Chess Combat (Match 1)

First round, lots of movement to be expected. A few spells were thrown as well. His hit the boy, not causing any damage but his nose was now super runny. I guess that was good practice to know his luck was good? On the other hand, one unlucky Viper got hit with her own spell and he would have chuckled if he hadn't felt the pain before but oooh boy spells when they back fired hurt. One of their teammates, a smaller boy got hit as well and he sent a small sympathetic glance his way. I mean, he was the one to sign up for this game after all. You expected to get hurt, whether it was being set on fire or being Flippendo'ed across the board. Milo then quickly shook his head at the thought before calculating the board, his eyes narrowed. A few pieces clicked together, the other team was being quite aggressive. He shifted his stance and nodded to his teammates, readying himself for anything. Alright, from what he could tell it wasn't too bad so far. They were about even, but the first round was just the beginning. It was time for round two and this was where the actual fun began.Playing as iNPC Milosh Rehnquist

INTERACTIONS: Guest Team
It was a bit frustrating if anything that he was being limited to movement alone and the urge to put his wand to good use pressed upon him every passing minute, Still, their well-timed moves and plans were being executed perfectly so he bided his time with patience but as any sensible person knew, the possibility of any plan going off without a hitch was rare and in this instance, Jan got to experience that firsthand which probably only added to his desire to respond back with a few choice spells of his own whenever the boy got the chance. The gust of wind slammed into courtesty of one of the other girls on the other team causing him to stagger backwards nearly teetering backwards from the force of it all letting out a grunt as he recovered. They were clearly playing extremely aggresive as he narrowed his gaze on the girl taking note of her, someone to be wary of clearly.
Sticking to the plan of action, Jan shifted away from the line of fire into a spot safely away from the girl where she could get to him to lick his wounds and hopefully prepare for a comeback. He had not been expecting such a rough start as his fingers trailed the exterior of his wand eyes scanning the other Vipers. Usually, he wasn't one to retreat but he knew better than to make rash choices especially in a game of stragety like this as he judged his options. If all of their spells would hit as hard as that one, the boy had no doubt some of them would be flat-out gone in the next couple of rounds so they would have to tread carefully. He didn't like playing defensive but if it had to be done, he would do it as long as it yielded a postive result in the end. They might have had the upper hand for now but all they needed was for one of them to overstep or make a mistake and they would have the perfect opputurnity.
It was a simple philsophy really that Jan had adopted. Let them think they had the high ground, let them feel safe and then strike. The only troublesome part here though was that this wasn't dueling where you could throw spells here and there. You were bound by the rules of chess and at the moment, he was limited to hopping around until he could find a space to offer some sort of resistance. He didn't mind losing but being wiped off the board without being able to fire back a single spell, that was just plain old embarassing on his regard especially when up against another school. They would have to do something and do it quick. For now, however, the boy would stay quiet refusing to let the brutality of a single spell waver him his grip tightenting around his wand as he prepared to execute his next move that would hopefully grant him some sort of advantage, mistakes could be costly here.

Alexander silently cursed as he saw how his own spell had gone wide from the opposing queen. Easily flying off into the distance, away from the current battlefield. Then he froze as he saw an old and hated enemy appear in the corner of his eyesight. A sickly green bolt of energy coming towards him.
He tried to dodge, but due to being frozen in shock, he could not make it. The bolt hit Alexander and immediately he could feel immense amounts of mucus gather in his nose. It was not there in massive quantities yet, but he knew it would increase and making breathing far harder.
Alexander frowned as he thought he saw a wink from his duelling partner, and took one second to give Ileen a silent glare. Which was not great in intensity, as it was not completely serious. Yet his pride was still hurt. Regardless, it was time to make to jump to action once more.

Alisa knew how this game worked, and when she saw the Slytherin queen – or was it king in this case? She remembered dimly that the two words could have different connotations and weren't exactly the female and male equivalent of each other, but in the end that didn't really matter, did it? – raise his wand to cast at their queen. Protect the Queen.RPing as iNPC Alisa Sokolova.
While one of her own teammates started shouting at the opposing them in a what was either terribly bad manners or calculated stragety, Alisa was already stepping up and in front of her Durmstrang schoolmate Rehnquist, ready to take a spell should it come to it. If the choice was between taking hits for the team or losing, taking hits it was.
Not that she didn't plan on totally handing out some nasty jinxes of her own. This was why she'd come to Hogwarts after all.

Despite being constrained to a single square, every target of offensive spells managed to dodge efficiently. Illowy fired off a Flipendo towards Karilyna, Bridget sent a gust of Ventus hurtling towards Karilyna, and Karilyna retaliated with a Flipendo intended for Bridget. Spells flew, but their reflexes were faster, and all three evaded harm. Rodion also attempted to cast a spell: Incendo Duo, aimed at Illeen, but there was one problem: he would be learning the spell after summer camp. Whatever independent studying he might have done did not play out. Instead, a weak curl of smoke trailed out of his wand before dissipating harmlessly. Those who moved to separate spaces- Santario, Ileen, Alexander, and Jan- were free to do so. Milosh performed a successful Reparifors on Jan, healing his teammate. Pericles paced the opposite end of the field from Dealla, eyes flitting from player to player while on the lookout for stray spells. It was still far too early to guesstimate a victor, though Slytherin was sure to fight furiously to uphold their record.

Ileen caught Alexander’s silent glare and somewhat it calmed her. It gave her the feeling that it was not that bad and she rather should focus on her own stuff. But in this round there was obviously nothing to worry about. Although her own team went in full attack again as did the other, nothing happened. All the spells missed their target and she didn’t even notice she had been in the crosshair herself.
Looking around for any spells flying her way, she tumbled to the next spot - and again she made it there without any attacks or accidents.
Frowning, she looked at the foren students in front of her. Now that she was standing in the frontline, in a somewhat exposed spot, she was even more careful and attentive. The game had just begun. She knew first hand how easily it could escalate after only a short breath and she would not make the mistake and underestimate their opponents.
However, she would not let herself be intimidated either. After all, they had worked hard to get here and she was quite capable of causing the older students some problems.
She resolutely grabbed her wand and couldn't help but glance over her shoulder. She was so used to making brief eye contact with Alexander during duels that it was a reflex. Ready when you are. She felt strong with this team behind her and she would not let them down.

Between her step in front of Alexander and the other movement around the board, she had a viable target. After a last look at her surroundings to make sure she wasn't missing anything crucial, she decided to go for it. Why not? This was a duel, casting was the expectation. They would never gain the upper hand without landing some solid hits. Besides, having seen Karilyna in action before, she was someone Bridget wanted out.
She took aim and Karilyna did the same, though probably for different reasons--she had placed herself directly in front of the Queen, after all. This bit, the one-on-one, was familiar, much more akin to a typical duel even if she had to remind herself to keep the opposing Queen in mind since he could hit her here, too. There was limited space to move around within the square. Still enough to work with as she ducked under Karilyna's Knockback Jinx, straightened, and incanted "Ventus." She missed the opposing Bishop, as did Illowy, but it was fine. A glance around proved her team was no worse for wear and that no second spell was coming her way; the other Queen had opted to heal a Rook. Interesting choice so early on. Taking note of any new positions, she did her best quick analysis of the board and readied herself for what came next.

Santario smiled wickedly at Rodion as she moved, her gust of wind dissipating in her glide to another square. “Clearly, your wand doesn’t agree with your prior statement, and I think I agree with your wand.” Dumb boys who thought they were god’s gift because they thought they had some form of looks. Faces could change, and words were cheap; neither impressed her. Something most people seemed to fail to notice as of late.
Alexander slid behind her, and she offered him a backward glance of reassurance that she had his front covered, standing side by side with Bridget. A position she was most familiar and comfortable with. They had taken on their opponents with cool determination all year, and now that they stood side by side, Santario felt invincible.

This round was.. rather uneventful in both a good and bad way. Lots of moving was done, for both teams. From his point of view, Slytherin had the upper hand in movement. He was in a bad spot and he knew that. Taking a deep breath her surveyed the area. Jan had to hit hard and alas he decided to attempt to get him back on his feet for extra safety precaution. The spell landed and hit him square in the chest, which usually was a bad thing but in this case it was alright.
Their team's health was higher but perhaps their strategy was.. not as good. Was it time to go in defense mode or be very aggressive? Only time would tell. He got his wand at the ready, nodding to his teammates again. Let's hope for the best, this round would be nasty and spells would fly that's for sure.
