There was no denying today was absolutely beautiful. The autumn chill was slowly coming upon the Scottish hills, but still only enough to cut the heat as the sun started setting. Much like today. Everything about such mild weather encouraged time to be spent outside, laughing, being with friends, enjoying the outdoors before winter would set in and make it nearly unbearable to stay outside for too long without properly bundling up."C'mon, Magpie! Don't be a baby!" Kyle goated, perched effortlessly on the oversized broom of his father and looking down at her and Duke. In her hand, she held her aunt's, Kyle's mother, broom, looking up warily. They really weren't suppose to be playing with the brooms, especially not without the adults watching after them. However Duke certainly couldn't fly it, he was a squib, and Kyle wanted to play Quidditch with Duke as their ref. Granted, it wasn't real Quidditch, but as close as 7 year olds were going to get.
Like many times before, and as it would be seen many times after, Kyle would talk her into breaking the rules in the name of 'fun' or 'adventure' as the child copied everything she'd seen adult do to fly. However, she wasn't the natural that Ky always seemed to be. As she lifted off the ground, her cousin talked her through the motions. Somehow coaching turned into Kyle horsing around, trying to bump her and coax her to go faster as they flew around the yard near the woods.
"Kyky stop it!" she whined as he bumped her again, not that the over-zealous lad took much notice, chasing her about. It didn't take long for Illowy to loose what little control she had, which had resulted in crashing into a tree and falling to the hard ground. She'd gotten hurt, the adults found out about their sneaky shenanigan's, and it was all around not fun for anyone; but ever since the girl had been terrified of falling, not to mention flying. A matter she wouldn't have to worry about until her school years at Hogwarts...
With classes finished for the week, and no place she felt the need to be, Illowy had made her way out to the training grounds, her cousin's broom in hand. It well worn from his endless practicing, tallies diligently carved into the side of the side end of the handle. Her uncle had passed it onto her before she left, saying he hoped she'd at least get some use of it until her cousin was found, promising to let her know if anything came up. Though as of now there seemed to be nothing new to report.
Flying was truly her worst class, it had been since the first day; and yet, nearly every day since coming back to Hogwarts she'd been out after class, forcing herself harder then ever to remedy that. It was like having one more way to feel closer to him, participating in something she knew he loved. Just as well, honing the skill would make it easier to search for him; after all one could cover much more ground in the air then on foot. If she got good at it, she might be more useful in finding him.
The snake sat in the grass, knees bent and leaning forward on them, resting her cheek against her arms that were top them, the broom leaned into her shoulder as she allowed herself to get lost in her thoughts. Everything now felt dramatically different, even herself... and perhaps anyway who knew her well enough might've seen a change in her as well. She was quieter, colder, angrier mostly keeping her distance if she could help it. The world was moving forward so fast, and yet there she was, still trapped and left behind in the memories of every bad thing she was still trying to fix... no one else seemed to care about those things anymore, and that was something she couldn't understand. How was it so easy for people to accept defeat? How could they go on, pretending like everything was perfectly fine when to her it felt like the world was imploding and burying her beneath the rubble, pinned and helpless to fix it.
I was told I was dangerous. When I asked why, they said, "Because you don't need anyone." That's when I smiled.

@Illowy MagnardIt was a nice autumn evening, one that Violet thought would be perfect to go and practice some Flying. Though it wasn't her favorite class, Violet had to admit, the feeling that she was in the air, literally flying was great. Besides, she always had to be ready for the next flying class. Because she had not done well in her first quidditch ''match'', or whatever it had been, Violet also thought that practicing flying once or twice a week was the best way to improve herself in the sport, especially considering that she did not take losing lightly.
Her confrontation with McCowan was also a good reason for her to want to outstand herself more, being told that she hadn't done well in this or that, even if it was joking or as a matter of fact was not a good thing to do, especially when Violet's temper could rise so easily at any given moment. The thought that she had been told that she could have done better was stuck in her mind permanently until she would be able to show Nicholas a lesson.
Violet did not have a broom yet, since she thought it was unnecessary to buy one since she was not a quidditch master yet. Taking a school broom, Violet walked into the field in which the flying classes were held, and she was about to kick the ground when she saw a brunette sitting on the grass, in some sort of position that Violet would describe as though she was in deep thought. Maybe even in her own world.
Violet was not in the mood to see a creepy girl crouched on the grass while she was flying, so her cold nature told her that it was best to speak up and tell her to leave. However, the efforts that Violet was putting in to actually make some friends would go down to waste, so it would clearly b better to do the opposite. Trying her best to stay calm and collected, Violet marched over to the brunette.
''Uh, hello'' Violet started, standing in front of the girl on the floor. ''Are you okay?''

Illowy was pulled from her thoughts as someone stepped themselves in front of her. Truly, one could find no peace or quiet anywhere for long could they? It was both a blessing and a curse, that was how Illowy saw it. When she'd first come to Hogwarts, all she wanted was proper quiet and alone time; yet by the end of the year when she'd returned home for the summer, she'd become so accustomed to the background noise, to always having someone near, that it only left her feeling lonely at home where she had no friends and her mother was away most of the time at work. However, that feeling wasn't applied right this moment.
Ghostly pale eyes looked up at the girl. While they'd never formally been introduced, she at the very least recognized the girl from her own house, though that was about as far as her knowledge went. Illowy looked the underclassman up and down a moment, gauging the girl and what her intentions might've been. From what she'd seen in passing, the girl never struck her as a particularly social type.
Shifting a bit in the grass to lean back on one hand, and a short sigh through her nose, the older snake responded, "If I'm breathin', then I'm fine." her tone was void of emotion, her stare steady. At this point in her life, Illowy felt her patience was shorter then ever, and now often depended on the vapid impulse of human nature; there meaning, because she often looked unapproachable, her near sickly pale skin and icy blue eyes so highly contrasting against her dark hair and the marbling of black veins on her skin, they'd judge the book by it's cover and leave her be. That's how she preferred it. Safer on all fronts.
Evidently, this girl didn't seem to follow such impulses. Which was quiet the annoyance. Illowy's eyes flickered to the school broom in the girl's hand; that certainly tracked they'd come out for similar reasons, "If yer lookin' for a flying tutor, I'm not it. Best give the bulletin a look. Off ye go."
I was told I was dangerous. When I asked why, they said, "Because you don't need anyone." That's when I smiled.

@Illowy MagnardViolet would have very much wanted the girl's reaction to be more kind and friendly, however, since she seemed like someone that was not really social, Violet saw her reaction as the complete opposite. Glaring at the girl who had just told her that she was fine, she said, '' Well, I'm glad that you are fine, or whatever breathing that is.'' Violet rolled her eyes. '' I meant to ask you if you were okay, like emotionally. Because to be honest, you look a bit blank that is.'' Violet grasped her broom more firmly, trying not to lose her temper.
A tutor? Violet rolled her eyes at the girl once more. '' I can tutor myself, thank you very much.'' then, Violet remembered Lavinia, the girl that had tutored her to play Quidditch in her first year. One thing that Violet knew was, that with that little knowledge she had she could perfect and polish her abilities a bit more. And that was exactly what she was going to do, but one thing she knew was that she did not need a senior girl to teach her. '' I was just here to help you out. I'm not leaving until you tell me what's wrong. Don't tell me to leave. she thought.

The other seemed to be losing her temper a little, her tone shifting after Illowy gave an apparently dissatisfying answer. A small smirk tugged at her lips a little, finding the scene almost humorous, "Am I okay... emotionally?" she echoed. Now there was a loaded question if she'd ever heard one. Illowy couldn't recall the last time she was 'emotionally okay'. Too much had happened over her years at Hogwarts to just feel okay. Her family was in ruin, and she was barely bidding time with the rest of the cursed in her house, still struggling to find a cure it seemed everyone else had given up on. How could anyone be expected to be okay under all of that. However it seemed impractical to unload all of that onto some twelve year old she didn't exactly know. Such problems and fears were beyond what someone Illowy's age ought to be dealing with, much less a second year... even if she was even younger when this trouble all started.
The show seemed to go on as Violet rolled her eyes, grumbling about how she didn't need a tutor and was more then capable of teaching herself before insisting once more that Illowy tell her what was wrong, assuring that she wasn't going to leave until the older girl gave in to such demands. The older snake raised a brow, never seeing someone so committed to dragging the truth out of someone they didn't exactly know. It was almost endearing, the determination the girl seemed to have. Though why it would matter so much to her was beyond Illowy.
Illowy smoothed a hand back over her hair before getting to her feet. Shifting the broom to lean against her shoulder, the older casually shrugged as she pushed the sleeve of her jacket up over her elbows, "Nothing you need to worry yourself over, Poppet. Trust me." she insisted, maintaining the emotionless, calm tone before shifting the broom back into her hand. After all, there wasn't a point in dumping on a kid about her own problems, even if she wanted to. What was happening with her cousin didn't concern anyone who didn't know him, and as far as the curse went... well, what did someone unaffected, someone not even present when it happened, care about what happened to the rest of them? "If you're going to tutor yourself," still such a funny quip in her good opinion, "You best get on with it before the sun goes down."
I was told I was dangerous. When I asked why, they said, "Because you don't need anyone." That's when I smiled.
