Quick Physical Description
Samuel is on the short side of 11, with curly brown hair that he keeps short but not cropped. He is a fairly active child with a slim build, making him look skinnier than he actually is, but with a healthy tan that speaks to a happy childhood spent outdoors.
Childhood
Samuel has had a fairly normal, quiet life for the past 11 years. He went to a muggle primary school in town where, whilst he was never quite top of the class, he enjoyed his time with friends and participating in extra-curriculars. He was on the football team, in the surfing club, and sang in the school choir. Outside of school he liked playing with his cat Simba, and going to the beach with his parents Ed and Georgie. His favourite activity is surfing, closely followed by swimming, and the beach is his favourite place. Lucky for him, living in Cornwall means he has access to plenty of them!
First Accidental Magic
When he was around 8 years old, he and his mum were out surfing on a fairly rough day. The waves were high and strong, and one of them hit the board wrong and bucked him into the sea. As he surfaced he looked around for his board and saw it floating away out into the ocean. He held out a desperate hand and, as if by magic, the board came floating back to him. He climbed back on and continued into shore, not quite understanding what had happened until the day he received his letter.
Receiving his letter
It was just a normal Saturday morning in the Stockman household, complete with early morning chaos, far too much coffee and trying to be quiet so as not to disturb the neighbours as the three Stockmans got ready for an early morning surf before breakfast. As they returned from the beach at around 10am, they were curious to hear a knock on the door. Ed went to open it and was greeted by a Hogwarts professor bearing a letter. A confusing breakfast followed, with the professor explaining that Samuel was not, as previously thought, an ordinary kid. While it took a few tries, and a couple well-timed demonstrations, they finally managed to convince the Stockmans that they were in fact telling the truth. Samuel could hardly believe it! He was incredibly excited to go to wizard school! He was a bit less excited when he found out it was in Scotland as that was farther away from home than he had ever been, and that it was a boarding school, which would mean being away from his parents for months at a time. The professor saw his hesitance and revealed the final hook - a summer camp on campus for the month of August where Samuel could get used to the Wizarding World and meet his new school mates before starting in September. Samuel was fully in at this point - he'd always wanted to go to summer camp, everyone at school had made it sound so fun, and now was his chance! And he got to go to MAGIC summer camp, which was totally better than Aaron's stupid rugby camp that he hadn't shut up about all year. He turned pleading eyes on his parents, who were still a bit wary, and begged with all his might.
"PLEASE!!! I'll be so good, I'll do all my homework and eat lots of vegetables and follow all the rules and write every day, please can I go to the magic school and the magic camp!!! Pleaseeeeeeeeeeeee!"
Ed looked at Georgie, sighed, and looked back down at Samuel.
"Ok, you can go, but you have to try your very best, and if you don't like it at any point you can just write and you can come straight home."
"Thank you thank you thank you thank you thank you!!!" Samuel raced upstairs to start packing.
"Sammie where are you going?" called Georgie.
"I have to pack!"
"It's November, you have 9 months to wait!"
"Oh man!"
