Seemed that fate was against the Vipers on this day. Spells flew through the air, missing their targets- only four of them though. What- "Gray! Focus!", she shouted at her classmate who was... distracted apparently? Opeila knew how easy it was to get distracted watching what the others did, but they really couldn't afford it now.

The girl in front of her saw her spell coming and dodged, then told her that she missed. "Oh, you don't say!", the Slytherin gave back, frowning, telling herself the same she just told Percival. Focus.

This round certainly didn't go as well as she had been hoping. Starlee had been hit by the opposing queen, knocking her backward a space. Starlee's spell also managed to not hit her target, along with all three of her teammates casts. While she had managed to cast what looked like a perfect Flipendo, her aim was just totally off, and the boy easily missed. Of course. When it all came down to it, Starlee just couldn't aim, no matter how much help she could get.

She scowled as the tall foreign boy responded, certainly feeling as if her team had hit a bout of bad luck. But she wouldn't let this small setback let her down, no sirry. Fortify yourself and keep on going.

To sum things up nicely, this round sucked.

As Piper attempted to cast a Flipendo right at that boy's smug little face (a nice side for the curtsy, if you will), the boy nimbly dodged her spell. And her teammate's. And Starlee's. This didn't at all help his smugness, and he said something that was probably infuriatingly witty in a different language. How unfair. She had been off-balance after that curtsy.

Well, it couldn't have been that witty if he couldn't tell me in my own language, Piper comforted herself. And then he had the audacity to bow. Right back at her! Things were not going well. He had, at the very least, missed Starlee, so Piper called out something witty like "You missed again!"

Meanwhile, Percival just stood there in front of Piper, allowing himself to be consumed in flames by a member of the opposition. Opeila followed through with Piper's urge to scream at him. "What are you doing?" Piper found herself shouting along, avoiding his flaming robes. Maybe he had some genius strategy that involved him catching on fire. Only a couple rounds and 3 Vipers had been set aflame in the match. Whoopee. At least a Flipendo had missed him.

Piper had mixed feelings about the stellar Flipendo that hit Starlee full-on, knocking her back. On one hand, her rival had missed her target and then been hit, which was totally what she deserved. On the other hand, that rival happened to be on her team, and the fact she was hit meant Piper was now exposed. Good lord, they were going for the people protecting her.

As time went on, the other team was starting to look increasingly intimidating. What did they teach at those foreign schools? Whatever it was, hopefully it failed next round.

It seemed like luck had turned its back to the Viridian Vipers; Percival aimed his wand towards Greta, ready to hit her with his Flipendo, but something seemed off, and the spell never left his wand. Maybe the flames that were still wrapped around him were too distracting for him to concentrate. Opeila was also determined to hit Greta with her knockback jinx; however her aim was completely off, and instead of going towards the Durmstrang girl, the Flipendo flew towards Enzo, who easily avoided the jinx. The Viridian Vipers' Queen, Piper, tried her best not to get hit this round, focusing only on dodging any incoming spell; this proved to be a good tactic, because Enzo aimed his spell towards her, and if she wouldn't have been so concentrated she would have been hit by it. Hanako also had no luck in this round; his Flipendo flew towards Lovanna, but the girl quickly avoided it.

Lovanna decided to return the favour, and she cast her Flipendo towards Hanako, hitting him and dealing 135 HP of damage. Greta decided to go for Percival again, and another flame left her wand, and hit the boy once again, dealing more damage and prolonging his aflame status for one round more. While the spells were cast, Starlee decided to move on the same cell as Yefim; no matter her effort, the Durmstrang boy won that challenge, and moved in the B3 cell, allowing Roberta to move in C3, while Starlee remained in A3.

"Ehm... yes, I say?" Greta returned back to the brunette girl by her side (Opeila), a touch confused as to why the girl would suggest that Greta hadn't said what she said when clearly she had. Unless she meant something else by—

"Eep~!" Communication confusion aside, that girl wasn't waiting on pleasantries, and certainly had it in for Greta. Another spell was quickly slung the way of the Norwegian. She dropped into a crouch, the spell sailing harmlessly overhead. And quite wide, actually, now that she realized. A dodge likely wasn't even necessary. "You spelling to me? Or my friend, Enzo?"

An honest question, she was curious to know if that spell had been meant for her, or if it had been a clever ruse to make her think she was being attacked and actually going for a flanking attack on her teammate. Which was illegal, she frowned. A chant from ahead drew her attention, though. It seemed the boy had finally overcome his distraction with Greta's handiwork. Flames still licked at his clothing, singeing and consuming where it clung, but he seemed to be able to stay centred now, casting a spell with a focus on her. Two against one! Lips curled into an impishly satisfied smile at the notion that she was threat enough for that team to want to target down.

"New you are to spell?" Greta asked the boy (Percival), feeling a little badly that his spell had failed on him. She couldn't speak from first-hand experience, but the idea of being incapable of even casting at all in the midst of a duelling combat haunted her nightmares at times. "I show! Incendio Duo!"

Again, flames erupted from her wand towards the boy, an expertly cast spell with pristine aim. Small she might be, but loathe to anyone who underestimated her abilities or left her to attack unopposed. Delight at the success reflected in the firelight of her gaze, another smile pulling at her lips. Beside her, her teammates were advancing, getting themselves into a more ideal position. She, herself, needed to do the same. The best part of her little show hadn't even been demonstrated, yet...

Don't be mean. Don't be mean.
Opeila decided against a snarky comment when the girl didn't understand her sarcasm- obviously english wasn't her mother tongue. Maybe it was frustration that let her spell miss her opponent by far, rather going in the direction of another opponent. Well, had it hit at least, Opeila wouldn't have minded so much... She sent the girl- what was her name again?- a smile when she asked if she was aiming for her or her friend Enzo. That was one name at least. "No strategy sharing."

Gray raised a shaky hand towards his opponent and tried his best to flick his wand and mutter the spell, yet all that came out was a choked gasp. He didn't know why, but he couldn't bring himself to speak or calm down. Looking unsteady on his feet he continued to breathe heavily, his heart almost feeling like it was about to pump out of his chest. The fire didn't help by any means as it burned through the fabric of his sweater and scorching his skin below

In the corners of his eyes, tears began to well up, not from the pain, but from the way he felt. For once in his life, he felt afraid...

Gray was too busy again to see his opponent cast another incendio duo his way, spreading more fire across his chest and onto his left arm this time. Grunting loudly he still managed to keep upright, but only just. Expressionless, he glared at Greta who mocked his feeble attempt to hit her with a comment. He didn't react at first, but ever so slightly his mouth formed into an agonising smirk.

Even with a weight of emotion on his back he still tried to put on a brave face, and the fact that the odds were against him was even more commendable "Tarlaíonn... cac..." gasped the boy, his head lowering to the floor with a visible wince. All he could do was keep himself in one piece, that's all he could do for now.

Okay Miss Flipped did not need to bring out the mom card. Hanako had enough parent issues, and now he needed to be reminded of them during a duel? And the toilet thing? Was that a jab at his name resembling the toilet ghost or something? If so then that caused quite a number of ED on the boy. Emotional Damage. And added with the mom thing? Perhaps that was a good reason for his immediate loss of focus. He swore his aim was perfect but Miss Flipped found it easy enough to dodge. Upon knowing he screwed up, Hanako was about to ask if he could do a re-do on his spell. Alas, luck wasn’t on his side. Ouchies. Then again, he probably deserved it. He did hope that it’ll get less boring this round. Looks like he got exactly what he wanted.

Heh “ it was only 135hp damage but dang did it feel like 300. Nevertheless, he attempted his best to smile and laugh it off. “ Well played, Miss Flipped.” He complimented forcefully through gritted teeth. He’ll get the chance to be cocky again. For sure. And if not then... bah who was he kidding. He could be cocky anytime any day. Just not this moment as he still can't get over the toilet thing, mom card, and cold rejection properly. Too many emotional damage at one time.

It was now that she reached the central position of the board that her dominance would begin. From such a location none would be safe from her aggression. Yefim had done well to muscle his way in, creating a gap for her to take advantage of, and the sacrifices of her allies would not be forsaken. "Close in on them," she suggested with an air of confidence. "Give them no room to maneuver, press our advantage."
