Hello, Im Tracey Peters, I'm new, even though you may see my join date from a long time, but I haven't used this website, just a Harry Potter Fan, I'm try to put posts, so I can be able to get to the first year assignments, if this what its called. Can someone tell me how classes are and when are holidays?

Hello Tracey! Welcome to Hio. Homework opens up when you have sent at least 20 messages and have been active on the website for 10 days (in the Leaky Cauldron there are games that might help you meet your goal, as well as roleplays.). Under your profile picture next to the blue quill, remembrall and owlery, in the drop menu, the report card will appear. That is where the homework is
The holidays are:

The official school holidays during which the students can go home include Christmas/Winter, Easter and Summer holidays.
- Winter (2 weeks) — December, 23-January, 5.
- Easter (2 weeks) — March-April (different each year), two weeks of holidays, one on each side of Easter Sunday.
- Summer (2 months) — July, 1-August, 31.

Once you have completed the 20 posts there will be a new option "Report Card" on the menu that pops up when you hover over the frame in the right corner. You can access classes then and learn spells and potions. Personally I love doing the classes because they bring housepoints and as a duellist I need the spells XD
The summer vacations are right now until the 1st of September, which is when the new schoolyear starts. In that way it doesn't matter that you have not been active, it's a perfect time to start fresh!

If you want to build your character a bit, those are things you could have a look at:

Before you do anything take a look at the Basic site rules and Rules forum
First- creating an encyclopedia page. That is necessary for you to be able to join events such as balls and adventures, sports like Quidditch and duelling and also to be able to learn spells and move up to the next year in July. (Here is some more info about Player Stats and The Trunk.)
You make that encyclopedia page in this forum. Once you are done with the mandatory posts, you register for the Official Index.

Second- Apply for a Special Race or Ability (More info can be found here). You don't have to do this, but it would give you certain advantages in moderated events. For example Opeila is a seer and with the next year, she will have the ability to have visions of the future. For special races you can apply within one month after you validation, abilities have no time restriction.

Third- To get started with roleplaying, there are a few nice locations:
-Platform 9 3/4
-The Hogwarts Express
-Diagon Alley
-The Sorting Ceremony

Just to name a few. As a Hufflepuff, you can also introduce yourself in your common room, and role play in the Girls Dormitories. In the dorms you can also pick up one sickle everyday. Those you can spend in diagon alley or save up for a pet or other items.

Additionally many people ask for roleplay partners here or advertise open threads here.
