switching to truth for next round

It was a shame that Cassie had only heard Kazuo The Ball Organiser's first scathing remark to - what was her name? Vivian - or her response may have been different. As it was, she swung her hand towards his head, ignoring an older boy's look of disapproval, only for him to duck out of the way. Oh. That was annoying. Cassie had almost been looking forward to hitting him; not just for assuming other people's thoughts and then being unnecessarily annoying about it, but also for putting Armorentia into the punch fountains at the Blossom Ball. I need to figure out some way to get back at him for that, she thought spitefully, entirely forgetting that it wasn't only Kazuo who had organised the ball. She'd found one person to blame, and in Cassie's mind that was it. Done. He was the culprit. It didn't help that she hadn't liked him much anyway for telling her that the Macarena had been insulting to the original creator of the song, which had confused her a little before she had remembered that there was a Spanish version. Now, at the Hogwarts boy's threat, Cassie raised her hands up in the air in a half-sarcastic motion. Cool down, I didn't even hit! It was perhaps more than a little ironic for an outsider who knew Cassie Heather, because that would probably have been similar to her own response if she had been caught in the same situation.

Scarlett reminded Cassie that she didn't know any sign language, and Cassie just shrugged helplessly. She'd been hoping that her friend might have been able to... she didn't know... read her mind or something? Read her expression? The Beauxbatons girl crossed her arms when Scarlett gave her a pointed look as she said that her slap was 'a bit extreme', then relaxed again slowly. Okay, so maybe the Gryffindor had a point. But what else had Cassie been supposed to do?

Vivian, the poor girl who'd been caught up in all of this, made an attempt to apologise for what Cassie had done. Cassie sort of appreciated the younger girl's desire to keep her from getting hexed, but she was still entirely capable of apologising for herself if she wanted to. Which she didn't. Cassie's way of communicating this without talking was to attempt to pat Vivian on the head and step out from behind her.

Then, the dark-haired girl - Santario, as named by her shirt - stepped between Cassie and Kazuo and told her sharply that, actually, the boy had been sticking up for her. Now that she spoke, Cassie could clearly hear the Fench accent laced through her words. Oh. Oh, now she just felt stupid, and she felt her cheeks flush a little red at Santario's words. She could understand that, sort of. Cassie had been made fun of for her English accent a few times when she'd started at her muggle primary school in France, but she'd never minded someone trying out an English accent when it wasn't directed at her. Also, Kazuo's accent wasn't even French! Maybe if someone had been imitating his accent then Cassie would have realised where he was coming from. The shorter girl paused for a second, trying to figure out how to say what she wanted to say... without saying it. Actually, what did she want to say? She squinted at Santario for a moment while she talked to the boy, then realised that Scarlett was talking. Cassie recognised her friend's defensive tone and flared up for a moment with the knowledge that someone had made her need to defend herself, but then decided that she'd rather not start a fight. The slap had been a one-off thing. Something to tell Kazuo what Cassie thought of him. It didn't need to be repeated unless necessary. After a second or two, Cassie put one hand on one of Scarlett's arms and squeezed it gently. I agree with you, but she's not entirely wrong. Then, she reached up and put it on Santario's shoulder for a moment. You, I understand. She widened her hands towards Kazuo, then shrugged. Him, I don't know. Then Cassie gave up and reverted back to sign language, which she doubted anyone would understand but which was still worth a try. He doesn't even have a French accent...

Then Dee came over, and from the look on her face Cassie was pretty sure she had to have some sort of authority here. The Beauxbatons girl listened to her little speech with a squint fixed onto her face. If she kept thinking for much longer she was going to look like she had something in her eye, but she didn't care much about that. Dee seemed to be annoyingly good at making all the right points, apart from the part about it not being a good dare (in Cassie's opinion, it had been marvelous). She did kinda get how it could offend someone now though. And maybe slapping hadn't been the best idea - although Cassie still did wish she'd hit, it wasn't mostly because of what Kazuo had said anymore but because of her still-standing grudge about the Blossom Ball love potion. Cassie patted Dee on the back, a hopefully-friendly show of support. Okay. I get that.

Then she turned towards Kazuo and sneered right back at his suggestion that she might 'attack' him again. In Cassie's book, one slap which ended up missing didn't count as an attack, but that wasn't what was up for debate right now. I don't like you. Cassie Heather was nothing if not honest, although her bluntness was maybe something which she should have attempted to improve upon in her nearly-fourteen years of life. But... Cassie had no idea how to say 'tempory pax because, although you're annoying and I don't like you, I guess you had a point, even though you were pretty rude about it and I still don't like you,' in sign language. Actually, she didn't know how to say 'pax' in plain French, let alone French sign language. Was there even a French word for it, or did you just have to use Latin universally? 'Pax' was Latin, right? So she squinted again. Shrugged. Pointed towards herself, then the other side of the Truth or Dare area. Then, with the other hand, she pointed at Kazuo and then to the opposite side. I'll stay away from you, if you stay away from me. This was about as close to an apology as Cassie got, really.

Kazuo, however, seemed to have the same idea - but he went about it an entirely different way. Cassie flung her hands upwards in dispair and stepped backwards as the boy left. "But he didn't even say he felt uncomfortable!" she said, a little bewildered, forgetting in the heat of the moment that she was supposed to be staying silent. "He was saying that other people would when no-one else even... ah sugar." Cassie clamped her mouth shut again. Sorry, she signed.

And then Santario left as well, which was annoying, since Cassie had a feeling that she wouldn't be too bad if she didn't like showing off about her duelling accomplishments. Cassie didn't even like duelling. It was kinda interesting to watch sometimes, but it had none of the real joy of broom racing, or even quidditch, which she had gotten into playing recently. It was just shooting spells at each other, and where was the fun in that? Cassie watched the girl follow Kazuo out and scowled. Well, wasn't that just a brilliant start to the... she faultered, having no idea how to say game in sign language. Oh, how Cassie hated not being able to speak!

Cassie suddenly noticed how down Vivian was looking. She grabbed her shoulders and attempted to force the girl to look her in the eye, then raised her eyebrows. Really? None of this is your fault. To be honest, some of it was Cassie's. Cassie sometimes found it hard to accept blame for things, but once she had she was fine with admitting it. She pointed at Scarlett, then Kazuo, then herself. It's mostly ours. Scarlett and her's for not thinking about everyone else here, Kazuo's for getting annoyed at Vivian, and Cassie's for getting annoyed at Kazuo. She put an arm around Vivian now and firmly steered her away if the Hogwarts girl would let her do so, nodding at Scarlett to follow. It would probably be best for them all to get as far away from this as possible.

As soon as she could, Cassie went over to the goblet and scribbled down on some paper her new choice. CASSIE HEATHER MCGREGOR-MARTIN. TRUTH. Truths were easier to deal with, and right now Cassie was okay with going for the easier option. Also, Cassie was one of the few people she knew who was okay with picking Truths - most of her friends (Scarlett included) prefered dares.

Well it seemed everyone had calmed down, for now until another person's ego or opinion got crushed and the students tried ripping each others heads off again. He probably shouldn't have gotten involved anyways, but he couldn't help it. Milo was not letting a younger girl get yelled at by a boy, regardless of who started it or what it was about. In all honesty the whole thing reminded him of a street cat fight he had seen as a kid. Growing up as a pureblood everything was perfect except for one day where two cats were circling each other. A few more showed up and it felt like an actual fight. Milo being an impressionable young child at the time sat there in awe watching the cats tear each other to shreds. He bet on the ginger cat as it was the scrawny underdog much like he was in his family. It came to a draw as a car passed the road, startling the cats from their turf war or whatever it was and he went home to re-tell the fight.

The boy ran a hand through his blonde curls and made his way back to the blanket he had laid out on the grass. There he sat with his hands on his knees and remembered there was another round and another wave of choices and the consequences of them. His truth had been odd yet easy so he decided to go for a dare this time. Change doesn't hurt nobody, especially in a game. Plus questions were sometimes scarier than actions. If anything he made a fool of himself but at least he didn't have to admit his deepest fear or anything.

In the meantime he relaxed back on the blanket the warm sun scorching him, although not in a bad way. Perhaps he could work on his tan to not look so pasty. His blonde hair enough made him stand out compared to the other Durmstrang students, he didn't need to be a sheet of paper as well. Milo had reached into one of the picnic baskets nearby and pulled out a lemonade, his favorite and most refreshing summer drink, at least in his opinion. The boy finally let his guard down and closed his eyes, putting his hands behind his head, awaiting the chaos the rest of the afternoon would bring.

It was a relief that the fight got over by now but that doesn’t seem to help her with regaining that mood when she entered this place, at present it was rather so sluggish and weak, she couldn’t help but feel that way. When Cassie grabbed hold of her shoulder, she looked at her with a forced smile that didn’t reach her eyes. Looking at her trying to convey something in sign language, she nodded as she blinked in confusion, “Okay, understood” though nothing got inside her head, she doesn’t want to disappoint Cassie with the truth, already she saw how she suffered when Scarlet didn’t understand her.

The blonde let Cassie lead the way with her smiling face which seems to change to a real smile. After all, some didn’t hate her, they liked her company, that’s why they are taking her with them, right? Or no? Is it just pity? The blonde shut her eyes close for few seconds to remove all these thoughts inside her head. No, she was here to purely enjoy, not to cry or feel bad. She is not going to be troubled or bothered by anything anymore. With a long exhale, she walked again to the goblet to write down what?

What should she write now? Should she choose dare again and get into another trouble or should she choose truth and spill out her secrets to everyone? Maybe in the next round she would choose truth, she was still not ready for this. The blonde narrowed her eyes a little bit trying to figure out why she is overthinking after the fight. In the first round, she didn’t think this way, she picked it out randomly but here, she’s racking her brains to just choose between truth or dare, which is not at all fine. What happened before would no more spoil her mood and she would no more spoil others mood with her worthless expressions and feelings. Clasping the quill, she wrote Vivian Fletcher, dare again. The blonde felt scared to choose dare but she chose it again so that she would be no more afraid of it.

Dan had to give his next truth. He had realized too late that he did not specify wanting a dare this time, and would be saddled with another truth.
Well, the last one fell flat, so this wouldn't be THAT bad, surely. But dares were more fun. He'd had yet to give one, too. While safe, this was.... a bit boring. He hadn't even gotten anything good out of the exceptionally rude little langer he gave his first truth to.

Oh well. Maybe this one would be better suited to get a good reaction. Not a "Myeeh myeh myeh,I dont have an attraction to anyone, myeeeeeh, are you a gossip thot? Im boring and dull and ruin fun games, myeh myeh myeh"

He looked around until he found one named Cassie Smith.

"Hey! How ya doin'? Names Dan, and I'll be givin' ye a truth today. And ya HAVE to be truthful!"

He thought a moment.

Name someone ye've pretended to like, but you really cannot stand."

This one had a much higher chance of being fun. Honestly. The first one was SO disappointing. But then, his answer wasn't great either. But it was a simple yes or no question. So it got a no. He had never cheated on his homework. Nor did he intend to.
Dan awaited Cassies answer, and his own truth. Or dare. He hoped dare.

The moment Cassie Heather dropped her new request into the goblet, mere moments after Vivian had done the same, it spat out a name. Cassie beamed. "Vivian! I got you!" she blurted, before suddenly realising: "Oh hey, I can speak!" She looked at Scarlett and Vivian for a moment. "Look, I'm sorry about that. He did deserve it though, if not for what he said just then. You know he was the one who put love potion in the drinks at the Blossom Ball?" Cassie told Vivian. Let nobody ever say that Cassie Heather McGregor-Martin was not as blunt as a rounded stone.

"Anyway, moving on from that." Cassie squinted at Vivian, trying to think of a dare; a good dare. And not just a good dare, but also a pretty easy one, because Cassie was fairly sure that Vivian wouldn't want a hard one right now. "Hm. I dare you to..." Cassie smirked and held out the Sharpie which she had brought with her. "Write something on the back of my t-shirt. Or the front, I don't mind. Anything you like. Ask Scar if you want ideas." Cassie knew that this came with an element of risk mostly for her rather than Vivian, but she didn't want to repeat the dare she'd given Xeno, who'd decided not to do it anyway. This one was more fun for her at least.

Before Vivian could take the pen, however, a brown haired boy came up to the three girls, talking animatedly to Cassie. "'Course! Cassie Heather McGregor-Martin, but call me Cassie 'cos it's way quicker to say than 'Cassie Heather' is." Unfortunately, his question wasn't hard to answer. "What's the point in pretending to like someone if you don't like them?" Cassie replied, almost confused. "Sorry to let you down, dude, but there's no-one. I don't do all the weird friend-but-not-friend stuff. Doesn't make sense." She shook her head.

Scarlett was so goddamn done. She was trying to make a point, trying to not make this argument worse that it already worse, but no. People just had to keep shooting remarks and acting preposterously dramatic, didn't they? Well. If everyone else was going to keep fighting over a stupid little dare, then Scarlett would finally be the mature one. The one to quit the debate, the one to walk away. But it seemed like Outfit-Stealer and Martin had the same idea, the two of them leaving together like the ultimate theatrical pair. Scarlett couldn't resist a quick, "Good riddance!" before leaving with Cassie, just as some random guy she recognised as the captain of the Slytherin Quidditch Team came up and started to berate then. Scarlett ignored him.

Cassie still couldn't speak, but Scarlett understood her just fine as she led Vivian away from the drama. Scarlett tagged along as Cassie changed to a truth for the next round, which was accepted by Scarlett with a nod of the head and a thumbs up. Scarlett entered her name as dare, and once she had, the goblet churned out another name. MILOSH, whoever that was. DARE. Scarlett clapped her hands at Cassie's revelation at being able to speak again. "Congratulations," she said, in mock-sorrow. "That must've been a very hard time for you. I completely under - ooh! Do a swear word!" The last point was added on quickly as Cassie asked Scarlett for ideas about what Vivian could write on her t-shirt. "Eh, just kidding. Oh sugar, maybe? Or maybe something funny, I dunno. I don't memorise short funny quotes for everyday use unfortunately. Oh, gotta go and give a dare to this Milosh guy, be right back!"

She ambled around and yelled "MILOSH! MILOSH!" for a while, before finding the boy who had joined the fight earlier. His impression was ever so slightly tainted by this, but Scarlett did respect his willingness to speak up. At the moment however, he appeared to be sunbathing. "Seeing as you love lying down so much..." said Scarlett, the spark of an idea appearing in her head as she approached him. "I dare you to stay in that position until the next round!" She then remembered Cosmo's dare and groaned internally, yet also thanking the girl for her good idea. "You're also not allowed to say it's a dare...pwetty pwease?" Scarlett tacked on puppy-dog eyes at the end before breaking the illusion and sauntering back to Cassie, triumphant.

"It's not," she replied to Kazuo, nodding. "Didn't mean to imply that it was." She didn't think Cassie would attempt to attack him again, but honestly couldn't fault him or Santario for leaving. She gave both of them a regretful smile and a small wave before turning back to the others, trying to stay enthusiastic about the game. She'd been excited for it beforehand, and it should be the type of activity she blossomed in, but she still deflated a little.

At least the tension diffused with Kazuo and Santario gone, Scarlett and her friends wandering off as well, and the others had the opportunity to return to the game, give out the next round of tasks. A truth to be asked from Dan Palmer, in her case.

Dee paused, her eyes skimming the surrounding students as she thought of what little she knew about the boy. Older than her, Slytherin's Quidditch captain. Had performed an Irish dance at the Apollo trial. Honked Peri's nose at their coronation. That was pretty much it. Not much to go off of for posing a question, so she supposed a generally interesting one would have to do.

Finally spotting her new target, she hopped over to him, smiling. "Hi! Dan, right? I'm supposed to give you a truth. So, what I'd like to know: What's the worst thing anyone has ever done to you?"

"One can never consent to creep when one feels an impulse to soar."

Mentioning Kazuo Shimada
Before she could know whose name was written in the paper she picked from the goblet, a smile stretched on Viv’s face as she found out that Cassie was the one who got to dare her, “That’s a relief”. After what happened a few minutes ago, the blonde expected Cassie would come up with a easy dare, that probably wouldn’t offend anybody. “Oh, you can speak now? I thought you weren’t supposed to until this game ends”, as Viv nodded her head slightly. When Cassie continued, the blonde blinked rapidly in confusion, so the drinks were really spiked and Kazuo was the one who spiked it.

That was a lot of information for just one day. It was because of him, she acted that way, not because of any spirits. “I... didn’t... know”, her narrowed eyes fixated on Cassie. It didn’t affect her in big way but it was still wrong to do that, “then why did he act as tho he is perfect?”. Her face turning a little red, she shook her head in disbelief. Of course, the blonde was wrong this day which she realised late but he was not so good to point it out and he wasn’t involved in it anyway. Coming out from all these thoughts not wanting to think and research any more of it, she waited for Cassie’s dare.

The blonde could do nothing but chuckle when she heard the dare, “It’s more like a dare to you”, and waited until she answered her truth. Grabbing hold of the pen from Cassie’s hand, she tilted her head slightly trying to decide what to write. After a few seconds, “Mm, okay...”, with that she started writing HUG ME on the front side of her shirt, “I wrote hug me... oh, yes!”, she quickly bent her head again to add PLEASE. With a smile, “Do you like being hugged?”, she raised her eyebrows. If Cassie says she likes, Vivian would hug her and if she says no, she would just chuckle at her.

Finally looking at the paper after realising that she had to dare someone named Piper Clark, she glanced around until she noticed a shirt that was written the name, “Hello”, she smiled before continuing, “I dare you to...” pausing to think as she looked around the area and the bunch of snacks and drinks that was placed where she first sat down caught her attention, “...fill your mouth with water or any other drink if you want to say something” and added before turning away with a smile, “until this round ends”.

Cosmo smiled at Dan as he explained that no, he did not give Simon a dare. This left the question as to who had made the poor hufflepuff wander around without sight, but they would have to catch up about it later, because it was time for a new round. Cosmo gave Simon a consoling pat on the back. "Goodluck buddy, you'll have to tell me how this went later," she said, before turning and walking to the big goblet of fire and fishing out her second target. An incredulous snort escaped when she read the same name as before; Scarlett.

This time it only took a second to scan the crowd and find her beautiful bright hair again, and Cosmo was off, racing towards the other gryffindor. "Scarlett!" she called, "I have you again!" The burst of energy had no doubt come from all of the sugar pumping through Cosmo's veins, but it was short lasting and she stood in front of Cassie and Scarlett huffing and grinning for a second. "I never got to reply to you before all the chaos happened, but I like you too!" she gushed at Scarlett. "You make me think of firecrackers and sour gummies." It was meant as a compliment, Cosmo couldn't imagine those things being anything but good traits in a personality, but perhaps people who weren't her and Scarlett would find that odd.

She turned to Cassie now, and stuck out her hand with a grin. "Hello! My name is Cosmo, and I have to give your friend another dare," the word another was strung out as though it was a great hassle, but Cosmo never stopped smiling which ruined the effect. She turned back to Scarlett, all business once again. "Alright, despite recent events I don't think this game has nearly enough chaos so I think we should add some to the mix..." this plan had been forming in the young gryffindors mind for the whole round, and she let out a laugh which was more cackle than anything. "I know you're not a first year, which means you must have learnt the tickling charm! Well, I dare you to cast on every new person you talk to."

Cosmo could not wait to see people falling down laughing all around her, but she decided to play fair. "You can say that it's a dare if you want to though, I don't want anyone to get mad at you," she almost added again, but decided not to bring up the past. "One last thing! You and I have already talked so don't go getting any silly ideas, I don't count as new."
