A Little Fruity 2/2

On a cloudy Monday morning, the boys' bathroom was greeted with a familiar sight. Earl sitting criss cross atop one of the sinks, face inches away from the mirror as he dabbed a fine pink powder at the corner of his eyes. Makeup brushes with tips as small as his pinky or as big as his fist were scattered over the counter, eyeliner sticks and makeup palettes surrounding him. He was humming under his breath, bobbing his head to an unheard rhythm as he picked up a white eyeliner pencil and leaned closer, lips slightly parted.

He was going for a pink and white look, with gold as the accent color. Eyeshadow was slowly becoming his best friend, but it took an ungodly amount to apply. Which is why he was out of bed at five in the morning, the tip of his wand ablaze from behind his ear, assisting the pale witch light that shone from the bathroom walls. During his first year, he'd seldom used this bathroom, preferring to go for the abandoned one. But he figured as long as he woke up early enough to do this, he wouldn't be bothering anyone.

"I found it hard, was hard to find, oh well whatever, nevermind" the tiny boy murmured, picking up the liquid gold eyeliner. A couple more minutes and he'd be done. "Nevermind, nevermind, nevermind" the bathroom echoed back at him. A smile curled on his lips. It was a great day to be alive.

INTERACTION: @Earl Gray
The Gryffindor did not mind doing patrols in the morning, even if 5 am was early even for him; he had gone to sleep a bit earlier than usual, at around nine pm, much to the distaste of his dorm mate and good friend Scott. @Scott Alexander was probably someone who could sleep through a whole week and still wake up feeling tired, he was definitely not a morning person as Alan had found out pretty early at the start of their friendship. After all he always had to wake him up so that he would get ready in time for breakfast and classes and often one or the other pillow had been thrown at the prefect's head in retaliation for interrupting the other boy's 'beauty sleep'. The fifth year chuckled as he walked through the corridors, peeking his head into the accessible rooms to make sure that no student was present; though he could already see light flicker through the slit of the door to the boy's lavatory as he passed the corridor on the fourth floor.

It was rare to see students break the early curfew, it was far more often to see students stay up late rather than wake up early and the Gryffindor understood that it could be annoying to wait until curfew was over if you were an early riser, but he also understood the current dangers that lurked in the dark of the castle. He would rap his knuckles against the heavy wood before pushing the door to the lavatory open; as he entered he was greeted by an unfamiliar sight in the foyer of the washing room. A boy was sitting on top of a sink with his legs crossed while applying make up. The boy in question had bubblegum pink hair that should have stood out to the prefect, but he didn't recognize the boy in question. The kid seemed to at least not be out for trouble or doing anything weird, he was just getting ready for the day, Alan realized.

"Uh... hi, what's your name? You realize you are out during curfew, right?" he noted, a bit awkwardly as he slightly tilted his head, a friendly smile playing on his lips. Beside lecturing the other kid about the curfew rules there seemed to be no threat resonating from the Gryffindor boy. Alan didn't want to get the other kid into trouble, especially if it had been a honest mistake. "You seem quite talented with the make up thing," he added, to break the ice a little, an honest compliment.
Calming Presence
Your presence simply puts others at ease, if it is your carefree personality or the trust others have in you, the result is still the same. With you there, perhaps through your encouragement, your allies are able to better focus their spells and skills.

@Alan Vanes
Earl was completely absorbed in his work, having gone completely still. The next part would either make or break the entire look, and if his hand shook just a little, he'd have to start over. In moments like this, it was easy to see he was his father's son. Mr. Gray would have the same look of stubborn concentration as he worked on his clocks, the same way of haunching his shoulders and biting his lip, brows furrowed as he poked and prodded the delicate mechanisms. Where his father worked with slender silver tools, Earl worked with paint brushes. The clock maker shaped watches and carved designs into their covers, Earl carved beauty into his skin, altering the shape of his face, changing the color of his lips. They were two master artists at work, and interrupting them felt like a sin.

Alan however, had found no issue with doing just that. The makeup brush hadn't gotten a chance to touch Earl's skin, something our young boy might have thanked the gods for. Had the prefect spoken even a moment later, an hour's work would have vanished. Earl set the eyeliner down carefully and screwed the brush in before turning to Alan, a smile blossoming on his face.

"Hi!" he beamed, sliding down from the sink and doing perhaps the most graceful stretch in the history of stretches. Arching his arms over his head and pointing his toes, a shiver running through the tiny man's muscles. He hadn't moved in over an hour, and was grateful for the opportunity to do something else.

"I know it's a bit early" Understatement of the year. He'd woken up at four am. "It takes me a long time to do this whole thing so I didn't want people getting mad at me." He leaned in conspiratorially, as if he was about to divulge a very important secret indeed. "Some people are really grumpy early in the morning. I didn't want to ruin anyone's day right off the bat."

That, and the Abandoned Bathrooms had taken on a certain smell this year, and like fluff was he about to put up with it. Last year, he'd woken up at the same time as everyone else and gone there to do his makeup, so he wouldn't be taking up a sink for those in a rush.

Red bloomed in the younger boy's cheeks, a brilliant smile lighting up his eyes. Earl was almost inhumanely beautiful when he smiled like that. Entire tiny frame seeming aglow with joy, as if the boy's good mood was contagious and slowly painting his surroundings golden. "Thank you!" he delighted, hand flying towards his heart. "Oh my gosh that's so nice of you!"

"It's Alan, right? I've seen you at quidditch! I don't know h o w you can fly that high and not fear falling off!" Earl didn't quite understand the game enough to know if Alan was any good, so he'd gone with the thing that actually impressed him. The impossible looking height and speed which the players zoomed by at. He'd always grown a little dizzy just looking at them.

"You should have chosen the bathrooms in your dorm then, I can't really allow you to stay here at such an early time," the fifth year explained calmly, as he pushed a strand of hair out of his face sheepishly. He felt bad for telling him, because his reasoning had seemed genuine. But Alan had no idea as to why the kid had chosen to go this far to get to the boy's lavatory instead of choosing to go to the loo where his house was located. "It doesn't seem like doing make up would wake up anyone, right?" Then again the boy knew little about it, except for the fact that it made some people look stunning.

Alan was surprised to be known, it always surprised him a little when people knew him even though it should not be a surprise to him any longer. He had been part of Quidditch for a whole season, been a prefect and now had been a duelling co-captain for a good chunk of time; not only that but since Meenauh had left, he was promoted to the actual captain. "Yeah, that's me! May I ask for your name in return?" Maybe he had missed the question earlier, he seemed a bit airy, like a little fairy fluttering around, his movement seemed like dances which was only accompanied by the half finished make up look on the boy's face and the bubble gum coloured hair that fell in soft curls. "Quidditch is really not all that scary, it can be for sure but as a Chaser I wasn't really a prime target and was more of a background character; now with duelling coming up that will change and get me more exercise," he let the other kid know with a faint chuckle and a soft smile.
