Muggle Things
Marcus dropped the subject of her red robe altogether when she mentioned it was a story that needed to be earned. Seemed to be a touchy subject, even back when he had mentioned it during their first meeting. Maybe another time she would want to share. For now, he had shifted the conversation to the book she had dropped.
"I know he is a prolific horror author in the Muggle world.. I've only read a story or two," he revealed, thinking specifically of King's work Cycle of the Werewolf. Marcus had read a lot of books on werewolves in the past two decades of living as one, including popular muggle fiction. It was interesting reading their take. The things they got right and the things they got wrong varied across their different media platforms, and relied on their authors, directors, etc. He wondered if Professor Galim - being a muggle-born - had ever considered them to be real before finding out she was magical. A moot point, though, considering she was likely a child when she found out.
"So are you a big fan of his, or just getting in the spirit?" he asked, holding the book out for her to take. He figured she would want to put it in a specific spot rather than back on the precarious ledge it had fallen from.

It was rare to find someone who was of magic to have some idea of what the muggle world was like. Most of her colleagues were swallowed in their magical bubble and never really wanted to venture towards the unknown of a parallel world of theirs. But it seemed unlikely with Marcus.
"He very well is," she approved his knowing of Stephen King with a smile. "When I was little, I often read a series called Goosebumps which was horror fiction for children," she said, thinking back at her reading a bunch of books from the nearby library. It was a series she read while learning English as her first language was Hebrew and it was accustomed for all Israelis to learn both their native language and the universal language in school.
"I appreciate him, but not a big fan," she answered, grabbing the book from him, her hand slightly touching his. She put her tea down on the table and placed the book, unfinished, back on the bookshelf where it had once spent its time. She sat back down and grabbed her warm tea, taking another sip.
Maya looked at the man with amber eyes and couldn't help but to wonder. "Do you celebrate the thirteenth, Iwasaki?" she asked, wondering if it was his own custom.

Muggle Things
Marcus was unfamiliar with Goosebumps but made a mental note to see what exactly "horror fiction for children" looked like. He nodded when she took the book and explained she wasn't a huge fan, just an appreciative reader. When she got up to place the book back on the bookshelf, the Head of Ravenclaw turned back to his own teacup. He grabbed it and took a sip, its half-full status draining to about a quarter-full.
When she returned to her seat beside him, she asked if he celebrated the thirteenth. The man shook his head, "If you mean, do I believe in its unluckiness? Then no. Seems to be more of a Western belief that has spread through popular culture," he explained, thinking of the popular muggle movies that were based around this day. Muggle movies were quite amazing, but some of the films he'd seen had certainly left an impression. He never really understood the desire to see such horror on screen.
"Though I will admit there are quite a few days believed to be "unlucky" in Japan," he shared. "But not necessarily Friday the thirteenth." Marcus took another sip of his tea, draining the cup. His amber eyes turned to Professor Galim as he set the cup aside.
"Thank you for the tea. Are you coming down to dinner? We can head over together, if you'd like," he invited, getting to his feet. He had only stopped in here for a brief visit on his way down to the meal. His stomach was reminding him of this fact.

A nod came from Maya in agreeing with his fact that the "Friday the thirteenth" superstitious was a Western belief. It was definitely not something that she grew up with and she was glad. The amount of other superstitious that she grew up with were more than enough. The main being to always wear red as it rid of the "Ayin Ra" or "Bad stuff" which could be curses.
"I'd love to hear more about what is believed to be 'unlucky' in Japan," she said, opening the floor for more conversation. However, it was cut short when he thanked her for the tea and was heading out. There was something about him that made her want to talk to him even more. Perhaps he stayed a good amount of time in her classroom and office. It was best for them to part ways and get to know each other more and more gradually.
"As much as I would like to... I'm actually going to go a bit later as I want to get some things finished, but thank you for the offer," she said with a small smile. Maya had her mug in her hands and she reached out for his. She then took them to her desk where she would wash them out when she had the chance. She still had some grading to do and with class the next day, she wanted to make sure to give them their corrections on time.
"It was a pleasure talking with you, Iwasaki. Come by more often," she said, and she made her way to her desk, watching him go.
