RPing as iNPC Maksim Aleksandrovich Preobrazhensky.
Dialogue in italics is Russian.
Like with many duels, everyone sprang into action right away. Instinctively and protectively (as always), Max stepped forward in front of Irina, but not before the Vipers' Queen fired off a spell towards his teammate. Fortunately, Irina seemed prepared for that, and twisted out of the way of the attack. Amaury, seeming to think along the same lines as Maksim, had stepped forward in front of the other rook on the far end of the board, and Max shot him an uneasy glance. What now?

Unfortunately, Henrietta did not manage to escape unscathed as Irina had. She was hit with a vicious attack, and Maksim narrowed his eyes at the boy who had fired off the spell. "Madame Montagne!" he called, attempting to catch her eye. "Be careful, silly goose!" he chided half-heartedly. "There are people out to kill us. Blood brothers does not mean bloody brothers."

And with that terribly confusing piece of advice, Max focused his attention back on the five Slytherins in front of them. Two had moved up, while he was now standing directly in front of their queen. He couldn't help but gulp out of nervousness, but cleared his mind of any doubts that may have been casting their shadows on his actions. He was Maksim Preobrazhensky, and he was going to hex the crap out of these Hogwartsians.

Dmitri laughed mockingly as he watched the other team's Queen narrowly dodge his attack to hide behind her teammate. "That's it. Run, hide, dodge!" You won't be able to do it forever.

As the first few spells flew towards their targets—all but one missing—the Slytherin Captain surveyed the arena and found that their opponents' actions were not far off from what they've expected. Very good. A change in plans is not necessary, it appeared.

He said just as much to his teammates, adding an obligatory, "Make sure you keep that up, Thorn" as his way of congratulating the only one of the Vipers to hit the enemy team, conveniently relegating to the back of his mind that he himself missed.

The foreigners didn't seem to be showing any signs of being uniquely... different from previous opponents the boy has faced before. The only new thing about all of this was their number, but then again, that was just mere logistics seeing as he had a team of 5 of his own.

Readying his wand once more, Dmitri Jones braced himself for the next bout.

The moment they were given the chance to begin hurling spells at one another and making their moves, Adonis had made sure to do just that by fling a Tickling Charm straight for the person in front of him. A bit of pride swelled up inside of him as he watched his spell hit its intended mark. A grin tugged at the corners of his mouth because of such and it only made him more determined to want to put the lights out for their opposing team. They had to win for Hogwarts and for their other teams as well. No way in hell was Adonis fine with being the only losing team for them if the other two were to win. That would be embarrassing. The young Slytherin would lay his eyes on the opposing team once again, scanning the five of them with his eyes for a brief moment. Soon after, he would assume his stance once again and prepare himself for their next course of action.

Though the first round proved somewhat anticlimactic, with most duellists moving to new spaces or managing to narrowly evade flying spells, Sarah could still feel the buzz of adrenaline coursing through her body. Her eyes flew around, carefully calculating as they moved from person to person, trying to see where the weaknesses lay – where the cracks in their opposition would inevitably start to show. The wand in her hand, a vital extension of her own being, spun between deft fingers, her magic thrumming just below her skin.

Her eyes landed on Dmitri, his spell narrowly missing the opposing queen. Next time, she thought. Their opponents were perfectly adequate, but nothing special – nothing to be worried about. She knew what to do, and she had faith that her teammates did too. She trusted her team to do the right thing, throw the right spell or perfectly evade one incoming. She felt her lips curl, the slight smirk settling on her lips as she readied herself for the next round.

Alan had been looking forward to this day, this challenge of not watching four, but a total of ten duelists at the same time as they battled for who was the better team. If he was being honest, all those extra chess rules had confused him a lot during the planning of the event and it had been thanks to a lot of explaining from @Santario Martin that he had finally wrapped his head around the concept of this duel and now that he understood how it worked, he felt that it was such an easy concept. He truly wished both of the teams good luck, though felt as if his heart was on Slytherin's side as they represented their own school after all.

Ana had been fairly new and this would be her first duel to moderate, which Alan found fantastic, though he was glad that they were co-moderating; he was so overwhelmed with the first duel he moderated that he felt another set of eyes would be great to watch out for the rules. The first round had more or less been successful, mostly repositioning and moving around but only one spell had hit. But as it moved on towards the second round of the duel, the fourth year couldn't help but wonder if everyone's nerves were going crazy as it seemed a lot was going wrong. Both Sarah and Astrea would miss with their spells as the whereas the Rictusempra barely got close to its target and the gush of wind would go right past the target.

Though the opposite team did not seem to fair much better as Maksim would conjur up a shield, expecting to become a target, though none seemed to pay attention to him, so while he was successful, it had been a somewhat wasted action and a risky one at that, as spells were known to easily ricochet. Both Irina and Henrietta would miss with their spells; another Ventus and an Incendio, Alan despised the latter spell in combat as he knew of the harm it could do. Felix seemed to be the luckiest with his offense as he would catch Astrea with his spell at the hem of her robe, setting it aflame and probably causing some decent amount of pain. The prefect had to wince slightly, as he watched Amaury bubble up the field A2 with a decent amount of soapy bubbles that would reflect the summer sun; making it hard to see when being too close. Then students began to move, decent choices as the Gryffindor found, though he couldn't wrap his head around Adonis who would walk straight into the field of forming bubbles as he was surrounded by the floating spheres and while he was able to look out just fine, anything that was aimed toward him would be difficult to see as the approaching spells light would now split before his eyes, making it hard to see where he had to actually evade to.

She had decided to cast Ventus at the other team’s queen. Irina peaked out from behind her teammate Maksim and the cast the spell. It missed by mere centimeters and to make matters worse, the guy then moved places on the board. He was no longer in a spot that she could hit and that frustrated her. Taking a breath to calm herself, she gripped her wand a little tighter and prepared for her next move. If she cast a spell this time, there was no way it would miss.

If Dmitri wasn't exactly certain of where they stood on this duel immediately from the start (there were simply too many factors that had to be considered), he was quickly comforted by the way the other team played exactly into their hands. Initiating the second phase of their strategy, the boy had to nimbly dodge a spell last minute as he almost stepped right into its trajectory. Looking over at who dared cast at him, he couldn't help but laugh mockingly. "I'd say I expected creativity from any of you, but that would be a lie." He remarked as the gust of wind dissipated from where he once stood.

The other team's Queen would then be subject to one of Dmitri's signature looks: the head-to-foot, judging gaze. "And I could go out on a limb say I was greatly worried you would go and hit me, but again, not a really big fan of untruths.

"Oh and nice block by the way. Really showed us, huh?" The boy would say flippantly to the kid who tried to protect his "queen" from... an inexistent attack.

With his tirade for this round well and done, Dmitri readied his stance once more with no worries for his teammates. This duel was about him, anyways.

The duel raged on around Amaury as he aimed his spell. It wasn't exactly a useful spell, in Amaury's opinion, but ideally it would give the foreign team a bit of an advantage in the future. In his concentration on his own spell, however, he managed to dodge a spell from the pesky Slytherin directly across the board from him. She seemed to be out for blood-- although Amaury didn't blame her. That was the idea of the game, after all. Bloody chaos.

RPing as Henrietta Montagne of Ilvermorny
Seconds had come and gone, brilliant streams of colored light flying in both directions as billows of movement rippled through the floor, whether it was a cleverly timed evasion, a wand tearing through the tense atmosphere to fortify the hostility, or merely a step in some proper direction to protect a team member. It was no place for kindness, this wretched floor of butterflies and hurricanes. Ret was having cursed luck; her spell had missed, firing directly into her ego as that uncanny twitch in her right eye returned, accompanied by the pain that made her wince having lingered from before.

When the enticement of fire caught the young duelist's gaze, it wasn't one by her own creation, but brought a dark smile to her lips. A gorgeous girl on the opposing team was positively radiant with the wraithlike beauty of death and flames that were cleaving at the seams of her robe. The attack came from the outstretched arm of Felix, and the demonly inferno glinted in his platinum hair just enough to intoxicate the girl with ambition, and blind her only for a stolen heartbeat. Maksim had conjured a shield around himself, and while it didn't come to use as the various beams soared past and around the tall boy, Ret couldn't help but be impressed. There was no doubt she'd be complimenting him the next time their eyes locked.

Eventually, the electric sting would dull into a mild ache in the nape of her neck, the physical form of the vexation and vehemence that ran wild in a missed spell, though this was nurtured until it grew into further motivation. Ret straightened her posture and looked menacingly into each pair of eyes in the Viper's entourage; she—they—would not go down without a fight.

The game was starting to act up a little, with a few people of the opposing team firing towards Slytherin. Violet herself did not cast any spells, just simply going up to C3. She would look at her other team members, looking as some of them cast spells towards the team. She was excited to see how the game would end.
