Tulips Finished

Aldor had already finished two whole chapters and the prologue by the time Cosmo started to drift away, he paused for a few seconds, but realised that it might be better if he just didn't say anything and kept reading, that's why they were here after all.

Somehow in only two days he managed to become friends with someone, and there weren't any problems as he did this, it was surprising to say the least, he almost felt like this was one of his greatest achivement ever, of course, he couldn't be a pessimist and say he never had the chance to get any friends, that would be a lie, he had a few friends, but it was sort of shocking whenever he was able to make things go as smoothly as today.

This book brought him many nice memories, the first week inside of his aunt's home, the times he went out with his siblings, learning about magic for the very first time, it was all still very clearly inside of his mind, and he was pretty sure that these weren't things that he would feel sad about, he got many chances thanks to the fact that he had to move with his aunt.

If it wasn't because his parents sent him away he wouldn't have gotten the opportunity to have adventures at Hogwarts, to meet new and interesting people, if it wasn't because of that, he wouldn't have met Cosmo and all of his friends, maybe it really wasn't that bad anymore.

Finally, he realised that he had slowed down his reading, so he picked up the pace again, taking a few looks at Cosmo who at this point did seem to be either as sleep or meditating, but it didn't bother Aldor, he suposed she was still paying attention and kept on reading.

Cosmo didn't know when she fell asleep, but she remembered the gentle lulling of Aldor's voice, and then she was walking in a field of daisies. It was daytime, but hazy - with strange colourful mists floating about. Purples and blues mixed together, lifting Cosmo off the ground and high up into the sky. Below her the Nargun and Potkoorok fought, green scales and slivers of rock flying in all directions. It was a long, drawn out battle, and instead of the fear one might expect, Cosmo felt boredom. That's why when she started to fall it was all the more terrifying. Hurtling and tumbling towards the ground, vision blurring into a mix of sky and ground and snarling creatures waiting for her to drop into their awaiting claws. She screamed, and awoke with a jolt. Mouth open in a silent rendition of the scream from her dream.

It took a moment of blindly looking around before she finally realised where she was. Her panicked breathing was not loud enough to bring the attention of others in the library but it would most likely alert Aldor. The flower crown had tipped from Cosmo's hair, and lay on the floor - flowers falling at odd angles. She bent and gathered it in her arms, laying it on her lap and fiddling the loose stems back into place.

"I'm so sorry," she told Aldor, cheeks white and hands shaking slightly. "I never fall asleep during the day," This was the kind of thing she was sure would worry the poor boy, so she hurried to ease any concern with a small smile. "your reading was very relaxing I suppose."

''Oh, I uh- thanks, I think?''

He gave her a shy smile trying not to think about how startled she was once she woke back up.

''Well, I am glad that you managed to feel relaxed enough to fall asleep on one of these chairs, didn't expect my voice to be that soothing.''

The chairs on the library were comfortable to sit on them for hours and hours on end, but they weren't exactly comfortable for sleeping more so than being in a static position and read, of course, this was Aldor's point of view, and he was not the sort of person who could be able to fall asleep while reading. It wouldn't be the first time Aldor had seen someone asleep or in the procces of falling asleep on one of these chairs, specially in exam season, there were kids in the edge of falling asleep over their books all over the place.

''Well uh- If you are tired you can keep sleeping, I am not going anywhere after all.''

He placed the open book over the table as he stretched his arms a little and went back to the position he was sitting in before, he really didn't have anything else planned for today, maybe if they stayed until dinner they could sit together again, he was not excited about the idea of sitting at the Hufflepuff table tonight, of course, if they had to, he could move the plan for some other day, pattience, everything came down to pattience in the end, or at least that's what Aldor read in a book that he found several weeks before.

Cosmo smiled a little wider now, feeling safer as the world came into focus and reality settled in. At the mention of going back to sleep she shook her head vehemently.

"No I definitely don't want to sleep again, sometimes if you sleep after a nightmare you can go back to it," Cosmo grimaced at the thought, "I don't think I'd want to try my luck fighting the Nargun or the Potkoorok but definitely not together."

The itch to go outside had returned, and Cosmo wriggled around in her chair trying to convince her muscles to sit a while longer. It failed miserably. She really had wanted to stay with Aldor for a while today though, and frowned at the thought of parting company. Then as it was often want to do, her brain started scheming and Cosmo leant forward to propose her plan.

"I know you prefer indoors but I was thinking... what if we went outside and sat under a tree to read?" she hastened to make it sound inviting, sure that Aldor would have at least some hesitancy. "We can bring a blanket and choose somewhere away from other people! I do understand if you don't want to though."

Aldor nodded, smiling softly as he always did, for some reason he didn't feel like going outside for once was a bad thing, today had a nice weather too, it wasn't that sunny, but the outside was not completely darkneded by clouds, maybe it was a good idea to go out and enjoy the air and peace for a while, he enjoyed the outside, as long as the sun wasn't shining too much.

''Sounds good to me, was there any place you had in mind?''

Aldor rested his chin on his hand, taking a quick look around them, quiet, that was the only way he could describe how the atmosphere felt today, yes, they were in the library, but Aldor being the type of person he was, had the bad habit of listening to others while he was reading, he heard everything, from people confessing their love to sad family stories that other students had. He didn't listen to those conversations intentionally, but his brain wasn't able to lock everything else outside whenever he wasn't focused in one specific thing.

But it was different when he was with his friends, that was probably the only time in which Aldor was able to ease his mind and keep his thoughts centered in something, otherwise, he was most likely fighting to keep his mind focused, most of the time it was just blurry, a complete mess, like a room that has not been cleaned for a long time, there wasn't a specific place for anything, there was only one thing that remained.

Chaos.

Cosmo felt a great leap of excitement when Aldor agreed, and she wiggled in her seat; big grin in place. Outside the weather seemed perfect, and places flickered through her mind at a rate of knots. They could sit by the great lake, or under that patch of birch trees, or up next to the caste walls... she felt as though somewhere that other people weren't was the best option.

"Maybe we could see if the quidditch pitch is empty? I bet there wouldn't be anyone there!"

Cosmo felt her bubbly excitement rising up again, and she hastily quietened herself, remembering they were in the library. But once they were outside outside she would be able to run and let out all of the excess energy that had built up since her nightmare.

"Thank you for agreeing to come," she smiled happily at Aldor, hoping he knew how excited it had made her. "Maybe I can even teach you how to make a flower crown!"

Picking her own up and placing it back on her head, Cosmo began packing up her belongings to head out. She waited for Aldor to do the same, and then with a little skip and one last smile she walked out of the Library towards new adventure.
