Annual Barbecue
Picture this in your mind, because Caradoc absolutely loved the entirely absurd and borderline disgraceful scene he was creating by driving a large, bright, multi-coloured food truck onto the centuries-old grounds of Hogwarts castle. Large tires sliding through the land where once the likes of Dumbledore wandered about. He could only imagine what faces his old professors would make at him could they see him now. But he was damn sure this had to be a first for Hogwarts. And that, was what they called "making history".August 1st - Summer BBQ - after cabin welcome threads, before first campfire
Or at least that's how the Head of Hufflepuff saw it. He didn't know if his colleague shared his sentiment. He was after all from an entirely different planet. With a big grin plastered to his face and a twinkle in his eyes, he turned up the wizard radio as Led Zeppelin's Immigrant song kept blasting louder and louder through the stereos. No better way to announce their arrival. The sound would echo beyond the hills, so loud even the hags were likely jamming along with them.
Increasing the volume a bit more as they were drifting past the first cabin, Doc turned the wheel and made a straight cut for the open clearing. It was as good as place as any, it would do nicely. As soon as the evening would draw closer, kids would likely start slowly wandering this way to gather for their first campfire of summer camp. Marcus and him would be ready for them. Or at least he would be, he had no idea how up for the task Moody really was.
So, Moody Marcus had actually been having a good time with his friend up until this point. Acquiring the food truck and packing it with the essentials - like burger meat, hot dogs, taco fixings, marshmallows, graham crackers, everything really needed for a barbecue that would lead into a campfire - had been the easy part. Spending the day away from the kids had been great, even if a good chunk of the day had been spent listening to Doc belt out showtunes or try to get Marcus to dance with him in the middle of a freaking food truck. It was now back in the campgrounds that the idea of having to serve a bunch of loud and obnoxious kids was putting Marcus on edge.
Oh, summer camp. A time-honored tradition of kids feeling a little too free being away from their parents, meaning the counselors - in this case, the school staff - had to really keep an eye on their charges. Well, at least with a food truck, Marcus could focus on the cooking and he would make Caradoc do most of the interfacing.
Now as the students began to head their way - no doubt intrigued by the colorful vehicle that Marcus opened the panel to - he would shoot Caradoc a look that reminded the Hufflepuff Head of House was in charge of the talking. Though, Marcus had a feeling that wasn't exactly how this would play out.

Welcome to the Summer BBQ event! The food truck will be providing the food, as well as some tables spread around the area with other sides, drinks, etc. Feel free to interact with the food truckees and/or lightly godmod that you were given food and you're hanging out with your friends in the surrounding picnic area. We are serving whatever is within reason for a food truck/summer camp environment.
If you're reading this... You're awesome.

Paige was already loving Hogwarts more and more. She was so so excited for summer camps she was practically jumping off the walls. She was enjoying every single second of it. She had her Walkman in her lap, testing to see if it would work. Technically it should, right? She cranked up the volume, trying to play Born for Greatness by Papa Roach, but thinking better of it and attempting at Sunflower by Swae Lee and Post Malone. She tugged at her shirt in frustration. She was wearing a yellow shirt that said in bold Who says I can't? In summer, the heat was no joke. Luckily, the campfire would be less hot because it would be night.
She thought she was imagining it. The lovely sound drifted to her ears at full blast. It was one of her favorite songs ever to exist. She jumped up and tucked away her Walkman, which she had given up and trying to get to work, following the sound at full run. Yeah, she knew she had the best head of house. She laughed our loud.
It was a food truck. With her exceptional nose, she could already smell the meat from afar. She walked up and waved to her head of house. "Hullo, sir! I like your taste in music!" She said, beaming.

Naturally, having grown up in a rather dominant wizarding family, there were some things and concepts in life that Elena Jangleton had diffculty understanding or just simply didn't grasp how some things worked. This was one of those rare instances as the echos of music echoing out over the grounds piqued her curiosity as the Gryffindor after ignoring it for a few moments finally caved in it deciding to at least give it a look and check it out. If music was present, she assumed it must be safe to assume it was a celebration or sorts or something given the fact they had been given the chance to get acquianted with their cabin-mates and perhaps it was some sort of introductory speech like they gave at the start of each term. However, what the brunette stumbled upon was something not even Merlin himself could prepare her for. There were several things that stood out to her here as her eyes flicked back and forth between the curious little vehicle and the display of colors it boasted as well as the two Professors who manned it. This was certainly an interesting take on things as she stood there processsing it for a minute or two.
"What on Merlin.." Elena muttered to herself glancing around to see if anyone else was flocking to this craziness. She didn't want to be the odd one out but given the fact that they had guided this truck around the entirety of the camp blaring out that song, she had to wager it would attract at least some attention as the aroma of food began to waft outwards drifting inwards to her nostrils as she ran a hand through her brown locks still not moving a muscle. She had grown to accept a lot of things at Hogwarts but this, this certainly made the top of the list as the girl began to walk making her way towards the area. She certainly didn't remember two professors commandeering a vehicle and navigating it around the campsite and advertisting dietary delicacies for their wants and desires though it certainly got a laugh out of her as she got nearer. There was only one other individual there with the exception of the professors and the Gryffindor decided she might as well give it a good, with noise like this, it was bound to attract an army.
Trudging forward, it took a few moments but the upcoming fourth year managed to make it to the curious little attraction marveling not at the food that was being offering but rather at the glamorus colors and bright decorum of the vessel. "I just have one question, where on earth did you get this, Professor?" She'd ask grinning gesturing with her hand at the truck, this certainly wasnt' something you would find at Quality Quidditch Supplies and as far as she knew, they had either devised a ingenious way of transportation or had taken perhaps too much of an interest in Muggle machinery. In any case, it certainly got the message across as the girl accepeted an hot dog taking a step back so any others who were behind her could get their food as she bit into it raising one eyebrow clearly impressed. They knew how to teach, operate Muggle machinery and cook, what other secret skills did the professsors of Hogwarts have that she wasn't aware of?

Hjørdis headed over to the cabin, wondering just how much she was going to regret what she was going to see here today. The sound of the music flooding through the campgrounds as it travelled past the cabins was a good warning of things to come. Donning her beige floral dress, she let her hair out for the day. It normally was tied up in a fancy bun or with plaits. On occasion though, she would let it loose and let the wind gently blow through it. It was always good to loosen up, after all.
The campgrounds were not great for her heels. However, she had spent plenty of years getting used to walking on these grounds without getting stuck so that was a benefit at the very least. It did not take her long to find the source of the sound. She had been very aware of the plan, but a part of her was hoping it was not true. The truck was... larger and more colourful and far louder than she appreciated. Why was it so colourful and more than that, loud?!
Of course, she should have expected this from that Browne fellow. He was definitely the type to do this. She could not help but laugh a little, shaking her head at the sight of it. He was probably loving every single second of this, despite the ridiculousness of it all. Oh, there were just not enough words for Caradoc Browne but 'ridiculous' was, perhaps, her favourite one. He was absolutely ridiculous, through and through. But he looked happy and that was always good enough.
As per usual, Caradoc was quickly surrounded by students. He was definitely one of the more approachable ones among the professors and she would not be surprised if everyone found themselves gravitating towards that pleasant aura of his.
Dipping behind some trees, she started to approach the vehicle. But instead of going straight to the window and getting her food, she moved towards the back door and knocked on it. Two knocks, then one more, then two fast ones again before a moment's pause and then two more fast knocks before ending with a final one. Hjørdis lightly tapped away on the back door. When he finally opened the door, she looked at him almost expectedly as though she was hoping he had something for her. After a few moments, she had to continue.
"So... are you going to tell me how he actually roped you into this?" She asked him with a smirk on her lips, spotting his rather interesting attire. This man's aura was very different. It was kind of intimidating or off-putting, even to her. But over the year, he had grown to become one of her closest friends - if not the closest - and that was worth fighting every single fibre of her being for. Besides, she needed the story of how he had actually agreed to this.

Xander thought it was a beautiful day today, so he had decided to check out the BBQ that was being hosted by the camp. He had just finished up checking out his cabin assignment and everything. Maybe he was going to be able to see one of the people he had met on the train ride here to camp earlier in the day. Maybe he was going to meet some new kids here at the BBQ. Xander had no idea what was going to happen, but he knew that this was going to be a great way to meet some more of his future school mates while here at camp.
Once Xander had arrived at the location the food truck was and all the tables, he looked around a bit, but didn’t see anyone he knew here yet, so he figured he would just grab a bite to eat and sit for the time being he thought. He walked up to the food truck and when he was asked what he would like, he asked what his options were, and the food truck guy smirked and just said pretty much anything. Xander thought it over a bit, before ordering some tacos, a side or french fries and a drink. Xander stepped back in case someone else had wanted to come up and place an order, and before he knew it his food was ready already.
Xander grabbed his food and headed over to a table towards the middle of all the tables, and sat down on the end seat. He placed his food down before him and looked around a bit before he started to dig into his tacos he had ordered. Xander's eyes widened as these tacos were very delicious, he didn't think that they were going to taste this good, but he was wrong, very wrong. He quickly scarfed down the first taco, before he knew it and then started to eat some of his fries, which were just as good. Xander’s mom usually made everything from frozen, as she worked all the time and usually just had to do quick meals for Xander when it came to meals, but this stuff definitely was not frozen food. He sat there with a big smile on his face as he ate his food.

Quinn loved summer. He loved the end of the year, because it signaled the end of one thing and the beginning of something far more spectacular. But damn if Quinn wasn't impressed by the current events. He was just happy he brought along his collection of bowties for this camp. Luckily he was wearing a very unique one if you asked him. Really his whole outfit was colorful and vibrant and save the shoes all flower themed. He had grown out his beard leaving it more or less unshaven for the last two months. So it was fairly big and his hair well that was left into a messy but tight bun. Massive hands in his pockets he walks to wear he smells the food.
"Ah dahn't know 'ow dis food troehck gaht 'ere boeht, i am in lahve and indebted to whoever brooehght it 'ere." His thick accent came through as absolutely tall unit of a lad, strode on over. Standing close to 10 feet now, he looked down at the food truck. "'ey dad." He was referring to of course his head of house. He wasn't sure when he started calling him that but it felt good to say so he did it, even if it was weird.
He of course waved to Professor Iwasaki. He also spotted miss Jensen waving to her, before finding out the menu. He ordered a stack of food as per usual. Chiefly 5 tacos, 3 hotdogs, a side of fries, and a drink. Mostly seeing if he could get away with ordering so much food. He highly doubted it, but Quinn was feeling absolutely cheeky today, and utterly happy.
He was bobbing his head to the lovely music and turned his attention to someone he had only saw once. Elena Jangleton, stepping his massive body out of line and on her side. "So what's oehp? Elena right?"

Nell walked into the area, following the sound of the music. She loved this song, whoever was playing it had a really good taste in music. Nell noticed the two Professors - one being her head of house - at the food truck. Nell gave a bright smile and headed over to the food truck. She got her food quite quickly and made her way to an unoccupied table.
When Nell finished eating the excellent meal, she glanced around. She didn't recognize anyone, unfortunately, besides the Head of Slytherin of course. She hoped maybe someone she knew, even recognized, would show up soon. Nell was odd in that sense. She loved and appreciated solidarity and being by herself. But then again, she wished to be more social. Nell truly was kind to others, but she just couldn't seem to befriend anyone. She hoped to make some more friends at Hogwarts this year and balance her studies. There could always be a balance between being social and being alone, but Nell could never find that balance unfortunately.
Putting aside her thoughts for now, she got up and got some more food. It really was good, whoever made all of this did a really good job. The only thing missing was someone to chat with.

Hex Code: #B09276It was when the booming call of Led Zeppelin came tearing through the air that Cade realized he could do with some food, and slipping out of the Augurey cabin, he beheld an unorthodox sight. Tearing past the crowds of perplexed students was a violently colorful food truck. How it came to Hogwarts, Cade could never come up with an answer. A grin plastering his face, the young Ravenclaw followed after the sound of glorious classic rock and came to a stop behind a Gryffindor girl who seemed to take the words out of his mouth. Where on earth did they get this?
Cade found the pairing of professors quite strange as well. The Ravenclaw knew Professor Browne to be Huffepuff's head of house. But beyond that, his opinion was very shallow. But Cade could surmise that his own head was the complete opposite, thanks to knowing his temperament. Cade knew Iwasaki was beyond serious and despite how much Ravenclaw house loved to tease and celebrate him, rarely ever exposed a smile.
He helped himself to a burger and fries, making sure to drown both in plenty of ketchup. He also took up a box of lemonade. Finally pleased with his plate, he would sit at a picnic table watching for familiar faces to join him. "This is mental. On Merlin's last tooth, how'd they manage this?" Cade muttered shaking his head. There were always surprises at Hogwarts.

The feeling of hunger was soon approaching. Perhaps it was the smell of the food that had begun to fill the entire campsite. It was their annual barbecue, a time where everyone gets together and eats whatever was planned to be available. Last year, some of the staff grilled burgers like there was no tomorrow. This year...
Maya stepped out of her cabin to see that there were food trucks that were at the ready for students to grab their grub from. It wasn't all, however. There were two adults having a blast at one of the food trucks. Maya couldn't help but to chuckle to herself seeing Marcus and Caradoc both having some fun in their work. Who's idea, Maya could not even begin to guess. Though she always thought of Marcus as someone who was very serious. Seeing him this way made Maya question her thoughts about him.
Walking towards the two, there were other students and even Nora who was engaging with them. An old friend, ex friend, acquaintance. Maya had no idea where they were socially. There was a time ago that they were inseparable. But that was quite far in the past and now it was ambiguous.
"Jensen," she greeted with a monotone. At least acknowledging her presence was the most she could do. Secretly, Maya did want to be friends with her again. Perhaps not like how they were in Uagadou. No... They had too much baggage now. Nothing would be as it once was.
"I didn't know you had it in you, Iwasaki," Maya shouted out to Marcus, her Israeli accent thick. "You should bring this side of you more often," she added, looking at Caradoc. Her impression of him at that moment seemed as though he was proud of himself. She could be wrong, but to get someone so put together to come out and have fun like this should have some sort of pride.
Maya grabbed a plate of fries, casually eating and standing in conversation with her colleagues. It then hit her that she had something she wanted to share with Caradoc.
"Browne, drinks later?" she asked in front of everyone. She did not care. To her, Caradoc was like a drinking buddy. Someone who can listen to her and when he opened up, she would listen to him. It was rare to find someone to share that kind of relationship with; one that never ended up in romance.

The sound of music had drifted through the air and reached a certain boy's ears. He turned his head, hands stuffed in the pockets of his denim jacket. The music was down the hill from the cabins, there was said to be food as well. With a small toss of his head, throwing the hair out of his eyes he got up from his position leaning on the wall and peered his head in to look for the girl, Bloom was her name. She said he would accompany him to get a bite later and as it was high noon, now was as good a time as any and from what he could see with squinting it wasn't too full yet so they'd have good picks.
Speaking of, he'd push his glasses up on his nose as they slid down a bit while waiting. He didn't necessarily need glasses but instead wore them so he enhance his vision. A small headache pounded in the back of his mind so he wanted to take a rest from squinting as much to see things. Maybe he would need glasses permanently in the future. He hoped not, they didn't even looked good on him in his opinion.
The blonde lifted his head to see Bloom in the doorway. "Ready to go to the Barbeque?" He struggled on pronouncing barbeque, dragging it out before titling his head after asking the question. Milo kept his hands in his pocket, figuring he probably shouldn't offer his hand to her as it may been taken wrong. The boy started down to the site, the music getting louder and a bit of chatter from Professors and students filled his ears. His eyes flicked over all the adults of whom he didn't know and most if not all of the students weren't familiar either. Maybe it wasn't so bad coming with a person. He could at least chat semi-comfortably and not site awkwardly by himself.
He found the food truck a little overwhelming and much.. Upon making up his mind he took a slab of chicken lathered in barbeque sauce, after all it was called a BBQ for a reason. The boy glanced behind his shoulder at Bloom, making sure if she didn't get food for herself or she was too shy asking he could get something for her. A pause of silence filled the air as he waited for the food. "You were drooling over Nate earlier no?" He casually spoke, a small smirk filling his face as his eyes danced with amusement. Milo was fairly observant and teasing the girl would be fun, but he wouldn't make her die of embarrassment, hopefully. The boy had already scanned the area for their cabinmate but hadn't seen him yet. So in the meantime his goal was to become the best wing man ever and enjoy the BBQ.
