Practice Makes Perfect
@Cosmo KeithSaturday, August 4th 2021Samantha carefully studied the rules that were bolted into the stone wall. She wanted to be sure she would do everything right. Of course she knew how duelling worked, since she had watched every duel of Ravenclaw. But knowing how something works and practicing the sport itself were two completely different things.
That was why Sam decided to practice some of her spells before she would join Ravenclaws duelling team. She wanted to know everything about dueling, every little detail, every spell and she knew she needed to practice for that. Because "practice makes perfect". Perfection, that was what the young girl wanted, she wouldn't settle for less.
Determined to practice the brunette walked into the huge open room. Even though she had already been living at Hogwarts for a whole year, it still amazed her. The size of the room, the floating candles, the heavy oak doors, the cracks in the floor, it all had something magical.
Samantha had been away from Hogwarts for two whole months, because of the summer break. She had lived most of that time like a muggle. She couldn't even talk about Hogwarts or anything magical, because everybody at home was a muggle. They all were clueless about magic. Samantha was happy to be back at Hogwarts, to be surrounded by "her own people". She didn't have to hide that she was a witch here, she could just be herself.
The young girl walked to the duelling dummies, she could practice her spells on a dummy. She got her wand out of her bag, which was full off book about duelling and duelling spells. She rolled the dummy towards the back of the room, far away from any other students who was practicing their spells and far away from the entrance. She didn't want anybody to see her if she would fail a spell, that would be so embracing.
There were so many spells she could try, tarantallegra, rictusempra, spongify, flipendo, incendio and so many more. Maybe she should start with something easy. She could start with the dancing-feet spell, she had learned that one in her first charms class.
Samantha took a deep breath, "Tarantallegra", while talking she made the proper wand movement. The young girl's face turned red when she saw nothing happened. She had failed her spell! She quickly turned around to see if anybody had noticed it. Samantha hoped it had gone unnoticed by the other students.ReducioOutfit:
