A trip to Remember
Credits to @Scarlet SalvatoreThere she was, slowly walking and looking for empty compartments to reside. About 10 minutes of her checking, she finally found an empty compartment. She sat in and rested her head on the window eyes a little droopy since she was a little tired now.
She could already feel sick and wanting to get out of this damn train but she can't. Maybe taking her mind off it would help her in this situation.
She started wondering about her friends. She misses her friends dearly since some of them were moving and she heard one of her friends say that she will be attending Beauxbatons. Looking at her now, she realized how much of a loner she looks right now.
She didn't mind some peace and quiet but a little chitchat would have been nice. Lost in thought, or more of daydreaming, she was really trying to imagine something funny to distract her about feeling lonely.
Sometime later, she felt sleepy. Its not common for her to doze off when going to somewhere important but the adrenaline on her body must have wear off. 'I guess a little nap wouldn't hurt.' She thought, and then doze off. She was off to Hogwarts then...

Word Count: 320Colina looked around at all the other people on the platform. Most of them were students with their trunks waiting around for the Hogwarts Express like her. But unlike Colina, most of them had loved ones that were waiting around with them. Her father, Tavish, had dropped Colina off at the station but said he couldn't bear to join her on the platform. She knew that the platform probably reminded him too much of her mother, Amelia.
As the train pulled up, most of the students started saying goodbye to their family and friends. Not knowing what else to do, Colina picked up her trunk and started dragging it into the train. The inside of the train was quite peaceful compared to the bustling platform since it was still relatively empty. She imagined that would change as more students shoved themselves into the train.
Looking through the different compartments, Colina starts to feel that maybe she should've waited a bit longer before entering the train. Quite a few of the students probably wanted to find themselves an empty compartment, but not Colina. She really wanted to find someone to sit with on this ride. Not just to make friends, but to be with someone. She knew that being with her own thoughts on this ride would just drive her crazy.
Compartment after empty compartment, Colina made her way down the train. Eventually, she came across a girl sleeping in a compartment. Maybe not the best companion for the trip, but this is probably going to be the best she was going to get at the moment. Colina tapped the girl on the shoulder. When she woke up, she smiles and says, "'Cuse me, but would ye mind if I sat in this 'ere compartment?" Sure it may be rude to wake her up, but Colina didn't really want to scare the girl if she woke up sometime during the ride.

Waking up with the tap on the shoulder, Rachel looked up to see a girl about her age with dark brown hair and brown eyes. She didnt thought her wish would come true so quickly. She did wanted a little company but not now where she was unprepared, just woken up from her nap, and now starting to feel sick because of the train.Interacting with @Colina Doherty
"Sure, go ahead. I don't really mind..." Was all she could say, more like muttered, while motioning to the open seats. She probably could have said it more nicer but she wasn't capable of thinking straight at the moment. 'We won't be meeting again after this train ride so what's the use of small talk?' She thought. But honestly, she just really don't know what to say. She might be making a very bad first impression right now which is not good if she wants to make friends and socialize.
Snapping out of her thoughts once noticing that the place grew really quiet, she looked back to the window, focusing on the scenery that she can quite clearly see. Hoping to merlin or anyone at this point that this train ride or the awkward silence would quickly come to an end.

Word Count: 235Colina gave a small smile to the girl when she woke up. Was this really the best idea? The girl was clearly tired, she fell asleep before the train even started moving. Luckily, the black-haired girl didn't seem too bothered by Colina's sudden introduction, about as content with it as someone who just woke up could be. "Thanks, mate. Sorry to wake ye 'n' everything but I didn' wanna startle ye if ye woke up sometime during the trip. 'm Colina by the way."
Colina sat down and silence fell over the compartment. The girl across from her was clearly still woozy from waking up so she didn't want to immediately start talking the sleepy girl's ear off. Looking around the compartment, she could've sworn there was some sort of spell on it that blocked out any outside noise. The silence was killing her.
The girl across from her started looking out the window so Colina did likewise. The Highland hills and mountains were absolutely gorgeous, the few beams of sunlight peeking out of the clouds highlighting the landscape. She had grown up around this landscape her entire life, but she still loves it entirely.
Colina turned back to the black-haired girl, finally deciding to spark up conversation, "The Highlands are pretty aren't they? I grew up straight in the mountains my entire life, I still haven't quite gotten over how pretty the landscape is."

By what seems like hours of looking at the scenery, the silence was finally broken by the brown haired girl who she introduced herself as Colina. Not gonna lie, Rachel was surprised and was amazed that the girl lived in the mountains. She herself likes nature and would love visiting mountains and hills again which she and her family cant often do. She got a little lively then her usual state and perked up at the sudden start of a conversation. Without taking her eyes off the windows, she quickly collected herself and said,Interacting with @Colina Doherty
"Yes, yes they are. How does it feel living there? Is it peaceful and calm? I would love to have the freedom to go strolling around and just generally be outside..." Rachel asked. She was intending to just answer a simple yes but curiosity got the best of her and so she continued to ask questions and shared a little, just a little bit, of herself.
Hopefully, Colina wasn't annoyed at Rachel's sudden burst of words, even though those were just a few words she spoke, she feels like it was too much. 'Merlin, I haven't talked to someone in a while' she thought. Finally looking away from the windows and looking or taking a glance at Colina.

Word Count: 248Now that the once woozy girl seemed completely awake, she seemed very active and friendly. Colina was super happy about this, she would've hated having to ride someone who was super shy during the ride. Luckily, now the once painfully but briefly silent compartment was probably going to be filled with conversation for the rest of the ride.
Colina chuckles slightly at the girl's question. The scenery of Scotland was quiet, sure, but she couldn't help but think about the actual people that occupied Scotland, "Uh, yea, Scotland itself is plenty peaceful but that's not really how I would describe my childhood." Very loud memories of her primary school courtyard with a bunch of small children screaming, insulting each other, and just generally being loud flooded Colina's mind.
The conversation lulls slightly and Colina takes a moment to look at the girl in front of her. For the most part, she looked like most of the people she's interacted with in the past, black eyes, black hair, but part of her hair was dyed blue. She thought it looked cool and was curious about it. "Hey so I've like ne'er seen someone with dyed hair, it looks super cool, why'd ye dye it?"
As she asked that, Colina just realized that she never asked what the girl's name was in the first place. "Oh, mate, just realized I ne'er asked yer name 'n' I've been sittin' 'ere with ye for a bit. So what should I call ye?"

Hearing Colina's answer, Rachel was a little bit confused. But she shrugged it off. Guess her childhood was more lively and loud than hers. Another silence passed but this time, she can bear with it. It was a comfortable silence for her now.Interacting with @Colina Doherty
Some time later, Colina spoke up and asked Rachel about her hair. That question got Rachel off guard. Thinking about it now, why did she dye it again? Surely it was for some stupid reason but to think of it, she forgot. It was a year ago when she wanted to color her hair and her parents did granted it. Although her mother wasn't all too happy with the decision.
"I guess... I wanted to be different? I had popular friends and I was just got tag along to them. So I felt a little left out of our group so I decided to dye my hair to look unique." Rachel replied giving a sad smile. "But thanks for the compliment! People would just look at me and think I'm crazy for dyeing some parts of my hair a different color..." Chuckling a little bit at the last part.
Rachel realized too that she didn't give her name out yet as Colina asked her name. "You can call me Rachel by the way." As she said that, she got an idea. Clearing her throat she said "Shall we start again? My name is Rachel Davis, nice to meet you." She said, smiling while getting a hand out for Colina to shake.

Word Count: 219Colina was honestly a bit surprised at the girl's response. The wizarding world was full of the mystical and strange, an unnatural hair color paled in comparison to all that. Then again, maybe she lived among a lot of Muggles like Colina did. If they weren't ready for blue hair, then their mind would probably explode if they saw something like dragons or couches turning into birds.
"Well, it definitely is unique, but like I said it looks super cool 'n' works really well for ye. 'N' I don' think people who think yer hair looks weird could handle a day in the wizarding world, so ye have that goin' for ye," Colina says with a chuckle. She was quite happy this girl has made her chuckles a bit several times now. Lady Luck gave Colina quite the nice first possible friend for her to have.
Colina smiled and gave a small chuckle to Rachel's do-over of their introduction. She grabbed her stuck-out hand and shook it firmly, the Scot possibly shaking it a bit too hard for the girl. "Rachel, huh? Well, I am Colina, it is truly a delight to meet ye," she says in an exaggerated tone, "So tell me about yerself, we've talked about my background a bit but not yers, so what's yer story?"

Smiling, Rachel said,"Well, I mean, some muggles really isn't used to seeing people with colored hair. I once remembered that they were surprised to see a muggle with a tattoo!" She said as Colina took her hand.Interacting with @Colina Doherty
Colina shooked Rachel's outstretched hand, which was a little too firm and hard but its alright. 'Wow, she's got a grip.' Rachel thought. Its her habit to sometimes remember random facts of people that she meets. And she can be quite an observer. And then Colina did an exaggerated tone her greeting. Which made Rachel laughs a little.
Colina then proceeded to ask about Rachel's back story. Rachel thought for a while, she was a little afraid that Colina might think of her as lame or boring because her childhood doesn't have anything interesting in it.
"Well... I had an average childhood. We live in a muggle neighborhood and so my friends would mostly be muggles but luckily, I met some who knows about the wizarding world. I'm an only child, has a cat named Leo, and thats pretty much it for my back story." She said, not missing a beat. And then chuckled and said,"Was I a bit too formal at the re doing of our greetings?".
While talking, Rachel noticed that they were getting close to Hogwarts. How long was she asleep and how long were they talking? With that, she thought of a question."Which house do you think you'll be on?"

Word Count: 267Colina chuckled at the thought of being weirded out by a tattoo. A bunch of wizards had tattoos for purely magical reasons. Even her neighbor, Holly, used to have one since she shared a Binding Mark with her late partner. She remembers learning about it when Colina had noticed the scar on her forearm and wanted to learn more about it.
Rachel proceeded to go into a very matter-of-fact explanation of her childhood. Sure it may not have been the best way to convey that information in a conversation, but she probably learned more about Rachel that way.
"It's alright, mate, ye answered my question, regardless o' how ye gave me the answer. So I don' see the problem," Colina says with a chuckle, "'N' it's funny, I had a pretty similar childhood to yers. I am a wizard-born but Braemar is also a muggle neighborhood. One o' my neighbors, Holly, who happened to be a wizard filled me in on a lot o' the gaps in my knowledge in the wizarding world. Didn' have a cat though." Colina knew she would probably never have any pet, Tavish absolutely hated pets.
Colina cocked her head at Rachel's questions, she honestly didn't really think about it. She didn't know if she really fit into any of them. She liked being around people, so maybe she would be a Hufflepuff? But then again, are all extroverts Hufflepuff's? "Uh... I actually don' really know? I guess Hufflepuff, maybe, since my dad was a Hufflepuff 'n' I like bein' with people. What about ye, what house are ye hopin' to get?"
