Some Light Reading
It was a cool day of June and usually Henry Knight would be in the library reading to his desire especially with the year so close to the end and he would have to go a few months without seeing or stepping foot into the vase rows of books full of knowledge almost intriguing students to read them.
However the thirteen year old decided to go another way that day, he decided to head out to the great lake with his orange feline Loki and backpack for his favorite sport by the great lake where a larger tree sat to read or breath in the air that day.
Usually Henry would have preferred to find one of his friends and hang out with them for the day but he has recently seen them all and figured having one day alone wouldn't matter plus the young teen needed his alone time as well.
So dress in his older brother's sweatshirt, a fade pair of blue jeans, and some running trainers with his five or so friendship bracelets tied securely on his right wrist and gold rusted pendant hidden underneath his sweatshirt with the wolf necklace that matched his best friend; Logan's wolf one Henry would walk through the corridors and grounds of hogwarts.
Walking past others as he continued on his path to the tree that's branches hung over the great lake, it was beautiful. Perhaps one of the most beautiful sights he has witness at the magical school.
Henry would find a seat underneath the tree, leaning his back against the stump as he laid his backpack next to him. Loki explored the area around them a bit before settling down in a spot besides Henry who would scratch his feline's ears for a bit as he watched the ripping of the waters edge not knowing that soon he would be joined by another.

@Henry KnightSummer was right around the corner and Adlai knew that summer meant endless late night movies, running in the sprinklers with her sisters, and tennis matches with her father at the nearest park that happened to have a tennis court open for public use.
Wanting to brush up and hone some of her tennis skills Adlai decided to take her weekly practice down to the Great Lake today instead of her usual spot in the court yard. After all it was a nice day, and she couldn't tell how much longer she could bounce her ball against the outer walls of the school.
Wandering down the bank of the Great Lake, dressed in a pair of black leggings, a grey long sleeve T-shirt, a black hijab, and a pair of tightly tied grey sneakers, Adlai spotted a some what familiar face. Squinting as she got closer to them, she recognized them to be Henry Knight, a young boy who she had met in the hospital wing.
Once she was about six or so feet away from him, she called out his name, "Hey Henry!" she also noticed the ball of orange fur that accompanied him. Perhaps that was his cat, who he spoke about in their previous meeting.

Henry took a deep breath as he watched the ripping water of the great lake. There was a slight breeze that blew and the sun wasn't as blazing as it could be on sunny Scottish days.
The day seemed perfect. Days at Hogwarts always did seem to be full of surprises which usually ended in Henry smiling while occasionally in his concerned for his friends but that only a few events in a year. Majority of his memories were good, they involved friends and could be ones served to remind me of what Hogwarts really was like and how much fun the school was.
Henry smiled to himself as Loki laid beside him, the orange feline was intelligent and had trust issues. He was a peculiar feline, he played and liked getting affection but never purred. The two had similarities but also could be described as opposites. Opposites that created a match or pair with each other.
Henry starched the ears of his orange feline when he heard his name and turned his head to find Adlai Rod. The girl he met at the hospital wing a few days back when Aldor was there, Henry offered her a smile as he spoke" Hey Adlai," The teen would move his bag out of the way to create a spot for the girl to sit in as Loki got up and approached the girl.
Henry watched as his feline sniffed her for a bit before giving a short meow and pawing once at her ankles almost asking for attention from her as Henry spoke" he likes you and you can pet him if you want."

@Henry KnightOnce she had gotten closer to Henry his fuzzy companion seemed to waste no time in approaching her. She didn't hate cats, but she found herself a tad nervous around them since they weren't something she had grown up around. In Iceland it was common for people to have large dogs, goats, cows, and even donkeys however she knew that her mother had once had a cat when she was a child, though it was a stray cat that her family was look after.
At Henry's permission to pet the one she assumed was Loki, hesitantly she leaned down and reached her hand out and held it in the air for the cat to smell...if cats did that. "I don't think I've ever seen a cat such a color, they're lovely." she commented.
Her rabbit, Dexter, was a plain thing. Simple, being a more compassionate term. He liked what he liked which was to sleep, eat, and occasional be pet but other than that he liked to be left alone if anyone bothered him when he didn't want company he wouldn't hesitate to nibble a bit to harshly on their fingers and Adlai had learned that the hard way.

Henry watched as Loki rubbed against Adlai's legs before stopping in front of the girl and giving a short meow, his way of asking for attention.
The ginger feline didn't purr which was normal for him. It actually assumed Henry that his feline had trust issues but were certain people he enjoyed getting attention from and asked for it by meowing but even after a year of owning the feline, Loki still didn't purr.
Henry had some hope that eventually his feline would purr as he moved his bag to the other side of him and moved a bit making room for Adlai just in case she decided to sit down.
"oh, thank you," Henry replied to the girl who mentioned his felines color. Loki was rather a beautiful and intelligent feline but the young teen usually didn't say this out loud to others because he never enjoyed bragging or talking about himself. He thought it made him sound selfish and arrogant, two things that the young teen didn't want to labeled.
Once Loki was satisfied with his attention from Adlai, the orange feline would scampered back toward Henry and stretch out before sitting down besides his own. While the blue eye boy would turn to look at Adlai with a smile as he asked" do you have any pets, Adlai?"

@Henry Knight"I do, I have a rabbit named Dexter." She says, answering his question. "Though he's not here like Loki, he's at home in Wales with my family." She added. "I doubt my mother would ever let me bring him, let alone my youngest sister. Dexter and her are best buddies, I'm not sure they could stand to be more than half a day apart from one another."
Johanna, Adlai's youngest sister, was the one that had found Dexter when she and her father were wandering the aisles of their nearby pet store. Their initial goal was to purchase a pet fish, a decent starter pet and introduction to the responsibility for another beings life. However, once Johanna had spotted Dexter there was no going back.
Upon the duo's return home, Adlai's mother was everything but pleased. Nonetheless, she grew too love to Dexter and now treats him as if he was one of her own children. In fact, everyone babies Dexter... even the infamous great aunt Viktoria-Margret.
"I do notice that quite a large amount of students bring some sort of pet with them to school. What's it like looking after one in this environment, if you don't mind me asking?"

Henry listened to Adlai talk about her own pets, turns out the girl did have some. Well one, a rabbit.
The young teen listened to her words as thoughts circled around his mind, the voice ever present telling him words that he would rather not listen to.
Henry's family never know a lot of pets or any actually, for what the young teen can remember Apollo; his father's great horn owl is the owl that send and delivers mail to their family and has been around for a few years now.
Then Sandy is his brothers owl and he cares for her and occasionally baby's her, Henry used to use her for sending letters but that was before hs brother moved out.
So technically speaking Loki is his first official pet and even through the feline had trust issues and was difficult at times, Henry stilled loved his orange cat and brought him everywhere with him or tried to that is.
"A rabbit sounds cut and Dexter is a nice name," Henry replied with a soft smile as he quickly added" do you have any other pets?" Henry would allow Adlai to answer the question first as he would wait for her to finish and offer a soft smile as he would then speak" My brother has a barn owl; Sandy and my father has a great horn owl; Apollo who can be the family owl I guess. But technically speaking Loki is my first officially pet," Henry moved to the side a bit on the tree for Adlai and smiled toward the spot if she wanted to join him and sit.
Loki moved from Adlai and walked back to his owner, sitting down in front of him as the orange feline flickered his amber eyes from Adlai and Henry almost like he was listening to their conversation.
Henry smiled toward Adlai listening toward her words and questions as the boy nodded slightly as he spoke" yeah, it seems like loads has some sort of pet at Hogwarts," the teen then took a moment to mail over question wanting to give her the most detailed and best answer he knew as he smiled toward her and spoke" well, caring for a pet here isn't that challenging once you have a route. I fill up Loki's bowls in the morning then head out, he comes with me everywhere minus classes. Then at night I fill them up again and give him treats. If he has to use the bathroom then there's a little in my dorm for him and the other felines or if were outside he finds a excluded spot out here. Any other questions?"

@Henry Knight"My family had a bird for a period of time when I was younger, he flew away though." She stated with little to no emotion showing on her face. It wasn't a relatively sad or happy fact for her, she didn't like nor hate the bird in question, she was simply indifferent to it. "How about you? Any other pets aside from Loki?" she asked.
"Wow," she started as she listened to Henry's reply to her question. "You may act like it's no big deal but it's very impressive to me. I'm not very responsible so I doubt I would be able to do what you do, it's very admirable." Watching other students care for their pets in her common room always made Adlai feel rather proud of her fellow house mates. She felt as though it showed the qualities that their house was every so praised for on a daily basis by professors, peers and history books.
"Pets a gift in a life." She said being Loki another stroke down his back before she returned to an upright manner after having been bent down to pet him. "My grandmother used to tell me that pets take care of their care takers in ways we'll never understand. So when you have the chance treat Loki to something special."

Loki sat beside Henry under the tree, the orange feline flickering his eyes between the to students almost listening to their conversation politely. The feline was smarter than what others assumed even if he couldn't communicate with humans or speak a language that Henry knew.
"What type of bird?" Henry asked listening to Adlai talk about past pets that her family had and what had happened them. Losing a pet no matter the way how, death or running away is always a difficult experience. You won't never see that animal again and you need to learn new routes to live without it.
Henry offered Adlai a soft smile as he answered" no, others pets besides from Loki. My older brother has a female barn owl and my father has a great horn owl who could be the family owl but most have owls you know to deliver mail," Henry smiled toward the girl not minding having owls odd or anything since the young teen grew up with them and learned that they weren't exactly pets and held a purpose such as delivering letters.
"Thank you but I'm sure your responsible to have a pet here to Adlai," Henry replied smiling at the girl as he looked around there was still enough time to sit with the girl and talk with her before dinner that is if she wanted to since Henry would like to become friends with her.
Upon her next statement, Henry would look at Loki's amber eyes and the feline would look at Henry's blue eyes. The two locking eyes for a moment almost like they were thinking the same thing before Henry looked up at Adlai as he softly spoke with a smile, " alright, would you like to join me Adlai under the tree? There's room for another," Loki would look from his owner to Adlai watching her to see what she will do.

@Henry KnightThinking for a moment, Adlai frowned. "You know what, I can't remember what type of bird. It was chatty thing though, but it wasn't one that could speak English..." she went on rambling about the qualities of the bird. Thinking even more she couldn't even remember the creatures name now. She felt awful for it, but what could she do? She could ask her sisters, but she was sure they'd become angry with her for asking since it was once their beloved pet.
Scratching her head she sighed and nodded along to Henry's comment on how her compliments were taken with gratitude and how his brother and father have owls themselves. "Ah, I see. I've never heard the term "family owl" before, that's quite interesting." she noted. Though she assumed it would be the same as any family pet. Except this one would deliver the mail.
"Ah, yes thank you!" she exclaimed as she took Henry's offer to join him and Loki beneath the tree. "If I am intruding on something though please let me know and I'll go, I'm sure I have some homework or assignments to catch up on. Especially with transfiguration." she said, slightly laughing.
