Evening, 1st of August
Following the long train journey, students finally arrived at Hogwarts. They were escorted directly to the Campgrounds and registered again. It was, at this stage that they were given the rules for the month. These were pretty obvious but they were stated again by Professor Jensen, simply because she did not trust students to listen. She also wanted to be sure that the visiting students had no excuse of being 'unaware' of the rules. Where necessary, the accompanying adults from each of the schools would repeat the rules in their school's language for people who didn't have English as their first language.

Camp rules were very simple. Obey the curfew, follow usual school rules, don't wander off into the forest, don't be a giant jerk - you know, all of the usual things. Failure to comply would result in a detention, or worse, banned from attending future camps.

Eight log cabins provided lodging for campers, each one with a beast-bearing flag for which they were named. Three were the Avian cabins: Augurey, Occamy, and Phoenix. Across from these were the three Equine cabins: Thestral, Kelpie, and Unicorn. At either end were two cabins intended for adults only but for this year's festivities repurposed for student use: the Hippogriff and Dragon cabins. Those creatures occupying the enchanted flags mutely flexed in a constant show of "friendly" competition: beating wings, clacking beaks, stamping hooves, and soundlessly tossing their heads.

Every structure appeared deceptively humble in size on the outside, while the interiors were enlarged by extension charms, making them wide beyond means and quite comfortable. These were fully furnished with curtained bunks, personal chests, dressers, wood-burning stoves, and plush floor rugs. The layouts were strikingly similar to the dorm rooms back at the castle. Rather than having House themes, however, they featured nuances of the beast on their flag.

During registration, they also all received their cabin allocations. Students were then escorted to the cabins by an adult and given some time to put their bags down, secure themselves a bed and settle into the accommodation that they would be staying at for the month. The official feast was being set up and would start in about an hour. After which, they could attend the first campfire of the month if they wish to. Of course, they could just return to the cabins whenever they wanted to rest.

The group of students that arrived here would be the members of the Dragon Cabin.

The greatest tragedy was forcing the Professors out of this cabin [Image Link] Large open seating, this former bar area has had those barrels of Jensen's favorite wine replaced with pumpkin juice and she is none too happy about it - and she made a point of telling Lear her complaints.

There was plenty of dragon motifs that graced the rustic walls and furniture. [Image Link]. This cabin also has a kitchen and a private bath, as it was previously one of the teacher's cabins. The sitting area is comparatively small to the rest of the other cabins, but many found it cozy. [Image Link]. The cabins were recently renovated to accommodate the student population, so large private suites were replaced with sturdy, but plain bunk beds [Image Link]. Yes, students who got this cabin (and Professor(s)), the majority of the faculty officially hate you.
OOC Guidelines:
1. This thread takes place first thing (after the train journey here but before the Annual Barbecue. Takes place around 5pm-6pm on the first day.
2. It is an optional thread for all members of the cabin, serving as a 'meet and greet' thread if you need it. You do not have to post here but please feel free to.
3. You are permitted to create your own cabin threads at your leisure. Please tag it with the name of your cabin. I.E. [Dragon] and mark it as PV/Open as usual.
4. Only named cabin members can enter the cabin. Students cannot visit other cabins.
5. Please assume that there is an adult in each cabin, regardless of whether or not they actively post. You are not left alone in the middle of the night. Do not godmod them without permission, though.

Vivian was all smiles since the moment she left her home for the summer camp. The Hufflepuff was so relieved as she was set free from her boring house after three big weeks and felt as though she was revived. The girl was walking on air until she hauled her trunk to her cabin, she grunted with difficulty as her trunk was quite heavy but she somehow managed to pull that with her. Pulling her Rapunzel hair free which was tied up a moment ago as she succeeded in placing her trunk, the blonde finally looked around the allotted cabin to see if she was the only person who’s there at the moment. Unfortunately or fortunately, her eyes couldn’t find any face there, maybe she rushed over there in excitement and was so early to arrive.

“Dragons” she murmured as she looked at the dragon design which filled the wall and furniture and started sauntering around. Being glad and proud of herself that the dragon motifs didn’t scare her, she walked towards the bar area to find something to quench her thirst, of course, she didn’t expect anything other than juice. Grabbing a glass of pumpkin juice in her left hand, she sat on the chair near. Taking a sip, she looked around to see if anyone entered, she loved this place already and she’d love this place until she has to be alone again. Of course, it was not just her who’s been allotted to this cabin, others would join her in a few seconds or minutes. Talking about the pumpkin juice, Vivian loved it ever since the day she first tasted it in Hogwarts and her head was shaking to an inaudible rhythm with every sip she took and her eyes closed dreamily to it, “Wow, wow, wow... I missed it” she stared at it with admiration.

Ohhhhh boy, oh boy! Caradoc was as excited as ever to be present at summer camp. Everything was already going perfect. The fact that Nora got robbed of her usual cabin in the woods, stacked to the brim with vats of wine, was enough cause for the older Hufflepuff to grin as wide as he could. They removed them in preparation for their arrival, of course. Nevertheless, the fun he was going to have teasing that subject... mwah! Perfect opportunity. He always loved to cause a few glares from her, it was practically a holy mission by now.

Walking around the cabin, the HoH tipped his invisible hat to the dragon flag before stopping by the door. He read over the words a final time, checking to see if there had been any spelling mistakes. With one swing of the hammer he was holding in his other hand, he slammed a nail into the wooden exterior. Attached to a thin cord, Caradoc hung the large sign off to the side of the front entrance. To any that would pass, they be able to read it from a mile away:
"NO PARTYPOOPERS ALLOWED"

Next up, he entered the cabin, grabbing his bag from the floor, he almost swung it inside onto the nearest chair. He kept his sunglasses on, because, he was Caradoc. Rolling up the collar of his Hawaiian shirt, he rolled up his sleeves and clapped his hands. In a surprisingly effortless jump, the father of badgers would jump on the table closest to him. "ACTION!" He would shout out whilst snapping the fingers on both hands.

His bag would zip open, and an old record player would start playing music. Cups would rhythmically start slamming on the counter as he waved his hands about and muttered a few words. All the candles in the room would be lit, regardless of it still being light outside. They'd not go to waste, it was meant to build the atmosphere. He knew a certain someone that would not approve of the waste. But he had control of the cabin today. Smirking way wider than it was any good for him, Caradoc would take position behind the bar. Time for some non-alcoholic cocktails and other beverages. This place looked like a giant bar, after all. And if there were one thing badgers of his generation were known for, it was having a feast.

"Mocktails, Sparklers, Punch and other drinks, come and grab them folks. This place might look like it survived the dark ages, but let's make sure to light up the place for compensation." Juggling between the enchanted cups, dancing to the music, Caradoc would serve any of the students that would like a cool drink during the hot month of August. After a bit, he'd have to leave to tend to other duties, hopefully by then having set a tone on what this place would look like with him around.

Amelia definitely didn't know what to expect at the summer camp, she knew they were getting cabins, and their would probably be BBQs, various games and activities to join in on, and a lot of teenage drama. But this was Hogwarts, and nothing was ever normal here. Despite the slight uncertainty she felt, she still signed up for it. It was her first summer camp and she would never dare miss it.

After the long train journey, Amelia was exhausted and she could probably just lie down and go to sleep right now but she didn't want to miss the BBQ, so she just had to persevere. She walked up to the cabin she was allocated for the month, the Dragon Cabin. The name sounded extremely cool, and she had heard that this cabin used to be the teacher's cabin which probably meant it was at least a little bit better than the others. When she got close to the cabin entrance, she noticed there was a sign nailed there saying 'NO PARTYPOOPERS ALLOWED!', Amelia laughed and shook her head. What exactly was she getting herself into? She opened the door to the cabin and heaved her trunk in behind her, "What on earth did I pack in this? The entire continent of Europe? Why is it so heavy?" She muttered to herself.

She stopped at the cabin entrance, taking her time to look around the cabin. It was pretty nice, and she could definitely see where it's name had come from. There were quite a few dragon motifs around the cabin, the cabin also had a kitchen and a bar. The bar was probably there because of the teachers, but she noticed it now was filled with pumpkin juice and Professor Browne was behind the bar, serving different types of drinks for everyone in the cabin. She knew Professor Browne was her head of house, but she had never spoken to him personally. He definitely looked like a laidback professor, if his Hawaiian shirt, the enchanted cups, the sign outside of the cabin, and the music playing was any indication. It seemed she was one of the first people to enter, as she only noticed one other girl sat in the sitting area drinking a bottle of pumpkin juice. If Amelia was right, she was also in Hufflepuff. She had seen her around the common room a few times, but had never spoken to her.

Walking away from the cabin entrance, Amelia headed to the bunk beds. She placed her trunk on a random bunk, she wasn't exactly worried about getting a bunk mate yet but if someone asked her, she would definitely be up for it. Amelia headed back to the bar and grabbed a cup of punch, she went over to the girl and sat opposite her. "Hi!" She greeted enthusiastically, "I'm Amelia, I think I recognize you. Are you in Hufflepuff by any chance?" She asked the girl, taking a sip of her punch before continuing, "I'm very excited for the summer camp, I think we got a pretty great cabin. Did you sign up for truth or dare or spin the bottle? I signed up for both, though I don't know why I signed up for spin the bottle. I don't really want to kiss anyone just yet. Eh, I guess I could always hug them." She stopped once she realized she was rambling and smiled sheepishly, "Sorry, I guess I kind of got a bit ahead of myself."

Arjan had just had the longest train journey. Geesh, the students had to do this every year? He missed the beautiful and incredible Durmstrang ships. They were so much better than a train. His younger sister had the audacity to bring that gross rat of hers, which she was still trying to hide from her parents. It was kind of amusing to hold it against her. Honestly, he was not entirely sure why he kept coming back to Hogwarts though. Yet here he was.

Half-listening, he sort of paid attention to the instructions and rules and such. Dragon. That was all he really needed to know and it sounded pretty badass. Of course, he did not listen to the other cabin names enough to know if it was the best one but he was there and that was enough. The Dragon Cabin!

"Fancy meeting you here, Miss Black," He said with a smirk as he spotted @Falentra Black in the group. He nodded his head and made a motion with his hand as though he was 'tipping' his hat at her. Well, the invisible hat on his head that is. He had met Fal - which is what he actually called her - a few times over the year, hanging out whenever their schools had gotten together since the summer event last year. In all honesty, he was thrilled to have a familiar face in the group - especially one as pretty as hers and one that was not intolerable. "Want a hand?" He offered instantly as he motioned towards her bags or trunk. His own was being carried in one hand - the one that didn't tip the hat - pretty casually, in a way that flexed his rather obvious muscles. If she wanted it, he would help carry her bags. If not, he would carry his own.

Making his way to the cabin with the group, he continued the chat, "How have you been?" He asked her - a question that was probably one of the most sincere things that had come out of his mouth in a while. He could not help but quirk an eyebrow as he spotted a rather large sign that they seemed to be walking towards, "Tell me that's not our cabin..." He mumbled, though it was loud enough for Fal to hear, as they seemed to be walking closer. 'No partypoopers allowed'... Well then.

Arjan normally would have worn his Durmstrang uniform but it was pretty warm and he was told he looked too uptight. So instead, he wore a plain t-shirt that had some branded logo. It cost a bunch of muggle money so it had to be good, right? Accompanying that with a pair of shorts and a pair of loafers.

Entering into the cabin, he legitimately looked behind him as though to double-check if this was actually the right place. Had he walked into the right cabin? Hell, was this even the campgrounds anymore? Did they wander out of Hogwarts? N-no? Then why was there a random man standing on the table?! Yes. On. Not at the table, but on it. A random man wearing a very loud shirt.

Of course, the man should have looked familiar. Arjan had been here a few times before and probably listened to the man or seen him around but this was Arjan. Did he really ever listen or pay attention to anyone who wasn't a cute girl? Or, you know, him? He just stood there, with his bag and shot Fal a look, as though to see her reaction. Her reaction would likely have set the tone for his, whether or not she realised it.

Normally the first thing he would do would be to dump his bag on a bed - the best bed - and claim it as his but... Right now, he was kind of just... shocked. He was also trying - really hard - to play it cool in front of the pretty girl. A part of him just had no idea how to react. This was not what he expected when he signed up for summer camp.

What in Stribog's name was going on at this school?

Emile was a mess. He had forgotten to pack about 10 different things and had to rush around and pack them all that morning. Then he had to pick out an outfit that wouldn't leave him too hot. Then he spent 20 minutes fretting about whether his bully Florian would be there or not. He really hoped he wasn't. He was then ushered to a portkey and then onto a train. He had only read about the Hogwarts Express and never thought that he himself would get to actually experience it. Liz had spent so much time gloating about how he would never board it and yet here he was.

After being lead to the campgrounds and figuring out what cabin we would be in, he made his way rather slowly, trying to catch glimpses of any creatures in the trees surrounding them. This distraction caused him to trip and fall, leaving him with dirt on the front of his overalls and skinned knees. He huffed as he picked himself up and grabbed his trunk, which had fallen beside him. He really really hoped no one had seen that.

From a ways away he could read the sign on the front of his cabin which read 'NO PARTYPOOPERS ALLOWED'. He furrowed his eyebrows before letting out a small laugh. He opened the door to the cabin and was met with an old-timey interior with dragon motifs scattered around. His eyes lit up and a smile spread across his face. Dragons are so cool, he decided. He took in the bar and kitchen, not knowing if that was normal for every cabin, as well as the adult standing ON a table who seemed very excited about what was going on.

Emile chuckled and then smiled shyly at him, enjoying the music that hit his ears. Maybe he would grab a drink in a moment. For now he wanted to claim a bed and unpack some of his things. He skirted around the older boy who was standing in shock at the man on the table and waved at the adult as he passed before he turned his attention towards the sleeping area. He paused in the doorway when he noticed the two girls. He took a breath, reminding himself that not everyone was like Florian and Liz and that there are actually people out there that might enjoy being his friend.

He set his stuff down on one the bunks, not thinking much of the fact that he might have a bunk mate and quietly approached the girls, listening in as the one with brown hair spoke. Ah, so they were both Hogwarts students. "Hey, sorry! Didn't mean to eavesdrop, just want to get to know someone in my cabin. I'm Emile. I'm from Beauxbaton." he spoke with a mild French accent. He smiled softly at both the girls and nervously played with his fingers while trying to maintain eye contact. Putting himself out there was not his strong suit, but he knew he was going to have to if he wanted to have fun here.

It was so relaxing as she leaned on the chair and let her eyes narrow gradually until it completely closed for a few minutes. The blonde wouldn’t be so tired usually as she had a habit of taking a nap on the train but on this day, the excitement in her eyes didn’t let her sleep. Eventually, all the thoughts inside her head faded by the calmness of the place and she could see nothing but black. Suddenly a shout made her jerk out from her relaxing position “Oh my god! Where am I?”, she was breathing heavily from the shock for few seconds until she realised she was in her summer camp.

Placing her hand on her forehead she chuckled at herself for her own behaviour when the music started to play, she looked in the direction of where the sound came from. It was professor Browne, she smiled at him in admiration as he was full of energy. The blonde always admired energetic people who are full of life, tho she never talked to him before she had a good impression on him. Well now, she wants another cup of pumpkin juice but she had it just a few minutes ago, “Maybe... later” she murmured to herself.

The cabin eventually started to fill with people which she liked a lot, in a blink of an eye a girl who Vivian assumes to be a Hufflepuff sat facing her. Smiling brightly at her, “Hi Amelia, I am Vivian. You’re right, I am a Hufflepuff and...” tilting her head slightly, “You must be a Hufflepuff too... I think...” she smiled as she narrowed her eyebrows in doubt. The blonde has seen her somewhere, she didn’t remember where but they have never talked before and she didn’t even know her name before. She smiled in amusement as she thought she found someone like Samantha, who talks continuously without giving a break. Her eyes widened as she mentioned about kissing and hugging, “AH?”she shrieked, her face looking with terror “I-I mean...- kiss? -hug?” shaking her head side to side, “I didn’t get you? Shouldn't we just spin the bottle? Why should we kiss or hug?” she scratched her head fiercely.

As a boy from another school approached the girls, she looked at him with the same terror, her mouth and eyes opened wide. Why did she sign up before reading the rules? She was so careless and clueless but why? The blonde wouldn’t be able to kiss someone who she has no feeling for. After realising he had been standing waiting for their reply, Ah, it’s okay, take a seat please” she gestured him to sit and smiled but the dreadful expression in her face didn’t fade away, “Hi Emile, I am Vivian and we both are from Hogwarts” she continued as she tied up her hair again.

Amelia took a sip of her punch and nodded, "Yes, I'm also in Hufflepuff. It's nice to meet you, Vivian," she smiled at the girl, "I've saw you in the common room a few times but I've never said hi, so it's nice to finally talk to you." Amelia smoothed out the wrinkles in her jeans as she listened to Vivian ramble about spin the bottle. The girl's rambling made Amelia's eyes widen in surprise slightly, she wasn't expecting that sort of outburst when she asked about it. When Vivian had finished, looking utterly distraught, Amelia laughed and shook her head. "Sorry, I guess I shouldn't of spoke about spin the bottle. Don't worry, there's going to be no kissing or hugging tonight."

Amelia took a few seconds to think over Vivian's words before tilting her head to the side curiously, "Wait, you did read the rules of spin the bottle right? I mean, you don't just spin a bottle. I know that's the title of the game but you spin a bottle and you have to either hug or kiss the person it lands on. You do know that, right?" Amelia asked, if Vivian had just signed up for spin the bottle without actually reading the rules, she was in for one hell of a treat once she found out what the game includes. Amelia still signed up despite the logical part of her brain telling her not to but she decided that whoever she got she wouldn't kiss them, she'd just hug them. Or run away screaming, depending on who it is.

Then, a boy walked up to the two girls. The first thing Amelia noticed was that he looked very nervous, so he wasn't an extrovert then. Amelia decided that if she was going to do one thing tonight, it would be to make this boy feel more comfortable here. He'd be here for a month, after all. When he spoke, she immediately picked up on his light French accent and her suspicions were confirmed further when he said he was from Beauxbatons. "Bonjour!" Amelia said, then let out a very unladylike snort. "I don't actually speak French, 'bonjour' and 'merci' is about as much knowledge of the French language I have. It's very nice to meet you though, Emile. As Vivian said, please sit down." She gestured to one of the empty chairs and smiled encouragingly at him.

"How's it like in Beauxbatons? Is France a nice country? How nice is the food? I've always wanted to go to Paris, it just looks so cool. I really want to see the Eiffel Tower and try all the French food, but I'd probably have to learn the language first." She bombarded Emile with questions. Her plan wasn't to try and make him uncomfortable, she was mostly trying to ask him a lot of questions to get him talking and hopefully relax a bit more but she knew that some people did not like how outgoing she was so she really hoped he didn't just get up and leave. "How do you like Hogwarts? You're going to be here for a month, so I hope you end up liking it if you don't already. Are you thirsty? If you want a drink, I could go get you one. There's pumpkin juice at the bar and Professor Browne has made quite the effort in making us a range of drinks." She asked him, smiling at him. If it wasn't already obvious, the boy would soon learn that Amelia apparently never stopped smiling, or talking for that matter, she was just a big ball of energy that never ran out. "Oh! Are you going to the BBQ later? I think it's in an hour or something, we can all go together!" She suggested, looking at both Vivian and Emile.

When Gregorí entered the Dragon Cabin, there were an adult, two boys, and two girls. Both girls were chatting with one of the boys while the other boy, whom Gregorí assumed as the oldest of the four, was alone. No, count it as three girls - the most senior boy was with a girl who also looked older than the other females currently present. It seemed to him that the two had known each other, while the other three younger pupils had just met.

Gregorí, as usual, did not feel confident enough to join. He would if someone explicitly invited him, but if he had to be the one making the first movement... better forget it. He would feel he had been impolite by interrupting an ongoing conversation. And either way, he usually felt more comfortable talking to one person so he could give his whole attention to that person - talking with a group of people, in his eyes, was like a group of little kids playing soccer - very often there was no taking turns and inviting others to say something, rather, the quickest ones (that is, the chattiest ones in this case) would be the ones who perpetually got the soccer ball and monopolized it.

Yeah, well. Better forget it if you were an observer, it was rare that somebody would notice your presence and then call, "And what about you? You haven't talked for quite a while - come on, it's your turn now! You can say anything you like!" No, Sir. Conversation was a game of kids' soccer, not a game of Bridge.

Gregorí placed his bag on a lower bunk in a far corner and went to sit on an unoccupied chair, reading a book. Dinner would be in an hour or so, and he would stop reading by then - or if somebody called him.

Atlas was beaming to be back in the hum and seemingly never-ending chaos of Hogwarts. Never did Atlas think she would have been so excited to return to school but a month away from home having fun in the woods and seeing all of her friends was an opportunity that she couldn’t miss. Trotting in a pair of yellow converse, ripped jeans and an open hoodie, Atlas weaved through the people all searching for their cabins as she sought out her own.

She had heard somewhere that the Dragon cabin was normally reserved for the adult staff so the fact that Atlas would get to stay in it made her beyond excited. She would do her best to sniff out any secrets that might be hiding in the large cabin but she also wondered who else would be with her. She already knew that Ethen wouldn’t be joining her cabin which had been a bit disappointing but she knew they would see plenty of each other at the myriad of events taking place during camp.

Pausing as she noticed a sign outside the cabin that would be presumably her home for the next month, a wide smile spread across her lips. ‘NO PARTYPOOPERS ALLOWED’ seemed like her kind of cabin. Picking up her pace, Atlas only slowed to open the door and let herself into the beautiful Dragon cabin.

Her senses were overwhelmed by the mix of music, the rustic decor, and, most importantly, her beloved Head of House in a Hawaiian shirt presumably serving drinks. She already knew that she would adore her time in the cabin, if an adult needed to oversee them, she couldn’t be happier that it was her unpredictable Head of House. “PAPA BADGER!...I mean ADMIRAL!” Atlas yelled raising her hand to quickly salute the man before pushing her way into the building.

There seemed to be plentiful beds available still and Atlas decided she would figure that part out in a moment. First, she needed to hit the bar. After a long day of travel, a nice cold drink would really hit the spot. “Name’s Reid, see,” Atlas said, mimicking the twang of a 1930s New York gangster as she moved to the bar and slammed a hand down. “What ya say barkeep, ya got the goods? Need me a drink, see. Heard you’re the man ta’ see. Ya got ya’ self a friend if you will pour me one them Screaming Ostriches, see,” Atlas said dramatically raising an eyebrow at Caradoc. Not truly knowing if a Screaming Ostrich was a real drink but it seemed to fit the part.

Peering around at the mix of familiar and unfamiliar faces in the cabin, Atlas couldn’t be more excited to make a few friends and to have a month that she wouldn’t forget. Without realizing it, her head was already grooving with the music. “Ooo, whatta toon there guy. Damn fine, see,” she said with a slow nod trying to keep from laughing.
