Welcome to the Kelpie Cabin
Evening, 1st of August
Following the long train journey, students finally arrived at Hogwarts. They were escorted directly to the Campgrounds and registered again. It was, at this stage that they were given the rules for the month. These were pretty obvious but they were stated again by Professor Jensen, simply because she did not trust students to listen. She also wanted to be sure that the visiting students had no excuse of being 'unaware' of the rules. Where necessary, the accompanying adults from each of the schools would repeat the rules in their school's language for people who didn't have English as their first language.
Camp rules were very simple. Obey the curfew, follow usual school rules, don't wander off into the forest, don't be a giant jerk - you know, all of the usual things. Failure to comply would result in a detention, or worse, banned from attending future camps.
Eight log cabins provided lodging for campers, each one with a beast-bearing flag for which they were named. Three were the Avian cabins: Augurey, Occamy, and Phoenix. Across from these were the three Equine cabins: Thestral, Kelpie, and Unicorn. At either end were two cabins intended for adults only but for this year's festivities repurposed for student use: the Hippogriff and Dragon cabins. Those creatures occupying the enchanted flags mutely flexed in a constant show of "friendly" competition: beating wings, clacking beaks, stamping hooves, and soundlessly tossing their heads.
Every structure appeared deceptively humble in size on the outside, while the interiors were enlarged by extension charms, making them wide beyond means and quite comfortable. These were fully furnished with curtained bunks, personal chests, dressers, wood-burning stoves, and plush floor rugs. The layouts were strikingly similar to the dorm rooms back at the castle. Rather than having House themes, however, they featured nuances of the beast on their flag.
During registration, they also all received their cabin allocations. Students were then escorted to the cabins by an adult and given some time to put their bags down, secure themselves a bed and settle into the accommodation that they would be staying at for the month. The official feast was being set up and would start in about an hour. After which, they could attend the first campfire of the month if they wish to. Of course, they could just return to the cabins whenever they wanted to rest.
The group of students that arrived here would be the members of the Kelpie Cabin.
Kelpie
Another strange dorm, the actual description of the dorm is ever-changing much like the demon it represents. The sitting area is always the same in terms of the placement of the furniture and what is where (such as a couch being to the left and the right of a space and an ottoman being in the center. Yet sometimes the couches would appear larger, or smaller, the cloth might be leather one day and cloth the next, the colors change wildly as well. Sometimes muted and tasteful hues, other times it looked as if a flock of parrots exploded in the room. However the basic format is always the same: Image Link.
The setting would change at midnight most nights and knowing this most students would leave the "furniture for the changing of seats" as many would call it. Those who decided to ride out the change often found themselves thrown off the unstable chair and thrown across the room. As for the bedrooms, thankfully those changed at noon each day. Built-in bunks in the walls would shift and change, and on occasion spew lazy (it is noon guys, get up) students from their confines. Again the appearance would frequently change but the format would appear roughly the same. [Image Link]
OOC Guidelines:
1. This thread takes place first thing (after the train journey here but before the Annual Barbecue. Takes place around 5pm-6pm on the first day.
2. It is an optional thread for all members of the cabin, serving as a 'meet and greet' thread if you need it. You do not have to post here but please feel free to.
3. You are permitted to create your own cabin threads at your leisure. Please tag it with the name of your cabin. I.E. [Kelpie] and mark it as PV/Open as usual.
4. Only named cabin members can enter the cabin. Students cannot visit other cabins.
5. Please assume that there is an adult in each cabin, regardless of whether or not they actively post. You are not left alone in the middle of the night. Do not godmod them without permission, though.

Welcome to the Kelpie Cabin
I was so excited to attend my first summer camp at Hogwarts. The train journey was quite long. However, throughout the journey, I didn't even move a muscle. Just spent the entire time reading "Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them?". Once the registrations were done, I was allocated to the Kelpie cabin with few others.
Above the cabin a huge flag was hoisted. The flag was enchanted and the shape-shifting water creature can be seen stomping their hooves, ready to drag someone underwater. My obsession for magical creatures kicked in and I started wondering when will I be able to see one in the flesh.
The cabin itself was quite huge. A huge carpet was placed at the center of the dorm with leather furniture placed neatly on its either sides. Two bright colored ottomans were sitting in front of the sofas. Across the entrance, was a fireplace engraved with staggered granite. It seemed like the colors of furniture were changing randomly. When I entered they were bright red. It turned into dull shades of grey when I was done unpacking my stuff.
"I could never get tired of magic.", I thought to myself. Being the first one there, I took back my book and sat on the sill of the window to the left side of the room.

Welcome to the Kelpie Cabin
OPEN TO INTERACTIONS
Winter couldn't wait to finally get to the summer camp. She had been thinking about it the entire time on the Hogwarts Express train. At the sorting she had her fingers crossed to be sharing the cabin with someone she knew. But from the looks of it they were all new people she's never seen before. She was honestly really bummed out that she wouldn't be sharing a cabin with her close friend Xeno, but this was her big chance to make new friends.
She walked up to the cabin, the flag above it moving likes the waves of a river, the sea monster moving as if it had been real. She smiled and walked into the cabin, her head low. She let out a quiet "woah..." in amazement of how pretty the cabin had been. To those looking at her she looked like a phantom, long black cloak covering her from head to toe. She walked around and scanned the rooms. Dragging her trunk behind her, she quickly went to the bunks and claimed a top bunk. After all the top ones are the absolute best! She noticed a boy, seeming to be a first year. He looked nice, so she walked up to him. She lowered her hood, revealing her face.
"H-hi i'm winter i guess were cabin mates!" she said with a smile. "What's your name?" she asked, slightly tilting her head. She unbuckled the front of her cloak, slipping it off of her shoulders, and throwing it onto the bunk she claimed. She crossed her arms looked around the room noticing there was nobody else there. "Huh i suppose were the first ones to get here? That just means we get first picks!" she fixed up her hair and scanned around the room, admiring how well furnished the cabin was.
She thought of how jealous her brother would be if he could see the cabin right now! She didn't feel bad at all its not her fault he chose not to come along with her. Eventually more students would have poured in, filling up more of the cabin. Soon it would be time to explore all the camp had to offer. This summer was going to be so darn fun! And winter just couldn't wait her heart was jumping out of her chest, she was so excited.

Scarlet had been thrilled to be back on the Hogwarts Express a whole month earlier than the start of school, of course it had meant she had spent less time back at home, but she couldn't wait to attend her very first summer camp.
Her mind wandered as the professor she recognised as her head of house read out the rules to her and the crowd of students she found herself a part of, she wondered what kind of activities she would have the chance to take part in over the next few weeks and if she would see any familiar faces. Soon after, Scarlet was registered and told that she was in the Kelpie cabin. The creature was familiar, she thought back to the piles of drawings and photographs her mother usually kept strewn across her desk at home and remembered it being some kind of aquatic creature.
Approaching the cluster of log cabins, Scarlet brought her gaze up to the array of enchanted flags gently blowing in the breeze. The one belonging to the cabin she had been directed to, showed a majestic beast, which at first glance she thought was a horse, but the long continuation of it's body beyond it's two front hooves would suggest otherwise. She didn't realise how cool the evening air had been until she stepped into the surprisingly warm cabin. Inside was tastefully furnished with large plush sofas and colourful ottomans as well as a large rug that covered the majority of the floor. The main room was still largely empty aside from a boy she spotted reading a book by one of the windows to the left of the room. Scarlet decided it would be best to first unpack, so just directed a quick greeting towards him, "Hello!" she said whilst giving him a small wave, before continuing towards the bedrooms with her bag.
She found the bedroom to be furnished to just as nice a degree as the previous room. Curtained bunk beds lined the walls, each appearing to have a nearby chest allocated for their user. A girl was busy unpacking her trunk, beyond her Scarlet saw another free bunk in the far corner of the room, by one of the windows. "Hi" she said whilst passing the girl, "the rooms are amazing!" As she moved further into the bedroom she noticed most of the beds were still unclaimed, but the corner bunk had already caught her eye. She hadn't decided whether to opt for the top or bottom bunk but figured she had time until more students came in to decide, so began unpacking her things into the chest. As she did, she heard a loud growl from her stomach, 'I've missed the food here' she thought as she remembered the announcement of the feast that was bound to happen soon.

Welcome to the Kelpie Cabin
Paige was extremely excited.
She had just spent a year at a magic school
And now she will be going to a summer camp. For that school. Nothing ceases to amaze her, here, it seems. Her mom had given her thousands of kisses, nervous that the camp would be no safer then the school.
So Paige was extra excited for some adventure. She was extremely amazed when she walined into camp. The flags were all different, and she couldn't help but stare. She tore her eyes away to listen to the rules with a bunch of other students. Ugh. Rules. She looked along the faces to see if she recognized anyone, but soon enough, she was being sent to her cabin, which she happily walked too.
"wow..." She said. She walking and her jaw fell open. Or was amazing in here! She's never seen a cabin like it!
She looked at the bunks and spotted the familiar white hair. She walked over and set her trunk on the bottom bunk. "hey Winter!" She said, pulling put her sheets. She took out a white blanket with tiny peaches on it and placed it on her bed. She then looked around the cabin. "Hey guys. I'm paige!"

Welcome to the Kelpie Cabin
Interacting with Pizza Rat (her rat) & Open to Interactions | Mentions: Arjan 'Des' Oberoi (my iNPC)
Don't be with Des, don't be with Des, don't be with Des...
The words were an internal monologue in her mind as she was being registered, just hoping not to be paired into the cabin with her brother. Arjan - or 'Des', as she called him - had been on her train journey here and it was a nightmare. Spending an entire month in the same cabin should just put her on edge constantly. She really did not want to be with her brother. There was just no way she could be herself if she was.
As soon as she heard the word 'Kelpie' and saw he had received a different allocation, she sighed a breath of relief. She did not really care where he was but as long as it was not in Kelpie, she could rest easy. Arriving at the cabin, she looked around. There was a group of unfamiliar faces that had gathered together. Serena could not help but smile at the sight of them - they looked so excited and it was sweet!
Looking around the dorm, she noticed how 'clean' it was. The common area looked like a slightly fancy house or something, nothing unusual and the bunk beds seemed simple enough. It was fine. Serena made her way to the dorms, dragging her trunk with her. "Pizza, don't," She said softly as she felt him squirming around in her pocket. Trying to soothe him whilst trying to drag everything in was not exactly easy.
"PIZZA!" She called out as the brown rat crawled out of her pocket and quickly jumped out to the nearby furniture, running underneath one of the beds. Leaving her trunk, she instantly dived towards him, trying to stop him. Within moments, she found herself on the ground, trying to reach for him. Her arms were not exactly super long though so she pretty much had to crawl underneath the bed, "Come on, buddy... I know you're scared, but it's okay now. I won't let him hurt you, come on..." She tried to comfort him, but that did not mean he understood her.
Sighing softly as she noticed him curled up in the corner, refusing to move for a bit. Serena stood back up, "Well... I guess that one of these bunks is mine if no one else minds?" She asked the room - if anyone was around - giving up with trying to get him out for now. He could stay there for a few moments. She would find him some food or something to get him out later. For now, she decided that one of the bunks - hopefully, the top one - was probably going to be hers. Dragging her trunks closer, she looked around at her cabin mates, seeing who was around.

I was suddenly startled by an approaching footstep. I quickly lowered my head and buried it into my book. The footstep got closer and someone entered the cabin. I didn't raise my head, until a voice gasped "woah.." A girl around my age, covered completely in a black cloak, was standing at the entrance.
Scanning the room, she walked around and finally went inside the bedroom. I wasn't usually the one to break the ice, and I kept it the same way this time either. When I was about to lower my head, I heard a second footstep approaching. I looked up and saw a long, dark haired girl walking towards the bedroom. She waved at me with a "Hello!". The time my brain processed to return her greeting, she was already inside the dorm. "Well...that's not the first time." I thought.
I closed my book and shoved it into the bag and looked out through the window, when I heard a voice saying, "H-hi i'm winter i guess were cabin mates!". I looked above hastily. It was the girl in cloaks . She was standing with a smile and her hoods lowered this time, revealing her silver hair. It reminded me of winter snow. "Maybe that's why they call her winter" I thought. I came back to my senses, when she asked "What's your name?".
"Hello. I'm Ramsey." I replied abruptly with a smile. "Huh...I'm out of words again." I thought to myself.
She unbuckled her cloak and threw it over a bunk. "Huh i suppose were the first ones to get here? That just means we get first picks!"
"That's fair. I'll be happy with a lower bunk though."
She started scanning the room again and soon was lost in her thoughts.
I felt it would be better to go claim a bunk first. I took my trunk and walked inside the dorm. The long haired girl from before was unpacking her stuff in a corner bunk. It looked cosy. I thought maybe I could ask her if I could take the lower bunk.
I dragged my trunk behind me and walked towards her. "Hello I'm Ramsey." I said with a smile. "Would you mind if I took the lower bunk?"
Before she could answer another voice echoed the dorm. "Hey guys. I'm Paige!"
"Hello!". I replied, turning around instinctively. A short girl with curly hair stood there smiling ear to ear. Something on the other side of the dorm caught my attention. There was this girl on grounds, trying to reach out for something. I never saw her coming though.
"It seems, I'll start making friends soon before the sorting ceremony." I thought.

Kelpie Cabin...
There could have been a different creature to use, but instead, they represented a water creature that wasn't as intense as let's say... the Unicorn. No matter, it was the children who would be enjoying themselves and making their cabin better than the others.
Looking at the roster, it was quite a lot of children that were staying in the cabin. Luckily, Maya was not alone and had another professor sitting in with her. It would definitely make the times go by quicker to have an intelligent conversation.
As Maya walked in, her signature red coat and lips in tack, she looked around to see that some of the students had already arrived and were already conversing with one another. Most were young students that Maya had never seen before. There was one, Serena Towers, that Maya was aware of but did not know well.
As the children were introducing themselves, Maya thought it a grand idea to include some food. It was always better to get to know one another by eating. At least that's what her culture taught her. In her hand was a bag filled with vegetables: cucumber, tomatoes and lemons. Maya also had some spices with her.
"Don't mind me," she said while walking through conversations to get to the back of the living room. "Keep your wonderful conversations going."
In the area, there was a little table with a lamp on it. Maya thought it best to do her prep on there. She moved the lamp onto the floor and quickly unloaded the bag: a bowl, vegetables, olive oil and salt and pepper. She then grabbed the vegetables and made her way to the nearby bathroom to rinse them off. She even went to her boot and took out a knife, a muggle tool that she always kept close just in case, and rinsed it off. When she came back, she moved an ottoman near the table and began cutting vegetables nonchalantly.
Maya, at this point, looked busy, but her ears were perking to listen in to ensure that conversations were appropriate.

Winter smiled when the boy, who had introduced himself as Ramsey. She giggled, the first thing that came to mind was -gordon ramsey-. They continued to talk for a while before he had went off to claim a bunk. Winter was proud of herself she finally talked to someone without being hesitant, now to try doing that more often and things would get easier.
More people started to enter the dorms, one stuck out the most though. A long haired girl, yelling 'PIZZA' whilst reaching under one of the bunks. -Hogwarts is a crazy place- she thought to herself as she grinned. She soon realized she was trying to retreive something, or perhaps someone? Winter was about to walk over and ask if she needed help but stopped when the boy from before Ramsey walked her way.
It was not too long after that when winter heard her name, a familiar voice. AHA! It was her friend paige, finally someone she knew! Without thinking twice winter shouted her name and ran straight to her, tackling her. Well i suppose that's payback for in the common room! "PAIGEEEE!" she yelled as they both toppled over onto the floor. So far everything was amazing, and winter knew it would only get better!

When Violet entered the Kelpie cabin, she couldn't help but feel that this was the cabin for her. It was fancy and the style felt like her home, so she couldn't help but smile a bit when she entered the cabin. Her eyes traveled as she looked at the fancy sofas and clean white bedrooms that Violet and her cabinmates would be sleeping in. She threw her white trunks where her belongings were on her bed, and sat herself on her bed as well. She took her Natterjack Toad, Ollie, from her purse (which was where she liked to stay), and put her pet on her shoulder, which was where the toad was going to be for the day.
Violet knew that she had to do something , since it was the start of the summer, and she would eventually be exited and full of ideas and things to do. But her mind now was blank, and she had no idea what she would possibly be doing at that moment. Resting? Nah, that was boring. She needed to do something much more exiting than that. As she still wondered what she would do at that moment, she looked at the kitchen and saw that an Adult, probably one of the professors that were taking care of them in summer camp, was cooking something. Standing up, she went to peek in to see what she was cooking exactly.
Well, cooking was a good idea, especially since she didn't have anything to do. Putting Ollie, that was currently croacking in her hands, on her shoulder once more, she went to see what the professor was doing more closely. Violet didn't expect herself to go and cook. She didn't have any experience in the kitchen, so she had no idea how she could help or just start a conversation about food. Clearly this wasn't going to go anywhere, but she decided to just act curious.
''Hello Miss Galim." she said in her friendlyest tone, "Can I ask, what are you cooking?"
