Chess Combat (Match 3)

"Aww, come on Lovanna." she thought to herself disappointedly. Right what was she meant to do next. It was always a shame that Lovanna missed with a lot of her spells so she decided to try and get it back at missing that spell. So she did it again;
"Flipendo!" she pointed her wand at the target and the spell short from her wand. Lovanna was usually quite competitive and this was making her even more competitive being hit by a spell changed her fear to confidence.

@Evelynn Decipio as Greta Fransson
Focus. Focus.
The Slytherin saw the girl the opponent in front of her lift her wand and got ready to evade. Focus and- Yeah, spin right into the spell. Immediately Opeila's sleeve caught fire, causing the girl to curse quietly. Doesn't matter. Tiny fire. Quickly she ran to a neighboring cell to avoid more attacks. Her arm was stinging, and hissing in pain she shook her arm to stop the fire.

The Slytherin teamed seemed to really struggle in this round of duelling. Percival seemed to be stuck at a stand still, maybe from pressure? Or maybe to make it easier for Greta to hit him with Incendio Duo, setting him brightly aflame for the moment. That's gotta hurt. Meanwhile, Opeila tried to fire a spell back at Greta but the young girl easily dodged. Willow remembered her from Quidditch and couldn't help but shudder at the girl's unending skills in every sport she participated in. All three of the remaining Slytherins (Piper, Starlee, and Hanako) attempted to cast at Enzo, but all of their spells missed him. Impressive~
The other team had more luck as Roberta was able to hit Starlee with the Knockback Jinx, movie her back a space, but luckily not enough to knock her all the way down. Or, sadly in Roberta's case. But that seems to be where the luck ended as Yefim and Enzo missed their own spells. Lovanna took the easy route and scooched on up to C5. Hopefully next round they would all have more luck in their spells landing on their opponents.

Moving forwards a space, Percival still kept his cam aura while keeping an eye on the opposing team before him. He had already thought of his next move and was getting ready to perfect it at any moment. Although, something unexpected happened. Within an instant, his mind went blank and a hand went up to his tight chest, breathless and confused as to what was happening to him.
Deep down, something had triggered inside of him. What it was seemed to be a mystery to him, but that wasn't his worries right now. He needed to snap out of this weak state and focus on the situation at hand, but it seemed no use. With his guard lowered, all he could be silently gasp for air while leaning over, unknowing of what Greta had planned for him. Gray took a few deep breaths and finally managed to calm himself down, only to look up and see a wave of fire hitting him directly on his body.
Engulfed in flames, Percival felt the searing heat of the fire on his clothes, burning and stinging the skin that didn't stand a chance underneath. All the prefect could do was stand there and grit his teeth, trying to prevent a yell of pain from escaping his lips while at the same time trying to think of a move in his foggy mind

Enzo could feel his temper bubbling up after his little interaction with the serpent queen. The only thing that kept him at bay was that he knew she will soon fall. He'd make sure of it.
He was now even more motivated to shove a win in the snakes' faces, though had to put a pause on the idea of glory as more spells began to fly back and forth.
With his wand pointing directly for the blondie who had annoyingly decided to body block the queen from him, he quickly sent a spell her way for it only to whizz right by her. Okay was his wand rigged or something? How on earth did he miss his target yet again? This game was seriously damaging his ego more than anything else.
Without being able to complain about it more, out of the corner of his eye Enzo saw a spell flying right at him. Then another. And another. He proceeded to gracefully tread around each one, letting them pass by without leaving so much as a scuff mark. Honestly that was pretty pathetic on their part. Three against one, and not one of them could hit him? How pitiful.
And just as a finishing touch, a cherry on the cake if you might, to add to his lovely performance of a few moments ago, Enzo brought both of his arms behind his back and took a nice long bow, specifically making a point to glare back at the queen, just as she had so smugly done to him and then spoke up but in french, purposely banking on the fact they wouldn't be able to understand him.

Lovanna was very nervous even though she had gotten through a lot of this.
Move to C5. Lovanna whispered. Lovanna's character as she called it moved to C5.
Everyone else had sort of been bickering so Lovanna had managed to slip her character to C5 hopefully without anyone knowing, but there was a chance someone had realised.

Holy snuggle bears. That was kinda hot. Sure, Hanako was one of the three that attacked the same guy.Enzo But seeing him evade with ease left Hanako with mixed emotions. Disappointed, and charmed. Who wouldn’t be swooned for a second there?
Though he called them worms, Hanako let him know how hot that was by whistling at him in a flirty manner. If his teammates were to give him an odd look, he would shrug carelessly. It was easy to cheer for the opposing team when none of them had hurt him yet. He knew it was only a matter of time. When was his turn to be incedio duo-ed?
Hanako was almost excited that someone familiar was in his sights. “ Eyyyy it’s you~” Hanako called out to the wizard that moved to be a block in front of him. (c5 Lovanna). He didn’t know her name but she was the one he flippendo-ed earlier if his memory served him right. Which brings him immense joy to remember.“Came here for revenge, sweetie~? Or did you want a blow kiss as well? Just say the magic words and it’s yours~” he couldn’t help but tease. He’d been standing way too far from the other opponents team to interact with them like this. In short, he's been lonely for quite some time.

Interacting with: Our team, Yefim, and mentioning Greta and Hana.
Roleplaying as Roberta Martin

"Yefim, duck." As she stepped forward into place a flippendo would fly out from her wand as practiced. She had willed it. There wasn't time to celebrate, as this was but one small victory in grand scheme of war. As the opposing duellists fired upon them, Roberta kept her head high and her eyes on her opponents first and her allies second. She was not interested in cowering in fear unlike the opposing team who ,by now, had every reason to be. Despite the terror both Yefim and Enzo wrought upon her enemies, Greta's bravery was just as motivating as Roberta's own ambitions were. Still, she had to make sure she stayed on target and didn't get distracted trying to be too witty. Banter was hard but at least magic and duelling came naturally.
It wasn't until Hana flirted with Enzo that the worst within her would be brought out. If looks could kill, then this lovely creature clearly had deadly intent. "That serial flirt," she whispered under her breath to nobody in particular. At least Hana was safe for another few years still, as she had yet to master the spell which would allow her to literally stare daggers. It seemed whichever Professor was responsible for her current inconvenience had Hana's best interests at heart. Biting the inside of her cheek, Roberta turned back to her own lane to mind her own business. Wrath was just as powerful a source of magic as confidence could be but curses practically thrived on angst. Even just the idea of making him puke slugs was soothing.

Just as his victim murmered out a few words of reply, Yefim got the signal from his Queen. His massive girth pivoted, revealing Roberta's fearsome beauty behind a wand that was already pointed forward. Blondie stood no chance, luck or not. These kinds of tactics were common in Durmstrang dueling: distraction, intimidation, and feints. They had a reputation for being straight-forward and aggressive, which clearly they still were, but anyone who thought they'd not use every advantage possible would be in for a rude awakening.
”Not looking lucky to me.” He grinned, flashing his teeth like a predator who found his prey cornered. Dinner would taste sweeter after the thrill of the hunt.
Yefim wanted to do the same, fling an opponent back to a less optimal position, but even when the guy he was trying to hit looked distracted and got caught on fire by Greta, he still managed to miss. Yefim clicked his tongue, it must not have been meant to be. Surely the burning dark soul inside him had a greater purpose in mind, otherwise his aim would have been true.
”You lucky.” Yefim added, looking back to his team and waggling his eyebrows.
A cloud of doom was settling over the board, certainly the worms were feeling the pressure by now. Imminent defeat, hopelessness. Ahh, it felt great.

They tried. From the fire girl's position a flash of light erupted. Greta saw it just in time from the corner of her eye. A duck and shift of her weight was enough to see it fly wide of the intended mark and Greta had to resist the urge to look over her shoulder to make sure none of her teammates had taken the wayward attack. It wouldn't do to take her eyes off the opposing team even for an instant lest they take advantage of her lapse in attention. "You miss!" she grinned, pointing out the obvious.
Ahead, she locked gaze with the tall boy with an expression that suggested he was perpetually bored. For an second, she thought perhaps he might have been about to sling a spell at her. "Incendio duo!" She was the faster. A deft movement of her wand saw a burst of flame erupt from its tip to race towards him, engulfing him in her spell. His pain was evident. She bit her lower lip as guilt trickled in to plague her resolve. Too much, perhaps? Hopefully there woudl be no lasting marks...
"Sorry..." The word murmured from her lips regardless. "I—... ehm..." Agh.. What was wrong with her? There was no time and no room to feel sorry for them. They were the enemy! The ones to be defeated! Imagine Niche's reaction if he knew what she was thinking. The heel of her hand tapped against her forehead as though trying to dislodge the obnoxious thoughts and when she lowered it, her expression was all determination and focus. Like a toddler determined that they could tie their shoes all by themselves thank you very much. "No luck!" She said defiantly to Yefim. "Only work!"
