Something In The Water
Terrible Presence in effect
Another day, another moment to relax and watch the waves of the water, dancing elegantly with the sun, it seemed like a peaceful day, the lake was rather quiet as well, people at this time were preparing to go out and have fun, or simply resting as much as they could, Aldor had other plans in mind, but for now, to even be able to relax, he needed peace.
Today he was wearing his old, baggy grey hoodie, black jeans with ripped jeans and the same necklace he always carried around his neck.
These last few months had been exhausting, meeting new people, failing at making friends, having to sleep listening to the snores of his roomates, all of these things combined made him feel like he wanted to sleep for a whole week and do nothing, this was mostly impossible, mainly because of the fact that Aldor's sleeping pattern was an absolute mess, he usually slept a few hours on the night, and sleep the rest on the day on various naps, this wasn't a habit a young teen should have, but he simply couldn't help it.
Perhaps it was time to do something different, usually there was nothing to do apart of walking around and looking at the wonderful landscape and reading excesively, but he couldn0t really think of anything yet, he felt like going to one of his friends and ask if they had any ideas, but they were all most likely busy, he didn't want to disturb them.
Nowdays, he just spent the time resting against a tree and staring at the water to see if he could catch a glimpse of something.
Maybe he should return to the castle soon.

Something In The Water
It was not uncommon for Haley to be outside once again and her feet carried her towards the lake. As so often, she was out here. Today she was alone, but that was not a bad thing. Most of the students were busy getting ready or doing something together, so Haley met only a few faces out here. But she still had some time until her next plans and so she wanted to spend the remaining time in the fresh air.
She had put on a pair of black jeans and shirt as well as her oversized shirt from Ian and strolled dreamily over the grounds of Hogwarts. Soon she could see the smooth surface of the lake from afar. It seemed as if she was alone, it was quiet, the wind caused small movements on the mirrored surface of the lake and for a moment the world just seemed peaceful.
To her astonishment, the closer she got to the lake, the more she realized that she was not completely alone after all. Sitting by a tree was a silhouette, also wearing black jeans and a gray hoodie. His gaze was fixed on the lake and it seemed that he was not aware of anything else. It seemed that Haley's arrival also went unnoticed and she wondered what the unknown boy was waiting for. Was he trying to spot the giant squid? Haley had already given up on that, far too often she was here and each time there was not a single sign of this creature that was becoming more and more of a myth.
At this thought, an idea came to Haley. Just because she had lost hope, or rather faith in it, didn't mean she could do anything about it, that someone else might keep it a little longer. She picked up a small rock on her way and threw it into the lake, not directly in his field of vision, yet close enough for him to notice.
"Oh," Haley spoke excitedly, "I wonder if that was the giant Squid?" she joked as she moved a little closer now to get a better look at the still unknown boy. She winked at him, of course she wasn't messing with him, just having a little fun. But something in the atmosphere was unusual, did he prefer to be alone? She felt a little uncomfortable, like it had been the wrong decision to disturb him in his peace. "Um, s-sorry."the redhead girl smiled uncertainly, scratching the back of her head. "I didn't mean to interrupt." She looked apologetically at the ground. "'I'm Haley." She introduced herself briefly and looked uncertainly toward the lake.

The boy was a bit shorter than her, this became much more obvious once he stood up, he seemed really skinny, but his complexion was hard to define because of the oversized hoodie he was wearing. In fact, even the shape of his face seemed extremely delicate, like it was porcelain, elegant and proportioned enough to make him look cute to some degree. He was a bit startled by the rock, he was really focused, and the splash in the water scared him a little bit. He heard the joke that the stranger said, he knew it wasn't the squid, obviously, but he played along.
''A-Are you sure?- It could have been a Grindylow.''
It was very obvious that he was nervous, it was strange, the aura around him seemed dark, angry and dangerous, but he looked absolutely harmless, his size and the shape of his body in general, he looked like a punch in the shoulder would be enough to make his whole arm crumble down.
Of course, everyone kept their own secrets, maybe the boy wasn't a person who was safe to hang out with, maybe he did have some sort of evil thing within him, no, that couldn't be right, he was an adorable little Hufflepuff. There wasn't any possible way that he could be a threat, that was a much more hopeful way of thinking.
''I-It's alright, I am Aldor, nice to meet you''
He smiled softly as he brushed some strands of hair away from his emerald like eyes, he was trying his best to act calm, but he didn't find it easy to talk to others, specially when he was focused on other things. At the current point in time, he was still a little dizzy just by forcing himself to make eye contact and drift all of his concentration to a whole new topic, it was sort of exhausting at times, but he was not going to act like a caveman and not answer, manners were an important part of making friends. Or at least that's what he read on a book a few days before.
''So- Do you come here often''
He couldn't think of anything better to say, and he was pretty sure that it wasn't something stupid to ask, he would feel worst if he asked something about the weather or anything similar to that.

Something In The Water
After the boy stood up, Haley immediately noticed that he was shorter than she was. She also guessed him thin, although it was hard to judge by his big hoddie and actually she didn't want to judge him let alone even look him up and down. Despite the confused situation he was kind of likable, she couldn't place it but the fact that he responded to her joke gave him plus points. "Oh gosh!" she spoke in complete shock, "I wasn't thinking about Grindylow." Acting fake and overdramatic, she now looked anxiously at the surface of the water, which by now had quieted down again.
Haley tried to ignore the unpleasant aura still present and smiled uncertainly at the young one. "It's nice to meet you Aldor" and for the first time she saw him smile, which only caused Haley to smile wider at him.
"Oh yeah, I'm actually here a lot." the readhead laughed and took one look around the lake. She was always a kid that loved being outside, rain or shine. She loved nature, its plants and creatures, magical and non-magical. She always felt comfortable outside and often it was a kind of retreat for her. "I'm outside a lot, I like it here." Haley explained further, turning her gaze back to Aldor. "And you?" she now inquired curiously.
She didn't want to keep standing here and looked to the tree the boy had just been sitting by, "Would you like to keep me company?" Haley asked him cautiously, pointing her gaze towards the tree, hoping he would understand what she was getting at. She would take a seat and wait until he did the same. "So Aldor, tell me something about you." Haley prompted, grinning at him. "So just um if you want." She quickly added, it seemed like he was getting uncomfortable fast and that was the last thing Haley wanted.

Aldor thought for a few seconds, he loved the outdoors, even though his passion was usually more focused on books, he loved nature, of course, he wasn't the sort of person who would be around, climbing trees, swimming in the lake, running around and rolling down hills, he was more the type of person who admired everything around him, but never really found a way to experience fun things apart of just staring and learning.
''I like the lake, so yeah- I usually just come around and take naps''
He chuckled quietly, reaching for the back of his head, he didn't seem to be as worried as before, but the atmosphere wasn't exactly calm yet, even if he wasn't worried about messing up while talking and he was smilling, he was still a little nervous, of course, this always happened when he met new people. Aldor was strange, usually, when seeing in class he was always focused on the proffesors, sometimes it seemed like he didn't blink. He was always taking notes, especially when it came to potions class, Defense against the dark arts and astronomy, of course, astronomy class was the one class NO ONE wanted to fail, having Leonardo Chiadovini staring down at you with utter dissapointment was something that would break anyone in seconds.
''Oh- uh, s-sure!''
He was sort of surprised things were going this well, he sat by her, unconciously pulling his legs closer to his chest, people who studied body language would probably describe this as putting a barrier, but Aldor wasn't exactly uncomfortable anymore, at least he did his best not ot think about it.
''A-About me? Well-''
He seemed to be stuttering even more tha before, he was really thinking hard just to come up with something interesting about himself, this was quite a difficult task for Aldor.
''Well, I like making costumes writting-''
He wasn't sure if that was 'interesting' enough, not everybody found books as a source of joy, and making costumes wasn't a very specific way of explaining what someone did in their free time, but he hoped that this wouldn't be a problem to Haley.
He was sure that she was nice, he could see it just from the last few minutes they've talked, he wanted to be her friend, but he wasn't fully sure if she also wanted to be friends with him.

Aldor seemed nervous, although there was really no reason for it, but Haley did her best to make him feel he didn't have to be, even if she didn't quite know how. She smiled and nodded at him in understanding. Even though she was up for anything and always looking for an adventure, she knew how pleasant it could be to just lie on the grass, close her eyes and enjoy the quiet moment. Even though Haley always seemed to be very active, she still enjoyed the quiet moments.
While they sat down, she took a cross-legged seat and plucked absently at the blades of grass between her feet while she turned her attention to Aldor. She really hoped she didn't embarrass him with her question and smiled encouragingly at him. She cocked her head to one side and looked at him questioningly. "What does that mean exactly?" she didn't know if it was stupid to ask but she couldn't imagine anything about it, maybe she just hadn't understood him correctly.
But she didn't want to just blast him with questions so she decided to tell him something about herself. "When I'm not out and about, I like to read." She mentioned, looking uncertainly at her hands that were still playing with the grass. "Alice in Wonderland is one of my favourite books." She now revealed, even though it was likely that he didn't even know the book, as it was a Muggle book.
But what else could she tell him about herself and did he even want to hear it? She tried to ignore her uncertainty and just kept talking, hoping to lighten the situation a bit. "I'm also a new member of the Quidditch team and try to train a lot. I'm only a second string but I hope to be off the bench for one of the games soon." She started laughing and brushed her long wavy hair on the right side behind her ear. She was glad to be part of the team, but until now she hadn't had the chance to prove herself during a game.
She now looked at Aldor and shrugged her shoulders. She didn't know if he was interested at all but with a bit of luck she would make a new friendship today. And if not, it would be a shame but not a bad thing, she just hoped she didn't get on his nerves.

The boy shook his head a little, apparently he was the one who didn't explain his hobbies correctly, probably because he was way too nervous to even talk properly. OOC Note: Casually using my own spelling errors to make Aldor feel even more awkward.
''I-I meant that I like both writing and making costumes, for like, Halloween and Balls and such, sorry, I just feel like I can't even talk normally today.''
He looked back at her, giving her a shy smile as he tried to focus a bit more on the topic at hand, he didn't seem to be completely comfortable yet, but at least, his stuttering wasn't as strong as before, maybe he was finally starting to get used to Haley's presence, he wasn't sure if that was a good or bad thing yet, but he hoped it was good, maybe they could be friend, hopefully.
Aldor listened in silence as she explained a bit about her hobbies, he a smile started to show on his face as she mentioned reading, she didn't know yet, but Aldor was probably the pure and raw definition of a bookworm, he probably spent more time in the library than he did in any other place in the castle and its grounds, he absolutely loved books more than any other thing he owned, well, except for the necklace around his neck, that was priceless to him, more because of the meaning of it.
''I've read Alice in Wonderland a few times, it's a really good book, but it's sort of hard to imagine how a muggle came up with the Chesire
for example, the character has so much depth but at the same time, it's strange to see it in a book so full of madness and strange things.''Aldor placed a hand over his mouth, he once again allowed his nerdy side walk right out when it wasn't supposed to, he hoped this wouldn't seem like he was trying to show off or something, he was merely really interested in books, and now that he knew that Haley liked reading too, he felt a bit more confident to talk.
He cleared his throat as he listened to her explaining her experience on quidditch, he knew about quidditch and how to play it, he knew what tactics were supposed to be used to win, but on reality, he would never play quidditch, something about flying on broom never made him feel safe, even though he never had a problem with it and was bassically a naturally skilled kid once he used a broom for the very first time.
''I'm sure you'll have the chance to go into the field soon, you never know what can happen in the middle of the game, maybe someone could get a stomach ache and it would be your chance to shiny and win the game''
He laughed quietly, he honestly hoped the best for who he supposed was his new friend.

Haley started laughing and slapped the flat of her hand against her head. "Of course that's what you meant. Sorry, I could have thought of that myself." the red-haired girl replied . She really could have thought of that herself now and it made her a little uncomfortable but she quickly shook off the feeling and continued to focus her attention on Aldor. "What kind of costumes?" she asked him.
Surprised and with a broad grin she looked at Aldor. He actually knew one of her favourite books and had already read it himself. "We're all mad here." She laughed and nodded at him in agreement. "But yes, I can totally see what you mean. Still, it just shows even more how talented the author is, don't you think?" she continued to reply enthusiastically.
She could just sit here and talk for hours more about the adventures of Alice or all the other possible books and stories. "I'm currently reading The Boy in the Striped Pyjamas." Haley just kept babbling on, "my dad sent it to me, it's a muggle book too." She explained further, curious if Aldor had ever heard of it. She wondered what blood status he had, not that it would change anything but very few Purebloods knew things or books from the Muggle world.
"Shine and win. That sounds awesome." Haley giggled on now, picturing her actually throwing the Quaffle through one of the rings at the next game. Still, she had plenty of time and somehow she didn't wish she had to fill in for one of her teammates because they might be injured.
"Have you ever been to a game here at Hogwarts? If not I'll let you know if I should play sometime." Haley winked at him and at the same time imagined Aldor sitting in the stands cheering for her. No, she couldn't imagine that, he was too introverted for that but she hadn't known him long either, maybe she would get to know another side of him.

Aldor took a few seconds to count in his mind the costumes he made, it went from very simple things to pretty ridiculous scales, but overall, it seemed that things worked out for him pretty well.
''Well, last Halloween I made a very detailed dragon costume, I'd say I mostly build costumes for special ocassions because of how bulky they are.''
He nodded happily as she listened to her quoting one of his favorite lines and agreed with her when she commented on the writer's skill, in fact it was impressive, and it proved how not only wizards were capable of amazing things, of course, Aldor's point of view wasn't common, he was a Muggle born after all.
''I recall reading it once, the story was interesting.''
He liked that book, but he only read it once for one reason only, the ending, once he finished that book, he never read it again, it made him feel extremely awkward, even sad, but he kept this to himself, not wanting to spoil it for Haley in case she had not finished it yet.
''I have been in a few games because of my siblings, it's sort of fun honestly. I would love to cheer you whenever you are in the game well- cheering as in standing there and smile.''

"Oh by Merlin! That's so cool!" Haley squealed excitedly as Aldor told her about his costumes. "I'd love to see them sometime." She continued enthusiastically. "And if you ever get bored, you're welcome to show me how to make my own costume." the girl laughed now, thinking of next Halloween and a possible costume. It was still a long time until then but maybe she would have to try making her own costume even if it would look like a big mess.
"Oh wow." She was surprised, she really hadn't expected Aldor to know the book. "As soon as I'm done maybe we can have a chat about that too?" she suggested cautiously. She liked the idea of a private book club between two friends, but she didn't know how Aldor felt about the situation, so she made her way cautiously.
"Oh, so you have siblings?" Haley aksed the boy, "Older or younger? In which house? What position do they play?" she could have asked a thousand more questions but she started to laugh. "Sorry, I'm just overwhelming you with questions, it's really rude of me." She gave him an apologetic look before now trying to dial back her curiosity and enthusiasm. "Anyway, I would be very happy to see you cheering at my next game." She said honestly, chewing the inside of her lip.
Haley had always been very open and extroverted and she knew that sometimes she ran people over with her manner, her questions and her behaviour in general. In such moments, she could only hope that she noticed and could take a step back, and that the person she was talking to would not hold it against her, let alone be annoyed by her. She tried not to say anything more for the time being and to let Aldor have his say.
