Hogwarts Summer Camp 2021
Summer Camp Announcement Revealed
Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry is opening its gate once more to host a summer camp on its Campgrounds. Four international schools have been invited to join this camp too. This year, the camp will officially be open from 1st August to 31st August 2021. Students who wish to attend will be required to participate for the whole month before they go straight back to their respective schools.
Over the course of the month, students will be able to participate in a variety of activities. There will also be plenty of free time to explore the campgrounds and all of the equipment provided. The castle will be closed and off-limits during this time and everyone will be provided with a cabin to stay in, including the professors.
Advice for First Years:
IC you will be sorted in September, at the official Sorting Ceremony. However, you are welcome to attend Summer Camp a month earlier (arriving at Hogwarts on 1st August instead), you just will not know your house during camp.
If you are attending summer camp, it's best to RP there first as though you have not been sorted yet. Your character will be unaware of the house they are going to be in, in character. They will be sorted in Sept, on their first day.You will have received a letter from Hogwarts/International School staff, in which we invite you to come and spend the month in our company already. This to prepare you with school regulations.Advice for iNPCs:
iNPCs are welcome to join at the camp too. This time, instead of arriving through different modes of transport, students are requested to meet up and get the Hogwarts Express on the 1st August. Each school will be providing a portkey from their respective countries for their students on the morning of the 1st of August, in time for the train. This is optional but if not taken, you will need a reason for your character to still arrive that makes sense.
For instance, you can choose to arrive earlier, if it makes sense for your character (i.e. spending a week in July in London beforehand) but every student will be required to have a parent/guardian with them and a place to stay if arriving in London without a professor/through the official means. Whether they post or not, you can assume that you have 'signed in' with a professor from your own school on arrival at the train station.Advice to those who wish to have dNPCs:
No dNPC parents or guardians can attend the event, nor can any siblings or other dNPCs that do not attend Hogwarts. No dNPCs from any of the other schools are able to attend.
If you have a dNPC sibling that goes to Hogwarts, you can briefly mention them as being there. However, brief interactions are left to private threads. They cannot be roleplayed at moderated events or activities or official threads and details cannot be mentioned (i.e. you cannot say they are in a specific cabin, because they aren't on the official allocation list). So, essentially, a vague mention of them being at camp and existing is fine but please don't include them heavily in your posts.
The AnnouncementTravelling to Camp:
On the 1st of August, students and professors will take the 11am train from Kings Cross followed by carriage to Hogwarts. All international schools will provide a portkey from their respective countries to Kings Cross and will be accompanied by a professor from their own school. They will get the opportunity to experience Hogwarts Express for the first time.[OOC Note: Yes, you are permitted to have threads in Hogwarts Express roleplaying this journey. Please know that, even if the professors don't post, they are still 'present' IC. Each school has an accompanying adult and Hogwarts will also have professors present.]Accommodation:
Students sign up for camp in advance and they will be given their cabin assignments on arrival. To sign up for camp and receive a dormitory, please visit this thread [LINK].[OOC Note: Cabin assignments will be allocated by end of July. You will not be able to visit other cabins in character but there are plenty of activities outside]Activities and Events:
More information on activities and events will be released at the start of camp. There will be Quidditch and Duelling games, as well as a variety of camp activities for people to partake in. There will also be plenty of free time for their own activities, as well as descriptions of various areas that they may wish to explore.
Currently Revealed List of Summer Events:
⇾ Campfire Stories: Every night of camp, there will be a bonfire with snacks for students to enjoy. They gather around and tell stories whilst they feast on marshmallow smores or excess amounts of sugar before bed. Students are invited to partake and share their scary stories. Rumour has it that there will be prizes for the best storytellers. [LINK]
[OOC Note: Whilst this takes place IC in August, we are putting it up earlier as all stories must be submitted by end of 30th July. Voting will take place during August instead.]
⇾ Annual Barbecue: On the 1st of August, some familiar faces will be serving food all evening from their food truck to welcome the attendees of Summer Camp. This is the best place to meet those you will be staying with for the rest of the month. [LINK]
⇾ Lake Party: On the 3rd of August, the lakeside was in full swing of a party with the swimming pool, inflatables, food, drinks and music. It was a great way to start the summer and cool down a little. [LINK]
⇾ The Humble Hovels: On the 5th of August, students will be encouraged to build that woodland shelter that they have always wanted to build - or to just experience how odd the Hogwarts Groundskeeper really is. [LINK]
⇾ Show Support: On the 7th of August, students get the chance to show support for their favourite quidditch or duelling teams by crafting a badge! [LINK]
⇾ Mysterious Maze: On the 10th of August, students can take part in a magical and mysterious maze. Let's just leave it at that.
[OOC Note: Sign-ups are open till 30th July - LINK]

⇾ Chess Combat: On the 14th of August, the Slytherin Duelling Team will be facing off against Duellists from all of the other four schools in a game of 'Chess Combat'.
[OOC Note: iNPCs who have chosen to be Duellists can sign up for this event until 24th July. Games will start in August. Find out more or sign up here - [LINK]]
⇾ The Great Tomato War: On the 25th of August, students are invited to have a water fight - wait... a tomato war? Both? Looks like both. Both is good! Who needs to stick to just water balloons when you can throw tomatoes too?! [LINK]
⇾ Slumber Party (Spin the Bottle): On the 28th of August, the professors decided that the best way to end the summer camp was to have a slumber party, with snacks under the stars. Rumour has it that some students decided that they would break out to also play games, like Spin the Bottle instead. Others just watched the mess happening. [LINK]

- Summer Camp [August] is optional. However, if you attend, you will there for the entire camp and can't 'go back and forth'.
- Incoming First Years are permitted to attend but your character won't know their house until Sept 1st, when the official sorting ceremony takes place.

Hogwarts Summer Camp 2021
The Cabins are to be the students' homes for the next month. Students are allocated to a cabin, once they have signed up for the event. When students arrive at camp, on the first of August, they are given their cabin assignments and led directly to the cabin so they can settle in.
Eight log cabins provided lodging for campers, each one with a beast-bearing flag for which they were named. Three were the Avian cabins: Augurey, Occamy, and Phoenix. Across from these were the three Equine cabins: Thestral, Kelpie, and Unicorn. At either end were two cabins intended for adults only but for this year's festivities repurposed for student use: the Hippogriff and Dragon cabins. Those creatures occupying the enchanted flags mutely flexed in a constant show of "friendly" competition: beating wings, clacking beaks, stamping hooves, and soundlessly tossing their heads.OOC Note: If you haven't got a cabin and would like one, please sign up for your cabin assignment here [LINK].
Every structure appeared deceptively humble in size on the outside, while the interiors were enlarged by extension charms, making them wide beyond means and quite comfortable. These were fully furnished with curtained bunks, personal chests, dressers, wood-burning stoves, and plush floor rugs. The layouts were strikingly similar to the dorm rooms back at the castle. Rather than having House themes, however, they featured nuances of the beast on their flag.
Augurey [LINK]
The muted but beautiful furnishing of the cabin is a combination of grey-brown woods and muted green linens. What it lacks in colour, it makes up for in its serenity. An expansion charm leaves adequate, comfortable seating. [Image Link] [Image Link]. The space always smells like a field after a soft rain and when looking out the window, regardless of the weather outside a gentle patter can be heard on a tin roof that sounds like rainfall as well as evidence of a light drizzle when gazing out a window. There is something rather tranquil and serene about the whole atmosphere of these cabins. It was almost like they were on a peaceful retreat, in the middle of nowhere.
The sleeping arrangements were beds that were simple bunks, each privately curtained for some semblance of privacy [Image Link] with a personal trunk assigned to each student at the bottom of the bed. Regardless of the weather outside, the gentle patter continued at night to help people sleep to the soothing sounds of the rain.

Occamy [LINK]
The brightest and most 'modern' appearing cabin, clean lines and white walls. The furnishings are brightly coloured - deep purples and bright teals. The light fixtures look modern, but in truth, the shades hide several brightly burning candles. [Image Link]. There are no precocious silver eggs to protect, a true academic in this setting the house protects their books which they proudly display. The books describe a number of mundane and fascinating subjects, however, students need to act quickly if they wish to steal a book from the wall. A child that is too slow will find a dozen or so ribbon bookmarks reach out for them and attempt to tether them (or simply tie them up) in place. They would require the rescue of their peers. (No, the ribbons will not cause any harm). One would think that students would simply leave the books alone at this point but far too prideful and upperclassmen too humoured to warn the lowerclassmen, it is almost a right of passage for first-time dwellers to make this mistake.
The sleeping quarters is as the youngsters would say "extra" [Image Link]. While the beds themselves appeared rather humble, the walls perhaps even plain, there was a large communal space in the centre of a large room. Many nights the students would forego their bunks and sleep in the heart of the room on oversize beanbag pillows or spend the night chatting.

Phoenix [LINK]
A more rustic alternative inspired by fire and rebirth. Reclaimed wood, exposed rafters. The actual cabin truly resembled a... cabin. [Image Link] One of the most distinctive features here is the fireplaces [Image Link] which are large, imposing and beautiful. Another unusual attribute that sadly has not extended to the rest of the school is that the cabin is fireproof. A fact that is not well-known to students as historically children did not casually set one another or their setting on fire (this crop being the exception) but attempts to set oneself, others or the furnishings on fire would be met with a temporary, painless cool flame (unless the fires started in the fireplaces).
Another aspect of interest is the bunk beds. Simple, clean and comfortable. These bunks do not possess the curtains the other bunks boast, however, there is a bit more privacy in this cabin regardless because rather than a single, large shared room or a small handful, each room only houses two students. The rooms are well lit, clean, and comfortable. Although a bit small, they offer a pair of bunks, a pair of writing desks and ample trunk space for their belongings as well as the privacy of a shut door. [Image Link] Professors do not trust students enough to allow boys and girls (or couples) to cohabitate in the same very private bedroom (nice try).

Thestral [LINK]
An eerie sort of cabin, the truth be said. Like the ephemeral nature of death, this cabin is also quite... odd. Visible to those assigned to it, students would be seen walking towards an open space and then they would simply... disappear. When students unassigned walk close to the cabin, they can see the humble features of the dwelling quite plainly. Slats of wood laced together neatly, dark and tired, but solid and firm. The door imposing, the image of a thestral embossed on the frame. Inside, the cabin was brighter than one would expect. Not a space full of dread, but rather a space reflective of misunderstanding. [Image Link]. Comfortable with adequate seating, the actual cabin is uniquely quiet, as in the students within cannot hear anything going on outside and those on the outside cannot hear what transpires within. This being a source of a great many rumours. Those who try to peer inside the cabin uninvited would see through the panes simply a dark, empty space. A field of ash and death, one needs to belong to the thestral cabin to understand its strange mysteries.
An outsider can be temporarily offered admittance, much like a vampire entering an abode. Just that time, just that day. Once they cross the threshold to the outside, they wont be able to enter inside. If their invitation is revoked, they would feel themselves pulled away, out the front door and expelled. At least that is the rumor, nobody ever gets past the front door. A professor is often sitting in that common area and often revokes the invitation as soon as a student utters one. The sleeping quarters are simple and clean. Canopied bunk beds, the lowest very close to the floor which some might find unusual and the second a short climb. [Image Link]

Another strange dorm, the actual description of the dorm is ever-changing much like the demon it represents. The sitting area is always the same in terms of the placement of the furniture and what is where (such as a couch being to the left and the right of a space and an ottoman being in the center. Yet sometimes the couches would appear larger, or smaller, the cloth might be leather one day and cloth the next, the colors change wildly as well. Sometimes muted and tasteful hues, other times it looked as if a flock of parrots exploded in the room. However the basic format is always the same: Image Link.
The setting would change at midnight most nights and knowing this most students would leave the "furniture for the changing of seats" as many would call it. Those who decided to ride out the change often found themselves thrown off the unstable chair and thrown across the room. As for the bedrooms, thankfully those changed at noon each day. Built-in bunks in the walls would shift and change, and on occasion spew lazy (it is noon guys, get up) students from their confines. Again the appearance would frequently change but the format would appear roughly the same. [Image Link]

Unicorn [LINK]
A house of nightmares to some students, burning retinas to others or perhaps just a bundle of joy. A few students, at some point, exposed the Professors to the muggle representation of unicorns. It was a mistake. This technicolour nightmare - for some - tells you that not everything is art, but it is pretty neat. Other students would likely think it was heaven, it really depends on who you ask or who was lucky (or unlucky) enough to be housed here.
Crawlspaces and nooks can be found throughout this place. [Image Link] There is no large, communal space for gatherings but rather small areas found by trap door, a strange out of place ladder or at the end of a meandering tunnel that students would find themselves in. [Image Link] The bedrooms are almost as comfortable as advertised, however they do in fact resemble clouds when laid upon. [Image Link] Each room is private but there is no space for much besides the king sized bed (only one per bed, we check) and the closet that each student fills with their belongings.

Hippogriff [LINK]
Eerily similar to the Gryffindor common room and dorms, for those that happen to know. It would still be a very new or different colour scheme for most of Hogwarts, at the very least, or for the visitors. There were lots of red velvets and rich woods. A common area is surrounded by curtained bunks. Each bunk had its own curtain for privacy, with a trunk at the bottom of each dorm. [Image Link]. This dorm was likely a little stricter on the curfew to prevent noisemakers from staying up in the common area all night and preventing anyone from getting any sleep.
There is a minor contrast between this and the Gryffindor area, however and this reason made it one of the most sought after cabins. This is one of two cabins with its own small indoor dining space [image Link], small kitchen and an indoor bathroom [Image Link]. This is because this cabin used to only house the adults. Many of the Professors fought over the honour of staying in this cabin as opposed to the rest due to the self-sufficiency offered here.

The greatest tragedy was forcing the Professors out of this cabin [Image Link] Large open seating, this former bar area has had those barrels of Jensen's favorite wine replaced with pumpkin juice and she is none too happy about it - and she made a point of telling Lear her complaints.
There was plenty of dragon motifs that graced the rustic walls and furniture. [Image Link]. This cabin also has a kitchen and a private bath, as it was previously one of the teacher's cabins. The sitting area is comparatively small to the rest of the other cabins, but many found it cozy. [Image Link]. The cabins were recently renovated to accommodate the student population, so large private suites were replaced with sturdy, but plain bunk beds [Image Link]. Yes, students who got this cabin (and Professor(s)), the majority of the faculty officially hate you.

OOC Guidelines:
1. Each cabin has a link to a thread that takes place first thing (after the train journey here but before the Annual Barbecue. Takes place around 5pm-6pm on the first day.
2. It is an optional thread for all members of the cabin, serving as a 'meet and greet' thread if you need it. You do not have to post there but please feel free to.
3. You are permitted to create your own cabin threads at your leisure. Please tag it with the name of your cabin. I.E. [Unicorn]/[Dragon]/Etc and mark it as [PV]/[Open] as usual.
4. Only named cabin members can enter the cabin. Students cannot visit other cabins. The exception is the staff who can enter any cabins for staff matters.
5. Please assume that there is an adult in each cabin, regardless of whether or not they actively post. You are not left alone in the middle of the night. Do not godmod them without permission, though.
6. Do NOT post as your iNPC if they haven't been approved. You can sign up and might have been assigned a cabin but do not post until they have been approved.
7. Cabin sign-ups are now closed. If you want to remove yourself from yours for any reason (too busy to post now, etc), please let me know.

Hogwarts Summer Camp 2021
Tucked into the trees, in view of the Great Lake a cosy clearing was composed of several sturdy structures that would greet the students of Ilvermorny, Koldovstoretz, Durmstrang, Beauxbatons, and of course Hogwarts.
With that Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry is ready to host the Hogwarts Summer Camp 2021. For the month of August, those who wish to take part in the summer camp will find themselves spending their time on the Campgrounds. The castle is off-limits but the school has provided a variety of accessible areas for this event only.
There are a few notable buildings scattered among the trees or out on the grounds themselves.OOC: All Summer Camp threads should be in the "Campgrounds" board. Do not post anywhere else in the Grounds or at any other boards. Essentially: do not post anywhere in Hogwarts, other than the Campgrounds during the month of August. This is IC dates. You can continue backdated (before July) or forward-dated threads (till end of Sept) in Hogwarts.
Additionally, remember that every student went home in July. On 1st July, everyone left to go home. You cannot stay at Hogwarts/school. Every student is required to have a parent/guardian to stay with and a home to stay in for the entire time they aren't at school.
First, there was the main food area. All meals are served as a buffet here, provided by the house elves as usual (see Classroom 3, below). There is plenty of seating inside, should it rain or if people prefer to sit indoors. There are also picnic benches outside the building to allow people to sit outside and eat in the sunlight if they prefer. There was even a food truck that sat outside it, which occasionally opened up or moved around the campgrounds, supplying plenty of food to all. The food truck was run by Caradoc Browne and Marcus Iwasaki whenever they felt like it. The Annual Barcebue was a great example of this.
This is where all students get food, when they are not in other events that supply them. Two of the cabins (Hippogriff and Dragon) had their own small kitchens for those lucky enough to be in them. However, for most people, food was available at the main food hall. (Note: You can claim there are some snacks you brought in or a cooler box of water/juice in your cabins if you want though).OOC: Please don't godmod either professor with the food truck, unless they give you permission to do so. And no, you can't break into it or steal it >;(

Second, is the wash house, a similar establishment split into threes. While the area lacked electricity, it still possessed plumbing, and every washroom came equipped with sinks, mirrors, showers, and toilet stalls. Come sundown, these were locked, but a trio of handy outhouses stood at the side of the building for any who desperately needed to break curfew. There was no need to make the trek back to the (locked) castle to use those facilities, like it or not this was 'roughing it' for many of these students. The water was always cold, even on the warmest of days. Two of the cabins were lucky enough to have their own private bathrooms (the former professor cabins, Hippogriff and Dragon) but for most of the students, this was the place to go.

The third building was easily overlooked, it was nothing more than a supply shack (ignore the picture, this is just a supply room). But it would come to be known as the Supply and Equipment Room. This shack contained mundane tools, the odd component for cooking or brewing potions, and a stand in the back for storing firewood. In preparation for the season, this supply shack was stocked with a variety of safe, child-friendly equipment that could be borrowed out for use. There was a large variety of equipment available, for instance:
- Muggle Sports Equipment (Footballs and small goals, badminton rackets and shuttlecocks, inflatable pool balls, garden bowling set, yoga mats etc)
- Muggle Board Games / Wizards Chess (not lifesize)
- Pool Equipment (Pool floats, armbands, safety equipment)
[OOC Note: Please be realistic and reasonable. No electronics, no special items that you shouldn't have, etc.]- - -
Finally, there was the workshop, a wide brick building separated into three class-sized rooms.
Classroom 1 was repurposed into the Arts and Crafts Room for the month. There is a huge variety of stationery supplies, arts and crafts - everything from papercrafting to embroidery. Safety scissors supplied, nothing sharp for kids. Students are permitted to work on their own projects but an adult will be around to supervise, so no illegal projects. Hjørdis Jensen was regularly found here. There is an arts and crafts session every day between 3pm to 5pm for those interested. Students are encouraged to create something to send to their parents/guardians/loved ones at least once during the month but this is not required. This could be a handmade card to send home to their parents/guardians, a simple crocheted heart, a friendship bracelet or just write a letter with lovely calligraphy. (Students feel free to create your own threads for this or join one in progress, presume an unnamed adult is nearby unless one enters your thread.)
Classroom 2 was repurposed into a staff 'break room' of sorts. Locked to students, several desks "mysteriously" found their way into this classroom. Professors often spend their off-hours here working on their lesson plans or escaping the students for a few short, glorious hours.
Classroom 3 was repurposed into prep quarters for the House Elves that insisted on working during the summer months. Behind a locked door they prep for all three meals: breakfast at 7 in the morning, but the scent of sizzling bacon permeates the air sometime after 5. Lunch at noon, commonly hand-held fare such as sandwiches, fruit cups, varied salads and sweet, summery punches. Dinner, often something grilled such as burgers (yes, you can have a vegan burger) and various salads, topped off with cool pies - often a rotation between chocolate cream, coconut cream and banana cream but on occasion simply fresh fruit. In the late evening, they supply the students with the components to make smores. They can often be heard working well into the night.

With the Great Lake around the corner, a small area of the lake has been safely sectioned off with nets. This is the temporary Swimming Area for students. Students are permitted to take part in water sports, such as the 'Chicken' game, or to play with the inflatable pool floats. The pool is accessible any time after 6am and before 6pm, whilst the camp is in session. Students will not be able to go beyond the barriers in place and nothing will be able to enter into it. Equipment, such as pool floats or balls, can be borrowed from the supply room. This was where the Lake Party takes place on the 3rd of August.[OOC Note: Be mindful of site rating and the fact that you're playing kids. Appropriate clothing needs to be worn at all times, including proper swimwear. Do not RP any NPC creatures or beings, such as the Giant Squid or Merpeople.]- - -
Whilst there is plenty of space on the grounds for students to set up their own little game, whether it's a game of tag or catch, there is a few sections pre-setup known as the Sports Areas. These sections are all near each other, with the lake not too far. One is set up with large football (soccer) goals and another section with a net that can be a tennis net or badminton, depending on the height it is set to. Students can set this height using the hand crank to manually wheel it. These are just temporary setups that can be used for people's leisure. There are some light markings in the ground to indicate the important lines of the field if people want to play a proper game. However, students are welcome to use the nets or equipment to play other games of their choice too if they prefer, such as penalty shootouts or volleyball instead.
This is my former staff account.
