at the goose, she didn't know exactly what part of a goose would be easiest to grab it from, if any, but it's not like she managed to grab anything anyway. Both geese were quick to react as soon as both the girls moved, the goose on the left ran out of the way of Scarlet's outstretched hands, causing her to stumble forward onto the ground. Scarlet quickly got up, ready to give chase to the goose she had expected to try and make a run for it, but she had only gotten up on her knees when she got a face full of white feathers, accompanied with a loud honking noise.

"Urrhh! Get off!! she said as the goose continued it's attack, Scarlet made a grab for it's body, aiming for some kind of hug-grab to stop the goose from flapping it's wings about. She was successful for about ten seconds until she turned to see how Paige was getting on, shocked to see hers was just as aggressive, trying to peck at her face, Scarlet's goose saw and took it's chance to break free. In this quick sprint however, Scarlet found she easily caught up with the bird and made a half-dive type action towards it, this time she kept one hand wrapped around the goose's body and the other on one of it's legs, it wasn't getting away again.

She smiled as she saw Paige had also managed to catch her goose, "I don't know if this is gonna be worth the trouble you know," she said, noting the stray feathers on her and Paige's clothes. "I know, I didn't think geese could be so aggressive," she said in response to Paige, "lets get these back to Transfiguration before they ready themselves for round two," she added jokingly.
