Scarlet · Scarlet's Father
4th August 2018
Scarlet had eagerly be anticipating today, so much so that she could barely sleep the night before and was wide awake long before she normally would, especially considering that it was a Saturday. She had sat in bed as the sun was setting outside, reading through the last few letters between herself and her best friend Simon, since the last time the two had met in person. She had told him in her last letter, the one where she had been told by her mother she could finally ask him to visit the house, that the had something to tell him.
It had been about six months since that eventful night when Scarlet had wandered into the forest after her parents and uncle during the full moon, and was subsequently infected with Lycanthropy. She had already been through six transformations since then, and though the ease and pain of the transformations remained fairly consistent between each of them, she had now begun to get used to the process and build up prior to each one.
"If you're up you may as well come help me with this," her father called from downstairs, 'busted!' she thought to herself as she got dressed into striped dress her mother had set out with her the night before - yes that's how excited she was about today. Coming out of her room, she ran down the hall and continued down the stairs, once at the bottom she heard the faint cries of her cat Ashur, well technically her mum's cat but she was sure he loved Scarlet more. She followed the cries to her father's study, where she found it's source sat by her father's desk.
"Have you not given him breakfast yet?" Scarlet asked her father, as Ashur began brushing up against her, rubbing his head on her feet as he usually did when he wanted to eat, in return she bent down and gave him a gentle scratch behind his ears.
"He's only just come in, and I'm just finishing off something for work," he replied, turning only briefly to give her a gentle smile before returning to his pile of papers and books scattered across his desk.
"I thought you weren't working today," she questioned, remembering him telling her that he had managed to get the time off for when Simon was visiting, this after she had pleaded with him to be at home as he was yet to meet her friend.
"And I won't be as soon as I've drafted this document, that's why I got up early to finish it, he answered, "and I'm nearly done now," his eyes drifting to the clock on the wall, it was nearly ten now. "Now come on, how long are you going to keep the poor thing waiting?" he said gesturing to Ashur.
Scarlet also looked up towards the clock, a wide grin appearing on her face, 'Simon said he'd be arriving between eleven and twelve,' she thought to herself, remembering what he had written in his letter. She left his study and made her way to the kitchen, she gave the box of cat food a little shake as she took it out from the pantry, evoking another small cry from Ashur, before pouring him a portion into his bowl.
Scarlet spent some time playing with Ashur and gave her room another quick tidy, and before long the time was half eleven. She hoped they would be able to find the house okay, it was quite rural and the two had only ever gone to his house before, her worries however quickly dissipated when she heard a knock at the door. "Simon's here!! Dad, he's here!!" Scarlet yelled throughout the house as she ran for the front door, ready to greet her friend with a wide grin.

I've Got So Much to Tell You
At the door of @Scarlet Salvatore
Simon stood outside the house with the stone exterior and marveled at it. It looked as though it would be a wonderful place to live - it had space, it had style, ...it had a yard! That was something that most struck him, as his town home back in London most certainly didn't have that. In fact, if he wanted a bit of green space he had to take himself off to the park - which he often did.
It had been some time since he last saw Scarlet. They had various different arrangements set up to meet that had been canceled due to one reason or another. The letters kept coming though - but it worried him slightly that here just seemed to be something vague anymore. He hoped dearly that his friend was alright and he was eager to see her and find out. One could say what they wanted in words, or make the reader think a certain way, but seeing was believing.
He slowly shifted his weight from one side to the other and looked from the door and back up to the house, this time noting how many windows the place had. That was often something he normally observed in a place which was probably normal for someone who needed to avoid the sun's rays.
When the door opened, he held out a vase of beautiful and not seen every day flowers that his Aunt Maggie had arranged. She worked in this bookstore/bakery and they had a garden behind where they would grow the most beautiful flowers one has seen. They had been featured in magazines several times.
"Greetings, Salvatores!" he said, and moved the vase to the side so he could see all who answered. Perhaps it was just Scarlet but she could have been accompanied by her parents, who he knew by now as well.

Scarlet · Scarlet's Father
By the time Scarlet had gotten to the door, her father had also made his way from his study into the hallway, she turned quickly to meet his gaze, "go on then," he said giving her a reassuring smile. She turned back to the door and hurriedly unlocked and swung open the heavy wooden door.
"Greetings, Salvatores!" came a lively voice as she opened the door. A beautiful vase of colourful flowers seemingly introducing themselves, before they were moved aside revealing Simon's beaming face.
"Simon! It's so good to see you," she said, stepping aside and gesturing for the boy to come into the house. She so excited, she didn't what she what she wanted the two of them to do first, of course there was the important news to share, but there was time for that later. She closed the door behind him, that was a good start, "hello Simon," her father's voice came from behind her, reaching out her took the vase of flowers from the boy, "these are amazing, I'm guessing this is your Aunt's doing, is she well?" he asked him.
Scarlet waited for her father and Simon to finish up their conversion before grabbing her friend by the arm and leading him into the living room, "Come on, you can say hi to Ashur," by this time she expected to him to have settled into his bed for one of many of the day's naps, "I think he looks a a bit older than when you last saw him," she said laughing. She remembered Simon having met the cat only once before a couple of years ago.
Just as she expected, the cat was curled up peacefully in his cream-coloured bed, his arm resting on top of his face in a way that covered his eyes. Scarlet began to gently stroke his head, the cat responding by raising his head and presenting his neck, "he loves to be scratched on his neck, here have a go," she said as she gave his neck a quick scratch. Scarlet let Simon greet the cat if he wanted to before suggesting a quick tour of the house, she loved giving tours to guests, whenever her parents had any friends came over she would quickly volunteer to lead a tour as soon as they had removed their coats.
"Right, what do you want to see first? Scarlet asked him, "we can go outside to the garden or upstairs, your choice," she said smiling, normally she wouldn't give the guests a choice, but Simon wasn't some random visitor. "We can go my treehouse last," she added, deciding then and there that this is where she would tell him about the events of the past year, she didn't want the possibility of her father interrupting them, she just needed to get everything out.

I've Got So Much to Tell You
Touring with @Scarlet Salvatore
"Yea, Aunt Maggie is doing great," he said as he knelt down to see the orange colored cat who was approaching. The cat crept closer and closer and he smiled, loving animals but never having a pet of his own. Poor Aunt Maggie barely had time to keep it all together as it was to start trying to throw another living creature into the mix. He wouldn't ask that of her, especially during the school year when he was at school so much and not able to help take care of it as often as those Summer months when off on vacation. The woman did already let her nine year old nephew take public transportation by himself and he had for awhile now.
"Hey there," he said softly to the cat, patting his head and then trying the place and method that his good friend Scarlet showed him The cat seemed to like it and even looked to him questioningly when he stopped far too soon for his liking.
"Let's start upstairs," Simon decided. She mentioned the garden but honestly he had felt a little tired from spending so much time outside just to make his journey on the Underground from his place to hers. A break from the sun would be much welcomed and if they saw the garden on the way out to her treehouse, they wouldn't be out long at all.
A treehouse did sound absolutely fascinating though. It was those sorts of things that one couldn't have when smack dab in central London practically. Well, it was a little South and a little West, but still in the heart of it all.
That, and she had a garden and she had a house that was probably at least double the size of his own. He wasn't the type to get jealous, he loved where he lived, but he found her living conditions quite fascinating all the same. "Your house is really nice," he complimented her, figuring she probably knew that already but still, it was probably nice to hear.

Great! Scarlet thought, showing people her room was always her favourite part of her tour. "Okay, come on then," she said to Simon, taking the lead she headed back out into the hallway and started towards the wide wooden staircase leading up towards the upper level of the house.
Normally, hung at regular intervals on the wall going up the stairs were a variety of family photos, however looking at them now, Scarlet realised her parents had replaced many of them for new photos. She remembered then that because Simon wasn't aware of magic, it was all the moving photos that had been replaced, by still, normal muggle type photographs. These photos, Scarlet hadn't seen before, one of which being a picture of herself at a much younger age with seaweed covering her head, "I can't believe I did that, I hate seaweed now," she said, laughing a little.
When they reached the top of the stairs, Scarlet debated which room to show him first, whilst her father's study was downstairs, her mother had her own room to work upstairs, in the room closest to the staircase, wanting a better view from the window as she worked. Scarlet assumed she would've put away all her drawings and books about whatever magical creature she was occupying her work at the moment, so didn't think there would be much of interest to see in there. "My mum's study is in there," she said as they walked past that first door, "there's only boring work stuff in there though," she said, knowing that if she were actually able to show Simon her mother's work he would think it was anything but.
She showed him her parents room, the bathroom and the guest room, the pair of them taking a quick peak into each, everything appeared quite ordinary, no magic to be seen. The rooms all followed the same rustic décor, with the bedrooms having large dark wood bedframes, plush rugs covering large portions of the wood panel floors and exposed wooden beams on the ceiling contrasting the light walls.
Finally they had reached her bedroom, the furthest room on the upper hallway. Inside followed a similar colour scheme to the other rooms, her bed was designed to look like a small house, with wooden walls and a roof surrounding the mattress. Scarlet led Simon to her window seat, with views looking out to the surrounding wood, and gesturing for him to do the same, sat down amongst the array of cushions. "So, what have you been up to?" she asked him, taking the chance to catch up with what her friend had been up to since they last saw each other.

I've Got So Much to Tell You
Window ledge chats with @Scarlet Salvatore
Her house was amazing! The size alone was astounding and he smiled as he walked through each room, hearing in her voice how much his friend Scarlet seemed to appreciate where she lived. Each room was decorated nicely, but they all paled in comparison to her own bedroom which was any nine year old's dream room. "This room is great!" he said, taking a few steps around before joining her on the window seat. He placed a pillow behind him and leaned against the wall, glad that there were trees out in the backyard that was shielding some of the sun's rays through the windows.
"What have I been up to?" he asked, restating her question just so that he could think about it a moment. What HADN'T he been doing? He was nine and the world was his! Well, we've been having a lot of practice lately for children's choir at church because the Queen is going to be visiting. The Queen Mum, herself!" he thought that was pretty exciting.
"We've got to get dressed up all snazzy and it's going to be real fun. Other than that, remember how I wrote you about my girlfriend Amelia? Well, we broke up and then I was with this girl named Kaitlyn who was a great artist, but we broke up and now I'm dating Isabelle." Yes, all that and nine.
"Everything's been going pretty great. Good marks at school, Aunt Maggie's been wonderful. What about you?"

Scarlet smiled at his compliment of the room, "the bed was my idea," she said enthusiastically, "my mum said I wouldn't like it in a couple of years, but I can't see myself ever not loving it!" Scarlet had refused to accept that she would ever want to have a 'boring' bed like her parents, she didn't care that hers wasn't as big, there was only her that needed to sleep in it after all.
Not jumping to answer her question about what he had been up to, Scarlet first assumed that he might have had a relatively uneventful few months, then came all the details. Scarlet had always been fascinated by Simon's musical talent, she knew he sang and played an instrument, "it's the guitar you play as well isn't it?" vaguely remembering him showing the instrument at some point.
Scarlet was aware of The Queen, and she knew who she was, kind of, "so that will be cool then!?" she said, she guessed the appearance of the Queen was of importance by how excited Simon clearly was. "I'm sure you'll be the best one there!" she said confidently, aware of the talent her friend had when it came to things like this, a far deal more than her anyway.
"Well, it sounds like you've been busy!" Scarlet said with a little laugh, she remembered him mentioning Amelia in letters a little while back, she sounded nice, and she was sure that Kaitlyn would have been nice too, "seems like you're having trouble making up your mind," she said jokingly. "Is she nice though, Isabelle?" she asked, curious about the newest entry in her friend's love life, she had something of a blank page herself.
"Me?" she said, considering the question, a lot had certainly happened, but the amount of which she could tell him, "I don't think I've done nowhere near enough as you," she confessed. "Ooooh but I have to tell you about my aunts barbecue!" she exclaimed, remembering back to the family gathering a couple of months prior. "So, she put on a barbecue for her birthday and invited the whole family, including my grandparents, now you know my parents, specifically my mum, don't get on well with my mum's parents," she had been fairly open about her family with her friend in the past. "Well, believe it or not, they actually spoke quite a lot throughout the day, for them at least, I mean I didn't see them laugh much, in all honesty they were quite serious the whole time, but surely that's better than silence, don't you think?"
"Right," she began, not wanting to get down by thinking about family troubles again, "let me show you the treehouse," she said, looking out of the window towards the direction of the treehouse, which from where they were sat wasn't easily visible. She stood up from the window seat and moved towards the door, she would then lead him back downstairs and out the front door, into the gardens surrounding the house.

I've Got So Much to Tell You
Taking the tour outside with @Scarlet Salvatore
"Treehouse," he repeated her, shaking his head because who had a treehouse? He smiled though, excited to see it and he followed Scarlet as she began to make her way out of her bedroom. Maybe most people that lived out like she did had treehouses. It was a beautiful concept, he'd admit to that, but not something he or any of his friends in the heart of London had.
Living out there seemed to have a lot of benefits he thought. Her house was already twice the size of his own, if not bigger. The darkening night sky was already beginning to be sprinkled with some stars. He didn't see many stars in London due to the city lights, but it also meant he could go outside and explore no matter what time of night it was - which he did, more often then his aunt knew. Then again, what could you do when you only slept about every three nights. It wasn't like he could play some of his instruments and wake up his aunt or neighbor. Still, he was pretty sure his aunt didn't want him wandering the City only his own at nine years old.
"Your house is amazing," he said as he glanced over his shoulder to her and smiled. It was a compliment and while he did admire it greatly, there wasn't any jealousy. He loved his home as well. Scarlet had a nice place, a nice family. Little did he know about the horrible hardship that his friend had faced. He would want to be there for her best he could.
"I'll have to have you come to mine some time and maybe we can make a stop at the Ice Rink." He had been playing hockey for a couple years now. "Know how to ice skate?"

I've Got So Much to Tell You

Scarlet led her friend back down the stairs and out the back door of the house, into the garden. The sun had not long gone down, casting a gently evening glow in the sky, a select few stars already becoming visible. This was her favourite time of the day, one that only lasted for the maximum of an hour, when she was able to, Scarlet loved to watched the sunset from her treehouse, she would often bring Ashur along to keep her company, though had to carry him up the ladder which was sometimes difficult depending on his mood.
"Thanks!" she said, "you remember when we met, and played pirates for ages in that park, we moved not long after that, when I was six," she said, remembering all the details of the move. "There's stull I liked about the house before, there were always other kids about to play with, but I like the forest here, we didn't anything so close like this before." She considered Simon's question for a second, "no, I've never been ice skating so wouldn't know how," she replied, she thought it sounded cool, "we should definitely do that though!" Scarlet said excitedly.
By this time, Scarlet had come to a stop at the bottom of a large tree, it's wide trunk making the ground around it uneven from the growth of it's roots. If one were to look up towards the top of the tree, they would see, about seven metres above the ground, a collection of wooden planks arranged and fixed around the trunk to create a small room, and hanging from a square opening in it's floor, a rope ladder reaching the ground.
"The ladder's sturdier than it looks," she said reassuringly, "trust me, I've managed to carry the cat whilst climbing up," she added with a small laugh. She gestured for Simon to go on ahead, opting to hold the ladder still from the bottom as he made his way up, making it much easier to ascend. Once the ladder was clear, Scarlet would too make the climb, pulling herself into the wooden room once she reached the top.
Inside, there was a burgundy coloured rug that covered most of the floor, making it a bit more comfortable to sit, though it was a bit worn away in places. There were a couple of matching beanbags positioned randomly in the space, and along one wall of the room, a stack of five or so books next to a small wooden chest, which if opened would be seen to contain an assortment of toys and a blanket.
Taking a seat on one of the beanbags, Scarlet realised this would be the opportune time to tell Simon her news, but she couldn't, he'd think she was crazy, and her dad had reminded her before Simon had arrived that she couldn't tell him. Still, she knew she wanted to somehow get his opinion on the whole thing, even if she did so in a round-about way, "I started reading this really cool book recently, it was about a boy that transforms into a wolf every month, you know, like werewolves," she said randomly, "don't you think it would be so cool to be able to do that!" Like she promised her father, she hadn't said anything about her being a werewolf, but it was still important to hear her friend's opinion on the whole thing, even if it meant she had to get it like this.

I've Got So Much to Tell You
Werwolves like @Scarlet Salvatore are awesome
Simon went up the ladder and looked around the space. There was nothing around that someone their age wouldn't absolutely love. It was the perfect hang out spot for gathering one's thoughts, for working on a hobby, or just messing around with a toy model. Simon absolutely loved it and he loved that Scarlet had some place like that she could come to often.
He settled down in one of the bean bag chairs and smiled as he sank in. "I've always said I need one of these," he laughed. They were comfortable!
Just as he was running his hand across the carpet rug, she mentioned about a book she was reading that included werewolves and asked his opinion, on whether or not he thought something like that would be cool. "Cool?" he repeated her words and paused a moment before slowly shaking his head from side to side.
"No, it wouldn't be cool, it would be AMAZLINGLY AWESOME," he said and smiled widely. Better than cool. Simon thought about what limited knowledge he had of werewolves. "Although I bet it would be hard at times as well. I mean, there's got to be complications. One can't just transform like that so easily and then is it different when they're transformed? Do they still get to be themselves or do they totally change? It's probably exhausting too the days after. I'd be hard, most likely...but at times also amazingly awesome."
He had a pretty positive spin on it, and if anything, he'd see how it could be a struggle. No where did Simon exhibit any fear though.
[Perhaps instead of replying to this one, we can start these two off with a new thread and get them caught up to their time at Hogwarts?]
