Summertime Sadness
Her gaze was focused on her wrist of which was turned over. She clenched her other fist of which had been resting on her lap when weird sensations made her wrist tingle. First it started in her wrist but it soon spread and she eventually had tingling throughout her body. In an instance it stopped and she felt the wand tip get removed from her wrist. The first thing she did was rotate her wrist, for some reason.
It didn't feel any different once the process was done. She heard a flop, most likely Dale's body dropping like a sack of potatoes on the ground next to her. Was it really that exhausting? Annie shrugged but decided to play along. So she just had to say the special word and then try it out. The brunette took a deep breath before starting. "Hurricane." She spoke the word clearly before pausing and starting again. "Right okay I said the word aaaand I'm talking right now without my mouth not moving now whoop-di-do can you hear me?" Annie had paused realizing that if he was so tired that he couldn't talk she wouldn't know if she could hear him. "Can you give me a thumbs up or at least say something so I know this is working?"
She snorted at the image of people just staring at her as she stared at nothing with her mouth closed for minutes on end before quickly recovering and hiding her amusement. Wait could he hear that in the link? Can he hear my thoughts? Oh god. Wait no it's just when I say Hurricane right? Annie panicked for a second before calming down. "Hey.. thanks by the way for researching and doing all of this. I know you didn't do it for my benefit you were probably just bored out of your mind at home, but still, thanks." She bumped his shoulder with hers, a small smile on her lips. Things were finally starting to look up for her.

He should've been worried, there were a lot of things that could have gone incredibly bad. Maybe he got the mark shape wrong and now it was just a semi-scar that was permanently on her. Or maybe he channeled the magic completely wrong and hurt her magic ability, he had read about a few other side effects that could maybe occur. All of that would've been fine if he had been the only one taking the risk, but he wasn’t, also maybe it would’ve been just a bit better if he had actually told her that there was a risk of anything bad happening. But he didn’t… he had a good reason to not. Put simply he didn’t wanna scare her, he was confident in his ability, for the better or for the worse.
Dale grinned when he heard Annie’s voice go through his head. It had worked, so all that energy and effort hadn’t gone to waste. He sat up, and muttered “Hurricane” he could feel a connection kinda form in his head, but maybe that was just a placebo effect. “I kinda wish we didn’t have to say a word to activate it, but oh well, you’ll just have to say it really quietly if you need help on a test.” Dale wondered if she could hear the sarcasm in his voice while he spoke. There was still a lot to figure out even after the mark was applied. But hey it was there and it worked and no one got hurt… for now.
Dale looked over to Annie when he heard her actual voice, he was a bit confused by the thanks, “It was no issue at all, yea boredom played in it, but despite how it may seem I really do like researching stuff like this for fun.” dale paused for a second and consider his next words, “I really should be thanking you, it’s a pretty big commitment to be permanently marked, so if it wasn’t for you I’d never be able to do this” Dale got up from where he was sitting, “It’s a bit late, we should probably get back to our cabins before we get yelled at.” Dale reached out grabbed her hand to help her up, “You want me to take you back to your cabin?”
