Charles followed the group of three at a distance, not wanting to make it obvious that he was following them.

They chose the watermelon scented path. Charles could feel his gag reflexes setting in as he was now considering that perhaps he should have followed the other Dumstrang. Arjan Oberoi. Charles never personally liked him but at least he knew what he was doing, it appeared better then the group he followed. Plus there was the added bonus of missing with him and slightly agitating his fellow Dumstrang.

Charles held his hands in his jacket pockets, as he walked a few feet behind the group. A left then a sharp right into a narrow corridor, Charles held his hands in his jacket pockets and felt the leaves brush against him. The Dumstrang was already thinking this wasn't fun or comfortable.

The fog grew thick and Charles swatted at it uselessly with his right hand before slipping into back into his jacket pocket. The group reached a fork, left or right. That would end up being the question.

Charles wasn't one for picking up on keen clues, he missed the growling as his eyes flicker between the group.

There was the boy with the cat who the group decided to follow. Since he choose the watermelon smelling path, Charles decided to refer to him as melon boy.

There was the raven haired girl who followed him and held the bucket from the southern entrance. Odd but then again weren't all Hogwarts students odd to Charles. Bucket girl will be what Charles refers to her as.

The second girl didn't say anything interesting or do anything notable so naturally Charles ignored her.

The second boy. A sandy blonde haired kid enter in before the group and seeing as he didn't follow anyone was already higher in the Dumstrang books then the rest, if he looked back then he would notice a light smile on Charles's face. Leader would be what Charles refers to him as well.

Finally there was the cat that in Charles's eyes was a beast. Charles wasn't a fan of cats or any animal on general, the blonde looked over the feline then turned away waiting for the group to move.

Waiting

Waiting

Waiting

Since they hadn't moved for a while and Charles was finding it tiring waiting, the blonde decided to take a step back and announce his presence as he duly spoke"let's not wait for the grass to grow, now," looking between the three notable people there as he held his hands in his jacket pockets.

"Hey," Charles offered the short greeting with a head nod toward the sandy haired boy before turning toward the raven haired girl and other boy.

" continued your game of follow melon boy so the rest of us can leave this narrow and uncomfortable corridor," Charles spoke duly as his eyes flicker toward the cat then back at the two Hogwarts students, remembering that he to followed the group.

"And don't joyful that I followed you, it wasn't because I thought you two were intelligent or confident," Charles spoke looking at the two as he casually added" I know the intelligence and inter working of Hogwarts students, I have cousins who attend this school and their idiots," Charles didn't care how he talked about family or that he should have started off nicely. He just wanted to leave and if he had to use certain words then he would.

" keep that beast away from me," Charles spoke referring to the feline as he waited to move. Waiting. Again.

Charles rolled his eyes slightly as he looked over at the two, " are you stuck? Melon boy and bucket girl maybe try a different game this time and follow him," Charles referred to preferred sandy haired boy as he awaited for them to choose a side and move.

“I agree, watermelon it is then.” Santario smiled brightly when Evelynn joined the group. “I would be delighted to have you join us. Surely with us three and bucket here, we are bound to make it through Monsieur Céspedes’s maze mostly intact.” She laughed softly as she followed behind Alan into the maze with Evelynn. Paying no mind to anyone else who had gone before or after them.

Santario walked without saying terribly much as the path changed to the left and another sudden sharp twist to the right before being forced into a single file, assuming Alan, Santario, Evelynn as that is how they entered the maze together. Finally, they would come to a fork in the road, an option to their left or right. "The fog is getting thicker; we can always try to Ventus it away at some point. But for now, Lumos" Santario hoped that lighting up the tip of her wand would make it easier for them to see as they progressed.

Of course, they could always go backward and leave. It would seem the vines did not cover up their way out that they knew of. San, with her bucket in one hand and wand in the other, looked at Alan and Evelynn with a nod. “Right? I am curious.” She spoke quietly to them, the maze giving off the same feeling that a library did. Keep your voices hushed, or trouble may find you.

It would take them seconds to decide which way they would want to go and not an amount of time that equated to grass growing since that would be naughtily godmoding, three staff members, without their consent. Once agreed upon, Santario would start making her way down the chosen path, presumably with the two of her adventuring friends with her unable to hear any remarks or complaints by those who lingered behind them.

Arjan looked over his shoulder as things suddenly got a little darker, following a rumbling sound behind him. It was not really something that bothered him. Of course, he would have definitely preferred to have been trapped inside the maze with a cute girl... but this would do. At the very least, no one would bother him and he could just complete the maze and show off how incredible he was by doing it alone! Right?

Well, time to find out. Making his way through the maze with an air of confidence, he shoved his hands into his pockets unfazed by the darkness. Arjan probably should have taken out his wand or attempted to cast something to help him but he did not really care too much about it. What was the dark really going to do?

Without hesitation, Arjan continued to walk straight. He looked down the left path as he made his way right past it without much thought. He did not stop or even consider it. He just... walked on, as though it did not really matter. What really mattered for him was just to go headfirst into the maze, right? That was all that truly mattered right? Tackle any obstacles straight on, after all!

Following the melon smell seemed to have been the correct choice, at least for now; the Gryffindor hoped as he marched forward with confidence. As the path bent to left he would still go foward with his group. As they marched on Santario would eventually comment on the fog and truly there was a bit of mist that would limit their far vision. Not that Alan really cared as it was somewhat exciting. It kinda fit into the mood of a spooky maze; though he was sure that @Jake Morris would be crying and hiding in someone's personal space if he were to experience this. The path would narrow down, forcing them to walk in a line rather than a group, though the boy hoped that all of them would stick together so that no one would get lost within the maze.

Another boy would eventually approach them [Awareness d20:19] but Alan had been hearing the steps for a while now and the occasional rustle of leaves as he had walked through the maze, he just hadn't paid attention to it. The boy hadn't approached him until later and possibly had been waiting on something, not that the prefect cared much for it and he also didn't know why the kid had all of a sudden felt the need to approach them and run his mouth with rude comments. Eventually, after having tried to stalk them for quite a while now, possibly thinking of himself as being sneaky, the boy would start to talk and it was with a voice the Gryffindor couldn't recognize. A light twist of his head would confirm his suspicion as he was met with a stranger's face; odd. Not odd because he didn't like meeting new people, but odd because he had walked up with such misplaced confident in himself and a tone of ordering them around on a school ground that must be unfamiliar to him. He was alone and dared to pick a fight with a bunch of not only older, but also multiple people? Alan wasn't sure what to think of such a reckless decision as he felt that could have gone bad very quick with the wrong group of people. The icing on the cake would have been to command him to keep Tiger away from him, not that he would trust Tiger to spend time in close proximity of such a rude boy in the first place, "Last time I checked you had approached us, Tiger had never any intention to get close to you and I am sorry, but if you don't like him you can keep your distance; feel free to walk with us but if you do, do us the favor and be nice we are here to have fun and don't want it ruined by a someone trying to start a fight for no reason," the Gryffindor muttered before flashing the boy an encouraging smile. Alan wasn't sure what the other boy's deal was, though he wouldn't engage in his bickering. "So if you cannot do that please at least don't ruin our fun, thank you," he said before he would turn his attention toward Santario and Evelynn, "So let's go!" he would say, also in answer to Santario as he shifted his weight to carry Tiger on one arm instead so that with the other he could carefully reach for Santario's arm that was carrying the bucket and gently drag her along by the wrist as he sped up his steps toward the rightmost part of the forked path (so not the one she is using to cast).

Evelynn's arrival was met with warmer welcome than she might have expected; enough to draw a faint smile to her lips. "My thanks," she replied. Although directed specifically in response Vanes' comment, she addressed both of her fellow prefects. "And I should certainly hope so~..." she added more directly towards Martin. "If there's anything I've come to appreciate, it's discretion, caution, and the value of a group in a situation such as this."

Her traipse into the dungeons with a score of Slytherin earlier in the year was a memory that would not soon be forgotten. Not by Evelynn, and certainly not by her raven-haired counterpart who'd taken an unfortunate tumble down a well. There was no need to bring that up, though. Not directly. Surely there were enough reminders already.

In pleasant company, Evelynn carried on down the path with her peers, wand in hand and a passively interested gaze sweeping across the hedges and space ahead in search of anything that might stand out as unusual. Behind, they were soon joined by a number of other students. As they chose to follow at a distance instead of joining the trio, Evelynn paid them little mind, content to leave them be to their own devices. At least until one of them started verbally acting up. Filtered words were filed away, monitoring for escalation but little else.

They meandered forward, the path winding side to side and narrowing. Habit had overcome Evelynn. Right hand out to the side, fingertips brushed lightly against the shrubbery, occasionally plucking and brushing their leaves between fleshy pads before being released with a spring to snap back into place. It was how she navigated mazes. Keep one hand on a wall, and you could—technically—never get lost. Assuming the walls didn't change.

It wasn't long before the reached a choice to be made. Left. Or right. Well. Perhaps it was only a choice to be made for some. For Evelynn, the answer seemed obvious. Nevermind that going left would mean having to lift her hand from the hedge, it was also the less interesting of the two. From the moment she'd sensed it, the rumbling had captured her attention, a curious gaze casting down towards the right curving path.

"As am I," she agreed, glancing to Martin with the shadow of a smirk. "Right it is."

Aware that walking in the dark was not always safe, young Santario cast Lumos before taking that step towards the right. Now whatever happened could be pinned on her! Turning right, Alan and Evelynn would follow with Charles still proudly waddling behind. There seemed to be a bit of tension but there was strength in numbers. The group would not have to walk too far. The path weaved around a corner and the group would step into a small dead-end chamber. At first, there was nothing. Even the sound of the rustling seemed to halt. But within an instant, the empty chamber erupted with life.

Long roots and vines from the enchanted hedges shot out towards each of the gathered students, like the tentacles of a Kraken looking to drag them to unknown depths. The binding roots were fast, launching through the air with ease to fill the small chamber as the tendrils inched closer to the students. Making it look almost casual, Alan would be able to slap away one root before quickly dashing out of the chamber to safety. Evelynn was less graceful in her escape but was able to quickly scuttle out of the chamber before the roots could grab hold.

Santario and Charles were not quite so lucky. With the group crammed into the small chamber, they had nowhere to run. In an instant roots spiraled up Santario's legs and pulled her to the ground before slowly starting to drag her towards the hedge wall. Charles had vines and roots completely wrap his torso and waist. They would slowly begin pulling him closer to the back hedge wall, the strength of the pull nearly pulling the boy off his feet. Will they work to free themselves or let the maze devour them?

Available Directions:
Alan and Evelynn can Travel Back the Way They Came or Go into the dead-end chamber.

Charles and Santario are snared by the maze and being slowly dragged towards the wall.

Middle Route

Arjan Oberoi (@Serena Towers)

It seemed that the temporary solitude was of no concern to the determined Arjan. He would make his decisions with confidence and glory! Enough to make the maze swoon. Perhaps it was that confidence that made the maze want Arjan so dearly. As soon as the boy began walking forward. A familiar rumbling began, but perhaps more fiercely than before.

As Arjan would continue forward down the path, the maze started to pursue. Just as it had with the entrance, the walls behind Arjan began to close. Slowly at first. Viles and roots pulled the massive walls together, blocking and route back. But the speed began to pick up. Faster and faster the maze would start closing. Almost violently as the walls riped into each other behind Arjan, gaining on him and threatening to consume him if he did not keep moving. But as Arjan continue to move down the dark corridor, it would wind its way into a fork. He had to decide fast as the walls behind him continued to pull closed. The paths looked similar. One to the right, the other two to the left but hesitation would be costly.

How to Navigate the Maze

1. Each round you can choose an available direction to travel or to take a different action.
2. Each moderation will list the available directions for each student.
3. You can choose to stay as a group or wander off on your own. But if you are alone...beware of the orange.
4. Depending on the paths chosen, you may encounter challenges or changes within the maze.
5. Stats will be used in this tread and thus you will need to ensure they are in your trunk.
6. There will be a moderation post at least once a week. Quicker moderations will be done if all active participants have replied.
7. If a participant misses two weeks of moderation, it will be assumed they decided to take a nap and will be removed from the maze for their safety!
8. As always...clothing will be required in this thread!

The three Hogwarts students and cat that seemed to bother Charles a lot choose to go right, odd choice but the blonde decided to follow. It seemed easier than having to decide and go through the maze himself, following someone and having them do all the work was more the Dumstrang style. Was he lazy? A bit yes.

Charles held his hands in pockets and tilted his head back from boredom as he complained" ever heard of speed? You mates can use some," the blonde kicked at the ground beneath his feet as he walked into another aisle of hedges. Looking ahead before going back to kicking at the ground and he wished that he brought his broom with him, the Dumstrang never excelled in actives involving intelligence or kindness but he wasn't a bad flier.

Charles leaned into one of the side hedges as he complained loudly"now where to maze solving duo," Charles wasn't ignoring the third girl on purpose. He just didn't think she was important yet if she didn't do anything memorial to the blonde.

That was when he felt vines grab hold of his torso and waist taken back as he looked up the hedge was pulling him in.

Really? Living hedges? What else was Hogwarts hiding?

Charles was now more unhappy then before especially since the feline and two of the three weren't being pulled into the hedge as well.

Charles pulled at the vines as he complained" the lack of intelligence of Hogwarts students is quite remarkable," the blonde gritted his teeth as he pulled at the vines squeezing his waist but still managed to complain" the biggest mistake was following you two and that beast here, could this get anymore miserable, " the blonde pulled at the vines in a desperate attempt to free himself but still somehow and rather remarkably had enough air to still complain.

"If this maze doesn't handle you then I will with a beaters bat," Charles irrationality shouted at the trio as he desperately claws at the vines wrapping around his torso and waist. Desperate to get free and probably regretting his words to the Hogwarts students but he wouldn't admit it. He how would you put it, not prideful but not intelligent enough to apology. After all smarts wasn't the area that Charles flourished in, he rather sunk in that area.

Santario was taken by the wrist by Alan as the three continued to walk along the path before inevitably hitting a dead end. “Well, this was not it. It is also a bit too quiet.” It set Santario on edge as she turned to walk back the way they had come, but the girl would not get that far as the room erupted into life. “Run!” It would seem Alan and Evelynn would manage to get out, which was great. Santario, however, felt vines wrapping around her legs, and she tightened her grip on her wand as she fell to the ground with an oof.

Thankfully she was quick on her feet, something every duellist needed to be so that they could come up with a strategy and read their partner's mid-duel. As the vines started to drag her toward the hedges. Santario aimed her wand at the vines that wrapped around her ankles “Diffindo!” Hopefully, the severing charm would be true, and she would be able to scramble back to her feet and out of the dead end. She would do her best to keep the bucket in hand, but if she had to, she would drop it to escape.

“Hi, I am Vivian” a smile stretched on her face when she came to know that she wasn’t the only person who took this entrance and stopped until the girl could join her. The girl looked unfamiliar to Viv, the blonde have not seen her before and assumed that the brunette must be from a different school, which school are you from?” with a little tilt of the head as she started walking. The fogginess blocked her view and made it unable for her to see when she starred into the distance. Looking around, she could see that she was surrounded by fog, her heart raced.

Should she just run away from here? The starting point itself so scary to her, “No! It’s just fog! I shouldn’t get scared at these things!” the voice came louder than she intended it to be. Being embarrassed by her own action, she grinned nervously as she walked but very slowly, only looking at her shoes. She could not run away! She promised herself that she wouldn’t run away from anything anymore. Whatever it is, she’s going to face it. Maybe she should have taken the path where others chose. But no, she wanted to make her own decision and she felt what she chose is right.

Now she has to make another decision when a new path diverged from the path she stood. Glancing in both directions, her body twitched and she folded her hands into a fist so tight when she heard the violin music from the path ahead of her. Quick! Make a decision, she screwed her eyes shut for a few seconds to regain her composure, hoping that would help her take a correct decision. “I’ll just walk straight” as she opened her eyes slowly. Violin music was surprisingly frightening for her but she still wanted to take that path as the other path looked suspicious.

Continuing their meandering among the shrubberies, Evelynn fixed her attention to the rumbling, taking effort to drown out the ample white noise that sought to distract them. Turning a corner, they faced a dead end. Fingertips still trailing the walls absently, the lioness stepped forward with cautious steps, gaze spanning the space in search of both trouble or clues that might suggest this wasn't actually the dead end it appeared to be. Curiously, the moment they stepped into it, the rumbling seemed to stop. She hardly had a moment to ponder the significance, however, before vines shot forward. Evelynn hopped one, swivelled to avoid the grip of another, and rushed back to the safety of the chamber's mouth. Only Vanes appeared beside her.

"Martin..?" Evelynn called, whipping around in search of their companion only to find that the duelling captain hadn't been quite so fortunate. Wincing as the raven haired girl went down, Evelynn snapped her wand forward towards the ensnaring vines.

"Immobulus!" she urged, hoping the living vegetation could be halted in its efforts to drag the prefect away long enough that she could extricate herself. And if luck was with the obnoxious foreign boy, perhaps the vines were part of a whole which could be frozen in its entirety, offering him the same opportunity to free himself. Although.. By the looks of it, his was a state even worse than Martin. With luck, he'd be able escape, but she didn't count on it. "Vanes, I think he's going to need our help!"
