Koko didn't quite want to head back to the common room so soon after classes. Being in the common room meant being close to her dormitory, which meant being close to her French books. She did not feel like studying, especially not so soon after classes.

She didn't even want to think about French. She'd hardly looked at any of her books since Christmas, and although she occasionally had to read French owls from her aunt, that was as far as her studies went.

Koko knew her grudge wasn't between her and France, but it was easier to pretend it was.

Instead of heading down the stairs, Koko meandered throughout the corridors, occasionally glancing at stray portraits or suit of armour. She wondered, for a moment, if people had ever used the armour. Sometimes she wished she had a small suit of armour, although usually she wished it were emotional armour, guarding her thoughts and feelings from the rest of the world.

Although, she thought as she surveyed a particularly shiny suit, she didn't think she would look too terrible in armour.

Koko glanced down at her robes and sighed. Her prefect badge shone proudly on her chest, and green embellishments marking her as a Slytherin wove their way around the collar. Vienna had sewn them in at Christmas, and every time Koko noticed them, she couldn't help but have mixed feelings swimming around in her chest.

Those feelings continued to lurk as Koko walked around, causing a small frown to form on her lips as her brow furrowed. At least she was in Scotland now, she thought, and she could try to keep all those feelings away from her head.

She kept that resolution as she inspected a sconce before leaning on a cold wall, finally wearing a smile. As long as she kept this up, she would be absolutely jubilant by summer.

She was certain of it.

She didn't know if it was just something the professors planned in secret or just a sheer stroke of luck. It seemed as the year drew on and they got closer and closer to the conclusion of another term, the assignments, the homework and whatever else seemed to be piled on so high she could probably make a tower tall enough to rival one of Hogwarts. You would think that this time of the year would be one for relaxation, to unwind and all that good stuff but no, it seemed the opposite was true as evidenced by the brown, stained bag slung on her shoulder which was filled to the brim with textbooks and whatnot on the verge of simply bursting open from the weight it had been carrying all year. It had been with her ever since she had stepped foot in these halls and been her best friend in making sure she didn;t lose any important notes or whatever, there was a senes of organization among the chaos but it made sense only to her.

Elena rounded a corner into the corridor that she knew so well, an common route that she took back after having to sit through a horde of classes and this one was considerably less populated than the throng of students in the corridors that she had just left behind. As she walked, the brunette noted the presence of another girl, the school robes classing her as a Slytherin, the brunette simply raising an eyebrow at that fact but saying nothing as Elena passed her but it was this very moment that everything seemed to not want to work. An horrible tearing sound filled her ears as the bottom of the bag she had carried for three years finally caved in perhaps fed up with being tossed around and abused the way it had and all the books and parchment within that she had stuffed came tumbling out right at the girl's feet and Elena took a few moments blinking to process what had happened before a string of profanities left her mouth.

"Can anything go right today?" She wondered out loud shrugging the now useless bag off to the side letting it drop to the floor as she knelt pulling some of the parchments towards her flicking through them to see if there was anything vital she needed to preserve. Most of them just consisted of neatly written cursive ink, a narration of the notes she had taken over the years, a few here and there were not even from this year, a fact that the brunette might not have even been aware of as she spied a worn copy of Magical Theory near the Slytherin's feet much closer than she was clearing her throat to get her attention nodding towards the textbook. "Do you mind..just..sliding that on over here?" The green and silver colors that the girl's robes advertised didn't exactly fill her with hope either, helpfulness was not a quality she had come to experience with such a house but the Gryffindor dressed in her own house robes was far too much concerned with her own predicament to bother with such sentiments. Now that she mentioned it, there was actually more than just the singular book that had deposited themselves just out of reach.

"And maybe some of those, I reckon." Elena admitted gesturing towards the mess of papers not believing her own words. They all had embarassing moments but this had to fall at the top of the list for her. If anything, it went to show that she was long overdue for a new bag, fat lot of good that thing had done her.

The corridor almost seemed to get stuffier the longer Koko lurked there. It could have been the weather outdoors that was warming up, but as footsteps tapped on the ground, Koko reckoned that it was whoever was coming her way.

She raised an eyebrow and thought about everything she'd left at her last class - her bag, her books, and for some reason, she was quite sure her cat was hiding in the previously mentioned bag.

He was a good cat that way. He sneaked into things.

Koko knew she'd have to go back for her things - even though she'd dropped them outside the door, they were still a tripping hazard - but for now she couldn't help but enjoy the lack of weight on her shoulders.

It was the end of the year, and the corridor was stuffy. Why not make it less stuffy by not carrying around half of her body weight in supplies?

Right as the newcomer - who didn't really look like a newcomer, seeming to be taller than Koko and all - came around the corner, Koko heard a terrible ripping noise. It was as if a material as thick as her robes had ripped, and for a moment, Koko made sure she hadn't torn a seam before she realised that the brunette girl in front of her was swearing up quite a storm.

Koko couldn't help but snicker, just a bit. She'd probably help the girl, but...

"I really don't think complaining will fix that lovely mess of yours."

Koko grinned, folding her hands in front of her. "It's really impressive, actually. If I'd managed to fit that much stuff into my bag, it would have broken ages ago." Koko chuckled. "Strange that it had to happen now, though... It's very unfortunate."

"Do you mind..just..sliding that on over here?"

Koko glanced at the girl and then down at her feet. A book was resting there, having nearly hit her. "Oh," said Koko. "Sure, I guess."

She pushed the book lazily back at the girl with her foot. Only then did she catch a glance of the scarlet on the inside of the girl's robes.

Koko didn't know many Gryffindors, and she was pretty sure that the few she did know would have known better than to have such an old bag.

"I'm assuming you'll want my help cleaning up the rest of your mess, yeah?" Koko raised an eyebrow.

She didn't necessarily want to not help the girl, but some of her belongings were quite a distance away, and Koko just wanted to lean against the wall in peace. She even understood where the girl was coming from, and as she tried to make up her mind on whether or not to help her, she couldn't help but think that she might have a bit of fun first.

No, complaining probably wouldn't make all of her troubles go away though how wonderful that would be if all of her issues in life could be resolved with a manner of few words. "Very unforunate." Elena agreed eyeing the girl who toed the book toward her with nothing other than the foot. Aside from that, the Slytherin seemed rather content with where she was as the brunette stooped down to pick up the book tucking it under her elbow. It wasn't exactly something that caused her too much concern but you would have thought that maybe she would displayed something a bit more..helpful in such a gesture. Elena knew she had been in the market for a new-fashioned way to carry all of her things, she's hauled along the bag since her entry into Hogwarts and it had served her well so she had saw no point in investing in anything else. After all, she had a philsophy of using things until their expiration date and it seemed the bag's had just arrived.

It was the other girl's turn to do some eyebrow-raising though it was her comment that caused Elena to shift her stance a bit uncomfortably. "Well.." The Gryffindor replied tiptoeing on her words carefully though it certainly took some effort because had it been anyone else, she was sure there would be a lot more helping and a lot less talking, leave it to a Slytherin to break that norm, she supposed she should have expected nothing less from the house of Salazar full of all sorts of nefarious troublemakers in her eyes though you could make an few exceptions for some. "It would be nice but of course, don't feel compelled to. I'm sure you have much more pressing matters to attend to after all like everyone else in the castle." She couldn't resist sneaking in that little jab in there, a tense smile on her face as she deposited her torn book bag and the textbook neatly leaning them against a wall neatly before eyeing the clutter of parchment and other various items that had escaped.

It was to be fair quite a lot. This was what tended to happen when you acculumated several month's worth of homework and class materials. Some of these thigns weren't even relevant anymore but had found a home in her bag as she took a couple of steps towards the mess. "Wouldn't hurt to do a good deed for someone these days." Elena muttered under her breath trying to be discreet as possible as she tugged some of the parchment towards her scanning their contents with curiosity. Had her handwriting really been that bad? Some of these documents weere bringing back memories as she began to gather them into a neat pile. The though of using magic to speed up the process didn't even cross her mind. She just hoped that the other girl wasn't just planning on sticking around and watching her and her predicament. That would certainly not leave a good rapport in Elena's books, not that her expectations had been anything different really, they were all the same and the majority of Slytherin house gave her little cause to think anything different. It simply wasn't in their blood in her opinion.
