Talking to @Xander Smythe
"They might have been heavy but you definitely have a lovely clean base now," she said, looking over all the smooth rock surfaces. Her artists brain was getting distracted thinking how lovely it would be to paint on them, but she refocused her attention on Xander. Rock art could be for later. Cosmo nodded that yes, she would be joining in the competition and smiled when the younger boy offered to build together.

"That's a really lovely thought, but I think I might be a bit too lazy to heave all the big sticks up," a chuckle followed the confession, "when I make my shelter I'll probably use lighter materials." Now that she had begun to plan, Cosmo's expression turned to one of scheming, and she pushed her hair up into a high ponytail as she spoke.

"Your idea of vines or roots is brilliant, although I haven't seen any around..." she sucked in her cheeks while she thought, before grinning wide and searching through her bag. "I know! I have an old ball of yarn in here that I can give you, I don't know how strong it is, but maybe if you divide it into three lengths and then plait it that would help keep it together!"

The ball itself was blue and muddy, still damp from being outside for so long. It wasn't particularly appealing, but Cosmo held it forth anyway - knowing that anything was better than nothing when it came to building a shelter. "Okay well I wish you the best of luck," she grinned and stood, gathering her stuff before leaving to find a suitable building spot of her own. "May the best man win!"

Isaac was nodding furiously at everything the pair said. It didn’t matter that it made sense, for he agreed! He agreed so much that he hardly noticed Alan’s outstretched hand toward him.

It was only the blur of motion as he inevitably retracted it that the younger boy realised his blunder, and in a vehement lunge, caught hold of it as it returned to his side. He clenched his teeth in an apologetic smile as he shook his hand with enthusiasm. To his inquiry about which house he wished to be sorted into, Isaac simply shrugged his shoulders, releasing the other boy’s hand when he realised he had been shaking it for far too long.

When asked about whether he was enjoying himself, he replied quickly, in breathless gasps, “Yes!

Vladimir’s warning still hung over him like a storm, but he chose not to allow that to dampen his mood. Besides, the words of many proved contrary to his experience of a bloody hellish year. Instead, his curious hand would seek out the spotted feline to pet it gently. Come here, kitty…
@Santario Martin
Alan and Santario would discuss ideas on their respective shelters, with the older boy offering a few suggestions and taking his leave. Isaac’s gaze trailed after him as he grew distant, his eyes full of unspoken admiration. When Alan was no longer within earshot, he turned calmly toward Santario and professed, “I’d love to be in Gryffindor. The students in Gryffindor are really one of a kind.

Perhaps she knew what he meant by this. He had intended it as both a statement of genuine commendation and playful mockery. A knowing smile expressed that he had seen his fair share of stupidity in the time that he had been here. Yet, there was a seriousness in his tone that was hard to overlook, that yes, he really meant what he had said.

Of course, it didn’t take long for his awkwardness to wash over as he quickly added on in fear of offending her, “Slytherin is cool too! I think I like Slytherin because of how nice you are.

He would just roll his eyes at her, not buying into her dramatic antics for even one second. The other boy had been a bit delayed in his reaction to shake his hand, creating a quite awkward moment, though the fourth year knew to smile confidently and cover up on the slip up. He wouldn't want to make the other kid feel bad for himself, this was unlike himself and he could only imagine how nervous the other could be. Alan would chuckle when the other boy would respond, "We surely do have a lot of personality in our house," he'd offer kindly as he watched Tiger jump from the log as the feline made his way to the kids and get some attention.

"Even if they won't be using it, it's gonna look cute at least and Tiger has some room to play around," as he began to plan out in his head what he'd want. He was thinking of making a bigger one, so that he could have a little shelter as well, though he wanted to make one for Tiger too, and whatever creatures might find their way out this far. He'd push himself off the ground and wipe his hands onto his pants, they'd get ruined anyway sooner or later. "I'm off to gather some branches for my project," he let them know as he delved deeper into the thicket as far as the groundskeeper would let him go at least. Tiger stayed behind for a bit, just to get some more pats from either, before he pushed through their hands and ran after his owner, when Alan began to gather and pick up twigs and sticks.

As Gabriella continued to build her shelter, it became clear that Winter was far better than she was, and the Hufflepuff's shelter was coming along a lot better than Gabby's own. While the Ravenclaw was slightly annoyed by this - she was a competitive soul, after all - at least now it was clear that she wasn't copying. While the shape of her shelter was the same as Winter's, that was all she had planned for it to be. Winter's shelter was that and much more - she even had a proper door, and had fashioned herself her own blade! Gabriella looked at her own pitiful shelter and grimaced - yeah, she wasn't going to win.

No matter though, she told herself, it's a working shelter, and after all, she could still make
the sign. What should I name my shelter, I wonder? Gabby thought to herself. Should I go for a creative name? This is a creative task, after all... or should I just call it Gabby's Shelter? So the local woodland folk know where to find me? She snorted at the outlandishness of her own daydreams.

'Local woodland folk', Gabriella. Honestly.

Gabby paused Winter in the middle of a rant about how she was 'too nice'. She hadn't meant to interrupt, but the truth was she hadn't really been listening, and she realised too late that the Hufflepuff was talking to her. "I'm just going to scrape up some moss," she murmured. What Winter had been talking about seemed rather vain, anyway, Gabby thought to herself. She was guilty for having abandoned the girl, and was trying to think of excuses for why leaving her might actually have been fine, given the circumstances. Even so, she needed to apologise when she got back.

"Sorry for leaving you like that," she said on her return, her arms laden with moss. "And, uh, you are very nice."

"Do you want to partner up?" asked Winter, after a while. Gabriella froze - for some reason she hadn't been expecting that question, although Winter seemed exactly the sort of person who might ask it.
"Uh-" stuttered Gabby. She had really, really, really wanted some alone time tonight... but on the other hand, she had a feeling saying no might break this girl's heart... "-sure. Sure. Ok. Sure thing. Uh - how do we - do you think we should make, like, a bridge or something?" She smiled weakly. "You know what, you're a lot better than I am," she said. "You tell me what to do, I'll do it. And if we win, you can take the prize."

The boy was peculiar, that was for sure, but she figured he would loosen up eventually. Being respectful was great, but this was overdoing it just a bit; then again, he was still new, and adjustment took time. “All the houses are great in their own way, and even then, they do not define you as a person.” San gave some final scritches to Tiger as Alan announced his departure. “Very true, have fun, you two!”

Santario sat back and looked at Isaac crossing her legs setting her dirty hands on her jeans. “Most of my family thought I was going to get into Hufflepuff. I would not put too much stake into your house, though. Just remember who you want to be as a person in this world. It is true that those will be the people you spend most of your time with while at school because of the dorms and common room. They will help shape you as you grow, but that does not define you in the end. Just remember that.” After all, the hat was never wrong, but that did not mean that the house it put you in was what solely defined you either. “Just do not play into all the stereotypes. It is great to have house pride but do not let it consume you.”

Her sapphire eyes moved from the boy to the branches that they had just dug the holes for, and she supposed they should probably make an effort to finish, so she grabbed a branch and secured the bottom of it into one of the holes and leaned it against the tree. “Any interest in Quidditch, Broom Racing, or Duelling?” Not that everyone enjoyed being in a sport but at least it was conversation.

This is the Noah's attempt at building a... building of a sort
Noah had an interest in a wooden house, well, maybe a little tent. He imagined it would be bigger than his bedroom at home, since the bedroom was 80 square feet. Danger may occur, but who cares? Its the small area to sleep that Noah seems to be so interested in. He grabbed a few ten feet tall branches of wood that were as thick as small tree trunks. He staked them up in a manner that seemed professional.

The unique feel of sticky sap dripped over his hands. He smiled, knowing how good it would be just to stick a branches down the sides of it. Noah gripped a handful of little branches and slowly but painstakingly putting each branches on in unique patterns on his little tent.

Together, the result of it in a bony figure, was a Hippogriff and a little stick figure riding it. Noah then grabbed a few leaves and made the Hippogriff wings on the bony spectacle and grabbed out one of his iron on faces he brought when he left home to come to this camp.

He used the sap to stick the face on. Noah now was the one riding the Hippogriff. Stepping back, he admired his piece of work. He laid underneath his little tent and smiled. Satisfied that he made his little hovel. He fell asleep before heading back to the cabin in the morning.

Santario’s companion fell quiet, which allowed the girl to continue her work in silence, and doing everything by hand and getting dirt under her nails reminded her of pulling weeds at the end of the year. That had been unexpectedly a much better time than she thought it would have been, especially when she had been accompanied by someone she had not expected. An unlikely companion that was quickly becoming more friend than a mere acquaintance. Which reminded her that she needed to look for something during the summer while she still had time.

She continued to position the more prominent branches into the little notches that had been dug for them, forming the tops into a teepee formation against the trunk of the tree. Taking one of the woven vines, she weaved it in and around the three before wrapping it around the tree trunk and tying it off. Next, she would move to place the boughs against the sides of the small shelter, tying them carefully to the branches and each other. Eventually, she would form a semi-proper cover. It would not hold up against strong storms or drastic weather, but it was something that would work out in a pinch if you needed something quick.

Santario clapped her hands together, knocking off some of the excess dirt. Even though San wanted to find something, she wasn’t going to do it without her camera as she was determined to get photos if she did find the flower. Santario would continue to plan in her head as she left the outskirts of the forest and the watchful eye of the groundskeeper making her way back to camp.

The Gryffindor would bide his time as he gathered all of the materials that he could ever need to finish off this project. After all he wanted to do a somewhat good job at this and so he needed the perfect stuff for a little hovel. Or multiple small hovels that he planned to build for the creatures of the forest. Whether they would end up using them? He actually was not sure, but he truly hoped so. Perhaps the next storm would make all the hovels topple over, then they would be unusable anyway. He shook his head as he began to work.

By the time he was done, he was a proud creator of a total of five little hovels, or stick dens. He grinned lightly at his work before he would say his good byes to his friend and the professor that had led this event. He was glad he had participated as it had turned out to be quite a lot of fun. Hopefully they would offer this activity another time during the next summer camp, if there would be one. For now he would call over Tiger and leave the area to return to the Unicorn cabin. He was sure that food would be served soon anyway. His stomach grumbled at the mere thought, so he would quicken his pace as he wiped off the dirt from his hands.
