Regrettable Circumstances
Not a Great Sunday, what was supposed to be a nice, normal Sunday. The sort of day where everyone spends a lazy afternoon window shopping in Hogsmeade. This was Koldovstoretz's first year traveling to Scotland, an attempt to unify the varied wizarding schools to create ties with foreign magical entities. To strengthen their bonds and to improve the academia that would prove to be the groundwork for the next generation of wizard.
More than that, it was a statement of unity. The children were aware of the rumors of dissent in the magical world. There was a rift in the wizarding community between the haves and the have nots. Pressure among the pureblood circles, essentially the royalty of the modern age, to maintain their bloodline and ensure a great legacy. This would conflict with modern notions of freedom, autonomy and fairness. The young wanted change, goblins with wands, house elves with freedom, muggleborns being valued the same as purebloods and old wizarding families. The sense that fair-is-fair. This would be met with resistance, the old guard who had a tight grip on tradition, who bucked change, who feared the consequences of changing what has worked for a millennia.
The students were the ones to suffer, the least capable of defending themselves. The most vulnerable. As of late all of the wizarding schools have been dealing with strange, suspicious events. The mysterious loss of names, that being the best one could call it -- there were names in their roster, children whose name was written in the inside cover of a textbook that never attended, written in the Book of Admittance with an alleged invitation sent, empty beds and filled trunks with wares nobody would recognize. Yes, that would be the eerie state of Hogwarts, children lost without a word, without a scream, without a thought or a memory.
Sometimes their parent would send a letter seeking their missing child. Sometimes, most of them were muggle born but there were a smattering of wizard borns and purebloods among the missing. Presumed run-aways, the scope of a cover-up that spanned every professor and student would be too grand, it would be utter madness. Runaways was the next thought. Shortly after admission, they wandered off. They chose to run, to hide, a childish ambition perhaps. Some had come to believe that there might be a hidden band of lost boys.
Koldovstoretz had several incidents over the past year that involved what they called 'lurkers.' That was what the kids have been calling them at least. "Eyes in the dark" being the most literal translation. The students have been feeling as if they have been watched, particularly at night. Accidents being more frequent, at first the Professors believed that the children were being superstitious, that they were merely the victims of harmless pranks. Only, the pranks became increasingly more dangerous over the last several months.
There was an unusual frequency of such incidents occurring among muggleborns and halfbloods in particular, a fact that had been suppressed by school officials the best that they could to preserve the peace of the student body. The targeted population might lash out at older families, at purebloods, if they became aware of this pattern. The purebloods whom have suffered accidents as of late they wondered if they were a statistical anomaly or if they were victims of some sort of vigilante justice in the student body.
Like many of the other schools, like the rest of the wizarding world they were on the cusp of a class war.
Koldovstoretz, like Hogwarts supported notions of equality even if Hogwarts was one of the only schools that opened its doors to known werewolves and other dangerous 'inhumans' who possesses wizarding potential. Hogwarts actually scared some of the officials for that reason, their dangerous, foolish willingness to open their doors to potentially murderous monsters had caused Hogwarts to stay their hand. It has been with keen curiosity that Hogwart's successes and failures have been monitored by the rest of the wizarding world.
The plan for today, August 8, 2021 was simple. First was breakfast in their respective cabins. They would leave by carriage for Hogsmeade by 10 and arrive on Main Street an hour later. The intention was simple, the whole Quidditch Team would get supplies for the match next week and show the other schools the benefit of hard work and dedication on the pitch.
The students would wander the town for a couple of hours, getting whatever candy or supplies they needed (or wanted). They would meet back up at two in the city square and then together share a meal at Three Broomsticks. A large open space where the children could chatter amongst themselves and show off their treats or new broomsticks, anything to garner an advantage.
It was merely luck that Anastasia Prokovdine (@Violet Carrington), Luka Volkov (@Kazuo Shimada) and Niklaus Turgenev (@Michael Miller) were not there. Perhaps they were still at their cabin or they were in another shop when everything went wrong. There were signs, those red flags that people think that they should ignore because it would just 'cause an issue.' The wino sermon on a milk crate that the end was nigh! The overcast morning that already threatened rain but refused to pour down as if awaiting a tragic incident.
The only warning was an unseen voice, belonging to a woman that would summon a few wandering teens away from their aisle -- questions about their family. About their friends. Their blood status. The few that recalled, those that lived described her as tall, molecular yet thin with long white hair. Not that they could cite her for anything in particular beyond the fact that after their questioning she would send them off with a voucher, a coupon for Honeydukes - free Jelly Slugs that had fortunately led them away from the perimeter of an explosion.
Yes, an explosion.
A sudden blast of heat and concussive force would send pedestrians flying and leave 17 dead, 8 injured and 2 unaccounted for from Koldovstoretz alone. The Koldovstoretz Quidditch Team suffering disproportionate losses as only three survived, escaped the scope of the explosion.
If the user has access to this forum area, they can feel free to write (it will be unmoderated) an in character reaction with the NPC the events that just unfolded. In the immediate aftermath, your character whomever they are would be uninjured less perhaps a few minor scrapes if you were outside or potentially struck by projectile debris (your choice). The streets would immediately descend into chaos, the screams, those that chose to run and those that chose to try to save. The fire too hot, it consumed too fast. Perhaps if you knew a spell that could help you would even try to extinguish the fire. The adults would be looking for you, calling out your name. They would find you and they would not let you stay. Lunch would be sadly skipped as the Professors who chaperoned this trip absconded with you and your living, possibly mildly injured peers back to the safety of Hogwarts.
You would hear a few words, 'terrorist' and SCAR among them. Mixed emotions, anger mostly from the faceless NPC school staff from Koldovstoretz. SCAR is a squib-based organization and they took the lives of your friends, your teammates, your classmates, possibly your roommates.
It would be 2:30 in the afternoon when you returned to Hogwarts. The carriage would take you back safely. The familiarity of the cabins and your new friends a welcome sight, still hollow from the losses of your faceless NPC classmates and teammates, eventually reality would have to hit you. Who died?
Borislav Kulikov second string Seeker for the quidditch team, a friendly boy that came from a muggle farm. He was a large, stocky boy with a red face and a bit of a mean exterior. He had a soft spot for animals and underclassmen. He was in his fourth year.
Desya Tarasov first string chaser a rather quiet student, had a love for black. A typical 'goth'. This would have been their first season as a chaser, they were very skilled despite their muggle upbringing.
Lara Novikova first string chaser a halfblood wizard, her father was a muggle and her mother was from a prominent pureblood family. The girl was considered a familial disgrace despite her excellent manners and academic promise.
Yakim Volkov first string chaser a rather bookish sort, they were in their third year this year and despite their youth they were already being scouted to play professionally.
Ilya Vasiliev second string chaser, half-brother of Yakim. He was in his second year.
Grisha Vinogradov first string beater a beauty among her peers, a rumored part veela, she was a second generation wizard that was rather temperamental but popular with the boys.
Marianna Nikolaeva second string beater was a 'sturdy' young woman. She had a love for cake, making her a 'bigger' than average young lady. It was said that she would wrestle a cow, beat it with her bare hands and then eat it. Scary thing is, she very well might have.
There is something about ambition, how it not only propels you but also defines you.

Regrettable Circumstances
The ride back to the campgrounds was a solemn one spent struggling with what Luka had just witnessed. A terrorist attack, an explosion, so many lives lost. He had been crying when he’d climbed into the carriage and he was crying when he climbed out of the carriage. As much as he tried to fight back the tears, it turned out to be an impossible task. Every time he thought he had finally run out, had finally exhausted himself, his mind would flash back to that terrible scene and the tears would start anew. He rubbed his reddened eyes with the back of his hand, sleeve pulled over it to try to dry his tears. His gaze was locked on the ground, unwilling to look at the other students, blissfully unaware of what had happened. If he were asked even a single question, it would undoubtedly break his precarious resolve and send him into another bout of sobbing.

Luka felt exhausted, emotionally and physically drained. He didn’t know what to do so he began to walk back toward the cabins, the shadow of gloom around him a palpable aura. He couldn’t face the happy Hogwarts students, couldn’t even face his own classmates. How could he even begin to tell them what had happened?
Boris, who had taken Luka under his wing when he joined Quidditch nearly a year ago. Desya, the quiet goth girl who had shown so much promise. Lara, whom he had looked up to because of her intelligence. Grisha, who had been so pretty and so fiery, perhaps Luka’s first crush, though he had never been brave enough to tell her. Now he never would. Marianna, who had been terrifyingly strong but who had shared his love of sweets. Yakim and Ilya, his older cousins. Yakim who he had looked up to, had tried to emulate. Who had such a promising career. And Ilya, who always made time for him. Ilya who had practiced with him more often than anyone else, had helped him learn his new Keeper technique.
All of them gone.
Luka could feel a new wave of tears building at the corners of his eyes and he quickly tried to dash them away against his sleeve, sniffling softly. He had reached the clearing where the cabins were but he stared at the door to the Hippogryph cabin despondently, unable to bring himself to enter. Instead, he simply took a seat on the ground beside the door, hugging his legs and hiding his face against his knees.Calming Presence Allies - Koldovstoretz StudentsOpen To Interactions

Cassie Heather McGregor-Martin was having a great day, wandering around the campgrounds laughing with Charles over old Quidditch matches and Broomraces.
Or, at least, she was until she heard the whispers.
Terrorist. SCAR. Deaths.
Cassie stopped still. "Charlie..."
Terrorist. SCAR. Deaths.
"Oh my God. Please tell me I'm hearing this wrong."
Terrorist. SCAR. Deaths
Cassie's mind flew to all the people she hadn't seen yet today. All the people who might now be dead-
Koldovstoretz.
Cassie's first, horrifying thought was relief. If it was Koldovstoretz students... her close friends were safe.
Deaths.
But people had died. People. Had. Died. "Oh my God." Cassie rubbed the rosary beads around her wrist. "Charles, are you hearing this?" Her voice was barely a whisper. "Do you think-"
Hogsmeade.
"Who's Hogsmeade?" Cassie blurted, her mind spinning. Was this Hogsmeade one of the people dead? Was Hogsmeade the person who had attacked? Was it... was it a member of SCAR? "Charlie, who's Hogsmeade?" She turned to her friend, who had been the one to introduce her to so much of the wizarding world two years ago. She just hoped he would be able to help her now.
"Did you hear them? SCAR..." Cassie's voice trailed off and she found herself squinting into the distance, even as she rubbed her rosary beads, even as her mind ran through a thousand different prayers, even as she begged for her hearing to be wrong, for this to be some sick joke, for this to be a dream. SCAR. Cassie finally believed Berry, finally believed all he had told her. He'd said that they were terrorists. Cassie had only half believed him. Well, now it seemed he had been proved right.
Deaths.

Charles was having a rather fun day at the camp, walking around with Cassie and discussing, occasionally laughing about old and upcoming quidditch matches and broom races.
That was until the carriage would return from hogsmeade with the Koldovstoretz students and the whispers started.
SCAR Attacked! Explosion! Death! Student's Dead! Terrorists At Hogsmeade!
Charles stopped in his tracks. The whispers of words one would never want to hear. Growing up in a pureblood family, Charles heard about the group SCAR and there attacks. Never having witness it first hand. Until now. Well he witness the aftermath of the ones attack returning.
Charles heard Cassie's voice and looked over at her, slightly shaking his head as he spoke" your not Cass, Koldovstoretz was attacked at hogsmeade, " the blonde front strange. Strange saying those words. Strange imagining what might have happened down there. Strange.
And to imagine that Charles earlier that day was complaining about the group from Koldovstoretz to Cassie. Was discussing with her the possibilities that the school couldn't play that summer and Dumstrang or Beauxbatons got to play instead. Charles couldn't believe be actually thought that. He felt like a awful person.
Cassie's voice again. Panicked. Much like he was. On his past words and on what the students went through. Catching view of a boy from Koldovstoretz. A survivor. Who knows what he must have saw, what he must have witnessed.
Charles looked toward Cassie and switched to French, not realizing it as be spoke"students from Koldovstoretz died. Yes but who would attack kids? Why would they attack them?" The worse didn't sound right. They didn't sound like the type you talk about at a summer camp. They they sound like they should be applied to kids. But they were.
Charles looked around. The students from Koldovstoretz who survived. Who knows what they went though at hogsmeade. Look at the boy hugging his knees, they probably witness death. They couldn't just be alright or could they?
Cassie's voice. Asking about Hogsmeade. Twice. Except she said who instead of what and Charles eyed her as he spoke" hogsmeade is a place, Cass. It's a wizarding community just next to Hogwarts where Koldovstoretz students went today for supplies o think," then it happened the blonde felt himself concerned. Worried. Scared for his friends. People he cared about.
Cassie was safe, she was besides him. Drew and Iris were from Ilvermorny and while he didn't see them yet, figured that they both were safe. At least he hoped they were. Werner wasn't at the camp that year which was a relief especially at the current time and situation. Haley was safe, he saw her in his cabin that morning. His heart skipped a beat thinking of Xeno. He was safe. He was from beauxbatons and they talked all that morning together about anything they could imagine, Charles wouldn't know what he would do if Xeno was injured or worse... finally someone Charles didn't care about or acted like he didn't; Scarlett Aden. Probably same. She was from Hogwarts wasn't she?
Cassie's voice. The word he was dreading. The group he didn't sent to imagine. Came from her mouth. Charles just looked at her eyes wide, unsure what to do or what to say.
Taking a breath, a shaky one and his eyes drifted across the remaining students from Koldovstoretz as he spoke in french to Cassie, " have you heard about them, Cass? SCAR," Charles wasn't going to assume not on something like this. The blonde heard about them from school and home. His family often discussed them and linked them to terrorists, questioning when they would be caught soon. At school it was mixture of words, discussions about the squib based organization. Didn't he have a cousin who was a squib?
Charles would glanced at Cassie and decided to continued in French as he spoke" SCAR is a organization run by squibs, I heard some discussion at home and Dumstrang. Some compare them to terrorists and some just people looking for rights," Charles didn't know what to believe as he looked over the group. It was a sight to see. Looking over them as Charles heard Cassie's words, nodding to them.
" Merlin Bloody Hell."

@Lavinia Cloven Irina @Kazuo Shimada Luka
After the students had breakfast, they were off to Hogsmead for a trip today. Mainly the Quidditch players would be buying supplies and as Nate walked the streets swarming and swapping stuff with his former Quidditch colleagues, he missed it too much. Until recently he had been on the team himself but he had decided that he wanted to try something new and was now a duelist. Both would have been too time consuming and after what would happen today, it had been his luck.
As he continued to walk the streets and look in shop windows, he suddenly heard a loud bang. He bent down and as he felt the heat radiating and the debris flying around, he tried to protect his face with his arm, grabbed his best friend's arm and ran. The heat was almost unbearable, splinters and debris were flying everywhere, some of them hitting his face and arms, leaving small scratches, but he didn't realize it in that moment. He had to get Irina to safety but he didn't know where and all the chaos and the screams didn't make it easy to think clearly.
The smoke, the fire and the heat were increasing. It was pure chaos and he could hear their names being shouted now and then, but he couldn't make out where they were coming from. He heard cries of desperation but also cries of pain and when he realised where the source of the explosion was, his heart skipped a beat. He feared the worst, his classmates and former teammates had been out there and for a moment he just stood rooted to the spot looking at the huge fire. People ran past him, jostled him, but the world around him disappeared. He could no longer hear the screams and a single tear ran down his face.
Out of nowhere he came back to reality and now he ran straight at the fire, he had to help. He had to save people and he had to make sure your classmates were safe. But he was only a boy, there was nothing he could do. The scale was too big and as he tried to shield the heat with his arms, he reached for his wand and performed the extinguishing charm. But the fire was too big, it was pathetic to think he could do anything. He stood there, distraught, and cried out loud once, ruffling his hair.
He heard his name called again and looked around when suddenly someone grabbed him by the arm and pulled him out of the chaos. He didn't know who it was and his gaze was directed backwards to the chaos when he saw someone lying there. He struggled against the hand on his arm, he had to go back, but he lost that fight. He was sure he saw Grisha lying there. She was a first string beater, just like he used to be. They knew each other well and had also trained together a few times and he couldn't believe that they would probably never meet laughing on the Quidditch pitch again.
But it wasn't just Grisha, as he later learned. They lost a total of 17 lives to that explosion. That trip to Hogwarts was turning out to be a huge mistake and Nate wished he could have turned back time and prevented all this. But he couldn't and now he was just sitting in his seat on his way back to Hogwarts. He just sat there, his face expressionless, only the tears running silently down his face foreshadowing his pain. The salty water mixed with the small scratches and blood on his face, but his gaze went fixedly to nothing.
When they finally arrived, Nate stood up without comment and strode outside. The tears were still running, but his gaze continued to be expressionless. Ignoring all stares and students, he made his way directly to his cabin when he noticed Luka, who was also visibly upset. He put his hand on his shoulder and gave one brotherly squeeze, wanting to show him that he was not alone. The two weren't really friends and only knew each other from when Nate himself was still on the Quidditch team, yet they were in this together.

Interacting with Koldovstoretz Students
Language: RUSSIAN
This morning was record to be one of the worst occurrences in Koldovstoretz's history. Six children were killed in the middle of a retaliation by S.C.A.R., a group of terrorists. They were in a building that happened to be blown, causing a scene that was too gruesome to describe.
The worst was not just six children died as casualty, but many more of her students witnessed it. There were going to be many children going through trauma. And as Headmistress, Natasha needed to be there for them. But even more so, she needed to inform the six children's parents, their Koldovstoretz community and more. There was so much to do because of these blasphemous S.C.A.R. terrorist group.
Natasha took out her handheld mirror from her purse and took a glance at herself. Her eyes were slightly red from crying for the poor souls whom put their trust in her. Her makeup was showing signs of streaking. Natasha took her ring finger, licked it, and dabbed gently at the small streaks of makeup, wiping it away. She took a quick look at her whole face, and she felt ready to confront her children.
Walking up to the children, she clasped her hands together in front of her, as if working for a bank. She looked at them, they were crying... Questioning why this could have happened. They were questioning the terrorist group. This only made Natasha feel anger, but she bottled it up. This wasn't about her (although she would like for it to be) it was about them and their needs.
"Please remain calm. Your parents will be informed of this morning's unfortunate event," she said matter-of-factly, speaking in her native tongue to her students. "What you are all experiencing is perfectly normal. If you need assistance, feel free to come to me," she added, acting as professional as possible.
