In the corridors with @Emily R. Brewer

No matter where one wanted to go within Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry, they always seemed to begin in one destination - and that was that of the corridors. The stone pathways, surrounded by stone walls, allowed the students to travel from Point A to Point B with some obstacles along the way.

These obstacles included suits of armor, disgruntled paintings, and lots and lots of fellow students. It seemed to grow easier towards the end of his First Year, as Simon knew now where to go in any given situation and what was the best straight shot. He even knew a few secret passageways now within the castle!

But now with school having just begun a new term, Simon was in the corridors with a new batch of First Years, all trying to figure out how to navigate their lives at Hogwarts - but literally and theoretically. He had patience for them, after all it wasn't all that long since he was the same.

Not all were as tolerate though. A short boy made a quick turn, changing his mind last minute about going through another corridor when he smacked right into two older Gryffindors. "Watch it," Simon heard one of the older ones say as he pushed back. What was WITH all the pushing in this place? Simon stepped up to interject and one of the boys looked over to him before tapping his friend and motioning for them to get. Maybe it was due to Simon's size, which was much taller and stronger appearing than many of his age.

"You alright?" he asked the boy who nodded and gave him a small smile. Simon placed his hand on his shoulder. "It's gets easier," he told him and then turned, almost himself now running into a girl. He stopped quickly, having pretty good reflexes, and thats when he noticed she looked familiar. "...Emily Brewer? Is that you?" One of the girls from his school back in London who was in the year under him? It couldn't be!

Emily walked into the corridor, she held a few books in her arm which she had taken from the library to read in the Courtyard. A lot of students were crawling through the corridor, searching for their classes, or walking around with their friends, heading to the common room. Emily was only a first-year and it was one of her first days at Hogwarts. She passes some teachers and greeted them by just nodding her head.

She looked around in the corridor at all the people passing by. She was a bit fascinated. She thought it was beautiful, the portraits, the guards, and of course the ghosts. She was fascinated by them. She thought they were wonderful and had something very special. For sure she would be used to them in a few weeks. But still, she thought they were very interesting.

With her thoughts by every ghost, she passed, she had never noticed that she almost bumped into someone. Someone quite familiar. She dropped her books. She was surprised by who she had seen. She didn't quite remember if she ever knew the boy but she knew where she had seen him before. The boy was a year older than her, they were together in Muggle school back in London. It took her a while of thinking and staring before she remembered the name again.

"S-Simon, isn't it right? Simon Kincaid? She said, a bit stuttering. She never thought she would meet someone here at Hogwarts who she knew from London out of her brother. "You're here too, and you're a Hufflepuff. Cool!" She said and smiled a bit. She knew he had left the school to go to another school, but more than that she never knew. "Uhm, How?" She asked, and then bented down to grab the books who where still laying on the floor after she dropped them.
Talking with @Emily R. Brewer
He didn't remember hearing her name from the Sorting Ceremony but then again, with the last name of Brewster and the ceremony being conducted in alphabetical order, she would have been one of the first ones called and he most likely was still talking with one of his friends, catching up after a summer apart.

It was curious to him how she knew he was Hufflepuff. But then he glanced down and saw her Ravenclaw tie and remembered that duh, they were wearing their school robes. It was an entire Summer without them and how quickly he had forgotten. Still, kudos to her for getting the name right. It made him wonder if she was from magic.

"It's great to see you!" he began. It was. It was crazy to think some he knew outside of Hogwarts would be AT Hogwarts now with him. He would then explain how much he knew about how he got there. "I never knew about any of this up until a year ago," he admitted. "Not until I got my letter. I guess my mum went here when she was in secondary school. She was in Gryffindor," he said, not really finding that to be better or worse than his own house. Each house had special attributes and in his mind, none were superior to the other.

"Anyway, I got my letter and I swear I thought it was some sort of hoax. And then I get here and was expected to think that all of this was real - magic, spells, potions, werewolves, dragons..."
But it was real. That was the most amazing part.

"What about you? Have you always known about....all this? The magical world?"

Emily got back up, with a good grip on her books and smiles. She was glad to see Simon again, it had been over a year ago when she last saw him. She smiled at him pressing her books against her chest. "Im glad to see you too? How have you been, it has been ages ago since I last saw you!" She said and laughed.

She stepped aside when a student rushed through the corridor, clearly in a rush. She turned her head again to face Simon. She listened to what he had to say and looked around for a bit. She had no idea what to say. She had known she had the chance to go to Hogwarts since she was a little girl. Out of everything he said it was clear that he was too a half-blood.

Well, I knew, I lived in the Wizarding world until I was 4, then my mom and dad decided to move away to London. I have known my entire life that I was or would be a witch. My parents are both wizards but my mom is a Halfblood and my dad is a Pureblood so, makes me a Halfblood as well. She said and smiles. Oh you were in such a rush, where were you heading to? She asks the boy friendly.

Offering help to @Emily R. Brewer

"I've been doing..." he paused. How had he been doing? Well, everything about the whole magical world was pretty great, with the exception of a few details that affected him. He wasn't ready to begin to go into all of that though so he smiled. "I've been doing pretty good." That wasn't a lie. There was much more good that outweighed the bad.

"Wow, how do you keep it a secret so long?"
he asked, wondering how that worked. He didn't know about it until he had gotten his letter and then his aunt, who wasn't of magic herself, told him about how her sister (his mum) had gotten her letter at the same age. "I don't know that I would be able to. Must be hard too, to try and distance yourself from it, at least enough so that others don't know about it." But those like Emily and the Brewers must have done well with it because Simon had not caught on. Sometimes he wondered if there was anyone else he knew that were of magic and he just didn't realize it.

"I was headed to the Rehearsal Room. It's the only place in Hogwarts that has a piano. I haven't strummed along piano keys since July. I just finished the month of Hogwarts' Summer Camp before this. A large group of us, and lots of students from some of the other schools, attended a month-long of events here on the grounds of the school."

He didn't know it existed before this year, although apparently he could have joined the previous Summer. "What about you? Headed anywhere specific? Need any assistance?"

Emily listens to him carefully. Im glad you are doing great! If been good too. Not too much work at the moment. I hear my parents often and see my brother passing by so that is great. She says. She was glad he was going well. It must have been overwhelming and hard for him, to change worlds. For her it wasn't that hard since she had lived here before, she remembered quite a lot of it so for her it wasn't too bad.

Well Yes, I didn't have a choice really. No one is allowed to mention to a muggle that you're a witch, it is dangerous. ONly to family or loved ones. And still, they could not accept and leak it, and my dad works for the Ministry so if i lip something it could cause him his job. And for me my chance here at Hogwarts so. There isn't really a how it's just you do it. She says and smiles.

Oh, i just came back from the library so i don't really know yet, just heading to a place to read my books. You can come too if you want to? There isn't really a place i think i really need to be. So

Ready to explore the castle for a reading spot with @Emily R. Brewer

"My mum, she came here," he took a moment to glance around where he was. The corridors. This particular one was one of the more heavily trafficked ones which means most likely his mother traveled through them, many years ago, every single day. He liked knowing that she had been there and now he got to be there - it somehow made him feel connected with her.

"She was a Gryffindor. She was the only one in the family though. Even her little sister, my Aunt Maggie, she isn't of magic. My mum never wanted to make my aunt feel bad or left out so she didn't talk about it much. Not at all, really."

So his Aunt Maggie didn't know details to ever tell him, nor did she think she needed to. She didn't realize that lots of times, magic did run in families. She didn't expect that come the age of eleven, her nephew that she would be in charge of, would get a letter from the very same school that her sister had.

"I've read up some on the Ministry. It's all very fascinating." Part of him at one point thought about trying to get a job at the Ministry once done with Hogwarts. There was some interesting aspects of politics and government. But no, he wanted to go a different path, he just wasn't sure what that was just yet.

"There's some great reading spots in the library itself,"
he let her know, "but it does get crowded at the start of the school year. Everyone's checking it out, you know? It'll get less congested and is one of my favorite places. But yeah, let's go find a dedicated Reading Spot of one, Emily Brewer."

He would let her lead the way through the corridors and he would follow.

Emily listened carefully to what Simon told her. She found it quite interesting how the life of other students looked like. She thought her's was pretty normal. She had a brother and a sister, a mom and a dad who were there for her. But nothing bad happened in her family really. Out of the fact that almost no one of her family wanted to be called a "Brewer" because of her father marrying a muggle-born. She therefore never knew any family from her father's side. She never got to meet them which she thought was sad, but there was nothing to be done.

Because of all the thoughts floating through her mind, she forgot that she was still standing in the corridor with Simon. "Oh I'm sorry, yea sure, the library sounds cool! I only walk in there grab some books and get back, I never really looked around or something, I'm mostly too busy daydreaming." She says half laughing. She follows Simon to the library. Still thinking about her family that she never got to meet. she thought it was ridiculous, that such a small detail, could mean the world to her. Just because of the blood that was floating through her mother's vains.

Back towards the Library with @Emily R. Brewer

"It's better than any of the libraries in London," he said, and didn't mean that as an insult to them at all. Simon loved the libraries back in his home city but there was something more exquisite about Hogwarts' school library. It had the architecture, it had the perfect lighting, and it had books that were more fascinating than one could imagine.

Still, knowing now that his former school friend Emily Brewer was now of magic and knew magic her entire life, she wondered if it just wouldn't be the same for her. Maybe she wouldn't find it as amazing as he had because she already knew of dragons and unicorns, of trolls and giants, of potions and spells, and of werewolves and vampires.

But he glanced back down at the Ravenclaw school robes and assured himself that yes, she probably still would be awe-inspired by the space just as he had. "I'll show you my favorite study spot, so long as you don't find someone you fancy and bring them there for a snogging session."

He looked over direction to her and tilted his head slightly, delivering a stern look as if warning her never to do that. Simon then smiled though, showing he was only kidding. "After all, it's not only my favorite study spot but it's also one of my favorite places for that too." And sharing in that aspect would just be weird.

Emily listened carefully to what Simon had to say. "There are some cool Libraries in London tho. I went to almost every library I think. But in the middle of London, there is this huge, beautiful library. The moment I saw it, I was soled really haha. I used to spend all my time there, studying or just reading. And they have some amazing old books as well!" She said and smiled.

She was very excited to see the library. She looked around and noticed that the crowd of people had been gone. They must have been chatting for over a few minutes now, since or everyone was in class, or they had left for their dorms. She was pretty excited about her first year, and she couldn't wait to see the spot he told her about. She laughed but was also shocked by his comment to not snog at the spot. She knew he was only messing with her, so she decided to just laugh it off. "And who would I be snogging with then?" She asked him, just to joke around. She was only a first-year and she had never really met anyone before, how would she be snogging with anyone really. They laughed and walked out of the Corridors, to the library.
